The smartest way to avoid people downloading Safari

www.apple.com/safari
The smartest way to surf.
The smartest way to read about Safari.
The smartes way to avoid customers actually downloading it.
What if your Safari app becomes corrupted?
What if you accidentally delete it and need to download it again?
Brian

It is very unlikely for Safari itself to become corrupted, and it cannot be deleted through normal user actions. System corruption generally results from installing poorly written or otherwise ill-conceived modifications to OS X that may affect required OS X components in addition to Safari.
Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
If you want to reinstall Safari anyway, boot OS X Recovery and reinstall OS X. That does not remove any third party system modifications that will result in immediate system instability all over again.

  • Mac Os x 10.2 used came without a browser or mail or restore disks. What's the easiest way to get IE or safari back on?

    It's a power Mac g4

Contrary to the above post, IE for Mac does exist. As a matter of fact, it was the default browser for Mac OS 8, 9, and X up until Safari's release in 2003. It was discontinued not long after that. However, you can still download it here: http://mac.oldapps.com/internet_explorer.php?old_internet_explorer=9. As for downloading Safari, if you're running an earlier version of Jaguar (10.2), you should be able to install it by going into Software Update and downloading all the updates available (provided the Mac is connected to the internet, of course). As for getting Mail back, I don't see how it's gone; seeing as it's a pre-installed Apple program, I doubt someone would remove it, and I'm not even sure it can be removed. Try doing a search in Finder for it. Finally, as for no restore discs, there's really no other way around it unless you get a set of restore discs (which are probably difficult to find considering their age) or get someone to put the restore disc data on a USB drive.
On a side note, I don't recommend using Safari or IE for internet browsing on 10.2. They're so outdated that most sites don't display properly on them. I recommend using the latest version of Opera for 10.2, which you can find here: http://mac.oldapps.com/opera.php?old_opera=15. I have personally tried this on an eMac running 10.2 and though slow (as it is also a very outdated browser version, over 5 years old), most sites seem to display properly (at least, for the most part). Or, as another alternative, I would recommend maxing out your Mac's memory and installing Mac OS X Tiger (10.4) and the TenFourFox browser (link: http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/). Do that, and you'd have a rather usable internet browsing machine.

  • What Is the best way to upload and download psd files from Photoshop to Photoshop Touch? [was:Re]

What Is the best way to up load and down load psd files from desktop photo shop to photo shop touch? For on the go touch up or. I'm using psd files at 90 percent 300 depi when in photo shop on desktop. To ps touch

    Hi Bford225,
I'd recommend using your favorite web browser and going to https://creative.adobe.com/files for uploading from the computer.
Keep in mind tablet capabilities are much less than a computer, so large files might take a long time to download and be very system intensive to work on. Although you can import files up to 12 megapixels I'd recommend something more mid range, like 6 or 7 megapixels, ie 2880 x 2160 or 3072 x 2304.
Also, PSD files are flattened when imported into Photoshop Touch.
    Hope that helps,

  • What is the smartest way to apply green screen effects in premiere elements for mac?

Videomerge looks messy and difference matte kills the foreground and difference video entirely, leaving only the background

    Mike Way Jr
What version of Premiere Elements are you using on your Mac computer?
Did you apply the Difference Matte write up that I posted? Many Premiere Elements Windows and Mac users have reported using the technique described for Green Screen.
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2013/05/pe11-difference-matte-as-substitute-for.html
I have not heard of any alternative for the Premiere Elements Mac user other than go Premiere Elements Windows.
Please review and let us know the outcome.
Just not to take anything for granted, I ask "Have you reviewed your green screen prep work?"
    Thank you.

  • What is the smartest way for me to upgrade/update my system?

I am a busy professional photographer working with a iMac G4 Flat Panel 15" running OS 10.2. I work mostly with Photoshop 7.0.1 and Canon Utilities EOS Viewer Utility version 1.2.1.14. I shoot with a Canon EOS 20D. I print proofs with an Epson 1280. Print docs with an HP Laserjet 2200dn. Although obviously behind the times, everything is working just fine -- the only problem I am having is my browser -- Internet Explorer 5.2 is no longer compatable with my online banking service. I am nervous about updating anything. If I update my OS to 10.2.8 (combo) my browser won't work -- might also have problems with Photoshop and other important apps. My question is: do I upset the apple cart or remain status quo? Do I invest in an entirely new computer system? If so, which one? I'm very confused, and would really appreciate some Apple hand-holding.

