hi i need to sync my iphone 4 to regain contacts but the screen is absolutely smashed and i cant swipe it, and the last comp used to back it up is asking me to respond via the phone to unlock? theres no password just swipe but i cant use the screen, any ideas??
Your contacts are not sync'd with a computer or at icloud.com?

I am having trouble running videos through Safari but not Google Chrome. All I get is a black screen. I have the latest adobe flash update and have enabled plug ins. any suggestions?
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
Not empty the Safari cache.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
Now try a video. -
i have a macbook pro and need to send a password protected document to a pc based computer and it shows up at the other end as corrupted and they can't open it- any suggestions on how to make it work?

Does the username and password you try to use have administrator privileges? You must input an admin username and password to install.

okay so , my ipod is about two years old and went through the washer and dryer. no one has used it for two years because no one ever took the time to fix it, until now when my previous ipod cracked and barley works now. So i took it upon my time to fix this washed ipod and i have been able to successfully restore it and , backup, and restore backup. i have also reset the network settings, and still my wifi is dimmed out and wont let me switch it on, i have read the apple websites resolution to this problem and i have tried it and they do not seem to work as my wifi is still DIMMED out. I would like to switch over to this one because my cracked one is hard to use, but in order for me to use this one it would be very nice to have wifi so i could download apps, and when i restored and reset the ipod to act like a new one, it wont even let me sign in to my apple id because i do not have Internet, now the funny part is my wifi is working fine for my 5 family members and their phones/android tablets, i am the only one who has an apple device. please right back!!! thanks!

Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF

I think ive just done it! I think ive been in Safari clicking file, open files, downloads - and thats where it was grey. i just went from the 'Finder' icon and was able to download its doing it now. i think i need some tuition as i dont know if i wasi n the wrong place initially but i could see the downloads just not click on them. hey guys my dad was updating his phone and it was taking too long so he pulled it out cos he had to leave and the screen stayed in the update screen and now the phone is frozen and wont budge. it wont hook up to the compter either. i have pulled the sim out and nothing.. what do i do????

Can anyone tell why my Itunes will only play 5 or 6 songs on shuffle then stop even in the middle of a song, and the only way to fix it is to exit Itunes completley and reopen it?????

Hi, i've also been having a very similar problem with my ipod as well. I find that regardless of which windows-based pc i use (either my xp laptop @ home, or my win2000 desktop @ work) windows and itunes refuses to recognise my ipod. In windows explorer it will show it as a removable drive, but if i click on it, windows freezes. If I try to disconnect it, I cant because windows keeps reporting that 'the device is being used, try disconnecting later' and so then i shut down my laptop to disconnect it safely.
Lately, like you, i've also noticed that clicking sound it makes. It happens when i connect my ipod to my computer - like the drive inside it is constantly restarting or something, and i get it when i'm playing / charging it in my dock. I've also noticed that when it's playing whilst charging, it just freezes on a song, then skips a couple of songs.
I've just discovered the disgnostic tools on my ipod, so i think i'll run a couple of tests (ie HDD scan) and depending on the outcome, i'll go visit the apple store. -

Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPhone.
I recommend following steps 2-6 for an issue like the one you described:
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on),reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

Try moving the existing backup file to a safe location so iTunes has to make an entire new file. It is located here:
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: If you do not see the AppData or Application Data folders, you may need to show hidden files (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7), or iTunes may not be installed in the default location. Show hidden files and then search the hard drive for the Backup directory.
