The stuttering problem is solved, I think, I hope, Oh I hope so!

Thanks to a lot of help form people on this forum and an Apple specilist on iMovie here is what I have done.
I spent over an hour hours on the phone with a specialist on iMovie today. We ran tests to try to see what was causing the stuttering. He suggested that I try setting up another account and try to duplicated the problem in the test account. I found that impractical because I could not get to any of my sounds or movies that I had made in my profile.
Here is what I am going to try to do. I logged back into my profile and opened a movie that is stuttering. I deleated the music that I had in the lower sound track. that did not stop the stuttering. Next I opened a new movie and copied half of my voice narration into the upper sound track in the new movie. No stuttering. I copied the other half into the upper sound track, the stuttering is back. Discouraged.
Next I deleated the second half of the narration and no stuttering. I copied and pasted all but the last 9 clips of the narration and no stuttering. I saved the movie and quit iMovie. I reopened the file and NO STUTTERING. Next I will copy and paste the 59 photographs. Everything is working great, NO STUTTERS. I also copied some narration from another movie and still NO STUTTERS.
Karl Perersen described how to copy music files to a disk in the AIFF format and I have done that. I am going to finish the movie pictures, effects and narration before I put the music into my movie. And you can bet I will rename the file and make a backup.

I am making several movies of old family pictures that I will use to make a DVD. I have been working on this project for about a year and a half so I have used several versions of iLife. This current movie is only about 7 minutes long, it has about 60 photos and just over 100 clips of narration. the narration is my voice using the iSight camera as a mic.
I am trying to keep good records of the problems that I have experienced making these movies. Maybe this will help someone else. There have been several posts to this forum of other people having similar problems. I had no problems until I updated to iLife 6.0.2. Once I started trying to use iMovie 6.0.2 everything fell apart. The first thing that happened was that I got a dialog box as iMovie is loading that tells me that one of my video cards is not "Quartz Extreme" compatible.
My computer is one of the first Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5's that were sold. I don't remember the year. It has 2 GB of memory. I have two internal hard-drives, the 150 GB that came in the machine and I installed another 250 GB internal hard-drive. I also have a 115 GB and a 400 GB hard-drive, these are external drives. I have used three monitors since well before I bought the G5. The video card that Apple installed is a Radeon 9600 Pro, it is Quartz Extreme compatible. I had a Radeon VGA added when I bought the computer, it is not Quartz Extreme compatible. iMovie would run but the effects would not work properly.
The first problem that I had to deal with was the problem with the non-Quartz Extreme compatible video card. I called Apple, explained my computer system to a "specialist" upon his recommendation I bought another Radeon 9600 Pro video card only to find out that the board only fits in the AGP. There is only one AGP slot in the G5, all of us users should know that "Right" ? I called Apple back, got another "Specialist", he tells me he knows all about a Mac because he is a "Specialist", he says get a Radeon 9200. I will fit into one of the PCI slots and it is Quartz Compatible. I got the video card and installed the card, same problem, it is not Quartz Extreme compatible. I am a bit irritated at this point so I call Apple back and get another "Specialist". After explaining the problem he tells me that Apple does not test any of the video cards to see what will or will not work. He suggests that I call Radeon and nVIDIA since they make most of the video cards for the Mac. I learned nothing from them. Some one on the forum suggested that I disconnect the monitor cable from my third monitor. I did not think that it would work but it did. Now I can use iMovie and the effects do work. However, I am short one monitor. Once you use three you are spoiled with all of the monitor space.
Once I got the hardware to work I opened one of the movies that I had not completed before upgrading to 6.0.2. It had the "Stutters" so bad that I could no longer work on it. I opened a movie that I had completed before the upgrade, it stuttered also. I opened several others and they all stuttered. They will all burn to DVD and play just fine but I could do no more editing on them because of the stuttering.
If you have read the first posts in this discussion you know that I think that I have found a work-a-round to the stuttering problem. I hope that Apple will correct the software problem with an update before I have to redo all of my movies.
I had to start over this morning on the movie that I was working on yesterday, my narration was all out of sync with my pictures. But, it will be a good test to see if I can repeat the process and not have the stutters. For some reason if I copy and paste all of the narration at one time it has a slight stutter. So I had to copy in about thirds.

  • Has the updating problem been solved?

