The "Thank you Arch devs thread!

With all the recent criticisms of Arch, the devs and the direction in which Arch is headed, (particularly with the move to systemd), I feel that the devs took too much heat for something that it's actually a good move for the future of Arch and it's community-driven development.
The move was explained well, and yet still some people were "expressing their opinions" quite the way they did and so I just want to say that I had ZERO knowledge of systemd until some couple of months ago, switched - and - nothing! Nothing crashes, nothing freezes, nothing it's wrong!
I even know how to edit/write my own service files now, it's so easy.
People often judge before they try and are then surprised by the result and a painless switch (I was expecting problems with systemd, yet I had none and to be honest my hardware isn't even the most "linux-friendly" one.
If you run arch as your distro of choice, I suppose one of the reasons you do so, is to experience the fast, innovative development approach as opposed to other distros, such as Slackware.
So, I want to thank to the devs for all the good work that they're doing (including the move to systemd) as history has proven that they know, what they're doing.
I hope I am not alone in this.
Just wanted to share my two cents / how I feel about it.

  • I am trying to download iTunes, but cannot save the file because the thank you page comes up right away.

I am trying to download itunes 11.1.3.
    I cannot save the file,ItunesSetup.exe.
I click on Save File and nothing happens, I use XP.  The thank you page comes up right away

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • How to stop the "Thank you for upgrading..." web page from showing on startup?

Every time I start Firefox the "Thank you for upgrading..."web page shows up. I have my settings set to open with a blank page, but this page always shows up ever since I upgraded.

I have attempted to install iTunes multiple times but to no avail. I have installed every file, and followed every instruction on the support pages. I click download, and it takes me directly to the "Thank You for Downloading" page without doing anything. I am running it on FireFox, and I have tried with Internet Explorer, neither have worked. I have been trying to do this for weeks now, and I am getting majorly frustrated. Please, help.

Perhaps try downloading and saving a copy of the installer to a different PC. (If you're on a 32-bit Windows system, try to download on a different 32-bit Windows system.) Copy the iTunesSetup.exe installer to an external hard-drive, or a large-enough thumb drive or burn it to a CD-R. Carry the installer back to your PC, copy the installer to your hard drive. (Don't run the install from the ExHD, thumb or CD-R.) Start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file.

im running XP with all firewalls and pop up blockers off. Ive tried using chrome, firefox, and IE. no download starts and im redirected to the thank you screen, please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ive read all related articles, aswers and solutions but cant seem to get tunes to download?

Ive tried from my PC, and ive tried from another which runs Vista. Both pc's were tried using firefox, IE and chrome, and both had firewalls off and pop-ups allowed completely (I basically turned off all security). I checked for 3rd party software which could also cause "blocks" but all 3rd party software were eliminated. I even tried stopping and restarting windows installer in "computer management; services, services". Still no luck..... This is the first time that ive struggled downloading Itunes. The reason im trying to download itunes is because im attempting to restore my iphone 4.....

  • I keep getting the dialogue box Thanks for upgrading Firefox. How do I stop the thank you?

It would seem that everytime I use Firefox it is thanking me for the upgrade to the latest version. It is annoying. How does one stop the thank you from Firefox?

there are a couple of possible causes, for details see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox+has+just+updated+tab+shows+each+time+you+start+Firefox

  • Stop the "thank you; your message has been sent"

I have a interview handler/voicemail account setup to gather information from customers. I wanted to add my own closing statement instead of the standard "thank you; your message has been sent"; I added a call handler to play my own greeting and then configured the interview handler to transfer to the call handler and then hang up, but before it gets to the call handler, it still plays the "thank you...". How can I stop that from playing?
    Randy

That prompt is actually associated with the message recording converation which is used by call handlers, subscriber and interviewers - you can't turn off the prompt for just one specific interview handler.
You can turn it off system wide by replacing the promot in question with a silent (empty) prompt, but this would then remove that prompt in all cases where a message recording was terminated.

  • Thank You Arch Wiki And Forums!

In under an hour, I had a working Arch system up and running, along side of my main Kubuntu and windows installations.  I consider my linux skills to be very novice, and I did this with no problems and I understood the entire processs.  I want to formally thank you all for the guides and information herer that have helped me do this flawlessly.  Now comes the fun part of configuring and building my system!  One more Kubuntu user on the way out!

Oh well, who cares. Welcome, everyone! (And welcome, Peasantoid )
When a new user posts to say thank you instead of "Arch is run by retarded monkeys", it's nice to have it's own thread.
    You're right, of course.

  • I clicked the "download now" but the page just changes to the thank you page and nothing at all downloads. My popup blocker is off.

I can't download iTunes for my iPod. Can you please help me?

    Thank you for answering!
After about 3 1/2 hours, of trying to publish, I did uncheck the Facebook box.  Only thing is, the Publish Site button will not light up again to let me republish.  If I go to Quit iweb, a message says, "Are you sure you want to Quit?  Quitting iweb while your site is being published might cause problems".
Does it normally take this long to publish.  There isn't any icon or indication that anything is happening.  I checked the Activity Monitor and it doesn't look like iweb has any activity, but I don't know for sure what it's supposed to look like.
If I quit iwev, will it erase my site?  I would like to republish the same site.  Any thoughts?
    Thank you!!

  • How to change the 'Thank you for your submission' message?

I have a webform to collect subscriber info for an email list - there is a standard 'Thank you for your submission' message that is posted when they submit. How does one edit that message?  Thanks!

Hey there, under System Layouts it is the general message layout. It applies to all forms though so be aware it needs to be still generic.
