  • HT1657 The rented movie has stalled while viewing and won't progress.  1h28m44sec into the movie. What to do?

    Rented a movie, it has stalled at 1.28.44 - and won't go further.  Rebooted.  Nothing.  What to do?

    Apple support came up with the following option, which actuall seemed to work:  Hold the option key and click on the movie.  This will generate a new dialog box, click on "Play Selected" and magic seems to happen.  Go figure.

  • The SxS nightmare has begun.

    I always thought the EX1 SxS card could be read on any computer with and express card slot. Not so!!! You actually need a special SxS card reader which costs 400 Euros. Congratulations Sony for the many hidden costs.
    Right now when you get an EX1 you still need to get at least 1,500 euros worth of extra batteries, SxS cards and and SxS reader... not counting the extra microphone. Users be aware of that. HDV has its adavantages.

    The Kensington is inferior because it does not allow the door protecting the SxS cards to close. Otherwise it works, but it's been discontinued AFAIK so the ones you might see are older stock. If one wishes to operate an EX1 or EX3 with the card door open, then the Kensington works, I have 2 of them but don't use them now that I have 2 MxS holders.
    The Delkin did allow the door to close and worked fine, but was replaced by a newer Delkin version which didn't allow the door to close. A call to the Delkin customer service dept. revealed that there were plans to re-manufacture the first card holder but then that plan appears to have been scrapped.
    This is why the MxS card holder is now the new kid on the block and is available and shipping at a very low cost even with international shipping charges back to the USA. Doubtless there will be more and more products similar to this available in the future so brand loyalty would probably be tied to price at that point.

  • The final movie has some video errors

    Hi everyone!
    I am doing an HD project for a client on FCP. I edited the video and exported the movie in QT format. But then I got a bunch of AVs with it and I realized that the hard-drive was MS DOS formatted... So I copied the project from that HD to a Mac-formatted HD using the Media Manager.... And I again exported the video as QT movie... The problem is this that it plays fine on QT Player but when I try to burn a DVD, it says video error...
    I need to give this project to the client on a DVD so can somebody please guide me?

    I need to give this project to the client on a DVD
    Do they need a data DVD or a DVD-Video?

  • The Waiting game has begun

    I just placed an order for my first macintosh, i've been saving my money and just browsing the forums for months and now it comes to me just waiting a few more days. I got the 20" iMac with the 256 video card and 2 gigs of ram. I decided to switch to mac because my last computer died on me after 3 years of use and i just got fed up with all the stupid windows problems. I hope that i don't have any problems with my new iMac.
    This may seem like a stupid question but is there a chance that i could recieve this earlier than expected? I put in for next day shipping and its friday right now and the expected date is the 4th or 5th of october. If not oh well, i can't wait to come home and see this thing.
    Imac 20" Core 2 Duo 2.16GHz 256 VRAM 2 GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Congrats on the idea to switch to Mac. Welcome to the Apple discussions, and the Mac community. You're going to like it.
    I switched a year ago. I ordered a 17 inch iMac G5, and I got my iMac within 7 days. This was very fast, and had no problems with it. It's a computer so it's going to take a little longer to ship than if you were buying a T-shirt online.
    It'll be there soon, and you'll agree with me that it was worth the wait.

  • When I export my project, the exported .mov has green and grey bits in it?, When I export my project, the exported mov has green and grey bits in it?

    I am using Final Cut Pro Version 6.05.
    What I mean by green and grey bits is that in the exported footage randomly some scenes will be replaced with a green or grey screen instead the footage. The audio remains the same.

