The right mouse button on my 8740w has failed (clicks but no result, i.e Cut/Copy/Paste/Delete menu
My right mouse button clicks but no result, i.e Cut/Copy/Paste/Delete menu does not appear.
I think the hardware has failed.
Note the mousepd is not the issue. The right button is the problem
Left button works fine
Same deal with me except the right button has failed twice. You may find that if you push on it past the click with a bit more force it will respond. They swapped the hardware and same thing occurred.
HP should be ashamed that they would put such awful mouse hardware on its flagship product. Whoever designed it should be fired.
If HP had any customer loyalty they would offer a hardware update and offer it to those who are still under warranty.
Suffice to say I will never, ever purchase an HP workstation again.

[SOLVED] Thunar 1.6 doesn't drag-and-drop with the right mouse button
Hallo all.
It might be something I've done (though I did delete my ~/.config/Thunar directory before upgrading), but Thunar doesn't let me drag-and-drop with the right mouse button, thus stopping me from copying something instead of moving it, etc. Has anyone else had that too?

Microsoft Windows, Nautilus, the Haiku Tracker, and probably many other file managers have a feature where, when you right-click or middle-click and drag an icon to a new location, a pop-up menu appears and asks what you'd like to do (Move, Copy, Link). I thought I used to use this feature in Thunar too but it seems to have stopped working in recent versions. Has anyone else had any experience with it?

For some reason photoshop CC doesn't respond to the right mouse button that is on my tablet pen.
It's strange because it does work for illustrator CC, so why would photoshop CC not respond to it?

This also happened in Windows XP which I was using until recently.
The Yahoo mail menu is there but the Firefox menu is on top of it. I tried Firefox safe mode with everything disabled and the problem still happened. I tried Yahoo mail in IE 9 and the right mouse button works correctly.Can you attach a screenshot?

I recently downloaded firefox to my new laptop. I can not open the bookmarks tab or use any of the right mouse button options.Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.

If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.

Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

You can double click on the selected object to get into the multilevel isolation mode.

The right click menu pops up after I push the right mouse button, instead of when I release it.
I am using an extension All-In-One Gestures. It works on my other installation of Firefox 4 - particularly, the right-click menu pops up if I click right mouse button and then release it so I can perform gesture or turn the wheel instead of getting a right click menu.
But on this installation (basically the same addons and OS), the right-click menu pops up on pushing down the right mouse button so the right-button+wheel gestures do not work, and the menu stays there while I am performing the gesture which is rather annoying.
So I though maybe there is some obscure configuration option to toggle to make right-click menu pop up after the button release? Or is this entirely the extension's fault? Note that it does work as expected on other installation...You have to enable in Firefox
-> Options -> Content -> Activate JavaScript (yes) -> More
-> Allow scripts the following actions
-> Inactivate or replace context menu (yes)
in order to allow All-in-one-Gesture to block the immediate appearance of the context menu.
If you forbid Firefox JavaScript and/or the manipulation of the context menu by use of JavaScript, All-in-one-Gesture cannot work properly. -

Hi there. I'm having a problem with my external hard drive. Actually with only one of them (others seem to be ok...). The problem is that when clicking the right mouse button (or using other ways to do the same), in the drop-down list there isn't an option for "create new folder". Please, can anyone help with this issue?
The drive is NTFS formated. Most probably that's the reason, but there is some info on the drive which I wouldn't like to loose. If there is a way to re-format the drive and save the files, that would be great. If there isn't such a way, then please, tell me how to re-format it. But bear in mind as well that I'm using Parellels and the drive is to be used in Mac and Win modes, both. Just to add some more info: my other drive is FAT32 formated and all seems to go well with it.

How to hide cut/copy/paste/Replace… menu on the UIWebView when it is being displayed over the keyboard.
Detail: I am having a HTML from, having text box, displayed using UIWebView. If user types in text box it shows the keyboard. Now If user tap and hold on text box it shows a popup menu. Now while keyboard and pop up are being displayed user scrolls the view. At this time it shows pop up over the keyboard which I need to hide.
I tried setMenuVisible of UIMenuController when popup rect and keyboard rect intersects each other on viewDidScroll but it didn't help me.
Any clues will help a lot.

Difficult to control the right mouse button.
If left mouse button clicks on the cell of a table, it works fine. After that, the target sometimes will move to the next cell automatically, then if I want to right mouse button click on the previous cell, it doesn't work since the target can't move back to the previous cell unless left mouse button clicks it again. Can I just keep the target doesn't move to another cell unless the mouse clicks it? Any ideas?? Thanks a lot!!

