The type inside a interactive disappears in the interactive PDF I create

I am trying trying to create an interactive pdf with Adobe InDesign CC. I want to have labeled buttons, that you can click on and it will take you to another page. One the resulting interactive pdf, the button functionality works correctly, but the label/type is not showing up at all.

Are the labels part of the buttons (as it should be) or did you put extra text frames for the labels above them (what you should never do)?

Are you running modified software on your phone?  This error seems to be common if the firmware has been modified and you're trying to restore the phone again.

  • How do I complete an electronic signature field in an Interactive PDF form (created in Indesign)?

How do I complete an electronic signature field in an Interactive PDF form (created in Indesign)? This form will serve as an employment application on a website. The goal is to have any person (interested in applying for a job via the Internet) access, complete and electronically sign the form upon submission.

    Hi,
Via createPDF you would not be able to electronic sign the PDF form, you would either require Adobe Reader or purchase Adobe Acrobat to sign the PDF.

  • Putting a mp4 inside a interactive pdf

    Any help would be wonderful.
My movie will not go into my interactive pdf document.  All comes up but not the movie, help!

Did you place an MP4 with H264 encoding (the best choice)? You chose File > Place, right? Did you preview it in the Media panel? Did you preview it in the SWF Preview or EPUB Interactivity Preview? Did you choose File > Export > PDF (Interactivity)?
Finally, what PDF reader are you viewing the PDF in. Make sure you using Adobe Reader or Acrobat.

  • How do I create a downloadable link from an Interactive PDF file created out of InDesign CS6?

    Hello,
I created an Interactive PDF file out of InDesign and would like to make the large file a downloadable link and share it with the user in an email. I do not want to use DropBox or GoogleDrive.
The company I contract for has their own site - do I insert the file into the site or can I create a separate link for it?
I will be recreating these presentation PDF's constantly, so I would like to know if there is a simple way to create this link for files in the size of 7-12MB.
Any ideas on downloadable links? I do have flash - but rarely use, perhaps load the file out of flash?
Thank you so much for your help,
    Megan

    Hi Willie,
Thanks for your help. Most likely contact the company who maintains the
site then to share the file with them I'm assuming?

  • Are the fillable pdf forms created in InDesign compatible with iPads?

I have been producing complex fillable forms using LiveCycle which work fine in most circumstances but we're running into more and more complaints from iPad users who can't open, complete, save the forms. From my research I see that there is an incompatibility with the XFA form created by LiveCycle and the iPad software.
I design my forms in InDesign anyway and just discovered that I can author the fillable fields using InDesign as well. It would be a giant time saver if I can use one program to create my forms but the question remains, will fillables authored in InDesign be compatible with the iPad? And secondly, Does anyone know if InDesign has equal flexibility in creating all the special objects and their behavior that LiveCycle has?

I believe that if you name the form field the same name on multiple pages they should fill with the same values.
However, I'm not a form expert. You would do well to ask these questions in the Acrobat Forms forum here:
    Forms
While InDesign is being used to create the form, it doesn't really control the process. This is done in Acrobat so that's where you should ask your technical questions.

  • End users are not able to save interactive pdf form created with designer

I am new to using LiveCycle Designer and have created a pdf form but my end users are not able to save edited form. Does this have something to do with whether the form is static or dynamic. If so, I am not exactly sure how to use the restorestate option to convert it back to static. I also tried to enable the "user rights access in adobe reader" under the advance menu and had no luck.
My end users have acrobat reader 9 - do I need them to download anything else, maybe professional.

    Thanks Paul for your reponse
In my Adobe Pro I don't see the option Reader Extend rather I enabled "Enabled Usage Rights in Adobe Reader" amd I figured this was somewhat the same. So if I enabled this option in Adobe Pro already and they are still not able to edit the fillable text slots or save it what other option do I have in figuring this out.

  • Interactive PDF button problem

I created an interactive pdf in InDesign CS5.5. I added buttons on pages to navigate throughout the pages of the pdf. The pdf worked beautifully until a someone tried to open the pdf in Acrobat 6.0; all of the type (fonts) on the buttons became jumbled, like the font was missing, however the fonts are embedded in the pdf.
I need this pdf to work correctly in all versions of Acrobat and Acrobat Reader, as many clients will view the pdf and I have no control over what version they have of the application.
I thought that I could solve this problem by simply creating outlines on the fonts. This did not fix the problem, it actually made it worse. When I made the new interactive pdf, after creating outlines on the buttons, the text on the buttons is no longer visible, it disappeared.
Does anyone know any workarounds or fixes for this issue?

You're saying that in recent versions of Acrobat, the buttons look and work correctly, right?
And it's only when you try to open it in a version of Acrobat created in 2003, nine years ago, that you have a problem?
I think you're setting unreasonable expectations. There's actually a more serious problem than that, and much more likely to happen: Many Mac users use Apple Preview to view PDFs. Interactivity largely fails when viewed in Preview.
The answer, in my opinion, is to tell your readers that they should download the FREE Adobe Reader, or use a recent version (say Reader 8 and above), and if you're they are using a different reader that they may get unexpected results for viewing interactivity. And provide a link to download the FREE Adobe Reader.

  • TOC links fail when using book function for interactive pdf output

I have  a large print publication consisting of multiple files using the Indesign book function. I have created a Table of Contents in the first document (there are multiple files in this book), but when I save to interactive pdf to create a digital version the TOC links are lost. They only work within the first document.
I have read numerous forums but cannot resolve this issue with the combination of:
    1. TOC creation
    2. Using Indesign Book Function
    3. Multiple documents in the one book
    4. Interactive Pdf output required
    I look forward to answers???

