The "save selection as channel" options don't stick

In PS CS5, I can't get the settings for the "Save selection as channel" options to stick.
My saved selections always starts out as black for the selected area although the small icon at the bottom of the channels panel shows a white circle on a black background. When I click the channel thumbnail to bring up the settings dialog it's always set to "Color indicates selected areas". Of course I can change it, but I would like the setting to remain on the "Color indicates masked areas". Is there a setting somewhere that has eluded me?

OK, when I posted my question I saw the "more like this" sidebar, in which I found the answer : the settings for Quick Mask are used as defaults. So my question is answered. I had searched the forums before posting but hadn't found anything.

To hide the “Save As” and “Exit” options in xlviewer.aspx page in SharePoint, I recommend to use the code below(however it is not recommended):

Labview 7.1 crashes windows XP when using VI's saved with the 'Save for Previous Version' option available in Labview 8

I am trying to work with a series of vi's developed in Labview 8 in Labview 7.1. The code was saved with the 'Save for Previous Version' option available in Labview 8. When trying to use the code in LV7.1 my entire Windows XP system locks up (cursor freezes). Are there any ideas what's going on and how to fix this?

I have seen some problems with the save for previous option in the past. Instead of saving the entire hierarchy, try seperating the code into several different pieces and saving each piece individually. Then, see if you can open the different pieces in 7.1.
If that doesn't help, you should post some more details, like when exactly does it lock up, does it have things like DLL calls, and maybe attach the code.

What happened to the "Save As..." option in Keynote?

I would rely heavily on "Save As...' to use previous presentations as templates. It seems that the Save As function has been changed to something else in OSX Lion. Is there a way to restore it? And it not, what's the best way to accomplish the same task under Lion? Thanks so much!

You should see a number of "suggestions" for other topics on this subject in the "More Like This" sidebar next to your post. The question is asked very often. To get to the old Save As… dialog box you need File > Duplicate then File > Save… Or see this topic for a one-step option.

Why did 4.0 get rid of the Save Tabs upon closing option? How can I get that back?

When I go to close my browser, now that I have updated to 4.0, it no longer allows me to save my tabs. Why not? Can I have that option back please? (Why would you make an updated version LESS functional?)
Please tell me how to get that option back.

So now we have to go one extra step? Previous version would bring up all saved tabs automatically when it was opened the next time. Very handy when using FF at work.

Can no longer save selections

i have a grave problem and hope someone can help me.
i was working for a long time with selections in one document.
today, while i was trying to save another selection, in the save selection dialog box there was only the option to save it to a new document.
all the list of my previous selections was gone. i have closed and opened, restarted - to no effect. other documents dont have this problem.
in google i found only one other such case, however it was unanswered.
please please help me
using photoshop CS4 11.0.1, windows 7 64
i have attached a screenshot (don't mind the french, i changed the interface language so that i could learn it quicker).

i thought about the limit of saved selections (didnt know nothing about channels back then), but i couldnt remove them from the selections dialog.
removed channels and now ok. thanks again!

Root Account - No 'save as pdf' print option

The root account doesn't have the print option to 'save as PDF'. My other user accounts do have that option.
Any suggestions on how to enable the 'save as PDF' option for an account or if something special is needed for the root account?

I log in as root because I don't like having to fiddle with permissions. For example I installed wireshark and it wasn't allowed to capture packets from the network interface because it needed special permissions. Even though the account I was using was a sys admin account I still needed log in as root; change permissions somewhere.
I decided that I would just log in as root. Yeah yeah its so very dangerous...no its not.
But; now that there are these little goofy things like so 'save as pdf' button forcing me to click 5 times to to the save as a pdf option under the preview button I may go back to a vanilla sys admin account.

How can I return to the last selected item in a dialog box

In OS 9 using Dreamweaver (for example) when I was adding images to a document, each time I added one the dialog box would return to the last selected image and I could just arrow down to the next in the list, add it (exiting the dialog box) and then repeat the process until I had added all the images in the folder. Now, using OS 10.4, after I add an image, and return to the add image dialog box it goes to the first item in the folder list instead of the last selected item. this really slows the process down, and when I'm adding 100 items or so, it's a real drag. I figure there has to be a way to get the dialog box to return to the last selected item, but I don't know what it is. Help!

How will i display the multiple select ids in the dashboard ?

I have a form where there is a multiple select. When the form is submit, the ids for the multiple select is stored in the database as concatenate. For example, multiple select : 3,9,5,1.
The ids of the multiple select is found in a table TABLE1 and the insertion is done in another table TABLE2.
Now I have to display them in a dashboard.
My question is how will i display the multiple select ids in the dashboard ?
I have to do an innerjoin with TABLE1 to retrieve the names of the multiple select ids. I don't know how to do it because the column name for multiple select in TABLE2 is of type text and the column id in TABLE1 is of type int.
Please help me solve this problem.

