The update "GarageBand Update" can't be installed

"The update “GarageBand Update” can’t be installed
A networking error has occurred: Cannot open file (-3001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again."
Once while installing an update I lost net connectivity. Since then whenever I download this particular update i get an error msg. All other updates work just fine.
How do I rectify this?

try downloading the update by hand from the apple website instead of using Software Update.

  • The update "Mac OS X update combined (powerpc)" can't be installed?

I recently upgraded from OS X 10.3.9 to Tiger (10.4.6) and encountered a weird problem. My system is a Dual 1GHz G4 (mirror drive door) with 768 MB RAM.
When I try to launch iTunes, I get an error telling me that "iTunes requires Mac OS X 10.4.7 or later..."
That never happened before, so I assume that the Tiger installation (or a Software Update I was unaware of) sabotaged iTunes by imposing this new requirement.
Now here's the irony: I can't install OS X 10.4.7! When I run Software Update, it tries to install Mac OS X Update Combined (PowerPC) 10.4.10-- but it fails every time with the message:
The update "Mac OS X update combined (powerpc)" can't be installed.
The digital signature for this package is incorrect. The package may have been tampered with or corrupted since being signed by "Apple."
So this seems to be a transmission error, or something wrong with Apple's server. I've tried this repeatedly over the last few days, but nothing changes.
Any suggestions? I tried downloading the installer from Apple's download page, but it results in the same error. Is there perhaps a clean version of 10.4.8 I can download from somewhere?
It's really frustrating not being able to run iTunes because of an OS "upgrade."

Then, stop using Software Update, click the Downloads link at the page's top, and manually download the COMBO update. As for iTunes, apparently you installed a later version. With 10.4.6, your quite a few updates behind: OS, security, iTunes, and QuickTime, just to name a few. Before you update, be sure you make a bootable backup/clone. • "The Update Mac OS X Update (Power PC) can't be installed" ?

I have had the following problems for a few days now when trying to download and install Mac OS X Update 10.4.10 using the Software Update:
"The update Mac OS X Update (Power PC) can't be installed. The digital signature for this package is incorrect. The package may have been tampered with or corrupted since being signed by Apple. "
    What does this mean?
I am having the same problem when downloading and installing QuickTime using Software Update.

Sound advice, but it isn't uncommon. See http://www.apple.com/support/tiger/install/ for installation details.
    Additionally, see:

  • I have installed Illustrator thru Cloud and then un-install the Illustrator. How can I re-install it

I have installed Illustrator thru Cloud and then un-install the Illustrator. How can I re-install I?

Quit the Creative Cloud application and relaunch it again. When the CC app gets launched it scans through the installed applications and updates it's "Apps" tab accordingly. After this you can install Illustrator from the APPS tab.

  • Do I need to re-install the WHOLE suite or can I just install just Encore and Premier Pro?????

I'm having a problem with my Encore and Premier Pro software. I have the Adobe Creative Suite Production Studio Premium CS5.1. Encore will not allow me to burn DVDS. I'm getting an 52102 error...won't allow it to finish writing...ALSO Premier Pro stops after capturing about 5 or 10 minutes of video and freezes...do I need to re-install my software??? and if I do... do I need to install the WHOLE suite or can I just install just Encore and Premier Pro????? I can burn and image file and it burns DVDs on my old Corel software so I know its not the burner or the DVDs I'm using..I am in the middle of a big project for kids at school really need to figure this out...not getting anywhere online. Can anyone help??? Has anyone had this problem?  Hope I'm posting this to right place. THANKS!

I haven't had 52102 error, but seen it discussed. Here are a couple of links
    Error = Sense Code 52102
Encore Hardware Error Sense Code 52102
Burning the iso file to the dvd may not be the same process as burning directly from Encore to dvd, and so may not exhibit the same error, if any. See response 1 in the first link.

  • I have a older Airport Express unit that requires Airport Utility 5.6. When I try to install 5.8 on my OS X10.8 iMac, I get the message "Airport Utility can't be installed on this disk. The version of Mac OS X on this volume in not Supported"

Why should I have to spend money to solve this problem? Many others have the same concern, Airport Utility 6 does not support  older Airport Express units. This is Apple's problem. I've tried many solutions proposed on the net but none worked. I'm still trying for a work around.

There is a problem with IE10+ in that it is mistakenly seen as being IE1.  To get around this either use a different browser or use compatibility view (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-10)

  • The mail server Update:  Says it can't be installed on my OSX 10.3.9 harddr

Why wouldn't I be able to install the mail server update for OSX 10.3.9 on my harddrive which is also an OSX 10.3.9? It tells me the volume does not meet the requirements for this update! I just completed the OSX 10.3.9 update installations with no problem. The mail update installation program says: The Mail Server Update delivers overall improved reliability and is recommended for all systems running mail services on Mac OS X Server version 10.3.9.

