The ultimate media manager?

I'm looking for something that can quickly and easily manage media such as images, video, audio files.  I have iLife 11 with iPhoto and find it doesn't organize as well as I thought it would.  Finder is too limited and very slow.  I have Adobe Bridge but again that's just not a great interface and takes too long to find related images, videos, audio.
I looking for a product that will:
1.  Catalog all my media files on local, remote, and attached drives/resources.
2.  Quickly identify files that have been moved and/or renamed and/or deleted.
3.  Be able to report on duplicate files (same size, ext, date, time).
4.  Make it easy to add keyword and location data (meta data) to be associated with the file(s).
5.  A fast and powerful search feature with easy to select dynamic filters (i.e. search on "Car" and get 10 results with CarBlueMustang, CarGreen, CarBlueSTi. it would then provide dynamic filters on "blue" from which I could select to further filter out my options).
6.  Customizable -- enable features to rename files to first 1,2, or 3 keywords provided, i.e. IMG_00012.JPG enter keyword Rob Monterey Plaza and the filename will be renamed to RobMontereyPlaza.JPG (or something similar).
7.  Ability to turn ON/OFF file cataloging and/or exclude hard drives, resources both external/internal.
8.  Manages history and versions, rather than 10 entries of the same base file show just one entry with a base and it's associated versions/copies with information specific to the version.
9.  Ability to organize all my files using a node based template that I can define and manage ... it will automatically setup the folders and move the files around to match the template and puts "undefined" files off to a separate node (to be define at a later date).
Do all this in a fast and easy to use interface.
Anything like this exist?  It doesn't look like Lion will meet my needs, iPhoto is ok but it likes to generate duplicates (i.e. Edit file in External Editor) and the interface just doesn't organize well and is very worky to get event data associated with media.  Adobe Bridge is another partial effort, does some things nice, but just isn't a complete robust package.

  • Where is the Media Manager in Desktop 6.0.0.40 ??????

Last night the BlackBerry Desktop Manager wanted to do an update.  I've done these updates in the past so I thought it would be safe.
This new version - 6.0.0.40 (Released August 3, 2010 Bundle 42) does not have the Roxio Media manager.  I have to be able to copy files between the BlackBerry file system and my PC.  Not just from the music, pictures and video directories.  I have files in other locations of the file system for my application.
      Paul

I too had the same problem not being able to access any of my files in device memory after upgrading to DM6. Mass storage device is turned on.  I posted this issue on Aug 12 with no reply from RIM/BB with a fix.  I therefore was forced to reinstall DM5 with Roxio Media Manager and can once again access all my files on my device and move them around.  Now I have two DM'S running on my desktop.  As I stated in my post, I'm not impressed with DM6 at all!  Why release something that doesn't work? In my opinion it's a downgrade!

  • What is the problem with Roxio Media Manager??

I purchased my first Blackberry 8310 Curve on Black Friday. For some reason the Blackberry Desktop Manager installs and works absolutely fine. However when I open the media manager from Roxio the screen freezes and it doesn't even show my device. I have uninstalled cleanly and re-installed over a dozen times and can't get it to work. We also went and bought an updated graphics and sound card and have installed them. The Roxio media manager STILL freezes up and we have to shut it down.
I do a lot of Paintshop Pro and have those programs as well as other graphics software. I'm wondering if it is a software conflict? I don't see one. Or if the Roxio is a POS as someone posted before.
I have spent hours and hours reading everything I can online about it and can not find an answer anywhere. The main reason that I want the Media Manager is that I want to make my own ringtones....that's it! The rest I can do without it. Does the BB media manager have the capability to make ringtones?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • Problem with Vcast media manager

So, I got a new phone.  Bought the USB cable so that I could transfer data using the Vcast media manager program.  Plugged in, put it sync mode, and drag/dropped the files over.  The program detected the phone and shows the files are transferred over.  The card works; take a pic with the phone and plug it in, and Vcast sees it..  But the phone refuses to find the music.  Doesn't matter what I do, it insists there is no music on the card.  Anyone else ever have this problem?

The issues you are experiencing with your handset not finding the music on your memory card may need to be duplicated with a live representative. Please contact us at your earliest convenience from a different phone so we can troubleshoot. Please have your cell phone and memory card available.

  • IPad and Media Manager Issues

I just installed the Verizon Media Manager App on my iPad and it will not pull anything from my pc.  It keeps telling me to register.  It lets me sign in with my id, lets me bookmark things, but I cannot pull media from my PC.  It is very frustrating.  Want to be able to view flex view stuff for the kids while on the road and cannot.  Also cannot find the fios on demand app in the App store.  Please help.  The other app that is not working at all is the MY VZ account app.  I cannot check bills, pay bills, check email or anything you should be able to do with it.  If the app's are buggy, pull them.  Please advise with any solutions.

Here's the master page for all of Verizon's apps. Right now only the Media Manager app is available for iPad.
In order to view your personal media, it must first be uploaded to your FlexView Library. This can be done using the Media Manager application on your PC or Mac.
The Media Manager iPad app also allows you to stream Flex View movies and TV shows you have purchased from Verizon, whether you bought it on your set-top-box, PC or phone. In other words, it also serves as the FiOS On Demand app.

  • Music drop outs / stutter when listening to MP3s or Internet Radio with Verizon Media Manager

Does anybody know when I play MP3s or listen to Internet Radio I'm getting slight drop out or stutter?
I just downloaded and installed the Verizon Media Manager on a machine running Windows 7.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Found this answer on DSLReports...
"This problem has reported before. It's a problem with the audio driver for 7XXX boxes that was introduced with IMG 1.9a. It also impacts iHeart radio and Pandora streaming. It is supposed to be fixed in 1.9.1, which is due sometime in the next decade."

