The screen freezes......love firefox but this new version stinks. Help !!!
The screen freezes....so I have to close and reopen.
any suggestions. Using MacAir newest model.
I have this problem on my MAC and it also seems to affect thunderbird. I've found that by clicking and holding your mouse on the icon in the doc then clicking on the application window seems to unfreeze. I know it's a frustrating experience and I would love a better solution.

I cannot "click" on the top inch of any screen when in firefox. This prevents me from signing in and out of certain webpages. If I minimize the screen this does not go away either. This doesn't happen when I am either on my desktop or using IE. I love firefox, but this is frustrating! Help!

If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

i down laoded ff4 yesterday now nothing is working,
tabs don't work. the mouse keep stopping, and now i can't uninstall it from the package manager, and get app firefox uninstall doesn't work how do i go back to 3.6.8Thank you for your time and help. I FINALLY got rid of everything .Net.
It seems that when I updated other programs it was attached and took hold each time.
I'm leery of all programs now and just want to make sure there is no .Net attached. When I checked the firefox.com website it had a link to Microsoft (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/963707) which is "How to remove the .NET Framework Assistant for Firefox" It's for "Click-Once" which I don't want... but I just wanted to be sure that I wasn't setting up for another battle with .Net.
Since I swore off Internet Explorer I have had fewer problems all around.
Thanks again! I'll let Firefox update now that I know there is no .Net hidden in the update. -

After updating my iTunes it no longer acknowledges that my iPod or iPhone is connected so I can't update my music.. I have followed all of these steps and everything is working fine but this new version of iTunes isn't recognizing my devices. Any advice?
I have the same problem. Running Win 8 64Bit, updated to latest ITunes and now will not recognize phone or pad. Followed all advice from Apple (uninstall/restart/re-install, all in exact order) ... nothing. Spoke with Apple tech and walked through the whole process, but no resolution. Tech was trying to be helpful but has no way of addressing issue.

Firefox is highly customizable and you may be able to customize it to meet your needs.

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

I no longer have the tool bar. The only way to exit is to use the task manager to exit. Bookmarks, history, nothing is visible. When exiting via the task function, it says the system is waiting for a reply, but nothing shows on screen. There is no way I will upgrade my other computers to this new version of Firefox!!

I have Norton 360 on my computer. I use Firefox regularly and I downloaded the latest version of Firefox. I was able to use Norton 360 in Firefox. Norton saved all my passwords I use online. Now the latest update of Firefox does not allow me to use Norton 360. Is this compatibility problem with Firefox or with Norton? Can this be fixed? If so, how? What do I need to do?

I functioned extremely efficiently with Firefox for years. Now, suddenly the new version lacks the conveniently accessible functions to which I have become accustomed. I would like to re-install the earlier version so that I can resume my customary productivity, but I can't find the earlier version to "update" to ("downdate?") This does not happen on my laptop computer or on any other program my work computer runs.
That problem can be caused by the Yahoo! Toolbar or the Babylon extension that extents too much downwards and covers the top part of the browser window and thus makes links and buttons in that part of the screen not clickable.

I just installed the latest version of iTunes on my windows 8 computer. I was trying to transfer an audiobook I downloaded through overdrive media console to my iPod nano. Also, it is possible your profile might have become damaged during the upgrade. You could try creating a new one.

With the old version, all I had to do was go to the log in page to any of my email accounts or membership sites and scan my finger. It would fill in the fields and open my account. I like this new version of Firefox, but if I am not able to use that password manager then I will have to install the older version.

I downloaded Firefox 4.0 and it says to re-install the toolbar but I have not been successful in doing so. I went to the forums and tried all the suggested fixes but none worked. Can I go back to the older version? I had no trouble with that and I do not like this new version at all. I tried a system restore twice and it did not fix the problem.
I would imagine it's the MyWay Searchbar which is classified by most anti-malware scanners as adware, or even worse as spyware. I say that because I see "SmileyCentral" in your list of plugins and that's an add-on for that particular toolbar. You can disable that via Tools | Add-ons | Plugins.
There are a number of toolbars which won't work with Firefox 4 anymore due to the enhanced protection mechanisms in the browser.
Mozilla recommends that you only install add-ons from its own security site @ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/?browse=featured Generally speaking, those have all been tested and approved. The exceptions are those currently under review which are marked with a yellow banner to warn users that they haven't passed Mozilla's labs yet.
