The thumbnails on my iMac are an hourglass

I recently bought my first mac and was unhappy with iphoto so I purchased and installed Elements and Premiere 13. I have yet to use Premiere 13 but Elements 13 worked great and then a few weeks ago my new imports from cameras and phones had an hourglass for a thumbnail, the older pictures still have a thumbnail. I have looked through this forum and have been unable to locate thumbs.cache anywhere on the computer. I have sent Elements 13 to the trash and reinstalled it but my catalog is already there when I launch the program. I found an uninstall for Elements and uninstalled the program, the catalog was still there after launching the program. Do I need to remove Elements and Premiere and reinstall both? Is there a way to delete my catalog and start fresh?
Any ideas? I am still a Mac novice so any instructions may need to be dumbed down a bit...

Oops. You have a much bigger problem. You can't send PSE to the trash. You MUST use the uninstaller to remove it. You just made a whole big bunch of trouble for yourself. You will need to download and run this:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Then you can manually remove the bits you can reach. Not only from applications, but also from the library at the top level of your hard drive>application support>adobe. You can't use spotlight to search for these files--it's programmed to skip them. Then you can reinstall correctly.

The Thumbnail Images of Apps are All Messed up and Have been for days!

My Thumbnail images for the Apps are CONSTANTLY in the Wrong spot (Switched with another app or duplicated for the wrong app) or shows a Line Drawing of a CAMERA. Koi Fish is Half Koi Fish on Top and Camera Line Drawing on the Bottom. The ecurrency app, shows the Thumbnail for Glass Harp app. Every Page has at least two similar errors! This Iphone 3GS is My Second one. My First died in just twenty days with the "Red Sliver of Death" Battery Symbol ( Died Would Not Recharge). The Mac Store Replaced for free. ( Bless Them). This new Iphone is unbelievably Glitchy. Screen occasionally goes to a Very Dim brightness during use for no reason. recently Lost ALL Sound ( Mute Button NOT ON only worked with Headphones) until I downloaded the newest iphone software which seemed to fix it

Before Anyone asks about the "Other Glitches", They Include,
• A Sudden drop in brightness level that only restarting seems to fix. It will just drop to 15% of Normal Brightness for no reason. (about Once a day, about 15 times total)
• The Camera Shutter works Very Slowly sometimes for no reason at all. I push to click, then the shutter goes into a Slowmotion movement and seems to freeze with the fins in the "Snap Image, Closed fins over Screen Position". It can freeze for a second or two. Stops you from taking another "Fast Shot". (About every 5th Picture or 7 times a day)
• The Iphone seems to get quite HOT when Playing "Defend Your Castle". I'm playing at the high levels. Could an App make the Phone heat up?
• The Iphone periodically vibrates for no special reason. Mostly like short pulses. Not a big glitch, just odd ( 5 times a day)
•The Iphone mute button is too easily pushed BY YOUR EARLOBE) when you have the phone against your ear listening to a conversation.
• About three times since I've had this replacement (About 2.5 weeks). The phone has simply gone dead and shut off during a call. It turns right back on and works.
•The Orientation of the phone is off. If i start the Ibeer App or the Level app, it thinks straight up is around the 1 or 2 oclock position. Is there a way to calibrate the whole phone? Not just the Level App?
•About once a day the keyboard freezes with a Letter in the Up Postion. When you Push the keys and that "Flag" letter Pops up.

In the organizer, the thumbnails are black

The thumbnails for video clips are all black, only showing a clip symbol. JPEGs show fine.

I just started the Adobe Classroom in a Book for Premiere Elements 10 on a Windows 7 64bit platform and have the same issues with video thumbnails that are on the DVD that came with the book, which are also MP4s. I agree with maribob in that this really limits the Organizer's use, especially trying to use Adobe's own book for instruction. Amazing!

