Firefox 4 is absolutely awful - it is causing massive problems with my computer. How do I uninstall Firefox 4 and go back to the previous version of Firefox?
According to the instructions given on the Norton Community forum under "Other Norton Products/Comcast-Customers - Norton Toolbar Problem in Firefox 10", I have done everything necessary. And I do have a Norton toolbar (Safe Web and Identity Safe) when I open Firefox 10. As was mentioned in the previous posts here, you need to run manual LiveUpdate then reboot until you have version 5.2.0.13. Then reboot and run manual LiveUpdate again and reboot once more. One thing that I noticed is that Norton never told me that it had updated the patch for Firefox 10, so I didn't know. I guess if you have the toolbar when you run Firefox 10, then you have done it all.

A. Backup before doing anything advanced is recommended but not widely used.
B. Upgrade on vanilla plain (and updated) operatiing system goes flawlessly. Upgrade on "real" computer may depend on "status" of operating system and applications installed. You may not be the last experiencing troubles.
C. Software vendors expect that users has nearly unlimited disk size, large memory and latest processor.
D. It is on you to find anything positive to compensate annoyances. Mental balance is in your hands ;-) -
How to change IP address and subnet mask without using the sys-unconfig ?
I have Solaris 10 x86. I've ran into problems using the sys-unconfig command
to change hostname and IP address.

Thanks.We just switched over a DNS server by using ifconfig, (same subnet), and killing named. seems to be working fine, anything I should look out for ?
steps:
Prep -
- change name in /etc/hostname.e1000g0
- change name and IP in /etc/hosts and /etc/nodename
- # uname -S dnsint02
Activate
- unplug old dnsint02
# ifconfig e1000g0 192.168.2.80
# kill -9 [PID of named]
Cleanup
- Remove old key on clients I SSH from.
- reconfigure backup software for new name/server combo.

How do I keep Microsoft from adding things to my computer. I have automatic updates off (because one of their updates caused my computer to crash), but recently they placed an add-on for Firefox that required much time to remove, and they also added something else that caused Outlook to not work. I don't know what else they might have added that I know nothing about.

Ver 32.0.3 for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. Once I've used a bookmark in a session, it becomes unavailable for the remainder of that session. If I want to go back to the website accessed earlier, I have to exit out of Firefox and restart it.
That is not normal Firefox behavior. Is it a normal bookmark?

No matter what I do, I cannot log in to update my apps. I even went to appleid.apple.com to Manage My Account and NOTHING works. I have reset the password a zillion times and it will not work. I called Apple, but they can't even assist me with password help, which is ridiculous! This is so frustrating. I have Signed out of the iPhone store in the General Settings, turned off my phone, reset it, created a new name, and NOTHING will work!
HELP!!Yes, this happens directly on my iPhone. I go to my App Store icon on my phone, try to "Update All" and my username pops up lookng for the password. I type in the password, and it keeps saying it is incorrect. When I follow the prompts to "reset" a password, I create a new, go back, and the NEW password I just created, literally seconds ago, NEVER WORKS! I've gone to the General Settings icon to log out, log back in, then I go to the iTunes store, log out, log in....NOTHING works. It is drving me crazy!! I can purchase apps, just can't update. I have no idea how to fix, since Apple will not assist me. They say I need to purchase the Apple Care Protection, which is so ridiculous that I have to "pay" to get support on a simple task, such as password help! Sigh...

why would an error pop up saying the installer is damaged. The Installer can’t open the package. There may be a problem with file ownership or permissions. when trying to install java 7?
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

from the hierarchical list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

I have had nothing but problems since I installed the latest version of Firefox version 18. It hangs up my computer no matter what I am doing. Even if I am not using the browser. I uninstalled it three times and the problems just seemed to be getting worse. I finally uninstalled it and did not reinstall it again. I am not going to use it again until the problems are fixed. I also don't know what funmoods is or whatever it is that replaced my google home page. I don't like software deciding what services I should use. I have been a firefox user for over 15 years. I have never had problems like this before. I have switched to Safari. It works without interfering with the other tasks I am doing on my computer. I don't know what version 18 did but the previous version of firefox I was using was perfectly fine. I had no problems whatsoever with it. It appears as if this version was not sufficiently tested. Also my daughter is having the same problems with her computer and they all started with the new version. So it isn't just me. At least give us the option of going back to the previous version and asking us if we want to upgrade when a new one comes out. However, I have never had these problems in the past with any version of firefox I installed. I like the features of firefox but cannot afford to keep rebooting my computer. It seems that firefox gets hung up and then hangs the computer up and I can't do anything else even if I am not using it. It seems to stay on in the background and hang everything up. Please fix this.
It most definitely is the browser that is causing most of the problems. I have used Firefox so long, I can't even remember. Maybe since its beginning. But today is a sad day. I gave up on it. I can't accomplish anything and end up spending hours troubleshooting. I see I am not alone. I am so sick of it "not responding." It's simply not worth it to spend so much time trying to make the thing work, so I can actually do something. Installed, removed, reinstalled numerous times, and I can't fix your software on my Win 7 Pro machine. No problems with IE or Chrome. So. as much as I hate Google Update, Chrome has won the test. Sad, sad day for me to lose Firefox, but it just does not work on the Win 7 machine. I don't have the same issues with the XP machine and have exactly all the same add-ons. Keep it up developers and you will have no Win 7 users at all.

I keep getting the following dialogue box when I start Firefox " Could not initialise the application's security component. The most probable cause is problems with files in your browser's profile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions." I am not sure how to find or change the profile directory. I have gone to the Options: General: Save files to ...box but it wont allow me to browse to another file and the box remains blank. ideas please!

I uninstalled the browser and download a new version but it does not resolve the issue.
I know my hard disc has ample space. I do NOT know where to find the Profile directory to fix the read restriction box.

New Windows 7 computer. After installing Firefox, every time I bring it up I get the following message:

Firefox 6.0.1 causes extreme problems with ATI Catalyst 10.x drivers on a Win7 x64 system. Took me quite awhile to identify, but when I roll back to Firefox 6.0, no problems. Once Firefox recognizes this and reinstalls the 6.0.1 update then severe display driver problems occur causing very erratic display behavior and ultimately rendering the system inoperative. The problem appears to occur within a minute or two after Firefox has been opened and it occurs even if Firefox has been subsequently closed prior to the actual event taking place. I have attempted this 6 times just to ensure that the problem was associated with the 6.0.1 update.

No Service with 3G - 4 Bars with 2G after updating to 2.02
