The report is always printed in landscape

We have a VB6 application that uses CR 9 to print reports. When we launch reports to screen, and then to the printer, there is no problem and report orientation is as we design. But if we launch the report directly to a specific printer (Kyocera 250ci KX), the report is printed with landscape orientation. This error doesn't appear with the rest of applications.

When it is printed Landscape, is the page truncated on the bottom?  In other words, is the data on the page expecting to be printed in Portrait mode, but is coming out landscape, or are page footers showing on the landscape page?
If the later, then I'm suspecting some setting in the application that is causing the landscape printing, as the page lengths are correct.
If the former, then I'd guess that there's something screwy with the printer itself.  (Can you print anything on that printer in Portrait orientation?)

Carl

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 Always Prints in Landscape (OSX)

My HP 8610 runs on a Mac OSX and I cannot figure out how to get it to print in a portrait format.  It ALWAYS prints in landscape.  I've looked through every setting, etc., has to be something easy.  I tend to use the Firefox browser when printing.
    Thanks!

  • CRVS2010 Beta 2 - report does not print in Landscape mode correctly

I am using Crystal Reports Beta 2 for Visual Studio 2010 on Windows XP. I am trying to print a report in landscape mode. The WPF Crystal Report Viewer displays the report correctly in landscape view. When I print it, it moves all the data to the center of the page, prints it in smaller font and to the left and cuts off a lot of the data on the right hand side.
I have tried various different suggested solutions from reading other forums and nothing seems to work. Is this a known Crystal Report Viewer issue?
    Solutions I have already tried:
    1. Page setup under Crystal Reports - selected no printer (optimize for screen display)
    2. Page setup under Crystal Reports - checked dissociate formatting page size and printer paper size
    3. Setting paper orientation and page orientation at run-time to landscape.
    4. Printing to different printers
Something to note, I can export this report as a .pdf file and it prints perfectly from adobe. This only seems to be an issue when printing directly from the WPF Crystal Report Viewer to the printer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have been stuck on this issue for a while...
    Thanks!

    Hi Sharon,
There have been issues with printing and printers in CR 2008 and the same routines are in CR 2010. The patches we have done to help with standard paper sizes in CR 2008 are not in the Beta releases.
Not sure if they will make it into the GA release next month. As a work around I suggest you continue exporting to PDF and then printing the PDF file until they have been resolved and patches are available.
    Thank you

  • Report won't print in Landscape

    Hello all,
I have a report that was created and published as a Landscape report.  However when I go to print it from the Crystal Report ActiveX Viewer it wants to print it as Portrait.  This problem seems to be intermittant.  Sometimes and from some computers it will print correctly.  Most of the time it wont.  I went onto the Business Objects XI Enterprise Server and changed the Print Setup for the report to Custom Settings | Landscape | Letter, but it didn't help.  Also, when it does print incorrectly I get this message:
    Crystal Report Viewer
The report you are about to print is a pre-formatted image of the actual report data.  Changing orientation or paper size may result in loss of objects on each printed page.  Do you wish to continue?
    Any ideas?

Just curious, when you say intermittent, do you mean on the same computer ?  or that it runs on some computers but not on others ?  (Might want to check graphics resolution on the target PC and see if mucking with that solves anything)

  • Report to be printed in Landscape format....

    Hi ,
I have developed a report whose width (length from the left side... to right side , using a ruler) is 19,5cm at portrait......
The same report at landscape using a ruler is 15cm in width..... There are margins to both sides ....
The report was printed in A4 page size (portrait, landscpape) afterwards it was generated to PDF file... In other words , i generated the report to PDF file , i printed it in portrait , landspace and then i used a ruler to find out what is the width of each printing type.....
Why is this difference...??? Is there i can do in Report Builder for this report ....????
    I use Dev Report10g.....
    Many thanks,
    Sim

It seems that the key to the solution is to shrink the margins.....
    Greetings,

  • The app is always inverted in landscape mode on Fire OS

Hello. I've recently submitted several apps made in AIR on the Amazon Store, but they were rejected because of the following problem : "App is always inverted in landscape mode". This problem appears only on the Amazon devices which use Fire OS. What can I do about this. Does anyone have a solution? Or is it something that should by Adobe and should appear in an update of AIR?

it is quite a shame....how come they did not think about that ? that's silly

  • HP LaserJet P2055dn that is on the network doesnt always print all pages in print job

We have 4 of these printers on our network. It is very sporadic but when users print they do not always get all of the pages from the print job. Sometimes the additional pages will come 30 - 40 minutes after print job was processed sometimes they don't ever come. I have watched the print jobs go to the print server and then to the local print queue and it looks like everything prints although there are sometimes these lingering pages that do not come out (or come out at a later time). There are not other documents being printed at the time so that is not the issue. Has anyone else seen this? Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

oh, my! That was so long ago. But, if i recall correctly, when i pulled off the top of the printer, there was a very small wire with a plastic connector on the end that had pulled appart when i removed the top. I probably had to use tweezers in order to reconnect it.  sorry for the foggy details, but that is what resides upstairs these days! good luck.

  • Unable to print the report after SP2 (CR 2008 / VS 2008)?

