The verification fails everytime I download Firefox to my mac. How can I fix?

I've tried to download Firefox twice and I keep getting the error message "verification failed". Same thing with Thunderbird. I have Mac osx

I would first update to the latest version of Firefox & attempt to pause the download as you stated to verify if this resolved the issue.

Check Finderr->Preferences->General and ensure that HDs are selected for display. If so and they still don't, Reset the NVRAM/PRAM and Reset the SMC, and see if that does the trick.

Whenever i close Firefox and restart my computer it goes back to normal.There is also another problem associated with this which is that whenever Firefox is in 32 bit mod I listen to music the sound always comes unclear like clogged up.When i restart my computer its not 32 bit anymore the sound gets back to normal.I am using Windows 7.

If 32-bit Firefox was installed, it will be always listed as such. If both 32-bit and 64-bit were installed, please make sure to start the correct one. Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.

Apple no longer includes Flash with the new Macs. So, if you run into things that require Flash you must, if you want to view them, go to the Adobe site and download the Flashplayer as Paul_31 suggested.

Thanks for the reply Brenden. However the problem is:
     At the very bottom of the "Mailboxes" screen (where I've got 6 email addresses that do work) there is on the far right (bottom right corner) an icon to compose a new message.
     In the center of that space is a generated message that says: 1) "downloading x of y" and 2) when finished downloading it says "Updated on 9/26/14." today is 11/6/14!
     My problem is that that date hasn't changed since I upgraded to iOS 8.1. The emails are current, but that date isn't!
Can you help?

When you look at your iPhone, are you looking in the Music app or in the iTunes app? Be sure you are looking in the Music app, and look in the Songs category. If your songs are not here, you may want to try syncing your information again through iTunes. To do this, uncheck "Sync Music" and then click apply or sync in the bottom right corner of iTunes, and then recheck "Sync Music" and then click apply or sync again.

Yes. The battery appears to be shot and in need of a replacement. This can either be done by Apple or a third party repair company.
