The remote computer could not be found

Guys,
Im having this error message pop up when I launch a remoteapp from an external network through the rd web access page. On the deployment settings I have the gateway setting to "automatically detect rd gateway server settings". This always givves
me this error regardless of whether I edit the rdweb access application settings and add the defaultTSGateway : External FQDN.
If I switch the rd gateway settings in deployment proprties to "Use this rd gateway server setting" : external FQDN it works fine.
can someone tell me why? how does the automatically detect rd gateway server setting work and if it's even supposed to work if I am accessing apps externally?

Hi,
You should select Use these RD Gateway server settings in most cases. Automatically detect is for when the client PCs are domain-joined and you have specified the RD Gateway settings using group policy.

Firstly please provide some more information from your side.
1. Does the other user can able to work properly without any issue?
2. Did you install the RD gateway role to allow the external user to access the internal resource? If so, please help to make sure you configure the FQDN for the RD gateway, and the external users can resolve this name on the internet.
3. Can you telnet the RD host server (like telnet server name 3389) to check whether the RD host server is available for another server?
4. Did you try to temporarily disable all of firewall and anti-virus to test if this issue persists?
You can configure RD Web Access behavior on IIS manager as per below.
IIS Manager Console > Default Web Site > RDWeb > Pages > Application Settings > DefaultTSGateway > add the "FQDN of the Remote Desktop Gateway"
After finishing all above steps, please launch the RemoteApp again to see if the same issue still exists. For more information, you can refer beneath article.

Remote Computer could not be found?

I have setup a Web Access RemoteApp server on Server 2008 R2 and it is no longer letting anyone connect to apps or use remote desktop from the outside. If I try to run any apps or try to RDP from the Web Access site it tries to launch but then I get a "The Remote Computer could not be found" error. It was working earlier today, I was able to launch applications from home but it now gives me that error.
Setup is as follows: All TS roles are installed on TSserver except the virtualization host since this is not a Hyper-V server. All the consoles show no issues, I have everything pointing to TSserver. I have an external site setup (remote.domain.com) and it is working. I can get to the site fine, apps populate fine and overall there are no issues there. If I go to the RemoteApp server internally I can launch applications and rdp without a problem. It's just externally that they're not working.
I admit I'm new to all these new TS roles and just started setting this all up. But I can't figure out why this was working earlier today and now is not. The only changes I made were a redirect for IIS (so that users only have to type in remote.domain.com instead of https://remote.domain.com/rdweb) and I installed a new application (though a co-worker said he started getting that error before I installed that program).
What should I be looking at to resolve this? The fact that it works internally and that I can get to the site externally makes me think it's some small setting I'm missing. With so many different management consoles to look through it's a little difficult to pinpoint what's wrong.

Simple sharing of credentials between RD Gateway and RDS server can be enabled by doing the following :
On the RD Session Host server, open RemoteApp Manager. To open RemoteApp Manager, click Start, point to Administrative Tools, point to Remote Desktop Services, and then click RemoteApp Manager.
In the Actions pane of RemoteApp Manager, click RD Gateway Settings. (Or, in the Overview pane, next to RD Gateway Settings, click Change.)
Select the Use these RD Gateway server settings.
In the Logon box, select the Ask for password (NTLM).
Select the Use the same user credentials for RD Gateway and RD Session Host server check box.
Click OK to close the RemoteApp Deployment Settings dialog box.

So I got an aircard Novatel P720. It was working fine for months. Then I installed a VPN connection. Now, I get this error.

Most of of what I found recommends uninstalling the WAN Miniport (IP), it seems that I have to go thru so many hoops to get this fixed. Wondering if I would be better off rebuilding my machine from scratch again. Is there an patch or another way to get me going.
I think this is an old issue. Lots of comments on this thru Google. I am hoping I can get a definative answer from Lenovo's itself!

Well, seeing since your having an Issue with a non Lenovo product. I dont think your going to get an official answer from Lenovo. You may get suggestions however.

Windows VPN: Error 720 - A connection to the remote computer could not be established

Dear all
I have a windows7 Laptop 64bit Dell 1340.
I was working with a UMTS card, was connected with a VPN to a windows 2003 server over PPTP and experienced a bluescreen. After this, I have the following errors when connecting to the VPN:
"Registering your computer on the network... Error 720: A connection to the remote computer could not be established. You might need to change the network settings for this connection"
and in the event view I receive the following:
EventID: 1, Source RasSstp
CoId={A3478DFD-FFA4-4E8F-9DA3-CE829BDA777B}:The initial Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol request could not be successfully sent to the server. This can be due to network connectivity issues or certificate (trust) issues. The detailed error message is provided below. Correct the problem and try again.
I tried to use the Rarepair.exe tool but it looks to work only on windows xp. I deleted the IP and TCP settings without any luck.
I run a registry cleaner as well with out any luck.
Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Since it worked previously, a quick solution is to run System Restore and get back to the previous status when the issue didn’t occur.
If system restore doesn’t help, please also try the following:
1. Check if you can establish the VPN via other connections except the connection through the UMTS card.
2. Reset the PPTP and L2TP WAN miniport with running the following commands one by one in an elevated command prompt:
Netcfg -u MS_L2TP
Netcfg -u MS_PPTP
Netcfg -l %windir%\inf\netrast.inf -c p -i MS_PPTP
Netcfg -l %windir%\inf\netrast.inf -c p -i MS_L2TP
Then reboot the computer and see how it works.

