The Sims 2 University won't launch/open?!

Hi!
Well I just got a brand new macbook for christmas so I decided to finally put sims 2 on it, when I installed sims 2 it worked fine although it did say it might not work as good because apparently i'm not using a mac thats better than a powerpc (which is stupid, i'm using an intel'
Then when i installed university by disk, it doesn't even let me launch it! i've tried the new patch and that does nothing whatsoever, so now whenever I double click on 'Sims 2' it just 'unexpectedly quits' and its reallly fustrating.
Another thing i noticed different was that there was no downloads folder in the EA Games folder in documents, which i know from my imac G5 that there should be one.
If anyone has any older patches or some other technique to overcome this, please help!

The sims 2 disc won't load

When I put in the disc for the first time, it doesn't appear on my desktop.
When I go to applications it appears there but when I click on 'Open' nothing happens and whatever else I click on either comes up with a load of random writing or a picture of the logo.
Help please!

You do not say what OS X you are running?
if it is a PPC app it will not run without Rosetta Software which is not supported in 10.8 or 10.9

PS CS3 won't launch-opens then closes. HELP!!!

I have PS CS3 operating on Windows Vista Home Basic (Dell laptop). I installed CS3 about a month ago and it has worked perfectly until now. (I am NOT running the trial version). All of a sudden when I attempt to launch the program it opens and then closes within a split second. (It is not running in the task manager.) I am a photography and NEED my PS to edit photos. I'm in a crunch b/c I have wedding invitations to design and get ordered. Can anyone help me out? I'm desperate!!

It came with Home Basic. And it was working just fine until today. I have unistalled and reinstalled and still no fix. I'm assuming Vista doesn't support PSE 2.0?

Quicktime for Windows -- on Vista -- opens a .mov movie once, then won't open the move and Quicktime won't even open itself. I've installed the latest version, and upgraded it to Plus as well.

I am having trouble opening .mov videos with Quicktime on my PC with Vista. I installed the latest version of Quicktime for Windows (V.7.7), and upgraded it to Pro. It will open a .mov file once, then after that it will not open any .mov file and in fact, when I try to open the Quicktime player it will not open itself. If I switch users to Admin, it all works fine, but when I go back to my regular role (where all of my preferences and programs are there for me to use), the same thing happens. An .mov file will open once, then never again, and the Quicktime player seems to be disabled.
I've tried different .mov files, so it's not a corrupt file that's the problem. And, in the past (a couple of Quicktime versions ago, I guess), all of this worked just fine.
Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated!

I have the exact same problem. They play on my Mac under Snow Leopard. Transfer to Vista gets a window with black and white and some other noise. No sound either.

The majority of apps won't launch after a restore

Hi, first of all, excuse any mistake, english is not my main language.
I did a restore using time machine and it seemed fine at first, but a further look after seems like I cannot open the majority of applications I have, for example, mail, software update, itunes, even third party soft like transmission or adium. Other apps works correctly, seems so random...
When I try to open mail for example, it pops up in the dock for a few seconds and then stops, and doesn't open. Same for the other "broken" apps. I repared permissions, restarted, but still hasn't improved.
Any ideas?

I'm assuming you followed the procedure in #14 of Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions. If not, do it that way.
Why did you restore? If it was because you'd been having serious problems with your Mac, whatever was causing them may have been copied to the last backup(s), so the one you restored may have been compromised. If so, try the restore again, but select an earlier backup.
If not, or if that doesn't help, try verifying your internal HD, per #6 in Using Disk Utility.
If that doesn't help, install a fresh version of OSX, per Installing the ''combo'' update and/or Reinstalling OSX.

IPhone 3G / Applications won't launch/open/start...

Hi guys,
Several problems appear since last night on/with my iPhone 3G...
When (for example) clicking the icon for the camera, it opens the camera, then freezes for a few seconds, then just kicks me back into the HOME SCREEN. Same thing happens when I click the icon for the Photo Album too!
What I've tried so far is to restart of course, and also a restore... nothing has happened... Is it worth it to uninstall a few of my applications to see whether it might be connected to that?
Could this be anything to do with the fact that quite a few of my applications (such as SnapMyLife and Sketches for example) have access on my camera and my photo album???
This is the 2nd version of the iPhone, things like that really shouldn't happen anymore - but of course - easier said than done... I'm happy enough if someone can try to get my access to a fully functional Photoalbum and Camera back!

OK, so more info......
All non-Apple apps would start, then throw me at the home screen after 2 or 3 secs.
I then rebooted the phone, deleted and reinstalled a free non-apple app from the app store and that worked. I then tried another free app and that worked, but my biggest paid-for app wouldn't.
I then switched off the phone for 10 mins, rebooted it, and now all the non-apple apps work again (very strange). (confrimed Brain Challenge started properly 3 times in a row now)...)
Since it only affects non-apple apps, I tend to think there is some sort of permission thing (when I re-downloaded a free app I had to put in my appleID for the app store again), does that somehow timeout and need to be re-entered ?