My feed was approved earlier today, but I am having some problems getting my page on the iTunes store to update.
    RSS: http://davefarmar.libsyn.com/rss
    Storefront: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=210951638
(Note: I have already pinged iTunes per the spec. I have also already tested the feed via a manual subscription request through the iTunes pulldown menu and successfully received the updated files.)
Modifications made to my initial episode are not appearing on my iTunes store page.
A test post that I added has also not appeared at the store.
Has the updating problem, which I saw posted about shortly before the new year, been solved?
    Thanks, Dave.

Looks like I just needed to be more patient (the updates have now showed up . . . sorry).

  • HAS THE IOS5  PROBLEMS BEEN SOLVED

    ios5 problems been solved yet?

No, problems still exist.  I have an iPhone 4 and it wont allow some app's to update and now I can't use them.  There are also problems with downloading from the cloud as some items will come up with an error code.  Also why did Apple force your own equipment to upload everthing to the cloud?  I now have to reload around 16GB of music back to the phone and I said previously the phone let me reload all my own songs!!
Those guys who said there no problems are lucky but also out of touch, have they not heard of all the press news about this?  I loved my phone but now its becoming frustating, needs sorting soon.

  • Has anyone had any success solving the stuttering problem in iTunes?

A few months ago, my iTunes began skipping after playing fine for twenty minutes or so.  The skips or stutters then get closer and closer together until it is simply unlistenable.  A restart finds the tunes that skipped before now working fine, but with new ones eventually stuttering.  My RAM and HD space are in good shape.  Advisors have offered assistance, but to no avail.  (Neither was familiar with the problem).  Judging from the number of entries one gets when Googling "iTunes skipping", I'd say this is a well-documented problem, yet nobody connected with Apple seems to know exactly what I'm talking about.  I've tried fixing permissions, re-installing Snow Leopard, resetting PRAM, safe-booting;  my next step is uninstalling and re-installing iTunes, which disheartens me because of all the people who have tried it to no avail.  Any ideas?

To be honest if you had experienced it you would know exactly what i am talking about. I am running a top of the range retina display and get a bad laging issues when doing something a simple as maybe changing the volume of a kick in ultra beat and it will freeze for 30 odd seconds. it shouldnt be happening with such a powerful machine. I have reinstalled it, i have tried it in loew res i have tried it in 64 bit all of which still have the same issue. Even after being in to the apple store and being on the phone numerous times i still havent come to a conclusion therefore i was trying to gauge if anyone else had the same issues or if apple just need to hurry up and release an update.

  • THE STUTTERING PROBLEM FIXED FOR EVERYONE!!!

    GUYS IVE GOT IT
OPEN WINDOWS TASK MANAGER AND SET ITUNES.EXE PRIORITY TO HIGH
THIS SHOULD WORK FOR EVERYONE SINCE IT WORKED FOR ME, MY MOM, 3 OF MY FRIENDS, AND MY OLDER BROTHER
IF IT DOESNT WORK SET PRIORITY TO REALTIME
THIS FIX SHOULD ONLY REALLY BE USED FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE HIGH END SYSTEMS AND HAVE AT LEAST 2.0 GHZ DULA CORE PROC. AND 1GB OF RAM
SORRY FOR TYPING IN CAPS JUST THOUGHT IT WOULD DRAW ATTENTION.
    PROPS

I know this is a workaround but-it works right
i think it has to do with the new interfaces that use the album art and frames of movies etc.
itunes does not have enough resources to continue playong the music and rendering those graphics which is why the higher priority fixes it.
    apple-please
you guys did something to this version since v6 please just remove that feature.
hey i really dont care about album art and gapless playing if it makes my songs play all weird.

  • Comments concerning the stuttering dilemma (may help Adobe programmers?)

Thought I would put up this wild hunch concerning the stuttering problems in Flash
that some people are having (with all different versions of Windows).
I wonder how many out there having this problem used (or are using) Registry
cleaners? I did, playing it safe for a while then allowed it (I used Acronis) to
"clean" all it found. I think it took our some inportant files (dll's etc) that it
shouldn't have. I ended up with (and still do) a dead Silverlight and WMP 11 - I
believe both of these are built in to Windows system (at least WMP is don't know
for sure on Silverlight). All of this happened about 6 months ago or so. Then maybe
a Flash update came out that maybe needed one of those files (or information in the
registry) and it's causing stuttering (just a very uneducated guess).
Note: Both Chrome and FF work fine in Flash (our backups for viewing videos now) and maybe
neither depend on the MS operating system as much as Silverlight and WMP.
So again how many out there with these similar stuttering problems used registry
cleaners? A MS tech asked me that question (if I used cleaners) and he gave me a
couple of links that humbled me after reading them. Never went back to those
cleaners again. Here are those links:
    http://chris.pirillo.com/are-registry-cleaners-safe-to-use/
    http://www.edbott.com/weblog/2005/04/why-i-dont-use-registry-cleaners/
Anyway hope this helps solve this dilemma.
    Edit: Forgot to include some links that had stuttering problems;
Video freezes for a few seconds multiple times but audio continues ok
Flash player stutters for 1 second then continues normally