  • Flash CS3 ActionScript and "Test Movie" on Mac

    I recently switched over to a PowerMac and Flash CS3 from
    Flash 8 on a PC.
    I've been on a PC forever but wanted to migrate over to the
    Mac as XP and Vista and the headaches we all know about.
    So, within Flash you can "Test Movie" and a little test
    window pops up displaying your swf.
    It has always been the case on the PC, and my friends with
    Flash 8 on the Mac tell me it's the same for them, that you can be
    writing in the Actions panel and then hit "Control/Apple - Enter"
    and the ActionScript actions you just typed will be reflected in
    the "Test Movie" pop up. In other words it the "Test Movie" window
    acts as a constantly updated reflection of the latest edit to your
    Flash piece, regardless of whether you've "Saved" the .fla document
    itself.
    This is part of the normal work flow to me. Write some
    actions, edit them, when they are right, I save. But in the
    meantime, as I'm writing I can keep hitting "Control/Apple - Enter"
    to watch the changes of my edits and I'll see them.
    Well, on my new Mac with Flash CS3, the "Test Movie" window
    never updates to the latest edit. Whether with hot-keys or with the
    cursor/menu selection, the window will not reflect the latest edit,
    UNLESS, I close it first. If I close it, and then hit the
    hot-keys/menu for "Test Movie" then it will load my latest edit
    (regardless of whether the .fla is saved). So it seems that closing
    the pop up "Test Movie" window prior to is the only way to ensure
    getting the current edit/actions to preview.
    If you write a lot of actions script, then I'm sure you can
    agree that adding that "close the window" step into your work flow
    is really really a headache. And, if I can't find a way around
    that, sadly, I'll have to migrate back to the PC, ugh, and Flash
    CS3 on it, which still acts as it always has, with "control-enter"
    faithfully launching the current edit.
    Any ideas? Have you experienced this.

    You have to switch the focus back to the application and then
    to the test window. Evidently between Flash MX04 (the one I have to
    test) and CS3, they made it so that just clicking in the AS editor
    window doesn't return the focus to the application. In that case
    the Testing Environment intercepts the apple-enter and just
    re-tests the already compiled version.
    If you click the application window, then click the
    actionscript window, it will recompile the swf. However I
    personally don't find apple-w to close the window so
    onerous.

  • No  images in Test Movie

    ?I am following the Studio 8 Cafe Townsend Tutorial.
    I have copy and pasted the ActionScript code that makes the
    slideshow animate. In the Test Movie, the title and descriptions
    are working but no images - which I have checked are in the
    cafe_townsend/images folder. I am stuck!

    I am working through the Studio 8 handbook / pdf which I am
    following to the letter. I am wondering if I made a mistake in
    Fireworks (Tutorial 7 : Handling Photographs) althoug I have the
    images in cafe_townsend/images. Any ideas?

  • Blurry image on test movie

    Hey, wondering if there is a solution to this, or if its just
    how it is...
    See this pic:
    http://www.expansiondesign.com/Picture%203.png
    The left half is how the jpeg looks on the stage, the right
    is how it looks when I "test movie"
    (The "test movie" window is sitting over the top of the stage
    - hence the drop shadow)
    The image doesn't have smoothing on, is set to jpeg
    compression, and uses imported jpeg data.
    Cheers
    B

    Can you post your fla?

  • CS4 Flash Test Movie won't work!

    I have been working on my final project for class all week. Suddenly tonight once I have finally worked through so many bugs in transfering things into the thing, I can't get the "Test Movie" option to work to view anything. I even tried to view just the scene. It keeps making these flashes and then basically stays where it's at. Anyone have any ideas? I'm frustrated and lost!
    Thanks.

    No error messages are coming up anywhere! That is why I don't understand why nothing is working.

  • TS1410 MY LAP TOP DOES NOT RECOGNIZE MY IPOD. AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES I GET A MESSAGE THAT SAYS MY IPOD HAS BEEN CORRUPTED AND NEEDS TO BE RESTORED. ALSO THE IPOD ITSELF HAS FROZEN AND CAN NOT BE TURNED OFF OR RE-SET BUY HOLDING THE MIDDLE BUTTON.

    MY LAPTOP DIES NOT RECOGNIZE MY IPOD. AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES I GET A MESSAGE THAT SAYS MY IPOD HAS BEEN CORRUPTED AND NEEDS TO BE RESTORED. ALSO AFTER THE IPOD HAS BEEN CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER THE IPOD WILL FREEZE. I AM ONLY ABLE TO USE IT AFTER THE BATTERY HAS RUN OUT. WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THESE PROBLEMS AND HOW DO I RESTORE MY IPOD!!!!!

    Hey gwscrt,
    Since iTunes directed to you to restore your iPod, I'd check out the following article that goes over the steps to do so:
    Restoring iPod to factory settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1339
    I would read the document in full, but here are the applicable steps for you:
    How to restore iPod
    Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.
    Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.
    Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
    After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
    Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
    Click Restore.
    If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.
    A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
    Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
    Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
    During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
    Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
    After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.
    Have a good one,
    David

  • Unable to test Movie

    Hello,
    I've been reading on this site the various solutions to a
    problem that I may have. However none of the solutions I have tried
    have worked. I'm using Flash MX 2004 Pro.
    My problem is that I have created a simple animation using
    motion tween. It does not load in the Test movie screen at all.
    Only one of the layers can be seen. I have checked the scripting
    (apparently there isn't any, but this could be the problem). I have
    tried publishing it amongst other things. I can view the animation
    quite well in the normal stage panel. I've also tested it on
    another machine and the problem still exists.
    Many thanks to anyone who may be able to help me.

