The songs on my ipod won't sync on to itunes.

I have bought all my songs on my ipod but they will not sync onto the computer, it says accessing itunes for a long period of time (more than an hour), help?

Try just redownloading them on your copmputer. Sounds like an Apple server problem.

My Ipod won't sync to my itunes, it has before but now the button that says 'sync ipod' is grey and won't let me click it. Why is this?

Did anything happen to the computer?  It appears that you are trying to sync to another iTunes library since in that case you can only sync with one iTunes library.

  • Will all the songs on my ipod be wiped off if my itunes is now empty?

My lap top's hard drive crashed and i've lost all the data that was ever stored on it, including all my music and itunes. i've since reinstalled itunes but obviously have no music within it. if i reconnect my ipod which currently has all my old music on it, will it sync with the new itunes and cause all of the old music to be wiped from the ipod? any answers on this would be much appreciated!

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Control and Alt keys (or Shift + Ctrl keys in older versions). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes 7 Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • How do I get the songs on my ipod to a new installation of ITunes

I keep Itunes on my corporate PC and I just received a new PC after the old one crashed. I installed ITunes and connected my IPod Nano and was saw a window that indicated my Ipod was linked to a different library and I would like to change. It would seem that I would lose all of my stuff if I answered yes. How do i get my Ipod in sync with the new installed Itunes?
    Thanks!

t would seem that I would lose all of my stuff if I answered yes.
    \Correct.
It is in sync with your previous computer.
How do i get my Ipod in sync with the new installed Itunes?
The correct answer to your question is to plug in the iPod and select yes.
It will sync your iPod with your new library which contains nothing.
Sync between iPod and iTunes is one way. Computer to iPod.
The question you really want to ask is, “how do I get the songs off my iPod onto my computer?”
    Go to www.yamipod.com.
This will allow you to get everything of the iPod and into iTunes.

  • My ipod won't sync on to itunes

I did method three to "how to use multiple ipods, ipads, or iphones with one computer" on apple help.I got to step 6 and my ipod won't sync, the music I had on CD's isn't in my library anymore, and I still don't have to different apple libraries. i'm trying to have different libraries to my sisters ipod and mine.

For help me right now, If it's won't sync, It might be having deleted music, movies, or tv shows. To replace it back, insert the CD and import to iTunes. And if is imported, try again from step 6.
If your problem is solved, then it can be working.
If your problem is still not solved, go to apple store and make an appointment to Genius Bar.
    Thank you for understanding.

  • Ever since the new update, my Ipod won't sync. Starts to sync but then goes back to connected eject before disconnecting. Still won't transfer songs even after being restored. Restored fine. But now I've got nothing on it. Please god help!

For awhile, since the newest update, I'd noticed when charging the ipod (classic) that it stopped going to the charging screen and would stay on the  Connected: Eject before disconnecting' screen. But, y'know, didn't matter to me, it still charged... until today when I tried to add music. Tried it many times, reset it... STILL wouldn't transfer songs... It would 'say' it was syncing, but then suddenly stop and stay on the same Connect: please eject before disconnecting' page. I did a couple of times get a message about scanning it but, after restoring that never popped up again...
So, I do a system restore on it and ofcourse THAT works, but it STILL won't sync! So, now I've got an ipod with no music that won't sync and because it's all gone on there, I'm not sure how to back up my stuff (should I need to re-install iTunes... Though I doubt it'd work...)... So, yeah, I tried a different cable too, still no luck...
There has GOT to be some way to fix this!
Please somebody help me out! I so freaking appreciate it you have NO idea!

I think the problem is that the iPod got set to Manually manage music and videos.  It needs to be set up for automatic syncing again.  Just unchecking that Manually manage music and videos setting does not do it.
In iTunes 12, select the iPod in iTunes (using the device button), so that you see the iPod's "management" screen.  In the sidebar (along left side of screen), there are two headings (Settings and On My Device).  Under Settings, click on Music.  To the right, you see the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box at the top for Sync Music.  That turns ON automatic syncing for music.  Below that, choose the option to sync Entire music library (assuming your music library fits completely on your iPod).  Otherwise, you can choose the option to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres and make your selections below.  Then click Apply.

  • My ipod is synced to a library i can no longer access, will i lose the songs on my ipod if i sync it to a different library?

my ipod is synced to a library i can no longer access( computer died )... can i sync it to a different library and not lose the songs currently on the ipod?

Im having the same problem. I just got the itouch 4g this past sunday and everything was working great. Yesterday and today the camera went black out of nowhere and its black right now. After i turned it on and off it went back on but its doing it again. So i assume its just an iOS 5 bug thats doing this. But is there any talk about fixing this?

  • What does pin 1 do on the docking connector? (iPod won't sync with AVIC-D3)

My wife's 5th Gen iPod stopped working with her AVIC-D3 header in her vehicle. I can connect other iPods of various generations and they work just fine.
This has gone back to Best Buy (its still under extended warranty) five (yes, 5) times and they never fix anything. They do come up with different reasons it doesn't qualify for the "lemon" clause in said warranty - but thats not your problem . So it came back from visit number five and they replaced the battery... nice of them but couldn't find anything else wrong. This time when we took it up there to say "still not working" (so return number six) they were much more accomodating (I just moved to a new city, so I was refreshed to see that customer service isn't entirely dead) and plugged it up to their display stereos and docks there at the Geek Squad station and it worked just fine. They didn't have an AVIC connected - these were all the "two line display" stereos. So in their eyes, its the header (which again, will sync with every other iPod in the world). I brought it home and started looking it over - the first pin in the output socket (pin 1 on the left with the white face up) was simply not there. So I took it back to Best Buy and they said that it was a ground wire and would not impact the player or the way it syncs up.
Depending on which pinout diagram I look at on the web, its either a ground or a firewire pin. While I can't see the ground doing much (but I'm by no means an expert), the firewire is a definate maybe.
So since Best Buy won't help, I thought I'd try to reverse engineer this thing. +If I can figure out if the missing pin is vital, then I can go back (again) and make a case for it.+ Can anyone confirm if this is a ground wire or a firewire pin thats missing (or something else)?
    A couple of quick facts:
    Its a 5th Generation iPod Video (30GB)
It powers up and charges via the USB cable on a PC and will play if connected to a desktop dock or two line car stereo
If connected, the D3 does not acknowledge it at all
It used to work with this header
While connected, there is no indication in the iPod display that it has external power and I can freely navigate the menus (it normally shows the Pioneer logo)
My iPod Classic works using the same cable with no problem
A friend's iPod 5.5 Generation works fine using the same cable
It is at the latest firmware
I reset it with no change
Any help is appreciated - thanks!

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    1. Could you give some specific details of what does and doesn't happen when youy try to sync. Do you have Auto-syncing, or are you manually managing music?
    2. You don't need to enter these. Go into Settings > WiFi > and switch WiFi on. Then pick your SSID (network name) from the list that appears. Enter your WEP key/password or WPA password.
The router details etc should be filled in automatically.
