The TestStand Engine cannot be initialized. Path not found.

Hi, up until now i installed and removed TestStand 3.5 3 times in a row, just to always get this message (see subject) when i try to start the Sequence Editor. I even uninstalled all NI-Software i had on this laptop to reinstall the whole package... Nothing worked. Now i wonder, is there anything i am doing wrong ? What can i do to get TestStand running ?
Well, on that message when i hit OK, another message
The sequence editor cannot start up. Unable to create the TestStand Engine.
Hitting OK on that message again just terminates the sequence editor leaving me with a blank screen.
Any ideas whats wrong ?
best regards and thanks in advance,
Ingo

Ingo -
Sorry for your frustration. Your idea to uninstall and reinstall should typically work. The second message is just a result of the first error, so we need to figure out what path is not found, and it is unclear why this is occurring. I tried to force my copy of TestStand 3.5 to fail in a similiar way by messing around with the installation and I could not find a way to cause the "Path not found" error. I got many other more detailed errors, but I have been unable to duplicate your message.
Some questions:
1) What operating system are you using?
2) Are you installing to the default location under Program Files? Are you using a network path in any way?
3) Do you have write authority to the the installation locations on you system?
4) Are you logged in as an administrator when installing, restarting, and launching the sequence editor.
5) Have you manually messed with any of the registry settings under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\National Instruments\TestStand\3.5, where something is incorrect?
6) Have you added any User components under the TestStand directory that might somehow load and cause an issue?
If you currently have an installation on the system, you could quickly try to clear out the Cfg directory under TestStand, so that it generates new copies of these files.

  • SPM in CUP in a SAP GRC AC 5.3 -- "Approver not found" & "Path not found"

    hello,
I have a problem when I try to do a request.
I have configured the SPM in the CUP in a SAP GRC AC 5.3
I gives me an error about "Error creating request. Approver not found ". When I took out the Manager in the Stage it gave me this error in the request "Error creating request. Path not found".
    Best regards.
    Pablo Mortera.

You can either type in the configuration, like the what option you selected for approver (CAD or role or...etc), or other way is to capture the change log which shows what was the configuration for that stage....
(Configuration -< Change Log -> Search Change log)
    Cheers !!

    Hi,
Take a look at below threads where this issue is discussed,

Also, is it a 64 bit machine? check the target platform of the application and set it accordingly.
    Few things to try
    - Check if the reports exist and are accessible by the application (permissions, filepath,)
    - Do not publish the report using the publish option, just as a test copy them manually.
    See if this helps,
    - Bhushan.

  • Silent Install of the TestStand Engine 2.0.1

I am trying to do an unattended install of the TestStand Engine 2.0.1. I am using the "-noprompt" switch which makes the install silent except at the very end I get a dialogue box that say "You must reboot this computer...". I am also using InstallShield Professional 6.0 from which I launch then NI TestStand 2.0.2 engine.
Does anyone have a solution to do a completely silent install?
    Thanks...Eric

    Eric,
In general, we don't support creating silent installers because InstallShield isn't our development product. However, I have some information that may be of help. A normal (non-silent) installation receives the necessary input from the user in the form of responses to dialog boxes. As you know, a silent installation does not prompt the user for input. A silent installation must get its user input from a different source. That source is the InstallShield Silent Response File (.iss file). A response file contains information similar to that which an end user would enter as responses to dialog boxes when running a normal setup. InstallShield Silent reads the necessary input from the response file at run time.
The format of response files resembles that of
an .ini file, but response files have .iss extensions. A response file is a plain text file consisting of sections containing data entries. There are two ways in which you can create an InstallShield Silent Response File: you can run the setup and have InstallShield record and create the response file for you, or you can write the response file from scratch. It should be possible for you to create a response file that would contain a newline to confirm the reboot prompt. Your InstallShield documentation should provide more information regarding how you should create the response file.
If you have any more questions, let us know.

  • Error: prevented the text engine from being initialized

I am getting the following error when attempting to use the text tool with my photoshop (12.0) - windows 7.
"could not complete your request because something prevented the text engine from being initialized"
I've attempted to follow some posts from others to fix without success.
There are two fonts in my fonts folder that are shortcuts - and the fonts don't exist in the folder. Also, I can't delete the shortcut font from the fonts folder.
(I'm posting this now... and might have a solution. Just in case, I want this conversation started.)
    TIA,
    Greg

Usually that means that you have a corrupt font or a corrupt OS font cache.
See this document for more troubleshooting steps: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/troubleshoot-fonts-photoshop-cs5.html
Also, make sure you have all the Photoshop updates installed.

  • How can I set the TestStand Engine tracing options to be on or off through automatically within my sequence file?

    Hello,
I am looking for a way, where I do not have to set the Station Options manually. I want to make sure that whenever someone is running my sequence, the sequence should make sure that the "Tracing Enabled" options gets disabled somehow. I know the tracing option is actually a setting of the TestStand engine, but I want to implement it within my sequence.
Please let me know if this is doable. If yes, what will be the best approach?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Niraj
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Depends on why you want to disable tracing. One of these might work for you:
    1) Lock the file as not viewable.
    2) Set RunState.Tracing to false as the first step in your sequence (still get the first trace message for the sequence though)
    3) On sequence calls to the sequence set the sequence call trace setting to disabled. (not enforced though).
    Hope this helps,
    -Doug

  • What do you need to deploy the Teststand Engine?

