The system update is driving me crazy ;)

Hi,
I have thinkpad w530, every time that I use the system update it's says that I need to upgrade the "Intel rapid storage AHCI driver". After I restart and open the system update, it's tells me again that I need to update the "Intel rapid storage AHCI driver", and the story go again and again…
It's always change between these two versions: 12.8.10.1005 and 11.2.0.1006

Which version of windows are you using? I assume win7.
For version 12.8, on a w530, Win8 or win8.1 is required. Per readme.txt, version 12.8, on a w530 running win 7 IS NOT SUPPORTED.
Version 11.2 , runs on a W530, with xp/vista/win7.
Since you are win7, w530 version 11.2 is the correct version to use. You can tell Sytem Update to HIDE the version 12.8 offering. If you state your machine type (w530) and model number, Lenovo can check the Package bundle on the server and see if a bug exists in the Package.

Read the readme.txt link above. Follow the instructions stating how to determine which version is installed on your system. Please state the version you have installed on your machine.

Thanks Paul; but, taking your suggestion didn't solve the problem. As mail is part of the OS, the updates don't have the capacity to reinstall applications; so, I had to reinstall the OS. I now have my mail back (although it didn't appear on the dock--I had to go to applications and activate it and then put it back in the dock. Thanks again for trying.

Last night I wiped the phone and did a complete restore. Lo and behold the wifi was working again after the restore finished. GREAT. 30 minutes later went to look at the phone and no wifi again, great!
So if my wifi chip coincidentally fried itself during the update, I supposed it coincidentally unfried itself during the restore, only to fry itself again later. Clever chips these.

I have a ThinkPad X40. I tried to reformat it using the recovery partition, but that failed... great system huh? Anyway, i installed Windows XP using a different CD and i tried to install the ThinkVantage System Update and got an Error 1722.
There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A progam run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action StartSuService.EXE, location: ...\startsuservice.exe "
It had placed an executable entry in my start menu, so i tried to run it and got "A problem occured while loading the system update......" which seems to have been experienced by a lot of people. Looks like i'm at a dead end here as well... So far the Laptop has been fine with everything apart from lenovo software...
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

I have an ipad with 8.1.1 software. I lost my thumbnails on my movies after one of the system updates but not sure which one since I don 't look at the movies that often.

So what? The second-hand shop you bought it from didn't follow the right procedures. You also didn't follow the right procedures to make sure that iPhone was not in Activation Lock. It's like buying a car for cash but not getting the title signed over to you. It's not your car if you don' have the title. And that's not legally your iPhone if the previous owner's Apple ID is still registered to the device for Find My iPhone/Activation Lock.
Only a proof of purchase from the ORIGINAL retail store would do any good at all. Return the device to where you bought it and demand your money back. If they refuse, either get a lawyer and/or turn in the device to local police. If you're in possession of stolen property, then the cops won't care about where you got it from.

Unfortunately that is not possible any longer. My advice is to take the update. You'll have to at some point or either you'll accidentally accept it. The HD voice and video works well between compatible phones. And, if you run into a problem, better now than later.

Software update freeze on the system update

quicktime, iTunes, etc. updates worked okay if I restart one at a time....... but I tried repeatedly to get the 10.5.5 system update and it freezes every time. Is there a workaround????

Did the system updates prepping me for Lion cause these glitches?

Good Morning.
Last week System Updates sent me a bunch of updates to prep my MB for Lion. As I was planning to upgrade to Lion anyway I went ahead and did them. My MB was up to date on all systems and updates before I ran them. I have since decided to postpone the Lion update but now, I've got lots of wonky behavior. Nothing serious. No loss of files or anything. Just ill timed little glitches that are wreaking havoc on my productivity. Some of what is happening:
1) I can't bookmark anything. The pop down menu does as it should but only shows what I want to bookmark. The pop down for the destination folder isn't there. This is a biggee for me as I use this alot.
2) I get thrown off the net a LOT. I get the 'You are not connected to the internet' message at least 6 times a day. No rhyme or reason to it and my connection at the box is just fine. If I go through the motions of 'diagnostics' for a minute or two and clear the cache then it wil 'reconnect'.
3) Many sites that I had no problem accessing before while using Private Browsing will no longer work unless I have it turned off.
4) Sometimes when typing, the words post slower than typed and I have to wait for them to catch up so I have lots of errors to deal with.
These are just what I can remember right now. And what can I/should I do about it?

