The update wiped everything off my phone.
The update wiped everything off my phone. It was updating fine, and I came back to the dreadful "plug into itunes" symbol.
Can someone please let me know why it did this? I updated to the iOS 7 without any problems like this. It's the iOS 7.0.2 that really effed me over.
I am truly devastated. All the pictures of my family are lost because I didn't think that this would wipe out my phone. If I had known, I would have backed it up.

No device in the world is perfect, and if those photos were so important,
they SHOULD have been backed up in the first place, regardless of what
device they were on.

i am running osx 10.5.8 and just wiped everything off this computer to free up space (including iTunes). I am trying to re-install itunes now and it won't because I need to be running osx 10.6.8. How do I update?
You can download iTunes 10.3 here - this will run on Leopard.

Installed the update tonight and now my phone (Lumia 928) won't power up. I've tried a soft reset, but the screen goes from the Nokia logo to a red Verizon screen to a black screen. Tried it 10 times with the same result. What's wrong and how do I fix it? Help!
Oh no Mr.Ected!
I can see if we can get your phone back on! I understand how important it is to have a phone. Have you tried this to see if we can get it back on? http://vz.to/1DZhteH . If it is still goes to a red Verizon screen and then to black we might need to do a master reset. While the phone is off try this:http://vz.to/1DZhXkU Be mindful this is the last resort because it will erase everything on the phone. If you have done back up assistant in the past you will be able to get you contacts back. Please let me know if you need any more help.

Will a software update erase everything off my BlackBerry Curve?
My Blackberry Desktop manager says that I can update my 5.0 software to the 6.0 software, but I'm worried if it will erase everything off my phone like my BBM contacts, pictures, music and everything else?
Hello Makenna,
During the software update the BlackBerry® Desktop Software provides a option to Backup the BlackBerry® smartphone.
You can also backup the BlackBerry® smartphone by following the steps shown here:

Update wiped everything out of iphoto
The latest auto update wiped everything out of iphoto leaving me an empty app. The photos are still in the library,...in a gagillion folders, but isn't there some way to restore all the albums and everything I had before? And is this going to happen every time there is an update?
Option click iPhoto and select Choose Library. Navigate to the iPhoto Library and iPhoto should see it now.
Is this going to happen every time there is an update?
No, I think that it just went wrong this time. -
I downloaded itunes to a new computer and it wiped everything off my ipod touch???
I got a laptop because my tower computer was ruined except for my drivers. I installed itunes on the laptop and connected my ipod touch and it wiped everything off. I beleive the backup never finished before it erased everything. Is there any way to retrieve my music pics and such now that they are gone and do not even exist on the new laptop?????
I they are not on your new computer they are gone. If you can't get them from your old computer they are gone forever.
You can only sync an iPod to one iTunes library/computer. When you change libriares/computer iTunes will erase you iPoa\d and replace its contents with what is in the iTunes library of the hew computer.
You can redownload app and maybe music. from Itunes. See:

I read an article in the paper today re the virus that locks off I-phone and I-pads, I have an iMac and an iPad 4. Is there a danger of this happening and if so how do I prevent it?
Many thanks, Roger Biggin. You may be referring to the "Oleg Pliss" hack (not a virus), in which some people (mostly in Australia and New Zealand) have had their Apple IDs hacked and used to remotely lock their iOS devices. If that's what you read about, be sure that you are using a strong password on your Apple ID, and consider enabling two-factor authentication on your Apple ID to make it difficult or impossible for a hacker to take it away from you.
If you live in Australia or New Zealand, it may be worthwhile to turn off Find My iPad on your iPad, at least until the cause of the problem has been determined. Of course, that reduces the protections against theft. You'd be better off to just make sure you're keeping the iPad backed up, so you can restore it if it happens to get locked.

Ever since installing on my 64bit Windows 7 install, Firefox has continually gotten more sluggish as time moves on, hangs for 10-15 secs at a time and just gets worse over time with the updates and everything. It was fast when I first installed, but over the last six mos has slown to a crawl.

I tried to update to ios7 but it said to plug into itunes. I've plugged it in several times but the update fails everytime and my phone continues to say plug into itunes. Any help is greatly appreciated
Your iPhone was hacked at a "small phone unlocking shop "
Only the carrier who locked the iPhone from new can unlock it no-one else
Anything else is hacking which forfeits any help from Apple and this forum
I also doubt that Orange will touch it
For an understanding what hacking does see here

I am on my computer at the IStore and there was an offer to update my Iphone and I selected the download. The update was downloading and then there was an error message and now my Iphone 4 is recovery mode. I don't want to loose all my existing stuff on my phone. What shall I do?
You should never update without making sure that everything is on your computer.
If your iphone is recovery mode, then everything on it is already lost.
If you are using your iphone as designed, then everything is on your computer, just sync it back. -
My IPhone went through the IOS 6.1 update and deleted everything. How do I get it back? It has done this every time there is a new update, and every time I have to redue overything by hand. please help me
The last step in the update process is a restore from the backup created as the first part of the update process.
Most likely, the update was not allowed to complete and therefore the restore did not happen.
Simply connect the device to the computer and restore from backup. -
iOS 5.1 also bricked her iPod Touch, despite my having no problem updating mine.
I thought that I had bricked my phone as well when I upgraded my iPhone 4s to iOS 5.1 but I just fixed it last night after 3 hours of trying everything. My phone was stuck in recovery mode and had the icon telling me to plug it into iTunes, but iTunes didn't recognize my phone at all. I tried everything from uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, but still nothing worked. I tried changing the USB port that I plugged my iPhone into and THAT is what worked. I have no idea why, but my computer finally recognized my phone, but had to be restored. Luckily I had a very recent backup so restoring it wasn't so painful.
Try changing the USB port where you plug in your phone on your computer; hopefully that works for you! -

An iPhone's content is designed to originate or be backed up on the computer with which is was last synced.
Getting content off an iPhone and onto a computer with which it was not synced can be done though. Read the following to determine if this is an option for her: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
This will not restore anything not purchased from the iTunes Store. For that you will need to rely upon a number of third party utilities that claim to be able to do it. -
My phone won't turn on. The update failed when plugged into the computer and now it wants to restore it to factory settings. I don't want to lose everything. What do I do?
Hi,
With your iPhone plugged in can you see the Summary window?
You may be able to restore from backup, if you have backups on your computer.
If not, maybe you should try Recovery