I just received TestStand 3.5 (semi familiar with 2.1) and am trying
out the "Common Deployment Scenarios" described in the TestStand
Reference Manual.  Unfortunatly I am not completely seing what is
described in the manual.  Specificaly, the "Deploying the
TestStand Engine" and "Distributing Tests From a Workspace" contain
steps that instruct to check the option to add an operator interface in
the "TestStand Engine Options" dialog box.
Why am I not seing this option?  Did something change in 3.5 that
didn't get change in the manual?  Am I missing a licence?

Not unless you are using TestStand wich I don't think you are.  From this post and your other post on the forum it looks like you are just working with LabVIEW at this time.  TestStand is a seperate appliation for quickly creating sequences for automated test.
Your best bet would be to keep posting in the LabVIEW forum and I would recomend starting a new post of your own too.  Replying to old post with new questions get things side tracked.

  • I cannot post pics on ebay. Message:0000\Root\mg.bmp path not found. I switch to IE andpost pics easily. What gives?

Why can't I post pictures on ebay with FireFox? I have to switch to IE to use ebay.
I always get the error message: "0000\Root\mg.bmp path not found."

From what I've gathered, the "Basic" (non-Flash) ebay uploader is broken on Firefox 16. There is a "Standard" uploader that should work, since according to "more system details". you have the Flash plugin.

  • Lauch failed (initial content not found)

    Hi all,
I've run in to a nasty error:
I have an MXML file which indicates an error next to it's filename (the little x in the red box). However, when I open it Flash builder does not indicate an error on any of it's lines. Removing newly written content and saving did not help.
After a while trying 'stuff' I tried the "Clean..." option from the project menu. If I do so, Flash builder no longer shows the error until I try to run or debug the app. However... Flash Builder fails to start the app at all now .
It first states the project contains errors and If I opt to proceed building Flash Builder now gives the error:
    "Launch Failed"
    "Process terminated unexpectedly

It renders the project useless since I cannot test anything. Anyone any bright ideas?
    Kind regards,

    Hi Anirudh,
    Thanks for the tips.
I should have posted but i already figuredit out. There was à conflict with an existing flash class even though in the offending line full path to the class was defined. Most annoying was that there was no indication in the gutter.  I'll see if i can reproduce it in a barebones file to post it here.
    Kind regards
    Manno

    Hi,
I try to use FlexUnit 4 to test an air application. I use Maven antrun plugin to compile and run test
code since flex-mojos do not support FlexUnit 4 yet.
My antrun plugin is as follows,
               <plugin>
                    <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
                    <artifactId>maven-antrun-plugin</artifactId>
                    <version>1.3</version>

TestRunner.swf is built at target/test-class and I also have TestRunner-app.xml in the same directory where I have
            <content>TestRunner</content>
The problem is that when I try to run a test, I keep getting the following error
    [exec] initial content not found
I really appreciate if someone could shred some light on this problem.
    Thanks,
    John

    Hi Brian,
    Thanks for your reply!
I've tried building with every version of Ant and FlexUnit I could find, including the latest beta... same problem every time. Though I haven't tried using a different Flex SDK - my project uses 3.2.0. Could that be causing problems? All the FlexUnit versions I can find are for 3.5 or later.
Below is the full console output from my build script (using the flexunit task rather than exec). As for the descriptor file, if you mean the one created by the FlexUnit task, I'm afraid I have nothing to post... since the error is that the task isn't able to create it in the first place. (Or if it is being created, it sure isn't anywhere I can find it - see below for screenshot of project contents.) I can post the descriptor I wrote myself if that will be of any use - just let me know.
Thank you so much for your help!
    Helen

  • Bonjour.msi path not found

    Bonjour.msi path not found
I am trying to update my itunes to version 10.5.1 but unable to as I keep getting the following error:
The feature that you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click ok to try again or enter an alternative path to a folder containing the installation package 'Bounjour.msi' in the box below.
This is all new to me and I do not understand what I can do to fix this.  I have tried to unistall itunes altogether from my computer but I cannot do this either as the same error message keeps coming up there too.
If anyone can help me I would be most grateful.
    Thanks

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • AE: Path not Found error

    Hi All
When we create one workflow with one role requested the approval process works, but it does not work when we have one request for 2 roles from 2 different systems. Take note that on their own these roles create a workflow and the approval process works but when they are put together the "Path not found error" appears.
Can anyone please advise on what the problem might be?
    Any input would be appreciated!

    Rodger,
please have a look at the error log to see exactly what fails.
I suppose that your initiator is limited to role + system, and you do not have defined a path for the second system, so AE does not know how to handle that part of the request.
If you can detail what your initiator looks like, and what the error log says, we may be able to give you more detailed help.
    Frank.

  • Error creating request. Path not found

    Hi,
We are trying to create a request in CUP. We have given input in all the mandatory fields like Requester Name, Manager Name, Application and we have selected Roles. Those roles were already assigned to approvers.
When we press the APPROVE button, it is asking to Approve. After clicking APPROVER button, it is giving error like u201CError creating request. Path not foundu201D.
Please check and advice me where we are missing while creating request in CUP.
    Thanks & Regards,
    KKRao.

    Hi Sabita/Alpesh,
Thanks for your reply. We have created two conditions under Initiator with AND and AND. We have cleared and we are not getting error like Path not found.
Now we are getting error like "Error creating request. Approver not found".
We have selected the Manger name in the request which we have defined in the Custom Approver Determinater. Still we are getting the error like Approver not found.
    Please check and correct me.
    Regards,
    KKRao.
