The shuffle function is misbehaving

Hello there!
My iPod Touch (4th generation) has a bit of trouble with the shuffle option. I discovered the problem some weeks ago with a short playlist and here's the problem: it randomly skips one song and repeats another. The "track x out of x" line says it's playing a new song, even though it played the same song some minutes ago. The song it skips and the song it repeats are completely random. Here's an example of how it goes:
1st round: All tracks are played
2nd round: Track 1 is skipped, track 4 is played twice
3rd round: Track 3 is skipped, track 2 is played twice
..and so forth. So far I haven't found a solution to the problem. I contacted an Apple employee through the telephone support who said he couldn't help me, and I've tried to search the Internet for an answer without any luck.
Other useful information: the software is updated, and I have tried to reset the device. None of the songs have the "skip during shuffle" option ticked.

Disregard this thread. Just realised my error. The Zen 6GB will let you shuffle around a playlist manually.

You can set any song to Skip when shuffling.
In your iTunes Library, highlight the song and right-click/Get Info. On the Options tab is the Skip when shuffling box. Select that and then Sync the iPod with your Library.

The shuffle control shows up when you touch the screen in album view. This brings up the scrubber bar, repeat control and shuffle control. The shuffle control appears as crossed arrows. When it is blue it is On. When it is white it is Off.

I've created a playlist for my workoutplan with fast and slow songs that I need to play in the same order I've saved them.
But everytime I play the list, the Iphone shuffles the songs around.
How do I turn that off?

The progress bar will show up on top with the shuffle button on the right of the bar

In the lower right of the now playing screen does it say Shuffle? That mean no shuffle.If it says Shuffle all tap it until it say Shuffle.

ITunes 10.1 - Shuffle function no longer works correctly

The shuffle function on playlists no longer works correctly since the most recent iTunes update.
It will periodically stop playing without playing the entire playlist. It is a real hassle and kills the mood as you have to go back to the Mac and click play again. Please fix this issue as it is a very basic function.

Shuffle function no longer works after upgrade.

After upgrading the software on my 3GS phone to 4.2.1 the shuffle function in the feature no longer worked. The same song played over and over again. The solution was super easy. On the home screen choose Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. Unlike a restore none of your current data or media will be lost. Only took a couple of minutes. I had to set a few personal preference settings again like my ring tone and wallpaper, nothing major. Just a few taps and everything was back to normal. Hope this helps anyone having a problem after upgrading.

You could also tap the album artwork while the song is playing and turn repeat off.

Nano Shuffle Function Resets Ipod

Hi ,
I'm having a problem with my new ipod nano (2nd gen)
i put the shuffle function on and it's fine if i let it play through but if i wan to skip forward a song or two it always crash's,
i've tried doing a software update but it's already running the most recent version, i've done a reset an still no luck!
would anyone have any ideas?

Shuffle function on iPod with iTune Match

I have just activated iTune Match. now I have the same playlists on all my devides, however, I am not able to deactivete the "Shuffle" function on thw iPod touch. I can on both the PC and the iPad but I do not know how to do it on the iPod. It is a problem as I use the iPod for spinning and I need to play the songs in sequantial order. Thanks

IPod nano 7G issues with shuffle function

Dear all,
I just bought a 7G iPod nano. Altogether it's great but I have a couple of issues I would like to comment with you:
1. I sometimes use the "shake to shuffle" function, but when I go and turn it OFF, the shuffle function still remains (although not in the "shake" mode), and I must turn it off manually by tapping on the screen while a song is playing, and de-selecting it. Does this happen to you?
2. When I pair the iPod nano 7G to my car through bluetooth, after listening to any album up until the end, it then suddenly pauses, then starts playing again but in a shuffle mode, without me having done or touched anything. So after the end of any album, it just turns on the shuffle mode automatically. My car stereo system is a 2012 Mercedes Benz Audio 20 system, which has both A2DP and AVRCP profiles. Has anyone experienced something similar?
It's sounded like fun to listen to the iPod wirelessly in the car, but I must say that the bluetooth functionalities are so limited (play, stop, next track, last track) that it quicly becomes quite boring. I wish it had all the browsing controls like when you plug it in...Any comments?

im having the same problem. I drive a 203 c class with audio 20 and for some reason the media interface wont sync with my ipod. The bluetooth works fine but when i try to plug it via the media interface cables, it only charges....

HT1535 I want to load a playlist onto an iPod Shuffle that plays in a specific order. (The ipod is not on the shuffle mode but it keeps changing the desried order. I'm going crazy!

I've created a playlist in iTunes for someone in a specific order. I've bought them an iPod shuffle and have downloaded the playlist onto the iPod. Unfortunately, the iPod shuffle then reorders the paylist and it also plays in another order. The shuffle function is switched off, so I don't elieve it is anything to do with that!
It's driving me crazy! Please help!!!

Assuming it is the current 4th gen shuffle (or 3rd gen), if you want to play songs from a playlist on the shuffle, in playlist order, you need to use VoiceOver to switch to that playlist. By default, the shuffle plays songs from the All Songs list. When you set the power switch to play-in-order, the All Songs list plays songs alphabetically.

If that playlist is selected, and the power switch is set to play-in-order, the shuffle plays the songs in playlist order.