PE9 Organizer (mac) - thumbnails disappear when there are more than 5 columns

The thumbnails in my Organizer are slow to load, and if I move the slider bar to the left to show more thumbnails they are replaced with the hourglass, and the comment 'building thumbnails' appears bottom left. The thumbnails do not reappear unless I increase the size to five columns or less.
I have disabled media analysis in preferences; I have run a repair on the catalogue; I have selected all the photos and selected 'update thumbnail'. None of this has helped.
I am running PE9 on a Mac, and have about 20,000 photos in my catalogue.

Until the Thumbs are completely generated I have the same problem. After they are all generated all is okay. This only happens after I bring in very large folders of photos. Also, look at the space just to the right of the date in the bottom left corner of the screen. If the software is busy you will see a spinning wheel. Any time it is spinning the software will be very slow.

Neither the menu or lightbox widgets are working correctly

I'm using the menu widget and lightbox widget in my website and neither are working correctly:
The menus work but the dropdown feature does not work when I test it in either Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. This is not vital in my case but I would like to have it working
The lightbox part of the lightbox widget does not display at all but the thumbnails and text items are there but inactive
How do I solve this? It looks bad without the latter in particular. I've tested the lightbox I used on multiple pages. I don't want to re-insert it as I've already added the captions and images.

Bridge CS5...thumbnails. How can I make the thumbnails larger?

I can easily make my preview larger but cant seem to find anything to tell me how to make the thumbnails larger so they are easier

In the lower right corner there is a slider that will change the size of the thumbnails.

After importing photos from a digital camera the thumbnails are blank.

I purchased a new iMac a few months ago and had no problem with transferring (and viewing) my iPhoto library onto the new computer. No, the new iPods do not have a camera adaptor able to do this. Why Apple have decided not to make a suitable adaptor available (the old one won't work with the Classic), I have no idea.

Yes. Just make sure to deactivate the license on both systems using Apple menu --> Deactivate while one of the suite programs is running.

My computer just had to get a new hard drive and we reloading info onto the new hard drive...my iphoto pics are all, there save about 8, but there are NO thumbnails. I tried rebuilding the thumbnails...nothing. I tried creating a new library...nothing.

Sounds like Spaces is being activated somehow. With the wired keyboard and mouse in use, select the Exposé & Spaces control pane in System Preferences, click the choice in that pane for Spaces. See what the settings are. There are some activation settings in that pane - by default, F8 activates it.
It could be that the bluetooth keyboard has some stuck keys and is activating Spaces; or that the activation command has somehow been reset to something that the bluetooth mouse, or bluetooth itself, is triggering.

In PS and AI in CS2, when I open a picture folder, the thumbnail images are inverted

I recently D/L installed CS 2 on my Windows 7 desktop. Thanks Adobe, it's great for me.
However, when I open a folder in PS or AI to select an image, the thumbnails in the folder are inverted.
Strangely, this doesn't happen on my Windows 7 laptop.
Can anyone suggest a fix? It's annoying when I have many images to search thru.

I realize is only 512MB of memory but I want to make sure that a new iMac will solve this problem. Can the new iPhoto handle 10GB or more of photos? Or do I have to go to Picasa anyways in which case I can buy any computer to do that?

The model of Mac is not partcularly relevant, it's the version of the OS and iPhoto that matter.
iPhoto - since 2006 - is good for 250,000 images.

When I open an image in Photoshop, I cannot see the file. The thumbnail in on the right, but I cannot see the image on the work area. I am using Windows 8

When I open Photoshop CS6 I cannot view the image. The thumbnail is visible on the right hand side and the work area shows the file information, but no image. I have updated PS, my driver. It is the same for both jpg or RAW.

Be sure your graphics drivers are up to date. Try disabling GPU acceleration in the preferences then restart Photoshop.

Why are some of the thumbnails differnt sizes?

Suddenly noticed that the thumbnails in Pages are two different sizes -- there seems to be no consistency about why some are larger and some are smaller. any ideas? And does this impact anything in terms of printing, etc.?

My macbook displays photos (on DT or in a folder) as a thumbnail, but my iMac just shows them as a curled edged page thingamajiggy.

click anywhere on your desktop and then enter command+j. in the resulting popup check the box "show icon preview"
