The trouble with the apple store

Have to vent - customer relations is closed for the weekend.
I ordered a new customized macbook pro in April 2010 - high resolution matte display, 8 GB ram, 7200 rpm hard drive, core i7 processor. Sadly, a hard drive failure occured in August 2010. I brought the laptop to a local apple store and was told it would be 1-3 days to replace the hard drive. Fair enough. Only, a week later I was told the hard drive replacement hadn't fixed the problem. I was then given the option to have the laptop replaced but told it would be a couple of weeks since it was a customized system. Fair enough. Two weeks later I picked up the replacement. Sadly,I discovered that neither the high resolution displacy nor the 7200 rpm hard drive were on the replacement unit, so I returned it. I was told it would be another couple of weeks to replace the laptop, but that I could borrow the incorrect laptop while awaiting the arrival of the correct one. Fair enough. Only, two weeks later I was called and told the correct replacement laptop was on hold since they didn't have the serial number for the laptop I was borrowing (the incorrect laptop). OK, so I gave them the serial number and was told it would be another couple of weeks. It is now October. I've just called the apple store to check on the status of the order (status is 'unavailable' online and the geniuses never call). I'm told the laptop hasn't arrived and that they are unable to tell me when it will.
My question is: where does the buck stop? apple makes great products, but I think the apple store is like a hive - lots of activity - entirely unclear who's the boss. Everyone and no one is responsible. They are all friendly. They all make sure that they have your e-mail adress and your cell phone number. But they never actually use them. In the two months I've been trying to get my laptop replaced I've received one call - to let me know they didn't have the serial number on the incorrect replacement.
p.s. it takes a few days to order a new customized macbook pro and have it delivered - unless it's the apple store, in which case it takes a couple of months. or more?

Call them (800-275-2273) on Monday, then. It took Apple three attempts over three months to get me a working CTO MBP 17 last year, but things eventually worked out, and Customer Service was willing to extend themselves to smooth things over with me. My only other advice is to be as civil on the phone as you were in this post. ; )

    Yes. Take your iPhone as well so Apple can check warranty

    Go into compositionReady and have 3 variables you will be able to set them like this

    So on the wrong item click have

    So this will make it so when the wrong item is clicked each strike will be played in order.
    Random Scrolling -
    You should look into the Math.Random function to make things random in edge.
    This is an example of the Random function. It will generate a random number up to 100.

    Lose Screen Score -
    So we can create another variable in compositionReady for the lose score.
    score = 0;
    Now when the user gains a point to add to the score you could do this code on the click
    score++;
    which would add 1 to the score, However you can add however much you like to the score doing "score + 2" and so on.
    To edit a text with the score at the end which I'm assuming you will want to do you will use .html

    If you updated your existing account then try logging out of it on the iPhone by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on the iPhone. If you created a new account then any content that you purchased/downloaded via the old account will remain tied to that old account, and only that old account can download updates to its apps.

    Here are the steps I have taken and the results:
    Changed my Apple ID with new email address.
    Changed my iCloud with above new email address.
    NOW - Apple ID appears correct in AppStore Settings, iCloud and AppStore*
    If I scroll to bottom of screen in *App Store/Featured, I can see that the Apple ID is my new email.
    Upon “updating” Apple ID reflects OLD email.
    Deleted accounts, re-added accounts.
    Signed out and signed in with new UN/Email
    Issue remains the same.

    To migrate your data to a new iCloud account go to Settings>iCloud and turn off all synced data (contacts, calendars, etc.), when prompted choose to keep the data on your phone.  After everything is set to off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  Next, create the new iCloud account on your phone and turn on syncing for contacts, calendars, etc again.  If prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload your data to the new iCloud account.

    There are three models of MacBook that comprise the 'macbook 4.1' category, and each of them a little different; however other than 'macbook 4.1' the other thing they have in common is they all are considered Early 2008. Two are white, one black, polycarbonate case, Core2Duo 2.1GHz, 2.4GHz white, 2.4GHz black.
    So if you can determine which one, if any of these, is the model build year and spec you have, that would be handy. Did you tell whoever you spoke to the serial number of your computer, so they'd know by looking up the specs to see what the supported maximum RAM upgrade capacity was, and other minimum requirements to make any upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6.8 at all?
    If you have the serial number you can do a lookup to 'indentify by serial number' online, and use that information to determine if the computer needs even more RAM to take it past the minimum for Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and then get it ready to upgrade (via paid download from App Store, Snow Leopard gets you that far) and see what the next supported OS X full upgrade would be for the hardware limitations on that old MacBook.
    If your MacBook IS a 4.1 build, the highest OS X it could run if it has the 2.4GHz cpu, is Lion 10.7.5. That would be an upgrade from the App store, available to OS X 10.6.8+ computers that access it online. And I kind of doubt how supported a newest iphone etc may be in lion.