I am on CC version 9.0 but am updating CC as I type this in the hope this may have some answers?
If you are on CC, you should update your InDesign version to 9.2.1 as it is the latest version. Then you should open the TOC definitions, check it, activate the new add anchor on destiny function and save. Now you should actualize all TOCs.
The TOC functionality has been improved and changed between 9.0 and 9.2. If you update your files accordingly you will suffer less pain.

  • Interactive PDF rollover states flashing in Acrobat XI

    Hello,
I am having a problem with an interactive PDF I created in Adobe InDesign and am viewing in Acrobat XI. Any buttons that I have created with rollover states are flashing (disappearing and reappearing) whenever I actually mouse over them. A previous PDF I created with rollovers doesn't experience this problem at all and works fine. The functionality of the buttons still works but the flashing is very frustrating and looks unprofessional and this is for a client deliverable... Would love to know if there is any fix for this. The buttons and rollovers were created in InDesign (they are not links) so I have no idea why it keeps doing that.
I am running Adobe InDesign CC 2014.1 (10.1.0.71) and Adobe Acrobat XI version 11.0.10.
    Thanks!

Hhmmm...I'm actually having this problem even with Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional. Does this make sense?
Again, I'm creating the document in InDesign CS5 and then building the PDF with  Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional, and the rollover effects don't work in Adobe Acrobat 9, Adobe Reader 9, and Adobe Reader 10.
I'm a bit new to this process of software not providing its basic touted functionality. Is this the kind of thing where support for this functionality will vary from product to product? I had the same issue with PDF Portfolio -- where all its functioanlity was not supported in Adobe Reader X. If so, perhaps I should simply stick with the classic features of PDFs. Or can I trust, reliability, that going forward, this rollover effect will be supported in all Adobe Reader versions? This is quite an important issue for me as I provide all the documentation for my employer, including customer facing documentation -- and I simply don't know. Any recommendations?

  • Special characters not available in interactive pdf

Hello, when typing in one of the textfields in my interactive pdf I noticed I can't use special characters like é, à, ê, ...Instead I get Ø
I can't choose the font so am I stuck with this characterset?
We need the forms in combination with the forms on our new website. When filled in on the website this interactive pdf gets created automatically so we can work with the data so it's quite important people can fill in their data correctly.
    grtz

What version of InDesign are you using?
Might help an upgrade as a similar error was in CS6 in German where we got different letters than ÄÖÜäöüß.

  • Button hierarchy on layers in interactive PDFs

    Hi,
we recognized a flaw in the display of interactive buttons within interactive PDFs:
We created a document with several buttons, that are mentioned to display other hidden buttons, when clicked. The problem is that even when the layer of the button, that are invisible when loading the page and are visible when clicking on the other button, is above the layer of the button to click on, the other button is displayed in front of the button that should appear in front of it. Most buttons appear on top of all layers when clicked once. Is there a way to avoid this?
Thanks a lot for any suggestions.
    Regards,
    Philipp

The way the PDF specification was written, interactive elements always appear above all other content. It has nothing to do with what you're doing in InDesign. You'll just have to work around that fact in your design.

  • How do I stop pages from scrolling when i'm creating an interactive PDF?

I'm attempting to create an interactive PDF portfolio with links from the homepage to gallery pages and projects etc, but it seems useless if I can't stop the PDF pages from scrolling? Can anyone help?
I have InDesign CS5.5 and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
    Thanks,
    Elizabeth

I had the same problem with an interactive PDF I created out of InDesign CS5.5. Not sure if what I found will work for a PDF portfolio but here is what I did.
After creating my document and exporting it as an interactive PDF I opened it in Acrobat X. I went to file/properties and opened the dialogue box. I then clicked on the "initial view" tab and checked the "hide toolbars" and "hide window controls" clicked okay, closed the dialogue box and re-saved the PDF.
The next time I launched it you could not mouse click to navigate the pages anymore, you had to use the interface I had created. The only caveat is that the keyboard arrows and the mouse scroll wheel still work but if you click anywhere on the page other than my buttons the pages now stay put.
    Hope this works for you,
    Phil

I have a Wordpress site. I wanted to add a new page to it. However, when I try, I am able to type inside of the "Title" box & I am able to type inside of the "Post Excerpt (Meta Description)" box. However, I cannot type inside of the main body box where the actual content of my page would appear.
This seems to be a browser issue because I can do it if I use Internet Explorer. Why does Firefox prevent me from editing or adding a new page to my Wordpress site?
    Thanks.

  • Declare object type inside the package

    Hi,
How can I declare an object type inside the package?
CREATE TYPE TempObj AS OBJECT (
    user_id number,
    text varchar2(4000),
    date_created DATE
This will not work if placed inside this:
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE SAMPLE_PKG IS
    ---declaration goes here.
    END SAMPLE_PKG;
I tried using the type RECORD and it worked. But I am just curious how to declare an Object. Or maybe RECORD is the replacement of Object? is this correct?
    thanks,
    Baldwin

The inside of a PL/SQL package should contain PL/SQL statements.
CREATE TYPE is not a PL/SQL statement. You can't create a table in package either.
If data protection is the reason that you would rather create the type inside the package, then consider using a record type as you suggested, or hiding the SQL type in a more protected schema.