Right mouse button with the trackpad
I read that on the 17 inch MBP there's an option to imitate the right mouse button by clicking when having two fingers on the trackpad (instead of Ctrl-click). Can anybody say whether this is something unique to 17 inch MBP hardware or whether we can also get it to work on the 15.4 inch MBP's?

Apple will not have updated the OS revision number for the newer systems.
What they do, is update the "Build" of the OS version.
For example, when the iMac G5 came out, there was a custom "Build" version released with that machine (only on that machine).
Then, when the second version and 3rd versions were released, they again released custom build revisions for those machines.
These custom "builds" are essentially the latest OS available with a couple of tweaks to enable new features unique to that machine.
So, what they would see is a different "Build" number than the build number on the 15-inch systems.
This number can be found by clicking on "About this Mac" in the Apple Menu. Then, click once on the "Version 10.4.6" line where it is displayed in the box. The "Version 10.4.6" line will then change to a line that reads "Build XXXXX". On my Mac Mini with the retail 10.4.6 installed, it says "Build 8I127".
Clicking on the build number will then display your computer's serial number. Clicking on the serial number will then switch back to displaying Version 10.4.6.
This Build number will likely be different on machines released after 10.4.6 was available to reflect customizations to 10.4.6 that are unique to that machine.
Keep in mind that the build number also changes with each update to OS 10.4.x that you install using software update. So, this build number will only be helpful if you check it before any updates are applied. -
Using right mouse button as secondary button
I have just received a replacement Apple wired mighty mouse because I couldn't get the right mouse button to work as a Secondary button. However, I have exactly the same problem with the new mouse!
I am using the latest update to OS X 10.4.8, with the latest firmware in my Intel Mac Mini.
Strangely enough, if I reverse the buttons, i.e. set the right button to Primary, and the left button to Secondary, the Secondary button works fine. In all cases both buttons work fine as Primary buttons. Any ideas why the right button won't work as a secondary please? Has anybody else had this problem?Doh! Thank you, thank you. After two replacement mice and many calls to Apple technical supprt, you have found the problem in two minutes It's a little strange having to wave the left finger about in the air while using the right button though - not a very ergonomic design.

DoDragDrop oddity with Right Mouse Button

More experimentation - today with Drag & Drop.
Everything seems fine when performing this with the left mouse button, but when initiating this from WPF
with the right mouse button it appears to trigger the PreviewDrop event on the originating object.
I've tried intercepting QueryContinueDragHandler, which is fired and is having an Action set of Continue - all to no avail.
Much time with google shows no examples of people using the right mouse button with DoDragDrop, and a single query on this forum in September with someone having a similar problem. No replies to that thread - hopeing for more luck today!
So, has anyone successfully initiated a system based Drag/Drop using the right mouse button? In this case I'm working with a ListView, but I suspect that is fairly irrelevant.
Events occuring with Right Mouse Button depressed (and dragging a small way) are:
Call to: System.Windows.DragDrop.DoDragDrop
Callback: DropSource_ContinueDragEventHandler
Callback: DropTarget_PreviewDragEnter
Callback: DropSource_ContinueDragEventHandler

With the Left Mouse Button:

PS: The behaviour is different if dragging something from another application / desktop to a drop target, so it appears to be related to the originating side of things. ie, there is no problem when dragging an object from the desktop or similar.Hmm - seem to have found the problem - it is related to the ContinueDragEventHandler!
Here is a suitable handler for dealing with Left & Right mouse button drags
You can activate it using:

DV6-2177 Right Mouse Button (touchpad) not working.
I've got a dv6-2177, 3 months old and the right mouse button isn't working. When I right click, there is no context menu that shows up. I've reloaded the pointing device drivers but it doesn't solve the problem. Any external mouse that I connect will work fine but the built in right button is useless.
Any idea what the problem is?I have the same issue. It has been driving me nuts for months. I have tried everything, and done a LOT of research. The left click brings on the context menu on the desktop and in a few other instances. The right click does not work AT ALL... even if you try to set it up as a tap-a-touch feature (so it is not the hardware), and also the windows lose focus, until you hit the start menu key, or control alt delete, if it is being really stubborn. I have an HP G7... only 6 months old. HP or Synaptic needs to fix this!! It makes my laptop almost useless and definitely frustrating to use!!
