The sound goes off and on while typing on keyboard

I would try to power cycle the device by holding the sleep/wake button till is says turn off. Maybe even reset by holding the sleep/wake and the home button at the same time. by chance if none of that works back up your device and restore it. Sounds like a software issue so that should fix it. You could always contact apple support aswell.

  • Sound goes up and down occasionally, sometimes it crackles right before

Sometimes my sound goes low and then comes back up to the normal volume when I am listening to music, watching a show, or watching something on youtube. I'm not sure what is causing it and the online chat person couldn't figure it out. She when into my speaker setup and enabled all the optional speakers (center, subwoofer, rear pair) and then under "full range speakers" she enabled "front left and right" and also "surround speakers" but that didn't help. Any solutions for this?

    Hi Dave,
Did you upgrade to Win 8.1? Try installing this IDT audio driver for Win 8.1.
If this driver does not help then temporarily use a two speaker setup and use the headphone jack on the top of your tower instead of the rear audio out jack. Your rear input/output audio jacks may be failing. If this is true you may have to replace the mainboard.

  • Sound Goes Up and Down in HP Envy m6-1105dx Laptop Beats

    Yes, Hello.
I just bought a hp envy  m6-1105dx (windows 8) yesterday and as i was setting it up, I realized that the music volume in winamp got loud all of the sudden and they it went down again. It happens with every song. I downloaded the new sound drivers but the problem is still there. I read about this problem in other types of envy laptops but I did not see anything regarding my particular laptop. Any help will be appreaciated. This problem is started to annoy me.
I hope someone can help me. Thank you.

If any of you lot have trouble with you audio just follow this steps:
    Follow these steps:
    1) Press [Windows] + [X] on your keyboard and go to Device Manager
    2) Go to Sound, video and game controllers
    3) Click on IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
    4) Click on the Driver tab
    5) Click on Update Driver
    6) Select Browse my computer for driver software
    7) Select Let me pick from a list of device driver on my computer
    8) Select High Definition Audio Device
    9) Read the warning and click Yes if you understand the risk
    10) Restart computer
    When your computer restarts:
    1) Click on the Volume Control (little speaker) on the bottom right of the task bar.
    2) Click on Speakers
    3) Click on Enhancements tab
    4) If you don't know much about audio, and to help prevent speaker, headphone, ear damage, click on the Loudness Equalization and click Settings, then move the slider to 3/5 or 4/5 towards Long, then click on OK and Apply
    5) Enjoy AWESOME sound.
BE CAREFUL, the unlocked IDT sound chip is VERY LOUD, and based on my audio engineering experience, I would not recommend listening to it at more than at 45% volume without the Loudness Equalization activated.  I'm listening to a modern CD, and without the limiter and compressor, at 50% volume, the level borders on EAR DAMAGING LEVEL on my headphones.  Also, without the pre-installed limiter, higher volume MAY DAMAGE YOUR SPEAKERS.
    A little about my solution:
This solution basically replaces the IDT driver with a Microsoft driver.  If you damage your laptop by using it, your warranty may not cover the repairs, so please, please, please use the limiter or be careful.  On the same note, don't damage yourself either; hearing loss is very hard to self-diagnose, as you lose hearing progressively by losing sensitivity to some higher frequencies.  It doesn't "feel" any particular way, you just notice that you stopped hearing the birds chirping and the leaves rustling one day, so don't blast your music.
Lastly, I'll likely revisit this solution again sometime, as I'd prefer to use the IDT driver and have my EQ work.  This is possible by going through the IDT folder in Program Files, and essentially hacking the settings files in a text editor, but it's rather time consuming and difficult.

  • ITunes plays songs but the sound goes in and out on some...

    Hi there,
I recently dumped my whole computer and reloaded all the programs. Upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7. I reinstalled iTunes and was surprised to see my music still there. Kind of weird but saved me the time to reinstall all my music. My iPod still connects and is recognized. Music plays fine on my iPod but when listening to music on iTunes while I work on my computer, many of my songs sound like parts of them are really low, or rather distant sounding, then a part sounds like it should, then it will fluctuate between the two. All this in one song.
I've checked my drivers, have the latest iTunes version. No iTunes plug-ins in the App folder. I just don't get it. I'm about to reinstall all my music but that is last resort. I've sat here for a considerable amount of time searching the discussion forums for a solution but doesn't seem to be a topic with this particular problem.
Any thoughts? Thanks for you help.

