IF you are LIFTING your Air up and claiming that the monitor will flop open at or past 90 degrees.   Normal.

Be very specific,   Define "when open" at what angle?
Define WHAT it is sitting on.....while lifting? or while sitting?
Due to the thin nature of the LCD backlit LED monitor on the Air, you would NOT WANT a very tight hinge.
Why? Excessive hinge resistance would cause the screen to BOW (and possibly crack), especially on a longer fulcrum from the hinge in the case of the 13" screen...... Ergo it is designed logically to be “looser than” a traditional macbook Pro's hinges for a very good reason.
IF on a flat surface "just past 90 degrees" it "falls on its own" that is ABnormal
differentiate WHERE/HOW it is opening up at,     on a flat surface, then its ABnormal

However, from your discription, I suspect that something is broken. Maybe a dead battery. In that case. I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and see what they say.

Couple of things you could try : clearing your Safari cache (Settings > Safari > Clear Cache and also try Clear History). You could also try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Apple can fix any and all of their computers. Whether it would be charged to you would be the question. Do you have AppleCare?

My daughter tried to open a game on her Ipod touch and the screen went white and I can't get it to do ANYTHING...I've tried holding the sleep/wake button and it does NOTHING, still only a white screen.

Try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If that doesn't work, try a Restore:
From iTunes, select the iPad and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad.
There's more that you can do. Post back if none of the above solves the problem.
By the way, I always allow "push." That allows the app developer to "push" information to your device rather than waiting for you to ask for it. However, "don't allow" shouldn't cause the problem that you're experiencing.

I have tried to start up from the installation CD holding down the C key on the keyboard. Same result. I have tried different key combinations while starting up. No result or rather same result. Nothing. Is the computer suddenly dead?
I was about to buy a new computer but I need access to my data on this one (I write this on an iPad) but hven't yet found a way.

You need to re install OSX. If you have the dmg file downloaded via torrentz this is how you can create a bootable external HD or Flash drive (8 GB+)

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I have called Verizon numerous times regarding these issues. They tell me to do different things that never help. We eventually did a factory reset and it still has the same issues. Help! I have done that several times. In fact, every time I call Verizon with my phone problems, they have me do the same things repeatedly. I keep telling them I have already done them but they insist they are SURE it will work this time. It never does. Go to Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Or if those do not work - quit Safari

Basic troubleshooting steps outlined in the user guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device. Try each of these steps until your problem is solved. I was trying to play Truffela Shuffela and the screen turned white and its stuck and nothing is working. I tried to do the manual resart when you press the home and power/lock button for 10 seconds and 40 seconds. Then I tried to plug it into my computer but that didn't work either. Try another sync. You can even deselect music for th first sync and then reselect it for a further sync.