    Could be many problems. You may want to make the source file
    available for
    others to download and look at.

  • Burrito: Test Movie

    I seem to have lost the ability to run the Test Movie command from Flash Builder Burrito, it no longer shows up in the Run menu for Flash Professional projects.

    The internal player and browser player are two totally
    separate applications.
    The one in browser get updated frequently while your
    authoring player won't.
    Often the case when macromedia/adobe left unfixed bugs in the
    user IDE
    fixing them later with the browser players. This would do the
    very thing you
    describe. SOme stuff works or won't work while authoring but
    will or will not
    in browser.
    Perhaps that's the case in here.

  • Browseforopen works only in Test Movie

    Greetings,
    I'm here to ask some basic help.
    I have this code embedded in a Adobe Air 2 .fla :
    import flash.filesystem.File;
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    import flash.events.Event;
    var fileChooser:File = File.userDirectory;
    function doSelect(e:Event):void
         trace (e.target.nativePath);
         var pic:Loader = new Loader();
         pic.load(new URLRequest(e.target.nativePath));
         addChild(pic);
          pic.y+=40;
    fileChooser.browseForOpen("Open");
    fileChooser.addEventListener(Event.SELECT, doSelect);
    When I test the Movie (ctrl-enter style ^^) I can see the browse window showing up but, when I publish swf and exe version the browseforopen simply doesn't work without any error.
    Is that something simple and noobish that I miss?
    Thanks a lot in advance

    The example in the documentation was outside any event, called like mine:
    import flash.filesystem.*;
    import flash.events.Event;
    import flash.net.FileFilter;
    var fileToOpen:File = new File();
    var txtFilter:FileFilter = new FileFilter("Text", "*.as;*.css;*.html;*.txt;*.xml");
    try
        fileToOpen.browseForOpen("Open", [txtFilter]);
        fileToOpen.addEventListener(Event.SELECT, fileSelected);
    catch (error:Error)
        trace("Failed:", error.message);
    function fileSelected(event:Event):void
        var stream:FileStream = new FileStream();
        stream.open(event.target, FileMode.READ);
        var fileData:String = stream.readUTFBytes(stream.bytesAvailable);
        trace(fileData);
    I've tried anyway with button and in the test movie everything works fine, but in the app even the button won't showing up.
    I've also try to do the same with a button inside the flash builder.. crtl f11 run all the funcionality. The generated app won't open the browse window.

  • The airplay icon has disappeared from my desk top. It was there two weeks ago, so I can't watch movies I've downloaded from iTunes and flick them over to my TV.

    The airplay icon has disappeared from my MAC desktop. It was there two weeks ago when I successfully used it to 'flick a movie i had purchased from iTunes over to my tv. Also, if I rent the movie through iTunes, why (because of the above issue) when I go to 'Purchased' it doesn't display as an option when actually using Apple TV, it doesn't display but when I go to rent it again a message comes up saying "you have already rented this movie, do you want to rent it again"? Frustrated!!

    Ok Fellas, let me give you a clue:  Games, particularly those that make heavy use of graphics and sound are notoriously power hungry.  In fact, when I was in the Navy many years ago, the folks working on the NTDS (Navy Tactical Data System)  computers used a version of Space Invaders to load test the AN/UYK-43 computers.
    I have also noticed that all of my laptops (I have a brand new Toshiba dual core, an older Toshiba single core, plus 2 Dell dual core machines) have significantly shorter battery life when I play Company of Heroes than when I am just reading e-mail or surfing the 'Net.  I have also noticed the same behavior when I play games on my 4th gen Touch and my iPhone 4.
    The fact is, iOS 5 did make some major improvements as well as adding some nice functionality like iMessage, wireless synch, and such, but the down side is that depending on how you use the device battery life can be shorter that what you may have experienced with pervious versions of iOS.  Its just the nature of the beast...
    We now return you to our regularly scheduled programming.....
    Oh John....  Oh Marsha.....