Does this happen with other computers or devices?

  • The sound on my HP Pavilion dv6 goes up and down randomly on its own

Whenever I watch a YouTube video or play my iTunes music my sound goes up and down randomly by itself.  It is super annoying.  I just bought this laptop a month ago.  What is going on? Can I fix this or do I need to take it back?

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp57501-58000/sp57966.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again.
Has this made any difference to the issue?

  • Solved: Attention T510 owners: Audio / sound volume goes up and down

    Hi all,
I am a new owner of a T510, and have discovered the audio goes up and down when listening to music through the speakers, running on battery. I would like to get in contact with other T510 owners, who can test if their unit has the same problem - try this:
    1. Check all the settings in the SmartAudio control panel (using the newest driver) - making sure no EQ is set, nor VOIP settings or anything like that.
    2. Check that no plugin was loaded in the sound control options (I am using Windows 7, 32 bit).
Now try and play this youtube song, and listen to the volume at around 40 seconds when the lead singer begins - does your audio volume go up and then down again when he stops? If you listen to the complete song, it goes up and down some more times.

    Edit  #1:
I can unfortunately now add, that the problem is also there when using the AC adapter. It is so **bleep** annoying the volume fluctuates, and it is VERY easy to hear on the above link. Hoping to hear from other T510 users what their findings is. For information I can tell I am using the power plan called "Maximum Performance", in the power manager from Lenovo. The T510 model is a 4349-4JG.

    Edit #2:
I have now had time to test it some more, using another HDD (didnt want to reinstall windows on my SSD, hehe) - and can hereby say that it seems to be a bug in the audio driver / SmartAudio control panel. Clean Windows 7, 32 bit, has the problems - but when you disable the VOIP function in the Smart Audio control panel, the problem disappears (actually it was just the VOIP function that was active before). If you then try to enable the VOIP function again, the "problem" does not come back (hence the bug comes into action now). After this test, I put my SSD back into the laptop, and tried to mess with the VOIP functions (again, had already tried to mess with it), and it did not do anything (hence the bug is active now). Therefore I reinstalled the audio driver - tried to check if the problem was there, it was. Then I did the same procedure as on the other HDD, tried to disable the VOIP (before I installed anything else and such!), and the problem is now gone. And the result now is that when I try and enable the VOIP function again, the problem does not come back (hence the bug is now active) = me happy
    In short terms:
The bug can either have the VOIP enabled and you can not disable it, or it can be the other way around - it cant be enabled. To "turn" the bug around, reinstall the audio driver :-)

    Hi,
Ive been having this problem with my Compaq CQ60-615DX for almost a year now. When im listening to music I can hear the audio going up and down through it. One sec itll be loud and  the next its like the audio being turned down (but the volume bar does not move). I also have SmartAudio with the Conexant High Definition. So, I see that you have figured it out. Ive tried to understand what you said but im not very literate with computers. Could you explain how to stop it step by step? I would appreciate it. Thanks.

    Hi,
Try a Hard Reset as follows.
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the notebook.

i worried coz the apple center say to me to reset the computer asn press the coman + p + r and when i reset i no do faster. so the guy say resed again and press all again. so after that. he say reset again the computer. can affect the computer to do that? im worried coz is new =S. happend i call apple coz i think have one problem the battery the time change always example: 1:21 later go up to 7:00 after go down 0:30. why like that? =( they say me finish all the baterry now them charg again. if still like that i need bring apple to see what happend. so i asking u if the guy make me reset the computer 3 times can affect my MBairr??

It sounds like you are doing this because the remaining charge time on your battery is going up and down.  This is actually very normal.  The remaining time is only an estimate based on how you are using your machine at any given time.  If you're just browsing web pages, it may say 4 hours... but if you launch a processor intensive game, it may immediately jump down to 2.5  hours.  After stopping the game, it may jump back up to 3.5 hours.  It's like a car uses gas, the heavier you push it, the more "fuel" it uses.
To get a more accurate number, you should view the battery by percentage instead of time.  It will show you the actual percentage (it should not go up and down).