Installed 8.1.3. The Fitness Pal app won't stay opened. I click on the icon, it opens then closes without allowing me to enter my input.

installed update 8.1.3 to my iPad and iPhone. As usual, I'm trying to access Fitness Pal app to enter data On to the iPad. The. App opens briefly then closes immediately before I can enter the data.

Try to force close the app
Double tap the home button. When you see the app previews on the screen scroll sideways if needed to get the preview in question on the screen. Flick that preview up and off the screen to close the app. Single tap the home button or home screen preview to exit the mode.
If that doesn't work. Delete it and reset your device.
Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot. No data will be lost.
Then go back to the app store and your purchased items and redownload and reinstall the app.
If it still doesn't work, check out the reviews for the app. Sometimes an update can break an app. And, unfortunately, the burden is on the app developer to keep their app working with Apple. If you look at the reviews - change the sort from most helpful to most recent- you can get an idea if others are having issues. If they are and if the update has broken the app, then you have to wait for My Fitness Pal to fix their app.

I updated from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion and dont like many of the changes. Why won't homepage open in full screen? and why are internet searches slower?

Mail won't launch nor its settings save/ allow changes after 2.0

Anyone else have this ? Mail just won't launch ; opens to the main scroll screen, which stays blank, with the top and bottom bars showing – the bottom bar showing the refresh and write buttons – and then quits. Also, I cannot delete my MobileMe or GMail account, nor edit them.
Though with the MM account, if I try to delete it, it disables all of the push functions except mail. Things that I've been trying to do, like change whether the Trash folder autodeletes mail or not and the name of the account, don't save at all. The Trash delete frequency change stays in place as long as I'm in the Mail settings ; the name change doesn't hold at all.
In the second setting 'pane' in Settings – "Nouvelles Données" in French, so I guess "New Data" ? – down in Advanced, there are two MobileMe Push accounts listed. The first one saying it syncs calendars and contacts, and the second one mail... Yet I only have one MM account set up, or so says the uneditable Mail settings.
Nor can I (re)add my MM and GMail accounts. Trying to add a Yahoo account I never put on the also failed.
I've restarted my touch too.
Sounds like one of those things that when on a Mac, deleting a plist or fixing permissions would be suggested... I can't find a similar Settings-related problem anywhere on the internet either.

im having a mail problem too. i have a multiple yahoo mail accounts and every single one of them wont work. i keep getting this "the user name or password for "imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com" is incorrect." so i deleted my accounts and re-entered them. and the same message came up. i've re-typed the information many times throughout the day and it didnt work. i tried a different account and the same happened. then i tried my gmail account and that didnt work. yours sounds worse than mine, though. im not having mulitple languages. i hope you can figure it out = ]

The Sims 2 Expansion Packs and iMac Intels

Hi everyone.
I have The Sims 2, University, Pets and Open for Business and I have a question. I have downloaded the patches from Aspyr so I'm no longer getting the dreaded PowerPC question at the beginning... however, when I played the Sims on my PC, I think that it always used the original Sims disc to play, not the expansion discs. Does anyone know why my Mac is asking me to put in the University disc when I assume it should be asking me to put in the original Sims 2 disc? I thought that the expansions were just upgrades and that the game always required the original disc to be in the drive to play? Can anyone advise on this? How does it work if I want to swap between Pets and Open for Business for example? Do I have to have each disc in to play? Any help appreciated.

First off, is it osx app or just windows. Second, if it is osx is it Universal binary or just ppc, or just intel. If it is just intel, you are fine. If it is ppc, then i would recommend picking up a windows os, and installing it in bootcamp. I have been running a few games in bootcamp and they all run great. I do not have the Santa Rosa MBP, i have the older 2.33 2gb ram, but this laptop runs multiple games at full graphics mode. You shouldnt have any problems running or installing the game.

Yosemite Won't Launch Apps

I installed Audacity the other day have been having problems ever since. Any new app install or updated app will not launch when I try to open them. The icon for that application just sits in the dock and bounces up and down. I found a post here that discusses this issue but its over a year old and Ive tried what they discuss with no luck. App Store won't launch

My macbook automatically updated to the new OS X version of Yosemite last night. I really hate automatic updates, i don't know why it was on, i thought i had turned it off. Anyway, the thing is, it updated and now the app store app won't launch. I want to open the app to turn off automatic updates and of course, download a few apps since im on a new, three weeks old mac book. I don't know if this is an issue with the new OS X version and if it is, how can i fix it? As far as i know, you have to open the App Store to update the OS and now that app won't launch. So what can I do to fix the problem with the App Store app? Please help.

The Sims 2 after OS 10.4.3 update

Does anyone know of, or has experienced, a problem with The Sims 2 after updating to OS 10.4.3?
The game worked fine in 10.4.2, but now the Sims tool bar won't stay displayed unless the mouse pointer is in the lower left corner of the screen, as soon as the mouse pointer is moved, the tool bar disappears and is not accessable/useable. Also only half of the Sims preference menus are displayed, (they look cut in half).
Other apps and games, such as Call Of Duty (also by Aspyr) work fine.
Any help would be appreciated. TIA!

I do not personally have this situation, but I think the easiest and probably best way to start would be to reload the game from the original install disk and see if that helps.
I assume you have already checked the manufacturer's web site for an update.
