The reminders disappear after a while. The event/date is still there, but the registered reminder isn't.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Done
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I am an app developer and I sometimes use my personal iPhone for testing some apps. Today I was testing a very old app originally developed for iOS 3.0 that I was going to fix to upgrade to iOS 5.0.
As I was debugging my app using XCode at some point I wanted to simply delete the app and its data, so I touched the newly added app (the one I was building in XCode) and clicked the "x" the x was pressed (I could see it change color) but the prompt did not come so I pressed the sleep button and now the prompt came, I deleted the app and everything was ok, all my apps were there (as expected of couse).
Then I tried to build again on XCode and launced and got the common "debugger hung error", I have gotten this many times before so I know the fix is to simply reset the iPhone by pressing sleep and the home button for about 10 seconds. And that is what I did, it started fine and as I unlock my phone I find to my surprise that absolutelly all my apps were wiped from the home screen!. All of them.
Contacts, music, photos, notes all that is still there. Just every single app is gone. If I look at my memory usage it is stil the same though. But the apps are gone, I cannot see them in search, in usage, in itunes they are nowhere to be seen. I tried resetting my home screen, and resetting my iPhone again to no avail.
I have searched for hours for a similar issue, but can't find any at all. I have an iPhone 4S running 5.1.1. I know I can restore from iCloud/iTunes, but this is unacceptable they wiped for no reason whatsoever. Anyone else seen this before?.

We've got this issue: The export to CSV option (from the workspace) disappears after a while!... Restarts helps, but I cant restart all the time!.
Any ideas?

When I updated iPhoto, many of my photos disappeared. The events are still there but no photos in them. How do I get it back?

When I updated iPhoto to iPhoto 9.5, many of my events with the photos disappeared. The "events" are still there but there is nothing inside. I have been unsuccessful in trying to get the photos back. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

And if the iPhoto first aid does not resolve things download iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - and use its rebuild command to create a totally new library leaving the current one untouched if you still need it

DNS Host(A) records disappear after a while

Hi all,
a few weeks ago we started to change the TCP/IP configuration of our printers from "static" to DHCP with reservations. The DHCP server is configured to register forward Host(A) and reverse PTR record on DNS on behalf of (all) clients, both are W2K3 with SP2.
This works well for all our Toshiba printers/copiers and most of our HP printers. However, on a handful of HP printers the Host(A) record in the DNS zone get lost / disappeard after some time, leading into a non working name resolution. But only the Host(A) record, the reverse PTR record is still there. Currently we have this issue with Business InkJet 2800 attached via a JetDirect J3258G to our network.
In the past we noticed, that on another printer the Host(A) record re-appears after some hours, only to disappear after a while again. These intervals last some hours up to one day, but seem to follow no period or schedule, like DHCP lease time, DNS scavening etc.
I have intentionally not "listed" all the technical details in this first post. However, if you need specific details I will be happy to share them.
Any hint or comment is appreciated

In Windows Phone 8.1 you haev the notification center.
In Windows 8 you have nothing like that.
The good news is Windows 10 Preview has a notification center similar to the one available in Windows Phone 8.1.
In alternative you have the application tile which will present the number of notifications you have not tapped (with some extra development you can get this tile to display the information you have on the image above).

But once again, I do not want to lose my other texts, app progress, and photos. I could sync the photos but i would still lose the app progress and texts. I would only restore if it was the only option left, but the other space, as already stated, isnt the main concern. The main concern is those 'deleted' texts. If they go, then a good size chunk of the other space goes. I know you CAN delete texts for good. It worked fine before. All i want to know is why its not working for me now, and how to fix it.
I also know that when you delete texts on your iphone, they get marked for deletion, however they stay on your device (thats why they show up when you search for them.) then when you sync your device with itunes, the texts marked for deletion should disappear. When i synced they didnt disappear. Thats what i need an explanation/solution for. Why the texts marked for deletion didnt get fully deleted after the sync.

If the songs are still on your ipod, make sure autosync is disabled in iTunes on your computer, connect and right click on it in the device list, then choose "transfer purchases" to copy all bought media and apps from your ipod to your computer.
If the songs are not on your computer and got deleted from your ipod as well, you can't get them back, unless you have a backup of your iTunes library as part of your computer backup.