Thank you for your post.  I couldn't agree more with your warning about "registry cleaners"; they cause lots of problems, and solve none.
I actually have no idea why someone would want to use such a "tool"...

  • Audio stuttering problems with certain exported MP4 files

I'm currently running Captivate 6.1.0.319 on my old and decrepit Pentium 4 machine that has 4GB of RAM and is running Windows 7 SP1. I'm developing an online training course on RoboHelp 10 for Udemy, and they require all lecture files to be in MP4 format. Unfortunately, some of the MP4 files I generate from Captivate have audio stuttering starting a few seconds into the generated video and nothing I try fixes the problem.
All the videos are being recorded with video dimensions of 1360 x 978 pixels. I import the .cptc file I recorded into the .cptx file, and then I import an MP4 audio file into the .cptx file. When I finish editing the .cptx file, I publish it to an MP4 file using the highest video settings and the highest variable bitrate audio settings.
I have tried the following to try to fix the problem:
    Turned off SWF compression.
Created a new .cptx file and copied the slide from the problem .cptx file into the new one, and published that new .cptx file.
Disabled all software operating in the foreground and the background.
Tried generating the MP4 file on my laptop; the laptop runs the same version of Captivate on Windows 8.
As I said, Captivate generates some MP4 files perfectly without any stuttering, and others have the stuttering problem. If this problem sounds familiar, it's because I wrote a couple of messages about this a few months ago and despite some good suggestions, I wasn't able to solve the problem. I've spent my time during the past few months trying to find another program that will convert SWF files to one of the formats Udemy supports -- MP4, MOV, or FLV -- without success. Captivate exports to SWF and HTML5 format files without any trouble at all. But MP4 generation is spotty and I need to get this resolved so I can get this project off my plate and start making money off it.
If you have any further questions, please let me know. I look forward to hearing your suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Eric Butow

    Hi,
I am having the same issue and cannot figure out what is causing it, as it occurs randomly - but fairly frequently  - when I publish to mp4. And it is not tied to the project - seems to be something happening during the publishing. The issue might occur one time when pubishing a project and if republished again it may or may not occur again. I would be very interested in finding exactly what is causing this and any step that are tested and proven for getting away from the problem.

  • TS1559 WIFI solutions proposed by Apple are not working. Does oneone how to solve the WIFI problems?

    Dear Apple.
I was really happy with my iphone4s, IOS 6.0, great product amazing quality and posibilities BUT.......
I updated from IOS 6.0 to 6.1.1. and the WIFI nightmare started.
I waited for a new update to fix the WIFI problems and I updated my iphone 4s from 6.1.1. to 6.1.2. in order to solve these problems related with WIFI connections.
But IOS 6.1.2. is even worst:
    - WIFI is not working at all. So I cannot download apps greater than 50MB.
    - Battery life is shorter than ever.
    - 3G goes in and out every minute.
    - When you operate the iphone4s you can realize that is hotter than before.
These problems are unnaceptable and inconsistent with a high quality standard product.
You can read a lot of blogs, I am not the only one.
Please give us a solution as soon as possible.
    Best Regards
    AICITEL

    Hi,
I had HUGE issues with a BlueAnt Q2 on the 4, and after five exchanges, I had to get rid of the phone becuase the Apple store admited that they had "some bluetooth issues."
I still have the Q2, and I was wondering the same thing becuase I realy want an iphone.

  • TS1559 Because the company does not solve this problem?

Because the company does not solve this problem?
My iphone 4s has 14 months of use, this new and does not work!
So I want a "smartphone" that does not work?
Here in Brazil, to exchange charged me around 400 dollars. I have not changed because I can not, I paid the apple store around 1,360 dollares and does not work?
I am very disappointed with the apple!

    Thanks Michael,
I take the device into Apple and they said that if I pay $ 400 they give me a new one.
I personally think this is absurd considering that I paid so dearly,
but in the end, I am very disappointed.
Probably my first and last iPhone.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components; this won't affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.