    I'm developing an ASP.NET application using VS 2008 (Framework 3.5). I have installed CR 2008 with SP (0, 1, and 2).
I created an invoice report and I printed it as test for the report and it works okay. I needed to change the page size of the report to a user defined size and reset all of the margins to zero.
After I did that I was unable to print the report again and every time I tried to print the report nothing gets printed.
I checked my environment to find the cause of this problem but I found nothing except that I'm using CR runtime for SP1 and I'm currently using SP2. So I did remove CR runtime for SP1 and install CR runtime for SP2.
The problem didn't go away and I faced one more problem.
Usually I'm using a dataset as a data source for my reports. After installing the CR runtime for SP2 I couldn't see any date column in my report data source (Dataset). All other types of columns appear except date fields! Why I have no Idea?
After I do some more testing regarding my issue I found out the following
    1.     When I add a new report to my web application and I don't change the page setting the report work fine.
    2.     When I change the page setup settings (Page Margins, horizontal width and vertical height) the report show up okay but never gets printed.
    Why I don't know?
Addition to that the report dataset (Data Source) showing in the field explorer never shows any date type field?
All of the above issues happened with me after installing SP2.
    OS: WindowsXP Pro SP3
    CR 2008 (SP 0, 1, 2)
    VS 2008 SP1
    Please I need your help.

    Hi, Sami;
Are you printing from the Crystal preview window, or in code?
If you are printing from the preview window, try printing via code, such as:
An example of print to printer:
    crReportDocument = New ReportDocument
    crReportDocument.Load("h:\labels2.rpt")
''Use error handling in case an error occurs
    Try
''Set the printer name to print the report to. By default the sample
''report does not have a defult printer specified. This will tell the
''engine to use the specified printer to print the report. Print out
''a test page (from Printer properties) to get the correct value.
    crReportDocument.PrintOptions.PrinterName = "
    dwcb12003\ZDesigner ZM400 200 dpi (ZPL)"
''Start the printing process. Provide details of the print job
    ''using the arguments.
    crReportDocument.PrintToPrinter(1, True, 1, 1)
Please post your question about the dataset as a new post.

  • Error While Printing the Report

    Post Author: saqib
    CA Forum: .NET
HI All,I have joined this forum recently. I found this forum so helpful. I have one query which is: I am using crystal report 10 with Dot Net 1.1, I have created one web report which consists of 19 pages. Once i press the print button on the report after previewing it shows me the error reporting screen of windows. I have checked in event viewer it gives me the following error detail:The description for Event ID ( 1000 ) in Source ( Microsoft Internet Explorer ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: iexplore.exe, 6.0.2800.1106, printcontrol.dll, 10.0.0.533, 0003bb45. Can any one helps me as i am totally stuck in that. Thanks in advance.

Try the following if your printer is a network printer
    1. Add Printers - select Local Printer
    2. In the Add Printer wizard, select "create a new port" option and select "TCP/IP" as type
    3. Write the IP address of the network printer in the "Add standard TCP/IP Printer Port wizard". The port name becomes IP_<ip addr>. Click Next.
    4. Select the printer and printer type in "Add Printer" wizard.
    5. Select a driver and Write a printer name. This completes the setup. Use this printer name to print from Oracle reports.
    Hope this helps..

the request could not be submitted for backgroud processing.
    how to handle the issue.

do the two users who can not print, have the same printer types installed as those that the report does print on ?  (May need to add a NEW printer definition to the failing computers, and see if the report works)

  • How to know the report has already been sent to printer?

    Dear All,
I have one problem to check that the report has been printed on paper through a printer after user already previewed and pressed Printer button. Is there any parameter will be sent back from system to inform the program? Please suggest me if you have developed or solved this problem.

Yes. I ran the code example and it ran successfully.
So if we wanna generate report by java code, we should use the code as a http client to access report server to do it.
I think we could use url http://server:port/reports/rwservlet/showjobid to know the status of generating report (i.e. successful or failed).
And one more question is that could I get the jobid by any url as soon as I generate my report?
    Thanks a lot.
    Best Regards.

  • Directly Printing the Reports Output to a Printer in 10g.

    Hi All,
We need to print directly from the reports to a printer. How it can be achieved?
i.e Reports running in client machine and when I hit the Run Button in my form the report runs. Similarly the report output should be printed to the printer attached to the Server PC where reports server is running.
How this can be achieved without much of complication. We have achieved this changing the existing servlet of report which does this. But is it possible to achieve this on other ways too.
Appreciate early responses and awaiting for it.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Many Thanks. I checked the URL its very descriptive and helpful.
Meanwhile when i try to configure printer from the application server it asks for the network userid and password. What is that which i should provide? Either its the local user account of that PC or the administrator user on which the oracle services run.
    Please clarify.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Report column footer print after report footer

I have a report which has column footer and report footer.
The column footer always print in the bottom of the page and it happens the report has half page then report footer print before column footer.
I would like to know is it possible to have column footer just after last detail line print and report footer print after column footer which is more professinal report format,
Your help and information is great appreciated,

It is not possible to change the order in which the footers print.
To achieve what you want, do not use the "column footer" band. Create a dummy report group and use that group's footer, which will always print before the "report footer".