Trying to set up Blackberry Torch for laptop tethering...bluetooth. I have connection/drivers/etc. but keep getting error message: "Error 720: A connection to the remote computer could not be established. You might need to change the network settings for this connection." Where and what do I chancge setting to so this will work?
I have synched my phone and laptop wirelessly across other internet connection....just cant get this above to work. Anybody know how to fix this? Thanks!

For this issue,I would like to know your VPN protocol.
Did you use Windows in-built VPN client?
I think the issue is related to your security software or Firewall.
Let’s temporarily disable other security software and Windows firewall to check if that helps.
If it doesn't work, please uninstall the third-party security software or firewall to test it.
Also, please check your event view to see if there are some related error in it.

VPN ERROR 619 :: A connection to the remote computer could not be established, so the port used for this connection was closed

I have been searching endlessly for this issue. Every time I try to connect to a VPN connection I get the error above. Thank you for any relevant input concerning this matter. My NIC is Qualcomm Atheros and I'm in Win8.1 x64.

turn off your antivirus and firewall, update the latest VPN client software, if still not working go to security settings and change the VPN type automatic to PPTP. And also change data encryption configuration to Optional and select CHAP & MS-CHAP v2.
If still not working try with other internet connection and try to contact your VPN provider

I can no longer play my music from iTunes on my computer. i get the error prompt: The song (name) could not be used because the original file could not be found. What do I do?

not sure what to add other than to repeat myself. ive lost ability to play music from my iTunes library on my computer. Everything is there but i get an error message that says '"The song (name) could not be found. Would you like to locate it? Then it gives me the option to locate or cancel. i can't do that for 3800 songs!! i have all my music in separate folders by album and all individual selections in an external hard drive. i can play from there but thats clicking on one number at a time. i lost my capability in the process of Microsoft correcting a problem with my outlook program. This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

Because the location for each song in your library is on your hard drive. If the hard drive isn't there, how can iTunes play it?
You'll have to move/copy the music from your hard drive to your computer's hard drive.
Basically, EASIEST way to do all this, if you don't care about your play counts, etc...
-Delete EVERYTHING from iTunes, so that your library is now empty.
-Go to "Advanced" inside of the "Preferences" window, found in the "Edit" drop-down. You can also access Preferences by pressing Ctrl+, (Press Ctrl and the comma key)
-Change your iTunes Media Folder Location to something simple, but on your computer. I use C:/iTunes. Make sure "Keep iTunes Media Folder Organized" and "Copy files to...." are both checked. You can close Preferences now.
-Now, drag and drop your music from your hard drive into your iTunes library. iTunes will automatically add the music to your library, as you would expect, and also creates a copy of each file to place into that iTunes Media Folder you just created.

Error message when trying to play music on computer states The song ... could not be used because the original file could not be found. However, my library shows how many items and the GBs used. How do I locate the files?

When I try to play my iTunes music on my computer, an error message comes up and state "The song (title of song) could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?
When I click on Locate It, I cannot find where the music file may be located. Does anyone have any suggestions?
This all occurred when I attempted to do a backup to an external hard drive. Unbeknownest to me, the files did not copy over and do not appear on the external hard drive.
When I open my iTunes library, at the bottom of my music list it shows how many songs and the GBs, so it appears that the files are still there; however, cannot be located.

When tracks in iTunes display a it means the file cannot be located; it may have been moved or deleted. You'll have to locate the file manually if it is still available. For more information refer to the following article:

I have a new computer that downloaded all of my playlist. but i cannot play all songs. i get a error that say "the song could not be used because the original file could not be found. would you like to locate it? but it does not help to resolve.

i installed itunes to my new computer and transfered all my playlist from the older computer. the software came with the new computer hp link up. the problem

The file path for these songs IS NOT correct per your iTunes Library file.

You will need to locate where you itunes library is and then relink one of the songs, itunes will do the rest. So if your itunes library is on an external hard drive or something like that. When you get the error message click yes you would like to locate it. then navigate to the external hard drive where the itunes libray is and locate that particular song. Once you have linked one, itunes will ask if you would like it to locate the rest, click yes and it will find the rest of the files if they are in the same location.
