The songs on the itouch don't advance
The songs on my Itouch don't advance. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
On the left side of the now playing screen right below the scrubber bar is an arrowed racetrack icon. That is the repeat icon. Tap it until it is white for repeat off.

Songs can be removed from your iPhone by tapping 'Songs,' then swiping the song, then tapping Delete.
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.

I downloaded 2 cds onto my ipod nano through itunes. Recently my itunes account changed for some unknown reason and now it doesn't recognize the songs from the cds. The songs are still on my ipod. I am affraid to sync now because the songs may be deleated, and I don't have the cds anymore. How can I transfer the songs from the cds on my ipod back to itunes so that I don't lose them?
What you have on your computer is your iTunes library, not your "account." The "account" you have for iTunes is your Apple ID, which you use when purchasing or downloading from the iTunes Store. If these songs came from music CDs that you imported into iTunes, those songs are not related to your Apple ID.

How are they not "recognized"? Are the songs still listed in your iTunes music library, but grayed out? They no longer appear in your iTunes library at all?
If you search your computer (not in iTunes) for the song files, using one of the song names, can you find the song files? -

When I am playing my music it will not advance to the next song, it just keeps repeating the song. The only way to go to the next song is to do it manually. It just started this after the last update. How do I fix it, hard to listen to at the gym.
Check the song and see if repeat is activated. Down in the bottom left corner is repeat when the music is running. It would have a colored box around it if it is active. It would either read Repeat Song, or Repeat Playlist.

iOS 7.1 update requires approximately 350MB's of storage space.
Tap Settings > General > About > Available to see free storage space.
Very important to never allow the free storage space to fall below at the very least 500MB's or your iPhone may not boot.
You need to free up storage space on your iPhone for future updates as well.

If your intention is to copy a just documents and data (word processing files and music for example) then yes, you can use drag and drop. If you want to transfer data and applications and permissions, it would actually be easiest to connect the drive to your old computer and turn on TimeMachine. Once TM is finished, connect the drive to your new computer and restart it holding the option key to get into Recovery mode. Then you can use the restore from TM option to transfer your data and programs to the new computer.

I have been using I Tunes Playlists for some time.
Recently, I was creating some new playlists, and seem to have goofed up somewhere.When I open an existing playlist,and when I try to play each of the songs in the playlist,the same song plays,even though I scroll down to the next song.I also notice that,there is a ! sign next to the serial nos of each song.How can I remove this sign ?I suspect that this is the problem.
ThanksThe exlamation mark happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

I would like to copy all the songs from one Ipod into another. All the songs are into my Itunes account, I tried to drag and drop the songs from the old Ipod to the new one but it doesn't work. Is there a way to do it ?
I share one Itunes account with other people from my family and one person would like to keep the same songs on the new Ipod as the ones which were on the old one.

I have a music library on an iMac and I got a new iPhone and a new MacBook Pro and I want some of the songs from the iMac library to be on my phone and my MacBook Pro and I have a new Apple ID on my phone and my Mac book pro, is this possible if so how do I do it?
Providing specifics on all the ways to do this will take more time than I am willing to spend here these days. You can do some of this with Home Sharing. You can transfer the entire library from one computer to another, If you do that you can delete what you don't want from the transferred library.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder. If you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
You do not want to use a new AppleID. Change the AppleID on the new phone to the old ID. Purchases made with one AppleID cannot be transferred to a different one and it will be a royal pain to manage two Apple IDs.
Change iTunes Store account on an iOS device - Log out of your current account with Settings.app > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) > tap on your AppleID. Log in with a different account. I need to edit out parts of a song to cut it down to two minutes for my daughter's talent show. I went to info/start time and it will cut down one part but only one part. I need to put three parts together. I tried adding duplicates of the song to the list but if If I change the start time on one it will change it on all of them.
In your library, right-click the song you want to edit.
select "get info".
go to "options" and select the start and stop times for your first section of the song.
click "OK".
Find the shortened version of the song in your library. It may take a minute for it to show up. right click it again and select "create (????) version". (the ???? is different for different formats).
The library will spit out a new, second version of the song which you can rename. I suggest you use the original title and add a 1 to the end.
Now you can go back to the other version and repeat the process with a different start/stop time.
Once you are done editing, you can burn all of your versions to a disk, just make sure your interval time is zero so there are no gaps between edits.
To keep the orginal song on your library, just go back to the original and put the start/stop times back to the original settings. -
How do we get the song of the week free?
I've heard that on Itunes you get the song of the week free. If this is true, how do I redeem this song?
A free Song of the Week is also available in the UK, Canadian, and French iTMS. There could be others as well (I haven't taken the time to check them all), but present not all iTunes Music Stores have free tracks (presumably because Apple has as yet been unable to make appropriate arrangements with the record companies in those countries).
Linda, you do need to have a valid account in one of the iTMS that does offer the free tracks. To create such an account (if you don't have one already), you'll need a credit card with a billing address in that country or a gift certificate or prepaid card purchased in that country and a mailing address in the country. -

It looks like it's no longer being done (whether permanent or only temporary I don't know), there have been a number of other posts about it no longer showing in various countries stores

After recharging shuffle(second gen 2 gb) it played the song from the start
after recharging shuffle(second gen 2 gb) it played the song from the start instead or continuing from the last song played. I put 500 song on the shuffle, then I listen to 200 roughly on and off for 3 days (1 hour here, 1 hour there etc.).But now I have to recharge it then when I turn it on, it start at number 1 song and not 201. Even though with 500 song itunes says play time roughtly 1.4 day, so roughly 30 hours, and the charge last roughly 12 hour (give or take a few, depending on volume, skip etc...) maybe I would have been better with a 1 gb. so i don't have to skip to the last song I played before I recharge it.
Beside that, so far I love my shuffle, I have been going thru different mp3 players, this one is great except for that little problem.
any idea or suggestion would be appreciate to help maximize my ipod experience

unfortunately it's normal behaviour for the iPod shuffle to reset the playback position to the first song whenever it is synced.
A safe way to avoid this is using the USB power adapter for charging instead of connecting the iPod to your computer.
If you don't have a power adapter, try this: In the iPod settings in iTunes, deselect the option to open iTunes automatically when the iPod is connected. Now whenever you connect your iPod to your computer just to charge it, make sure that iTunes isn't running, and don't start it while the iPod is connected. This way no sync will happen and hopefully the playback position will survive. -

When you select your iPoid in the left menu it will take you to the iPod summary page. If you look at the top center it has tabs called Summary - Music - Podcasts - Contacts - etc. Make sure you have all the syncronization stuff unchecked and on the summary page have manually manage musci checked. Let me know how it goes.