You are running the client version of Mac OS X, and that update will only install on Mac OS X Server systems; the changes it makes are only relevant to Mac OS X Server, so you won't get any benefit out of installing it anyway.

  • Pro Applications Update 2007-02 Can't be installed

Hi, not sure if this is a Leopard thing or a Logic 8 thing, but I cannot install the latest software update "Pro Applications Update 2007-02 v1.0 930kb" - it downloads and then says "Sorry an unexpected error occurred" - not very helpful
    Any suggestions?
    TIA

    UPDATE
Ok, Found what the issue is. Its down to a Quicktime Codec that you can find in /Library/QuickTime (Not the user directory, but the one off root)
What you need is a file called AppleHDVCodec.component
The latest is version 1.3.2 dated 5th November
Update 2 installs this, but Update 1 wont install over the top as its a newer file.
Download both Update 1 and 2 from Apple, then open the contents of both (Don't run them, click Show package contents in context menu)
You need to unzip the gz files and you can copy out the above file. Do this for both files but keep them separate, you will need both.
Put update 1 file in place first (Overwrite or backup your file in the location given at the top of this post ) then run SW update. It will recognise the version and ask to install Update 2 - Dont !
Then grab the file from the update 2 gzip and copy this file over the one from update 1
Then run SW Update again and it will say all is Ok and you dont need any updates
Its a real mess, but works.

  • My kids somehow deleted iphoto from the computer and I can't re-install it

    Can anyone help?
My kids deleted the iphoto application from our computer. All of the photo files are still there but I can't re-install the application. I have downloaded various version and they all don't let me install because they say there is no previous version found on the HD. I even tried to install it from ilife 06 and it installed every app but iphoto. I am running OS 10.6.2. How can I get this app back?

You cannot download iPhoto. Updates will not run unless there's an iPhoto app to update.
The only way to install iPhoto is from a disk.
If you had iPhoto 09 don't install v6 because it will not be able to open your Library.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only...’
    Regards

  • In eBay & YouTube, I get the message to install the latest version of Adobe Flash Player; I have gone through the download and installation procedure several times, but still get the same message - why can't I install the latest version on Firefox?

In eBay, I was trying to upload pictures when I got this message: "You need the latest version of Adobe Flash Player to use the standard picture uploader.
Download and install the latest version from Adobe before continuing."
In YouTube, when trying to watch a video, I got this message: "You need to upgrade your Adobe Flash Player to watch this video."
I have gone through the procedure for downloading and installing the latest version of Adobe Flash Player, but still get the same messages when I reopen Firefox and revisit these sites.
There does not seem to be the same problem with Safari, which runs the latest version of Adobe Flash Player with no trouble.
I am using an iMac running Mac OS X Version 10.6.7.

You can find the latest Flash player for Firefox on this page.
For Firefox on 64 bit Windows, you need the 32 bit Flash version version because Firefox is a 32 bit application.

  • Airport Update 2006-1 Can't Be Installed on this System?

Ran software update and installed the Secruity Update, then noticed on Versiontracker an update for Airport. I downloaded the file and ran the installer which then told me it could not be installed on my computer?
I reviewed the Update documentation on Apple's Website and as far as I can tell it should be installed. I have an iMac G5 with 10.4.7 installed and the correct build number the update would be applied to. I have an Airport Extreme and Express on my network.
When the update did not install I check the Airport Admin Utility to see if it was waiting to install an update from the secruity update.. and there wasn't anything pending.
Is it me or the update? Do I need it or ?

I personally find that going to your Apple and clicking on Software Update will install any and all critical Updates for your machine.
Often Version Tracker and some other sites offer updates that may be redundant, and not neccessary. Always when using an update from any site including Apple's use the COMBO update.
    Cheers Don

  • Can anyone tell me how to get the Firefly addon for Firefox 3.6.8 despite the fact that my installation attempt results in the message that it can't be installed because it's incompatible with 3.6.8?

Need it on both Mac and PC. I use it with my old computer running Firefox 3.6.8 just fine but installed the addon before upgrading to 3.6.8. Additionally, I know other people who are running Firefox 3.6.8 + Firefly without a problem. I uninstalled Firefox and installed the oldest version I could find (3.5) and tried to add it that version but had the same problem. I disabled all other extensions but still no luck. Thanks so much!

    Hello there.
If the add-on is incompatible with your current version, you need to contact its author and ask him to update his add-on.
There is a way, however, to force compatibility on all add-ons. See this:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Extensions.checkCompatibility
If you have any questions about the process, just ask.
