The send button in messages stays down
I am unable to use messages anymore as the send button stays down. I have checked for updates and reset messages a few times but to no availe.
The people I message have received in the past but now. I can receive but not send.
Another poster had the same problem recently but with no replies.
The only other thing that I can suggest short of a restore is to switch Messages off (Settings, Messages, iMessage Off) do the Reset (as above) again, and then switch iMessage back on again.

I can not send messages on an iPad mini the send button stays light gray and will not send. I can receive. I reset and logged out and back inn with no results. It worked fine when we first set it up. Any suggestions?
Hello iMessage issues 1234,
Thank you for the details of the issue your daughter is experiencing with sending messages on the iPad. It sounds like you might have the Subject Field turned on. To disable this go to Settings > Messages > Show Subject Field.

If the Subject Field is not enabled but messages are still not sending, I recommend continuing with the following article:

purchased Lion, installed it - once I log in - i get the curtain and message to hold the power button till it shuts down. Worked with the disk repair utility - fixed permissions to hold the power button till it shuts down. Worked with the disk repair utility - fixed permissions - still can't get past the "black curtain of death" any suggestions?
My machine was patched to date 10.x.x. I was lucky to get an internet connection and I selected the option to re-download Lion... its curruently being downloaded. What if that doesn't work?
Any thougths would be appreciated.
JoeAnd you have a workstation? not a notebook.
Usually a driver or hardware, nothing that Disk utility will fix.

Can anyone tell me why when I type a very long email, the send button is not highlighted anymore when I am done and I can't send the message? And I can't seem to save the message or anything and as soon as I touch a button, I lose the whole thing. Any suggestions?
Have you tried typing and saving using Notes or word processing Apps before sending message?

I cannot send any messages from my iPad. The send button is not lit up. My setting are on. When I put the address in it comes up in red with an exclamation mark
Delete the account, then re install it on the device. You will need to get the passwords exactly right., and there are some other settings that matter, such as send and receive server names, and sometimes a specific port. If you are not sure, check on the web for ' email settings' for your particular provider. What probably happened is that when you changed your password, some other setting got tweaked.

I've lost the "Send" button in my reply window. When I double click on a Mail message, on order to reply, the "Send" button at the top of the window is missing. I can reply by closing and saving my reply, and re-openning from Drafts. How to fix?
Hi, try this...
If nothing is showing in the Toolbar at top, click the little gray oval at top right.
Right click or Control+click on the Toolbar, choose Customize Toolbar, drag the Send button to the Toolbar. -
During audio messaging the send button does not switch to a microphone after selecting a contact

Actually, this problem is the same as the one described in your other thread, and should be fixed as well after following the procedure described there.

When I attempt to send a message the app quits immediately as I hit the send button.
When I attempt to send a message the app quits immediately as I hit the send button. iMessage also doesn't work. I have tried restoring it and that has failed.
You mentioned that you tried restoring....have you restored your phone as a NEW device (NOT using your backup)?
Restore your device as NEW. DO NOT add any apps other than those included with iOS 5. Try sending messages. If your phone works, then add your apps back. If not, then you have a hardware failure and you'll have to bring your phone to Apple for evaluation. -
Hi All - I sent an sms using my iphone 5 - It is PAYG and had no money in it. (stupidly)
It tried to send as an SMS but gave the 'green button reject message'.(no money)
Step 2 in this stupidity - the phone keeps trying to send the deleted text via SMS and wont stop notifying me of this. Totally ruining the functionallity of my phone, and more so totally annoying. All I want to do is stop the constant re-trying of sending the deleted SMS.
Any ideas?
Many Thanks!Hi, many thanks for your help - Pressing and holding sleep/reset hasn't worked, the msg is still continually reporting it is failing to send. I can restore to a previous version however I'll lose my paid apps. Is there any way to work around this. I'm only concerned about one app - Epocam HD which I purchased last month. My last backup on PC is 4 March 13 - before I bought the paid app - Itunes advises me I'll have to re-pay to get my apps (app) back. Even though it advises that icloud backed up this morning at 1:30 am (which although it is before the text, I cannot manually select this restore).

After sending a picture or message in "Message", what causes the "send" button to grey out?
Restore your iPad to the factory settings.

New iPad3 and it's not letting me send text messages.....the "send" button is not high lighted....
I've already tried everything listed in these links.
I've also resync'd email accounts via iTunes between my Air and iPad3.
Messaging works OK on all my other devices using the same account settings.
Problem started around May25th.
(and yes, I already posted back then under a different ID with no resolution).
There has to be a simple solution.
I'm presuming some sort of conflict with iCloud, but not sure.
Any other ideas? -
Hi there, does anyone know how to recover a newly created e-mail message that was possibly deleted instead of sent. I think my I may have hit the delete button instead of the send button? I have searched all my e-mail folders: draft, trash, sent etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Yes with an Exchange or IMAP account, which are designed for this very thing.
All server stored mailboxes with an Exchange or IMAP account are synchronized with the server with each email client used to access the account.
This is not possible with an antiquated POP account which was designed to be accessed with a single email client only - developed when the overwhelming majority of computer users had one computer - a desktop, and before notebooks were commonplace. -
I thought I used to be able to share contact information with another iphone user via messaging. Recently I tried sharing both contact information and "note", but have been able to do so. When I try touching the send button, nothing happens. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Or, am I mistaken, is sharing via messaging not an option?
If I send via email from either iPhone or iPad it seems like it has sent but it doesn't. If I send via text message from iPhone it says message failed to send and won't send again no matter how many times I try

How do I send text messages from my Ipod touch? The "send" button does not light up.
First of all, you need you have at least iOS 5 installed. Second, the person you are texting must have an iDevice with iOS 5 or higher installed. You can´t send messages to an non-iDevice. You´ll also need an Wi-Fi network to send iMessages. Hope it helped!
