The Sims Complete Collection-Will it run on my MacBook Pro?

Hi everybody,
I have a MacBook Pro. Its got a 2 GHz Intel Core Duo processor. It's Version OS
X 10.4.11. I've been hearing conflicting statements from people on all different websites saying they've gotten The Sims Complete Collection to work on their Intel based mac, but then other people say they can't get it to work. Does anyone have a first hand experience with this game on a Intel based Mac? I would really appreciate some help since I was thinking about buying this game. I don't want to spend the money and find out that it won't work on my Intel-based Mac. Please help! Thanks!

  • The Sims Complete Collection.

I was wondering if I was to get the sims complete collection what would the chances be for it to work on my software? Snow Leopard 10.6.4?

Im sure you already know by now but yes. The sims complete collection WILL work on snow leopard. I loved that game so much. I was so p***ed off when i upgraded to lion and it didnt work Happy Siming

  • How can I play The Sims Complete Collection without PowerPC applications being supported?

So I downloaded Mavericks a while ago after my friend told me it was a really good idea. I hated almost everything about it to start with and since then I've found I don't hate everything but still a lot of things. I was on Snow Leopard before and, even though it was old, it was lovely; I knew where I was with it and everything worked.
    Today I went to play The Sims Complete Collection for the first time since downloading Mavericks a few months ago and it told me 'You can't open the application "The Sims Complete because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." I am SO ANGRY. I would quite happily buy the game again but they don't make them anymore so they'd all have the same system requirements. What's most frustrating is that I sold all my original edition Sims games that I'd been collecting for years to buy Complete Collection for Mac so I could still play the game I've played since the week it was released. Basically I need someone to tell me how to do one of these things;
1- Downgrade to Snow Leopard again. Bit extreme but I like the Sims a lot. I have the original discs that came with my macbook if that helps at all.
2- Don't think it can be done but is there a way I could have my Sims Complete Collection on my EA origins app? Like all my Sims 3 are.
    3-  Make PowerPC Applications playable
4- Basically anything that makes my game playable!

    Izzy118,
The short answer is that you will not be able to run Sims on your Mac unless a OSX Lion update is released.
Have a look at this thread on the Sims forum about a patch for Lion.
The long answer is that you can try to install Fusion and Snow Leopard Server, but at a cost.
Fusion is not free. Snow Leopard Server is several hundred dollars.
It will be less expensive to buy an old Mac just for your games.

  • How well will Premier run on a MacBook Pro Retina i7 with only 8GB of RAM?

My niece wants to do some video editing using Premier and we were wondering if there would be a problem running it on a MacBook Pro with i7 and retina display with only 8GB of RAM? I know 16GB would be better but that is not an option at this point. She is not looking at really large projects.

I am running Vista Home Premium with 2GB RAM and 2ghz processor just fine. I used to run XP too prior to upgrading to Vista. XP undoubtedly flew with 2GB RAM however Vista runs smoothly as well.
As far as overheating is concerned, both XP and Vista run hotter than OSx and noticeably so. The thing to note is that Vista does not run any hotter than XP on my macbook pro.

Yes, officially you can max at 4GB RAM and unofficially, 6GB, and it's an easy home project. Should take only about 15 minutes. Instructions here (select your model as "Early 2008" from the contents chart to get to the specifics):
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1270
    or video versions here:
    Memory (17-inch Early 2008 MBP)
    Memory/Hard Drive/Optical Drive (15-inch Early 2008 MBP)
the site that hosts the videos also sells Mac-compatible RAM:

I've bought most of my RAM from them for at least a decade

  • ITunes 10.1 will not run on my MacBook Pro running OSX 10.6.5

I want to update my iPhone 4 and needed to install iTunes 10.1 to do so, Install went fine but when I try to run iTunes 10.1 it bounces for about 10 seconds then stops, I restored iTunes 9 and this is ok but I can not update my iPhone without 10.1
Can anyone advise how to get this running?

I have been experiencing the same problem since last Friday. I have tried the following:
Cleared all Application Support files, cache and calendar files in my user library.
    I have repraired permissions, twice.
Removed iCloud configuration in system preferences.
    Tried multiple user accounts.
All of these things have not worked. I would love to know if anyone has experienced this and actually fixed the problem.

NOTE: Have already created a support ticket concerning the issue.
Then you have done what you need to do. It's in the hands of iTunes Support now. They either will or they won't. The policy is that all sales are final. They usually give one refund per account. If you have already received the one refund, then I doubt that you will get another.

    Highest rate capable.
Things may slow down a bit if you have a number of wireless devices connected simultaneously, since they must all share the same network bandwidth.

  • My iphone 5 will not sync with my macbook pro.  it says my computer is no longer authorized to download purchased items from the iphone

my iphone 5 will not sync with my macbook pro.  it says my computer is no longer authorized to download purchased items from the iphone.  However, when I go to authorize my computer, it says it is already authorized.  How do I fix this?

You can't change the Apple ID that the Authorize dialog comes up with by default. It's showing you that Apple ID for a reason: it means that the items you want to play were purchased using that Apple ID and therefore you need to authorize your computer with that Apple ID. Changing the Apple ID given completely defeats the entire purpose.
If you don't know the password to the given Apple ID, then you will no longer be able to play those items.

When I try to do as suggested and go under Java preferences it wont allow me make any changes this is the error message I get "Cannot launch "java preference" no compatible version of Java 1.5 + is available."
Then it gives the option to open java preferences or quit. It will only allow me to quit as it won't open java preferences. Stupid updates!

After my 2011 MacBook Pro 17 died, I had to purchase a new MacBook Pro 15 to replace it.  I performed a Time Machine installation from that 2011 machine, and only Distiller and Acrobat would launch (none of the rest of the creation apps).  So I ran the CS5.5 installer, uninstalled, then reinstalled, producing the same result. When I try to launch, nothing happens.  What next?