One general advice is, never store comma-delimited lists in the database. In fact, the reason is to avoid problems like the one you now face.
The major suggestion here is to re-design your database. Make sure each selected item (for example 3, 9, 5 or 1) is stored in its own row.
To solve the problem as it now stands, you could do something like

Then use ColdFusion's list functions to do what your dashboard requires you to do.

TS4009 I have followed the steps above but when I get to the screen to select a downgraded option, the Done button is grayed out and won't let me select a new option. I see a lock up in top right-hand corner, but not sure how to unlock it.

I am making my first keynote presentation. I transferred the slides from a power point. I did not use a 'theme' from keynote. Keynote will not let me 'name' the presentation and the 'save as' option will not come up in the menu. What have I done wrong

When it comes to Keynote, I try and start with a presentation that's 1680 x 1050 preset or something in that range. Most projectors that you'll get at a conference won't project much higher than that and if they run at a lower resolution, it's better to have the device downsize your Keynote. Anything is better than having the projector try and upsize your presentation... you work hard to make it look good, and it's mangled by some tired Epson projector.
As far as slides go, scan them in at 150 dpi or better, and make them at least the dimensions of your presentation. Keynote is really only wanting 72dpi, but I do them at 150, just in case I need to print out the presentation as a handout later, and having the pix at 150 dpi gives me a little help with their quality on a printer.
You'd probably have to drop in the 150 versions again if you output the Keynote to .pdf or Word or something, but at least you have the option.
And Gary's right (above) go ahead and scan them as TIFFs. Sooner or later you'll want to do something else with these slides (like make something for an iPad or the like) and having them as TIFFs keeps your presentation looking good.
Finally, and this is a big one, get to the location for your presentation ahead of time if you can, and plug the laptop in and see what you get. There's always connection problems. Don't let the AV bonehead tell you everything will work just fine ('... I don't have any adapters for a Mac...') . See it for yourself... you're the one that's standing up there. Unless it's your boss, then you better be really sure it works.

The "save as" option does not show up when selecting the "file" selection

Recently installed OS X 10.9.2 When using Numbers the "Save As" option no longer is displayed under "File". The help screen indicates that it should. Any suggestions?

Thte Save As... command is an optional command in the File menu. To reveal this command, press the Option/Alt key while viewing the File menu.

How can I select a channel on the RT target with a VI on the host?

Maybe I'm trying to pound a square peg into a round hole, so please let me know if I'm abusing LV, but ...
I'm trying to parameterize our RT VI app that deals with digital output channels. We use the same basic VI for multiple configurations. The only thing that changes is the channel allocations. So for instance, actuator 1 is on port0/line5 for one configuration and port1/line2 in another. I really don't like the idea of modifying the VI every time we have a new configuration because it makes configuration management insane. If I make a change to the basic VI, now I have to upate N copies of the VI and hope I catch everything.
So I'm making the main app VI read an XML configuration file that specifies all the allocations. Sounds great at first, but how do I create the XML file? I created a VI that manages the data in the VI, allowing the user to add/remove channels and edit the name and channel and then save it to an XML file. The configuration is comopsed of an array of clusters, with the cluster containing the name and DAQmx channel. My intent was to let the user select the channel from the list of valid channels by using the DAQmx Global Channel control. But the problem is, the configure VI runs on the host, which doesn't see any of the channels because they are on the RT target. But if I try to run the configure VI on the target, it refuses to deploy because I have GUI widgets.
Is my approach fundamentally flawed? Is there a better way of parameterizing our VI? Or is there a trick to getting access to the valid channels on the host VI? The information MUST be available because after all, when I modify a target VI and select a global channel constant, I'm doing this on the host.

How to get the current selected value of a combo box or a option button?

Hello All,
I want to catch the current selected value of a combo box and also of a option button and want save it into different variables in my code. These option button and combo box are in a SAP business one form which I have created through VB dot.net coding.
But I don't know how to do that, can any one send any example code for this.

If you want to get the selected values you can do it as follows: The Combo Box value you can get from the combo box. If you want to get it on the change event, you must make sure that you check when BeforeAction = False. If you want to get an Option Button value you should check the value in the data source attached to the option button.

How to select physical channels to save?

I'm in the beginning of implementing a new program.
The first issue is to get a list of all available devices and channels, and then mark the channels I would like to save datas from.
This input from the user should then act as an input to the "save data to file" part of the program.
Is there any suggestions how to do this?

What I have done so far, is to create an array of all the available channels. Attached is the program for this.
What is desireable is to have a select function like the one I found a picture of in the forum. See attached picture.
How can pick out the elements in the array and write them into this box?