No, I do not have a DROID 1. Yes I have experienced slowness after an update without performing a system reset. Doing the exact same update after a system reset I did not experience the system sluggishness. Backing up your app settings and then reloading them after the update will do basically the same thing as nothing if those settings ARE THE REASON that is causing the system sluggishness. I suggested doing the system reset and then reinstalling the apps, not just reloading the app settings. Verizon is not responsible for your apps causing system sluggishness, they do not write or guarantee the performance of any apps you get off the app market. Whenever they even mention an app available on the marketplace, they will go so far to say "download these apps at your own risk." Another thing that may help without a system reset is to delete all of your apps and then reload them 1 or 2 at a time and waiting a few days to see how they interact with your system. If everything is still fine, go ahead with a few more. When you experience sluggishness, you have found your culprit.

Hello. A couple of days ago, my microphone and camera suddenly stopped working. When I started up my camera in Skype, it said "Please open YouCam" or something like that, and when I did, it told me to update it. So I did. Then it told me that I had to uninstall the current version of YouCam. When I did and tried to install the update, it said something like "no video device detected".
After updating drivers and un-/installing things, I recovered my whole computer to fabric options. Still not working. So I suspect that it might have something to do with the hardware. Although I don't know what should have caused it, as it just happened randomly in the middle of the day.

Try the User Tip suggestions first. Your system does need a plist, but a properly working OS X automatically generates any needed plist files when you launch the associated app (if its plist does not already exist.)

Entire System Freezes once the phone is turned on after the system update

I recently updated my software, and now whenever I turn the phone on, it instantly freezes. Nothing works, not even the clock. When I press the power button to put it into sleep mode, a blank screen reappears where only the top bar is visible. It is impossible to turn the phone off with the power button...only removing the battery works.
What's going on with this?

I understand your frustration regarding the screen on your Droid X. Thank you Cody21 for your suggestion to clear the cache. Have you attempted these steps? I have listed them below.
Wiping cache partition - cures many ills and is better to start with this than a full Factory Reset.
Power off
Power On Holding Home Key
When the Android with Exclamation Point Shows up Press BOTH Volume keys
Use Volume Keys to navigate to "wipe cache partition" and tap power button to select
Wait for it to finish and select reboot system
If this does not resolve the issue for you, please complete a master reset. I have listed these steps below.
Please note: The master reset erases all data from your phone, including your Google or other email account settings, system and application data and settings, and downloaded applications. It resets your device back to it's original settings. It will not erase current system software and bundled applications, or files stored on an optional installed memory card, such as music or photos. For this reason, please make sure that the data on your device is backed up.
Press and hold the Power button then select Power off. If the device isn't responding to input, remove / replace the battery.
Press and hold the Home key then press power button to turn on.
Press the Power button while holding Home.
From the Android Recovery screen (exclamation point with an android figure), press Volume Up / Down simultaneously.
Select wipe data / factory reset then press the Power button.
Select Yes -- delete all user data then press the Power button. Reset process to may take approximately 1 minute.
Ensure reboot system now is selected then press the Power button.

The Pen Tool is driving me CRAZY!!!

Not using roto bezier. I have some basic frame by frame masking that I need to do. When I click and drag a point to a new position, after I release the mouse, the point moves to a random position FAR from where I dropped it. To rub salt in the wound, I have to Undo (Ctrl+Z) 2-3 times to get it back to the original position (before I moved it). This happens randomly but very often. I've determined that It's not my (wired optical) mouse. This behavior happens with two other wireless mice as well. I am using version CS5 on a Dell Precision machine with a Quadro FX 4800 card and have been dealing with this issue for 2 years now. Any insight is appreciated! Thanks.

Well, I'll be damned. OpenGL was turned off when I checked. This behavior has continued through about 4-5 driver updates. Lo and behold, the latest driver (released 7/3/2013) seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks Mylenium!

Constant updating is driving me crazy

Firefox is constantly updating -- searching for "improvements" -- this just intrudes on what I'm doing. Additionally, until I deal with this intrusion, it resets my start page and opens the Firefox page instead -- then I've got to reset my start page. This might come as a surprise to you, but I've got better things to do than marvel at the wonders of Firefox. I'd like to actually get some work done and not have to bother with all this nonsense. I'm starting to switch to Chrome or I will go back to Explorer because of this bothersome feature.

We'll keep the light on for you.