    1136/3582
    Hello pht103 ,
I can't tell you about your Photoshop version and about which update you would have to (possibly) download from their website.
About updating your Mac OS X 10.2 to 10.2.8, yes, it is a good idea.
Start with replacing your Internet Explorer with this version 1.0 of Safari
    - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120233
    or with Firefox for example.
When all is OK with your new browser, you can freely use it to update/upgrade Mac OS, Photoshop, etc.
    --> Before updating to 10.2.8
(same if you finally decide to upgrade to Panther 10.3.x or Tiger 10.4.x)
use your Disk Repair utilities and make sure there is no problem or file corruption of any kind.
Also, always back up your precious files of course.
    --> After updating to 10.2.8:
Use your repair tools again, especially Repair Permissions, although I don't remember how you do that on Jaguar 10.2.x.
    Also:
I seem to recall there is one last Security Update that applies to 10.2.8. This one too you'll find it at the Apple Downloads.
That was for one first "hand-holding".
    Good luck!
    Axl

  • HT1386 When I connect my 5s to itunes on my Pc  the sync gets stuck on either "downloading safari safe browsing data" or "waiting for changes to be applied".  Any ideas?

When I connect my 5s to itunes for a sync, the sync gets struck on either Step 4, waiting for changes to be applied, or "downloading safe safari data."  This does not happen with my ipad.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thx, Jimmy

Same thing has been happening to me and I havent been able to find a fix. Itunes has basically rendered my phone uselsee. It wont see it, let alone sync it.

  • I was told I needed to run a virus scan before being allowed to reinstate my facebook account. What is the best way for me to download a free, but 100% safe virus scan for my iMac?

Is there a virus scan download from Apple.com that I should use to clear my iMac before I download the latest update to Mevericks and get a clear slate to reactivate my facebook account? Thank you.

You may have been the victim of a potential scam or responded to a pop-up trying to sell anti-virus software.
How on earth would Facebook know you have a virus - not least because there are no viruses that can affect OS X.
There are many forms of ‘Malware’ that can affect a computer system, of which ‘a virus’ is but one type, ‘trojans’ another. Using the strict definition of a computer virus, no viruses that can attack OS X have so far been detected 'in the wild', i.e. in anything other than laboratory conditions. The same is not true of other forms of malware, such as Trojans. Whilst it is a fairly safe bet that your Mac will NOT be infected by a virus, it may have other security-related problem, but more likely a technical problem unrelated to any malware threat.
You may find this User Tip on Viruses, Trojan Detection and Removal, as well as general Internet Security and Privacy, useful: The User Tip seeks to offer guidance on the main security threats and how to avoid them.

  • Any way to avoid Slow download of apps on ipad2

Really sick of this slow download of apps and YouTube streaming on iPad 2. It's blazing fast on my android phone at least 50 times faster with same connections.

    Hello skatrdude19,
    Welcome to the Discussions Boards,
While there is no way to just have the icons fill the empty spaces, you do have a reset option that will accomplish it.
Go to Settings > General > Reset.
You'll see the option to Reset Home Screen Layout.
Resetting it will fill in those empty spaces, but the arrangement of the resulting icons may require some manual re-arranging to get the icons to the pages you want, and it's not a reversible reset. Once you reset the Home Page layout, you will have to re-arrange icons manually.
    Hope that helps,
    Charles H.

  • Smartest way to avoid users writing on replica?

    Hi all,
I'm using Streams uni-directional source -> target at database level. This target DB should be available for all people for query only.
I've also made some rules to exclude a few schemas from capture. This part works fine, but now, I wonder how people use to avoid users to write changes on the target database (replica).
I could open it in READ ONLY mode, but in this case, even my DBA user can't make any change (for instance, I'd like to build and run some procedures on this replica, or some developpers may need to create some temporary tables while requesting data).
So I would like to know how you guys use to "protect" your replicas? (Or maybe my policy is wrong...)
    Thanks!

Hmmm... I don't know, because it would alter my replica and then I will probably get apply errors... Or I should exclude users privileges from replication but don't really know how to do that...

  • What's the best way to avoid seams in patterns?

I read an article that suggested avoiding tiles with fractions of pixels, but that does not solve it for me. Here's an enlarged section of a pattern.
I've found ways around it by turning it into a tile, pasting into Photoshop, trimming by a pixel and then filling with the pattern in Photoshop. But, that's a lot of time spent trying to get around a program glitch. Any suggestions?

It helps sometimes. For this pattern I'd rethink the art.
With the new Pattern Builder there's rarely a need to duplicate items. Simply configure the tile with only the art needed:
Note there are no duplicate elements. All you need are primaries.
Setting up art this way eleiminates seams in the middle of objects entirely.