  • Change screen resolution message when trying to start media manager

I use a UMPC (Samsung Q1UP) that only has a screen resoluion opion of 1024 x 600 as it is a 7" landscape mobile computer. When I start up the blackberry software, and then try to launch Media Manager etc., it gives me an error message to change the screen resolution to at least 1024 x 768 or higher.
As I cannot change the screen resolution to accomodate the software request, has anyone come up with a fix for this issue?
    Thanks in advance!

This is the part of technology I hate with a passion. When new products come out, companies have no idea what to do when compatibility issues arise and they leave millions of people in the dark.
Blackberry charges for support if you call them direct (imbecilic policy in my opinion).  You have to go through AT&T to get support from Blackberry for free.  (I believe the Curve phone has an inactivated price of $699, you would think Blackberry would want to talk directly to their customers for free, but no!)
I spent 20 minutes on the phone with AT&T to explain the issue I was having.  After convincing them I know what I am doing, they put me through to Blackberry support tech, where I had to repeat the issue over again.
After spending another 40 minutes with a junior, then senior Blackberry tech, their solution was for me to plug in an external monitor and set it to 1024X768 so the Roxio Media Manager comes up.
This is imbecilic as well, as the whole purpose for this netbook is so that I don't have to have to lug around a monitor with me, otherwise with the netbook and the monitor I am way over 7 lbs.
There was another person in this forum who recommended installing an older Desktop manager software without the media manager product on my PC to allow me to access the files directly.  Although this works for a media card, it DOESN'T work for the internal memory in the phone.   The internal memory in the phone appears to be locked up tight and only accessible to the media manager, or Bluetooth.  I did manage to get the files off via Bluetooth ONE FILE AT A TIME!  took me nearly 2 hours.
    My suggestions to Blackberry:
    1) Scrap Roxio Media Manager.  Most people who use this phone know what they are doing and understand how to drag and drop files from a disk drive to a computer.  Roxio Media Manager should not be necessary to get files off of a phone.
    2) Open up the internal memory inside the phone so it comes up as a disk drive on the computer.
    3) or - Do something else to make this work with Netbooks!

So what happens if you try to access the F: drive using My Computer or Windows Explorer? Does it allow you to access it?

  • Media Manager crashing on windows 7

    Hello,
I have the current version of MM. Every time I try to add media files to my MM it ends up crashing. Is there a solution for this problem?

It doesn't even work for me on any of my three Win 7 HP machines. All the computers are left on and along with the VZ Media Manager. After a few hours MM is no longer running. MM stops running at different time intervals on each machine. I can't load videos either. When I try to load any of the so called supported videos I get a message telling me that the file type is not supported. I can't load photos either because it doesn't support .TIFFs and that's the file type I save photos in. What does work for a little while is Youtube on TV. After a short time that freezes too and only comes back after MM is restarted.

  • VCast media manager doesn't run under W7 64-bit

How do I download music to my new Droid 2. When I tried to install Vcast Media Manager, it aborted because it does not support 64-bit OS.
I'm not interested in having a 32-bit OS just to support one application.
    Thanks
    <Chas>

I have a 64-bit OS on my Laptop, as well, and experienced the same message.
I noticed that when I first plugged my phone into my PC the Windows Explorer came up and allowed me to browse my entire Droid 2 files. But, after allowing Motorola to continue to install the "needed" drivers/software, I was no longer able to browse my phone with Windows Explorer. So, I uninstalled the two Motorola files that install whenever I plug my phone into my PC, and viola! the Windows Explorer works again.
Therefore, the solution for moving files back and forth from your PC to your phone is to not use the VCast Media Manager and just use the Windows Explorer that defaults when you first plug your phone into your computer USB port.  When prompted to allow Motorola to modify your computer, say "no".  By doing this, your phone won't go to the Verizon Website and block your ability to use the Windows Explorer from there on out.
You'll need to say "no" everytime you plug your phone into your PC, but at least you'll have the file management needed.

  • Vcast Media Manager program is faulty

Downloaded Vcast. Installs correctly. When attempt to launch I receive a "verizon.exe has stopped working and will be closed" message. Problem is apparently with the Data Execution Protection (DEP) settings. Even when try to exempt the program from DEP, get a message that the program cannot run without DEP. This is a problem with the software, not with the operating systems.
    Vista Home Premium 32-bit
    Droid X

If you have a Droid phone, you are not required to transfer media over to the phone using Vcast Media Manager.  You can simply plug in your phone, put the phone into USB Mass Storage mode in the notification panel after you plug it in, and it will work just like any USB thumb drive or other mass storage device.  This is how I personally transfer over Videos, Pictures, and Music to my Droid 2, Droid X, Thunderbolt, and Fascinate.  This works pretty much flawlessly as long as the content is not protected.
For those of you having issues installing the Vcast Media Manager software on the computer, if it was a software issue, everyone would have it.  There are so many variables when it comes to PCs that it becomes impossible for a cellular phone company to help with software installation on a PC.  We are not certified computer techs here at Verizon, which is why we keep computer troubleshooting light.  There are some basic requirements for the Vcast Media Manager to work though, please ensure your PC meets all of these requirements before diving too deep into troubleshooting Vcast Media Manager installation issues.
    Media Manager Requirements
I hope this answers some of your concerns with the Media Manager software.