    The Apple? store or whoever you talked, to may have been as accurate as they could be without further research. Could be you may have a newer or older MacBook, which would change whatever later OS X it could run past 10.6.8. And to go past Snow Leopard, you need to download the last bits for 10.6.x to be able to go and get any later upgrade. The ones that may let a newest iphone or ipad work with it, are past SL10.6.8
    Anyway, as you further verify the model build year and configuration specifications, report back.

    I could do that, however when I select the icloud button (or whatever the heck it is) I am asked to enter the apple id and password. So if you are suppose to create another one for icloud you'd think it would give you the option at this point which would be logical.

    ^^ that's the main problem. Here's the full history.
    I bought a new 13" i5 MBP, early 2011 edition. I had an old white Macbook 2.14 ghz core2duo on Snow Leopard. I attempted to port over my time machine backup, but encountered problems in that my User was inaccessible from the new computer after the import finished, and I had to go in and change the root password, etc, and for some reason or another, I couldn't install any programs at all from that administrator's account. By "couldn't" I mean I could install them, but upon installation they would never boot. So, I took it to the apple store and did a clean install from the most up to date Lion OSX. Then, I created a brand new admin account, instead of trying to import the old one, and things seemed great. Then, I just imported my old files from the TM backup, but not any system settings, permissions, or user data. Just my Docs, pics, vids, apps, and itunes stuff.
    Here's where things get weird again. I imported this stuff under the name "old", but all of these folders have a red negative sign on them, marking them as restricted. So, from my main admin account, I cannot even peruse these folders. Since I didn't import user data, I can't sign in to the "old" account to change permissions. I already tried to change the permissions from system preferences, but that didn't change anything. And now, for whatever reason, of all the apps that were imported then, MS Office is the only set of apps that does not work. When I click on it, it just says there was a problem and asks if I'd like to send a report to apple. I tried reinstalling it to no avail. I'm an English student, so i really need access to Word. Can anyone help? The Apple store is a major detour for me and would like to fix this issue myself.

    Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
    Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
    Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
    NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
    LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.)

    For sound, try the audio output port and connecting to the RCA  audio input ports on your Pioneer receiver.  Use something like this:

    In earlier years you can go th an Apple Store, buy a Macbook Pro and ask for a replacement to a other type of keyboard. I do this 2-3 times in the last years for german keyboards. If you done this on the same day you bought the macbook, the replacement happened without charge anything. It was a great service.
    Yesterday i go back to the same store like before and both - the sales representative and the guys an the GeniusBar told me - that this is not offered by Apple anymore. Because the US Apple Online Store do not offer other Keyboards the US-based keyboards and the German Apple Online Store do not deliver to other countries the final conglusion from the Apple Stuff was:
    Flight to germany, but it over their.
    I see here in the Support community a lot of questions about norwegian, german and other kind of keyboards they want to buy in the US. Their is obviously a need for this. And from the logistic standpoint, it should be easy for Apple to offer that in the Online Stores itself.
    For me the conglusaion is: I stay with my old Macbook Pro and hope i need no replacement within the next years. To order it in germany, ship it to a friend, pay taxes twice (in germany and vur customers) plus shipment, make it to expensive (bottonline: 600-800$ more than buy it in the US) make no sense to me.

    I know that you can use two credit cards to pay an item but the problem is that i can only put the billing address of just one of the credit cards, and since the two cards are from different people (my parents) i can't do it.     With a new account, you'll need to rebuy the games.
    Each user should have their own icloud account, otherwise they end up getting the same emails, contacts, calendars, notes, reminders, etc. - usually not what you want.  But if all have been sharing the same itunes ID, keep it that way, you can have different IDs for itunes and icloud.
    If you already have another icloud account, and want to set it up on a device, then go to Settings>icloud, scroll to bottom of screen and tap Delete Account.  This only disconnects the device from that account, no data is lost on icloud.  Then enter the account ID that you want to use.

    How difficult can it be to simply purchase the software on-line have it shipped to you so you can install it, in the event it cannot be downloaded as it appears it can't be based on my curent operating systems being Mac OSX 10.5.8.

    Whilst Apple have withdrawn Snow Leopard from download, you can still get it from Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (if you are in the USA) and they will supply the SL DVD for $30.  You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion from the same number.

    I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
    The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account.  I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there.  On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back.  Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email.  The device is currently useless.
    The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
    Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?
