I followed the instructions I read in a post to shutdown IPad holding the sleep button down until red arrow appeared. The slide arrow and then restart with the sleep button. Well, now nothing happens when I press this button to start IPad.

I have two problems. The most pressing is that I was following a suggestion to restart my IPad by turning off, sliding red arrow, wait for Apple symbol. I now see the apple but alson the little marks that go around when it is working but they are frozen and my home key does not do anything and no icons appear.

Since the Settings selections only turn specific functions on or off, my assumption is that the OP was looking for management options and user functionality, so as the ability to add a calendar entry directly into the calendar on iCloud. As we both know, you can only do that using a laptop or desktop. Many newbies do not understand that the only way to make a calendar entry, for example, from a phone is to use the calendar app.
If, on the other hand, the OP is looking to set up an account, then you are correct.

You will get the same model if BB still carries it. If that model is no longer avaliable, you'll get a comparable model, meaning another Classic. Your store may be willing to give you a store credit for the comparable model which you can use to purchase a touch. However, the store is not required to do this.

Is the screen-rotation lock on? In the upper right is there a circular arrow with a padlock inside icon? If so pull up the Control Panel and tap the circular arrow with a padlock inside icon yo unlock the screen.

If you press and hold the home button and click on the sleep button once, the iPod will make a screenshot of your home screen and add it to the photos on your device.
If you don't press the home button or the sleep button during to do this, one of your buttons might be stuck.
Try to reset the iPod by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again, ignore the "slide to turn off" message when you press and hold the buttons.

The "slide to unlock" on my elderly touch ipod no longer works.

The "slide to unlock" touch slider on my elderly touch ipod no longer works. My finger can move it three-quarters of the way then it pops back to the left. With struggle, I can sometimes combine the on screen slider moved as far to the right as I can get it then tap the hardware button on the bottom. I just have to keep trying over and over. An arrow appears at the top of the ipod that, when tapped, leads into the most recent song I was listening to before I turned it off. Just removing the earphones turns it off. Otherwise, I would just leave it on. The ipod works just fine once I get past that slider bar at the start. Help!

I-Pod Touch Problem Switching On - I-Tunes, USB Cable and Arrow on Screen

Hi folks.
When I switched on my i-pod touch this morning, an image appeared with a usb cable and an arrow pointing to the i-tunes logo. I have tried to switch off and restart the i-pod touch (16GB) but I cannot get past this stage. Do I need to have access to i-tunes on my computer to bypass this? I am at work and don't have access currently....
I've had it for just approximately 14 months.
Please advise....

It sounds like the ipod is in recovery mode. Plug it into you computer when you get home.
If it doesn't fix the problem, then take it to another computer running itunes and plug it in. It should tell you that an ipod has been detected in recovery mode and do you want to restore it. It should ask to download and install the software. After the install, plug it back into your computer and it should restore your apps and music.
This has happened to me with every update ever since the 3.0 software has come out.
Strangely enough, it didn't do it with ios 4 which should have told me that I was in for problems!!!!!!
