Believe me I did. The gel case that was fitted did not prevent the LCD screen to break. It fell on its side... I honestly believe there is an issue with the weight/size ratio of the 820. From all the Lumia's only the 520/620 are the 'right' size/weight. I'm sad Nokia does not have a better protection option for the bigger phones. Yesterday I saw a 625 also with cracked screen (another phone that is too big and not properly protected by the lack of Nokia advisories/accessories. Shame, shame, shame. I spent 350+140+100=almost 600 euro for a phone that collects dust on my desk I love windows phone and Nokia, but this made a serious dent in my 'faith'

Lumia 820 Photo Resolution Problem

Hi,
Can anyone help me solve why i cannot change the photo resolution on my Lumia 820?
When i check them on a PC they always come out at either 800x600 on 4:3 ratio or 800x450 on 16:9 ratio.
It's driving me mad there is no option in the photo settings or anywhere else in the phone to change this.
I read on another post that it can be related to skydrive uploading, although I have skydrive disabled and this problem still persists.

How did you download the photos to your pc? Photos uploaded to Skydrive are reduced in resolution by default unless you change the setting to Best Quality which requires wifi. To change this, goto Settings>Applications>photos+camera>Skydrive>Photos> Best quality
Other option to download high res is to connect phone to pc using USB.

Video recording problem lumia 820

Hello, I have the problem with my nokia lumia 820. When I start recording video, in the first few seconds of video freezing and then runs normaly. Can anybody help me?

I had something like this, would do either what you are describing or just generally skip on playback turns out it was a problem with the SD card I had a class 4 when I changed this for a class 10 the problem was solved

I had a Sony Xplod with bluetooth and everything was working fine streaming audio / phone and even the txtings where over the speakers and the Here Drive+ instructions.
Now i bought a "better" heeadunit and the most is working.
i have:
bluetooth for phone including sync for phonebook
streaming for audio
i DONT have:
Voice for naviation ??
txt messages spoken over headunit ??
I tried to reconnect / restart phone / reinstall Drive+ incl voice and maps still nothing.
HELP i need the navigation voice
I tried also both settings for the bluetooth like the advanced switch.

why cant I transfer the music downloaded from the nokia store on my lumia 820 to i tunes??

Is it music you purchased or a free radio mix?
There is no DRM on Nokia music you purchase, You are free to do what you want.
I have synced Nokia Music I have purchased to the PC music library with no problems.

Nokia Firmware 1314 Update for Lumia 820

I am a big fan of Nokia devices. I am currently using Lumia 820, unlocked version in India. My "other" storage has reached to 3GB, and i am left with only 300MB. Everytime i watch you tube videos, the "Other got balooned up.
When the customers in India for Lumia 820 are getting Firmware 1314 update??? Its really URGENT now...

I have just bought this induction charging base in Amazon Germany. I had purchased the Nokia charging cover for my Lumia 820 already last month. But now that I lay down my phone on the base nothing happens. I thought that induction charging couldn't really be a proprietary standard (I mean, it's just basic physics after all!) but now I'm wondering if somehow the Nokia covers are not compatible with other brands of chargers? I'd find that hard to believe...
Has anybody used the wireless charging feature with other brands of chargers? Could there be some option that I need to turn on in my phone that I don't know of?
PS: I also contacted just now the charging base's manufacturer to see if they know of any compatibility issues

The cover is compatible with all wireless chargers that use the Qi Standard. It will not work with wireless chargers that use other standards, for example the old "powermat" chargers.

The one on your link doesn't mention any standards so itt's either like the powermats or proprietary.

When I click on a yahoo news story, about 30 seconds into reading it, the page changes to one that says the page I requested can't be found, and it has a list of search results.

