The storage in my MacBook is almost full.

I need to move the movies and photos to an external storage device and delete the info in my computer in order to liberate some space. Is it possible to use the Time Capsule to do this?
Will my Apple TV be able to stream movies and photos from the Time Capsule via WiFi?

You have more than half the drive's capacity taken up with audio, photos, and movies. You should consider off-loading them to an external drive to free up space on the SSD. Otherwise, you will need to replace the SSD with a larger capacity hard drive. You could use something like a hard drive to replace the optical drive using the Data Doubler from OWC.
The "Other" represents anything that isn't classified into the other five categories - mail, calendars, contacts, application data, document files, etc.
You will just need to be more conservative about what you store on the computer if you plan to continue using just the SSD.

  • Storage on my MacBook Air almost full

When I look at my storage on my MacBook Air, it has Audio, Movies, Photos, Apps, Backups and Other. The overwhelming majority of the space that is taken up is under the "Other" category. What is classified as "Other," and how do I get rid of some of it so I can save some space on my MacBook??
If I got rid of all of my songs, all of my videos, all of my thousands of pictures and each of my ~70 apps, it still wouldn't save as much memory as is in the "Other" category. Please help me figure out what this "Other" stuff is. Thank you.

  • My storage on my iCloud is almost full, and I turned off some apps that I don't want to be backed up. So if I press the button delete back up, is it going to delete all of the apps that I'm backing up, or just the ones that I turned off?

I keep on getting E-mails that notifies me that my storage is almost full. I don't want to press that button until my question has been answered.

It will delete the entire backup, so you'll have to back up again after doing this.  The new backup will only contain the apps (and other data) that you have selected and omit the ones you turned off.

  • Hi, is it possible to upgrade / increase the storage in a Macbook Pro

hi, my macbbok pro gets full really quick. Is it possible to upgrade the storage capabilities on the machine

Yes it is.  Look for options here:

Any 2.5" SATA drive will do.
    Ciao.

  • Macbook disk almost full.

My macbook pro used 190 GB of 250 GB and I got little over two months ago. I have very few files, what is the problem? What should I do?

There is no such thing as a "fresh" or "clean install".  Most likely it was meant an erase and install.
When you erase, you should be wary that the backup itself may suddenly become unreadable in an effort to recover the information.  If you go that approach, make at least two backups of all essential information either with Time Machine, or a cloning software such as Carbon Copy Cloner or Superduper.  With cloaning software you have the added advantage, that the clone will be boatable if successful, as a relatively good test that it was successful.
With Time Machine it becomes harder to test for a successful backup.
That said, here are some suggestions which may clean things up:

  • HT1688 The storage on my phone is always full.  I download it to icloud but it doesn't help

I can not add my computer to access my clouded information.  It says I have too many computers activated.  I no longer have these computers.  What do I do?
Also my phone keeps saying my storage is ful despite I keep down loading it to I cloud.

iCloud does nothing for the physical storage on your iPhone that is being taken up. Your iCloud and iPhone are two totally different storage entities.
You can de-authorize the other computers you're not using from your Apple ID so that you can authorized this computer you're using and move stuff off your iPhone http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420
You'll also want to check the Other storage when you can hook it up to iTunes and see the capacity bar. If its over about 3GB, there may be a software corruption and you'll need to restore your iPhone as new http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1867

  • I want to save my music to icloud as the storage on my iPhone 4S is full how can I do this

    Hi Everyone!
I hope you can help me as am a bit confused.com
I have filled my iPhone memory but i have 25g on my icloud, is it possible to transfer or choose where my songs etc are stored. Ie icloud rather than iPhone memory?

Not at this time. iCloud can not be used for storage in this way. You might want to consider iTunes Match or Google Music or Amazon Cloud Player.

  • I want to upgrade my storage on my macbook air, how do i do it?

so i have a 2012 11-inch macbook air. It only has 128 gb storage buts says it can be configured to 256 GB. But it says only on the apple online store but i can't seem to find it. Please help!! Just got for university and its already full!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Apple doesn't allow you to upgrade the storage of a MacBook Air, but you can do it without any problem. However, you will void warranty and it's expensive. Read > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/SSD/OWC/Aura_Pro_Air_2012
The other option is to buy an external disk

  • Your startup disc is almost full - yet 101GB free !!!

I ran disc cleanup and got the message 'your startup disc is almost full' yet if I check Get Info for the drive I have...used = 48 GB, free = 101GB !!!
Any idea why I'm being told it's almost full.
PS: I have backup of two (2) 320GB LeCie external HDs

I don't know why it is saying that, but that utility is not really doing anything for you. All it does is is erase the bits that the OS has already declared "free."

Are you running Adobe Photoshop? If you are, how big is the swap disk?

  • Error messge--"Start up disk is almost full"

Please excuse my ignorance, but how do I fix this problem? It started just recently when I started downloading some decent sized files. Please help! Thanks!!

Hey jodija and welcome to Apple Discussions,
Well if it's saying that your startup disk is almost full it means just that, the disk or partition that the OS is installed on is almost full. Your computer will act really weird if that happens.
You need to get rid of stuff to make room on your start up drive.

  • TS4036 I received a message that my iCloud storage was almost full. So I went in settings and turned off most of the apps that we're set to back up in the cloud. I deated many of my photos on the iPad and MacBook. No change in cloud storage. How do I clea

How do I delete items stored in the cloud and clear it so I can get it working? It will not store any more photos. I cannot use it. It is almost full. I don't want to buy any more storage at this time. I delegated some photos on my iPad and MacBook and nothing changes.

    # Yes, if you go to accounts.firefox.org, sign out, you will now be signed out.
    # Sign back in, and you will be asked to save the password you entered.
    # This will save the password and autocomplete if you have this option turned on.
I am not exactly sure why the menu did not detect the password change or if it was stored incorrectly after you changed it? But after storing the correct password you can manage any duplicate passwords in the password manager.[[Password manager - Remember, delete and change saved passwords in Firefox]]

  • I have a 1 TB Time Capsule on a wireless network with my iMac and my wife's MacBook Pro.  The TC is almost full. What is the best way/device to increase storage capacity?

I have a 1 TB Time Capsule on a wireless network with my iMac and my wife's MacBook Pro.  The TC is almost full. What is the best way/device to increase storage capacity?

Replace the Time Capsule with one that has a larger hard drive. Or erase the one you have and start a new set of backups or backup one of the computers to a different backup drive.

  • Why MacBook Storage is almost full even without files, movies and music??

Anyone can help me with this???
My MacBook Storage is almost full even without files, movies and music... why is it so???
    Thanks

    Hi Avelyn,
Click on the Apple and then About this Mac>More Info. Click on the "Storage" tab to see what is using up all of your storage.
That might help you to determine what you need to clean up.
    Cheers,
