The screen came off off my ipod is it broken for good?

i dropped my ipod and the screen came completly off is there a way it can be fixed?

You can try making an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple Store, if you have them in your area, and asking if they'll exchange it for their out-of-warranty replacement fee, but in most cases when the iPod has broken into multiple pieces they won't. It won't hurt to ask, though. If indeed they won't, there are unauthorized repair shops that may be able to repair your iPod. Do a web search for "ipod repair" and you'll find a number of options. I haven't used any so I can't make any specific recommendations, but someone else here might know of a service they can recommend.
Regards.

  • I dropped my iPod touch 4 generation on my kitchen tile and it shattered, like chunks of the screen are coming off. But everything works and I've had it for a 1 ½ years now. I don't have the extended warranty or anything but can I get it replaced somehow

I dropped my iPod touch 4 generation on my kitchen tile and it shattered, like chunks of the screen are coming off. But everything works and I’ve had it for a 1 ½ years now. I don’t have the extended warranty or anything but can I get it replaced somehow? if anyone knows anything please let me know. thank you!

Depending on the extent of the damage, Apple may replace the iPod for a flat fee; see the Repair Pricing section here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/faq/
There are independent iPod repair services that may be able to repair the iPod for less. Do a web search for "ipod repair". Note, though, that if you elect to have the iPod serviced by an unauthorized shop, all further warranty will be void.

  • Will my iPod be replaced if the screen is coming off, and my warranty is no longer valid?

I want to know if apple will replace my ipod if I no longer have my warranty. The screen is falling off slowly. What should I do?

  • IPod shows red X on the screen and turns off by itself

my 80GB iPod was just sitting on my desk when all of a sudden it turned off. i tried turning it back on, the apple sign shows, then a big red "X" mark shows on the screen and below it shows a link to apple's support page - "www.apple.com/support/ipod".
I clicked everything i can and nothing happens, i plugged it in the computer and iTunes shows nothing. I tried reseting it many times but it'll just show the same red X and turn off again... is my ipod broken for good or can i fix this?

Hey, I had the same problem and did everything I could think of to fix it (apple store, resetting it, draining the charge). Then I started freaking out because I didn't want to spend the money on a new hard drive or a new iPod. So I did a little searching and found this on another forum:
"Some times when you drop your ipod the lens inside skips. (kinda like a record player) reset your ipod by holding the middle and menu button until you hear clicking. then with one hand hold the ipod firmly and hit the side of it onto the PALM of your other hand. Sometimes this jumps the needle back into place but not all the time."
I didn't drop mine like mentioned ablove, it just happened, but I've been frustrated and was going to try anything to not spend another $200+. I used the palm method, and it didn't work. But then I hit the side of the ipod on the ground (carpet of course) about two or three times. It made a funny noise and then turned on and started working like before. What a relief. Hope this helps.

  • My iPod Nano 2nd gen. has a black caterpillar-like shape on the screen when turned off. I recharged and reset. What else should I do?

My iPod Nano 2nd gen. has a black caterpillar-like shape on the screen when turned off.
It disappears when turned on. It must mean something. I recharged and reset. What else, if anything, should I do?

You can work through the remaining five 5 R's of troubleshooting.

It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.

Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity.  A third party service will actually replace the damage part for a little less.  Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

  • When FT is full screen, camera goes off when swiping to a different app

When FT is full screen, camera goes off when swipping to a different app or the desktop. This is frustrating to the other person. We were having a discussion and I said I wouls look it up and when I swipped to Safari, the camera went off. It makes the other person think the connection has been lost. Anywhere to report issues like this to Apple?

In reading other threads, I found a few that recommend a hard reset to solve the issue.  I have tried it, and thus far haven't expereienced the problem again.  Hopefully that's it then

Not possible.  Which OS is currently installed on your iMac?
If your iMac came w/DVDs when you originally purchased it, run the Apple Hardware Test and post back the results.
If you are still under warranty and/or have AppleCare, call them.  Let them deal w/it.

  • When the screen saver turns off my front panel does not refresh.

when the screen saver turns off my front panel does not refresh. If I use the show desktop button sometimes I can not maximize my vi by just clicking on it from the start bar.