I just upgraded to firefox 4 this morning. My homepage is yahoo.com. If I click the back button, it goes back to the page I was on. It doesn't happen on every one, and I haven't seen a pattern to which sites it happens on. My story about the Blackberry 9320....
I have asked question's about buying a Blackberry for my Mom/Me for personal use from a few people and all very knowable in the IT world, and from one i know who uses a Blackberry as well manage there enterprise. All said it's too much phone to buy for you Mom.....
But as it would have it Mom really needed a new phone and when i saw the 9320 on sale i ask her to have a look at the phone and let me know what you think of it. She did... and just loved phone...the feel..the size..key board..even the white colour.
So the following day i went and bought the white 9320 for her, and really thought i had a challenge on my hands to teach a 76 year old to use the phone. Boy was i and every one i talked wrong about the 9320 being too much phone for her to use.
First off she was very happy to get this Blackberry, and secondly the setup was as easy as easy can get. We logged in to Virgin Account setting applied the new information and with in 5 minis it was updated and live.
Then came the part to show her how to text and use the phone, and in less then an 30 minutes she had the basics and was texting and calling with easy. I wanted to show her more about the use of what it can do and was told, no i want to figure it out myself so i can learn and remember. But Mom's it's a lot of phone and if you get frustrated you may not be too happy. And the answer i got was that's ok i can figure thing's out on my own, and that way i can learn.
With in a few days my 76 year old Mom figured out own her how to do just about anything wanted to do with the 9320, contact's, calendar, texting, bed side clock, tasks, making appointment's attaching photo's to texting, using the documents to go and more all on her.
I was so impressed by how easy and comfortable she felt with the phone i went and bought one for myself.
We both have had a phone before Christmas and tho it was a learning Curve (lol no pun in tended) in the being we both feel very comfortable use it.
This is a great little phone and thought i would sharing this story from these two very happy user's.

I cannot find anywhere how you set speed dial on the Lumia 820? can this be done

@ lynnai41 - You may go to your contact list, select the contact and long press on it .. then select 'pin to start' and the contact tile will be pinned to the home screen. Else, you may search for 3rd Party applications (search for 'speed dial' ) at the MarketPlace.

Doubt about with update Win Phone 8 - Lumia 820

I bought my lumia 820 1 month ago. The OS is 8.0.10211.204, firmware 1232.5957.1308.0001 and my IMEI is 35xxxxxxxxxxxxx.
My device does not identify the new firmware update "... 1314 .." launched a few weeks.
I know that my phone company here in Brazil (VIVO) is the responsible to provide this update, but I wanna know how I can update my celphone without depending my phone company.

In addition to farby's reply, PIN Code protects your SIM card against unauthorised use and is required to access some network-related features. You can set your phone to ask for the PIN code when you switch it on by going to Settings, flick on Applications, tap Phone, and then switch SIM Security ON.
Note: If this is the first time a PIN has been set for the SIM card in your phone, type the PIN code you got from the operator, and then tap Enter. 1234 is a common default PIN for some SIM cards. If the PIN code does not work, contact your mobile operator for the correct default PIN.
If you want to customize or personalize the PIN, you just have to go back to Settings, flick on Applications, tap Phone, with SIM security switched on, tap Change SIM PIN (at the bottom). The new SIM PIN must be 4 to 8 digits long.

My problems with Nokia Lumia 820

I was a big fan of Nokia until two months back when I purchased Nokia Lumia 820. It's been two months and I'm having tough time with the handset.
First it was the heat issue. I know smartphones are tend to get heated up due to processors. But my mobile gets heated up in less than 5 minutes when I play games like real football, wordament and even simple games. I thought I got a bad device out of the box. When I say heated up it's not warm, its hot and uncomfortable hotness. I can't hold my device until the heat subsides. I visited the Nokia care for raising the heat issue but they said they can't do much and updated my mobile to the latest firmware (1308) and asked me to check after the update and the heat issue is still the same. Just when I thought things can't get any worse it did. My mobile has visited Nokia repair factory already twice in less than two months of purchase. The first major problem occurred three weeks back when the display would be switching on and off randomly and finally the mobile got bricked. The screen went blank completely and the device was unresponsive. Along with that complaint I've again raised a complaint about the device getting heated up uncomfortably. 14 days after I submitted my device to Nokia care I got my device back only to find that the screen isn't responsive to touch in the middle within a week's time. The upper part and the lower parts are responsive, it's the middle strip that's not responding to touch.
I've again given my mobile to Nokia care and they have sent it to the repair unit. In two months of my purchase the mobile has spent more than 4 weeks at Nokia repair outlet. It is still undergoing repair in the Nokia repair factory. I had least expected this from Nokia.
Some of my friends who have windows 8 phones from Nokia haven't experienced any problems so far, not even heating problem. It's safe to say that the problem is only with my device.
It's two months old and I've got it from the Nokia priority dealer.
What'd you call a device which spends more than 40% of the time in the repair factory in two months of the purchase. Even the 3 months EMI's haven't been payed fully.
I've encountered lots of inconvenience after purchasing the device.
