The screen blinks whenever I hit 'alt' button

Hello there, I just bought my Macbook Pro Retina Display 15'' yesterday. The problem occurs while using Photoshop. On photoshop, whenever I need to hit the 'alt' button and left mouse click together to pick color, the whole screen blinks for a second. I'm also new to OS X, so I am not sure to what extend this might be a problem.
I would really appreciate if you could enlighten me on this issue.
Thanks in advance!

It probably got too cold and shut down. Warm it to room temperature, then hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears.

Are there any apps in the muti-tasking bar? If the app closed unexpectedly and appeared in the muti-tasking bar, end it. Double tap the home button and then hold the app until it starts to wiggle then tap the minus at the top left at the app (if you want, end all the remaining apps)  try opening them now. Hope this helps! :)

The red, green and yellow buttons in the upper left corner of the screen disappear whenever I open Safari.  I cannot minimize the Safari window which I often need to do if I am coordinating multiple windows between different applications.  Does anyone know how to get those buttons back?  I guess I could just switch betwen appliations, but I am used to doing it the other way.

    You're welcome
You had Safari in full screen mode.

This happens even if I simply hover the mouse over bookmarks, not even opening a page.
And waiting for this to happen some times or closing and re-opening seems to make it work ok again.
I've already disabled almost all add-ons (I'm using only one for Flash and NoScript right now), reinstalled Firefox (8.0.1), restoring only the bookmarks from an older version.

'''Try the Firefox Safe Mode''' to see how it works there. The Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.''
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open the Firefox 4.0+ Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or use the Help menu item and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Don't select anything right now, just use "'Start in Safe Mode"''
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shift key) to open it again.''
'''''If it is good in the Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.

  • 2nd generation ipod touch wont turn on. The screen blinks but the apple icon doesn't show up.

I have a 2nd generation ipod touch that I got from a friend. I drove all the way across the country (three day trip) and it worked perfectly. It was in a hard case and has no damages to it. I haven't dropped it or gotten water on it at all. But for some reason the screen wont turn on. It blinks on and off when I plug it into the charger (and theres like a soft clicking noise that I hear when the screen blinks) but the apple logo wont show up. And it doesn't seem to actually be charging. It doesn't seem to actually die all the way either.... It's weird.. but I know no damages have happened to it so I don't know what to do. I've tried to reset it (pressing and holding the home and power buttons) but that wont work either. Help?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

First try a hard reset.  To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If still no luck, try downloading another free app from the App Store.

Lastly, try to restore the iPod from a previous backup or restoring it to factory settings.

Press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the menu bar.
Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the menu bar or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide.

  • Is there any way programmatically to disable the screen shot capture using Home   power button in the iPad device?

    Hi Team,
Is there any way programmatically to disable the screen shot capture using Home + power button in the iPad device. We need to avoid the screen capture option due to security reason.
    thanks ,

    Hi Peace, Clyde,
Thanks for information. Using the API  UIApplicationUserDidTakeScreenhotNotification (iOS7)  send the notification after the screenshot taken.  Using this api is it possible to block the screen shot caputure option.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Bala

I changed the Lcd +  Digitizer on my Iphone since that the light of the screen blinks but stays off, I can connect to Itunes and Itunes connects with the Phone.
    I don't know what's causing the problem.

Sounds like something is broken. Unfortunately, it's no longer eligible for a discounted out of warranty replacement. Find a competent repair shop or buy a new phone.

  • Black screen, powers up without hitting power button

After 6 months my iMac G5 20" rev. B working fine (other than failing to sleep automatically - will sleep display but hard drive does not power down) I'm having problems. The screen goes black and I cannot re-boot: I get power but the screen either stays black or, sometimes, freezes at gray. I have repeatedly tried resetting PRAM and PMS.
After 1.5 hours with an AppleCare rep, with no success starting the machine, I took it to my local Apple Store and (of course) they were unable to replicate the problem, although they did run Techtool on it all day and found no problems with either the hard drive or the memory. (I'm a little ticked that they didn't even bother to read the notes from the AppleCare rep - the attitude seemed to be that neither the AppleCare rep nor I knew what the heck we were talking about.)
So I took it back home and lo and behold it did start up normally. So (after backing up my files) I did a complete erase with only stock Apple programs reinstalled. It worked fine for a few hours but then the exact same thing happened: black screen, unable to start up although I get power (the screen stays frozen at black for about 60 seconds, and then the fans come on full speed which I understand is because there's no OS running to regulate them). Only now there's one new development: whenever I plug the iMac back in - whether by pulling the plug out of the back of the unit, or unplugging the cord at its far end - the computer automatically powers up without my pressing the power button. That happens even after I've used the power button to turn it off. That seems weird as well as potentially a safety issue.
I have it in for servicing again - this time, to the local reseller I bought it from, because they don't require an appointment and force you to wait around for hours merely watching them run Techtool - after another hour-long session with an AppleCare rep was unable to get it working and the rep said it was "definitely" a hardware problem. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues: especially the "powers on without pushing the power button" phenomenon.
I have 2G aftermarket RAM but don't think that's the problem because the same issues occur regardless which RAM stick is in the machine, even after resetting PRAM and PMS and doing the system erase and install. Also, the Apple Store did test the memory with Techtool and said it was fine.

After again experiencing problems I took the iMac back to the reseller where I bought it. They were able to replicate the defect and I received a new logic board. The invoiced cost (covered by warranty, luckily!) was $1,067 for the logic board and $85 for labor. The hard drive was erased but OSX Tiger was pre-installed when I picked up the computer. (BTW, Backup 3 is a very nice backup utility!) Now my iMac seems to be working perfectly, and the energy saver/sleep function works normally again.

  • How to lock the screen like MS Windows (Win   L Buttons)?

    Hi
I've got a MacBook Air with OSX Lion.
How do I lock the screen in OSX Lion with a simple key shortcut?
In Windows 7 you simply press the "Windows" button and "L"
How does it work in OSX Lion? I hope it is as simple as in Windows 7 - however until now I cannot figure it out.
    Thanks,
    Nave

Not a keyboard shortcut, but a mouse one from another post.
Launch “Keychain Access” located in /Applications/Utilities/
From the ‘Keychain Access’ menu, open Preferences
Select the checkbox next to “Show Status in Menu Bar”
Now that the lock menubar item is enabled, you’ll find a little lock icon in your menu bar. Once the menu item is enabled, just click on the lock icon and select “Lock Screen” to immediately lock your Mac OS X desktop.
    Now a keyboard method.
If you have your security preferences set to require a password after sleep or screen saver begins (System Preferences > Security) then you can use the power button, then type "s" to turn sleep the system. It won't start the screen saver, but the display will go dark and you will need to enter your password to wake it up. I've found it takes a short time though to actually enter a password required sleep. If you wake right away, then no password is needed.