I utilize both a screen saver and the show desktop feature but have never seen this problem in the past. You might play around with your screen saver settings to see if they have any affect. You might also try another computer just to make sure something larger scale isn't going on. Also, testing with other programs to make sure it isn't a general OS issue is always a good idea. Other possibilities include changing your Video Driver settings, updating your video driver, and uninstalling - reinstalling.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.
If no fix, Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.

  • LOCK the screen or LOG OFF?

    Hello All,
    OS: SLES 9
What is the difference between LOCK the screen or LOG OFF?
From the server I run command (rwserver.sh server=repserver90 batch=yes &) to run my report server up or running.
Pl note: If its down I am not able to run my reports.
After that I have lock the screen.
Now I am able to use any client (windows machine) to run reports from my Oracle AS url.
I wonder if I LOG OFF from the server,
is my report server still running?
    Regards,
    DN

What is the difference between LOCK the screen and LOG OFF from the server?
Well, lock screen keeps all the processes running,
whereas log off from the session, would kill most processes
(not the oracle server, but most others that are still associated
with the X session).Something I want to add to that: Locking the screen also prevents other users from using that terminal session, but it depends on where you're locking the screen. If you are not running an X session and you lock the screen via flock or some similar console locking mechanism then users can't use that terminal session, but can use other terminal sessions on the same machine.
If you are running an X session and you lock the terminal via xlock or xscreensaver, you prevent users from using that computer station entirely. Also, if you're running an X session, utilities like flock become quite meaningless because they don't stop the user from opening a new terminal window.
From the server I ran command to run my report server up.
    rwserver.sh server=repserver90 batch=yes &
I think if you use the command with nohup instead,
it would detach from the controlling terminal, so it
wouldn't matter whether you only lock the screen,
or log out completely. The ampersand "&" at the end of the command line throws the process into the background. Most of the time this is enough to dissociate the process from the controlling terminal enough that logging out will not kill the process, so logging out after starting the server that way should leave the server running.
Nohup's behavior changes with the environment you're using. In tcsh, it simply causes the process to ignore hangups, though it can itself be overridden by the process. In Bash, nohup will will also change the scheduling priority of the process and redirect output and error messages to "nohup.out", either in the local directory or in the $HOME directory (and if it can't write to nohup.out for some reason, it refuses to run the process).
Another method is to use the GNU "screen" command. But if you use screen, make sure that the screen command is ABSOLUTELY NOT setuid root. I know most sane distributions nowadays don't install it with setuid root anymore, but paranoia never hurt the admin.

I agree- I apologize if I sounded skeptical and attacking. In no way did I mean it to sound that way.
I completely agree on the software-hardware combo issue- this is why apple killed off 1G and 2G devices- because newer software revisions would never ever run well if at all on such ancient devices. can you imagine running iOS 6 on an iPhone/iPod touch 1G? That would be terrible. Let alone iOS 3 runs terrible on them and now are generally rendered useless due to newer App Store requirements (most require 4.3+ now to allow apple to kill off the older devices). forcing newer software on older hardware (apple, dell, HP,... Anything electronic this definitely applies to) will almost always yield less-than-par results. The other part is apple forcing you to upgrade by means of intentially making things obsolete. all companies do that.
All of this factual info aside, the issue at hand with the 5 is not a software-hardware combo problem- those are most widely seen with the major revisions. then again, this isn't the first time apple has gotten caught up in battery drain snafus (even iOS 5 was plagued with this as well- and now there are some people desperate to roll back but can't). it basically waters it down to the point where keeping the stock software will always yield the best results even though newer versions provide better features- it all depends on whether or not the person deems the added features are worth a performance hit.
PS. I'm still at 100%- and I've been using it periodically throughout the day. your combo worked for you, but didn't for me. And may or may not work for others- As the tech world would say, mileage may vary.
PSS. What model/carrier do you have? Just wondering.

It appears you have the Zoom accessibility feature turned on.  Tap the screen twice with three fingers to get to the normal screen.  Then go to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn off Zoom.

i purchased a year of adobe cc today. The screen came up to tell me it was processing my payment, not to hit the "back" button or refresh the page as it could take a few minutes. That was 7 hours ago. I contacted the help chat department and was told it would take 24 hours to process. Is this normal?? Why would the screen tell me "a few minutes" if it's actually 24 hours? Has anyone else had this problem? I am so tempted to just refresh the page and try my luck with my credit card canceling a second payment should it happen. THAT might be faster.
