the volume on my macpro only works on earphones....it even has a red light on it...

What red light?  Where on a mac pro?  Or are you talking about a macbook pro?

    I had the same problem as well for nearly 3 months.
    I had tried bring the Iphone into my phone carrier and they sent me to the AppleStore. When I brought it to them they hooked it up to the diagnostic machine and they told me just to restart the Iphone from the factory settings.
    This didn't work either. To complicate things more, other "solutions" seem to only yield temporary success. These temporary solutions included: blowing compressed air into every port, various restart combinations, various factory restore methods.
    I had nearly given up until I stumbled upon a support post on Apple's website that finally yielded success.

    The solution for me is listed as line 7, which reads:
    "Check the receiver mesh (which is on the top front of the device, above the display). If it appears blocked, use a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush to carefully and gently brush away any debris."
    Apparently, this cylinder shaped, mesh area is in some way tied to what triggers the headphones/speaker selection. I am not sure how, but I can say that after gently brushing it out my sounds are working again; specifically my music is now able to play directly off the speakers and my Iphone apps all play their sounds agian.

    I have created a navigation system on the master pages and set the presentation to links only mode. I also have other links scattered throughout the program, like a linkable table of contents, etc. Some of them work, some of them don't. Not sure why. Anyone out there having similar issues? Or have any idea on how I can solve this issue? Any help would be appreciated!

    Links should not create any problems in Keynote.  If they are set up correctly on text, the text will be underlined. Objects that have links will have a curved arrow bottom right, if you click the arrow a popup will display the link information.
    Try this repair for Keynote,  ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:
    1 
    delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote, using Appcleaner from Mac Update, its a freeware application
    2 
    empty the trash:  Finder > Empty Trash
    3 
    Shut down your Mac, wait 30 seconds, then power on the Mac, immediately after the start chime, hold down the Shift key
    When you see the grey Apple symbol and progress indicator (a spinning gear), release the Shift key.
    If you are prompted to log in, type your password, then hold down the Shift key again as you click Log in.

    Let the Mac fully boot up, it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive
    5 
    when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive then First Aid tab and click  repair disc permissions
    6 
    when complete, restart the Mac normally, Apple menu > Restart

    install Keynote from the Mac App Store

    Swipe up on the bottom of the screen to expose control center and see if the orientation lock is on (top row of controls, far right; looks like a lock with a circular arrow).
    Not all apps support orientation changes, BTW.

    How exactly stopped working?  Three things to try
    Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
    Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

  • Why does the volume button on iPad stop working

    Sound comes on sometimes works fine other times I go to change volume and it won't sound

    Is there anything around the volume rocker that might he affecting how it works? Maybe some sticky substance or anything that could be causing the button to stick?
    Have you tried resetting the iPad?
    Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

    Did you try turning up the volume button on the left side, Also go into your settings>sounds and try to change the volume. 

  • [SOLVED] How to make the volume knob on my headset work

    I have a Turtle Beach PX3.  It's a USB wireless headset.  I got the sound working and everything and I can control the volume through the XFCE mixer or the ALSA mixer but I would like to be able to use the physical knob.  On Windows 7, it just sends a signal to bump up the volume in the software mixer much like the volume controls on a keyboard would.  For the short time I used Xubuntu 12.04 it recognized that I was moving the knob (it popped up a volume bar) but it seemed to be adjusting the wrong thing because the volume didn't actually change.  On Arch, it doesn't do anything.  I'm just did a fresh install and I'm running XFCE with just straight ALSA but I wouldn't be objecting to trying out PulseAudio or something if it would help (though I've never set this up in Arch so I may need a little help).

    Nevermind, got my Google-fu on and the package was xorg-xev.  It recognized when I moved the knob.

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
    Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

    about three days ago the vomule is working, icant listen to my music or anythng

    the volume on my imac became possessed. volume levels changed by themselves. finally called apple support and the problem is fixed. did a smc reboot. basically turn off computer and disconnect from power supply for
    30 seconds and then restart. smc reboot seems to have different directions for different products. look it up and go to it. problem fixed. hope this works for you.