It depends on your Mail Preferences Accounts Mailbox Behaviour settings. If your settings for the Comcast mail account are somethikng like this you would find them in your Mail Trash folder and then you would simply move them back to the correct folders. If you had not activated the Trash option for deleted messages and they are also no longer on the Comcast server, then they are probably erased from your system. Using the Trash option gives you some breathing room in case you accidentally or mistakenly delete messages.
Look in your Mail folder in a Finder window. Click on Home, open the Library folder and then open the Mail folder. Would be nice if there’s something there to recover but I don’t think so.

Have you upgraded to iPhoto 9.6 for compatibility with Yosemite? If not, try that first.
It looks like iPhoto has lost the connection between the thumbnails and the original image files.
This can be caused by a corrupted iPhoto library, or the originals have been deleted or moved.
Try first to rebuild your iPhoto Library:
If you do not have a current backup of the iPhoto library, make a copy of the library, but do not overwrite any previous backup.
Launch iPhoto with the ⌥⌘-key combination (option-command) held down.
Select "rebuild" from the first aid panel. This may take a while for a large library.
Can you now see your photos again?
If not, rebuild the library with iPhoto Library manager as described by Old Toad: Re: iphoto crashed

Mail has disapeared but the data is still there

When I try to read a new message Mail has started to give me a message saying that the message has not been downloaded, and the account has to be taken online to be read. However, the account is online. And, no messages old or new can be read. Not just in that mailbox, but in all the mailboxes.
When this happens, the only thing that lets me see my messages is to quit and reopen Mail. However, once this starts happening, it begins to happen more and more.
As if that was not enough, when this happened this morning, I clicked "Rebuild" mailbox. All of the thousands of e-mails in that particular mail box are now gone. It shows zero mail.
When I look at the m.box for that mail folder, it shows that it contains 675 MB, so I know the data is still there.
1. How do I recover the missing mail?
2. How do I stop Mail from giving me the "cannot retrieve mail, need to take the account online" message?

Welcome to the Discussions. Your messages should not be lost, and we should be able to recover them, fully.
This message was once almost exclusively the result of truly Overstuffed Mailboxes. However in Tiger, after conversion of Panther (or earlier) mailboxes, it also results from the presence of certain leftover files.
If your mailboxes, or at least some of them, originated in Panther, or earlier, I want you to read the article at the link below, and perhaps get back to me with some observations, before attempting any changes:

This issue of leftover files applies not only to mailboxes you have previously created (which are in the Mailboxes folder the article mentioned) but can also apply to those mailboxes in account folders created prior to the upgrade to Tiger.
Also, please report the size of each file or folder. Do not, however, try to list the files that are within the folder named Messages, that is found in each and every mailbox. It is very important to compare the size of any file named "mbox" with that of the Messages folder. If the mbox is greater in size than the Messages folder, then not all messages have been converted to be in the Messages folder. If you have been using these mailboxes for a long time in Tiger, then incomplete conversion when Tiger was installed may not be an issue.
The path to the Mail folder is Home/Library/Mail -- within the Mail folder are one or more account folders and the Mailboxes folder.
How long have you been using Mail 2.0 following upgrade of the OSX?
There are major structural differences in mailboxes, between Panther and Tiger. There are numerous topics about issues surrounding conversion of mailboxes to Tiger and Mail 2.0, from earlier versions. One of them -- the lengthy topic at the link below may also assist you:

This is my boilerplate respone for the "waiting apps" problem. Give these suggestions a try in order.
1. Tap the "waiting" icon and see if you can pause it. If it does pause, then tap it again and see if it will resume. If that works, repeat the same steps for each "waiting" icon.
2. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
3. Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first.
4. If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
5. You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again. Apps may also be able to be deleted in Settings>General>Usage>Storage if you cannot get the X to pop up on the icon.
6. You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
7. If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

Can you send any emails at all indicating that the mail app is working? Did you try any basic stuff yet?

Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

Thanks. I think I'm going to try and revert my old 3GS to factory settings, put my last back up on it and manually enter all my phone numbers. I'm too worried about messing everything up! FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary.

The reminders disappear after a while. The event/date is still there, but the registered reminder isn't.
