The replacement for my first generation iPod Nano is not detected in iTunes.

I've barely used this Nano that I've received as a replacement and now it isn't recognized by either Windows or iTunes.  The website states that the warranty has expired on this unit.  If this is the type of quality that is to be expected from your products, I don't even know if it is worth trying to obtain a repair under warranty.  Hopefully, this comes to the attention of someone who is able to do something about it.  I like your designs, but the quality needs to match as well.  Thank you for your time.

  • My computer says it does not recognize the cable for my 7th generation ipod nano

Whenever I connect my ipod nano to my computer a message appears that says, "USB device not recognized; the last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it". I have already installed the latest edition of Itunes and any recent Windows updates, and none of the support steps from the Apple site seem to be helping. The Itunes program and the rest of the computer appear to be working just fine. My computer is a HP laptop that is about 1 year old, and I use Windows 8. The ipod nano also doesn't even turn on, although it is likely that it is simply not charging when it is plugged in. Is there any way to solve this?

    I have the same problem

  • 7th Generation iPod Nano will not connect to iTunes after iTunes 11.1.4.62 update

I updated iTunes to the 11.1.4.62 version last night. Now, when I connect my iPod Nano 7th gen device, iTunes gives me a message stating that an iPod has been connected but could not be indentifed properly, try reconnecting, unistall then reinstall iTunes, blah blah. Tried all that and none of it works. iPod worked fine on this computer on iTunes until this update. Windows 8.1 system.

  • Ipod nano does not appear in itunes

My 7th generation iPod nano does not appear in iTunes on a Windows 8 PC since installing the 11.1.4.62 update.  I have now tried every step from the recommended KB:  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363 with no relief.  Windows sees the iPod just fine...

Same problem. Also Windows 8... There is no problem at all with a Windows 7 computer.

  • I have two iPods, one from the fourth generation and another one that must be from the first generation iPod nano. Can I trade them both in?

I have two iPods, one IPod touch from the fourth generation and another one that must be from the first generation iPod nano. Can I trade them both in?
    The Fourth generation- 16GB
    First generation-4GB

Apple does not have a "trade in" program for iPods, other than the recycling program that gives you a 10% discount on a new iPod (at an Apple Retail Store).

There are some third-party (non-Apple) companies that provide compensation for old iPods.  You can also sell them yourself on eBay.

  • Do all first generation ipod nano's prebuffer the next track?

do all first generation ipod nano's prebuffer the next track?
have they always? the first gen that is.
what i mean by prebuffer is does the firmware load the next track in memory as the current track is being played ?

As far as I know, the flash memory used in the nano is one big buffer.
It doesn't work like hd based iPods where the songs are pre-loaded into a 32mb (or 64mb) buffer and played from there.

  • I accidentally press Off  the Backlight in my 3rd generation  iPod Nano, how can I turn On the Backlight again?

I accidentally press Off the Backlight in my 3red generation iPod Nano, how can I turn it On again? Appreciate any help. Thanks.

What do you mean you turned off the backlight?  How did you do that?
Have you tried a hard reset to see if that takes care of it?  To this, first make sure the hold switch is in the Off position, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

a friend told me that if I give my first-generation iPod nano can renew it, that's true?
    please respond quickly

What are you talking about? You can't "renew" an iPod. You also cannot trade it in to Apple. Apple will recycle it for you and give you a 10% discount on the purchase price of a new one.

  • Hello! I have a first generation Ipod Nano!

Hello! I have a first generation Ipod Nano! Unfortunately he is not working as it used to, in this regard, I would like to clarify: Can I change it at the official Apple store, a new one? If so, how much will it cost? (no money to buy a new Ipod, and I would like to change to the new surcharge).
    In advance, thank you!

At an Apple Store they will give you 10% off the price of an new one if you recycle your old one.
But if you have a 1st Generation iPod you need to go this route: http://www.apple.com/support/ipodnano_replacement/

So, your iPhone (and new shuffle) still work properly with iTunes, correct?
Your 1st gen shuffle... It's the white one with USB plug, that looks like a USB flash drive...?
Are you able to see it in Windows, and maybe change the drive letter back to E:?

  • HT204302 My ipod nano is not recognized in itunes on my computer, when it has in the past. How do I fix this?

My ipod nano is not recognized in itunes on my computer, when it has in the past. How do I fix this problem?

I would think, Twins1995, that if we are having the problem, others are as well. Hopefully, Apple will shortly issue a follow-up software release to fix the problem. Or is that just wishful thinking on my part.
It would be helpful, if there were some kind of work-around in the interim, so we can use our devices. Pretty frustrating when you consider that all of the hardware and software is produced by Apple.

  • Ipod Nano icon not showing in  itunes and I've tried everything suggested

My ipod nano is not showing in itunes and I've tried everything that has been suggested by Apple.  I updated iTunes, I've reset the ipod.  I just want to download my songs!  Help! Please and Thank you.

Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
