The volume on the mac is on but refuses to play the sound

Hello my volume will not work even when it is fully on. Please help me figure out what to do or if I should just restart the computar. Thank you!!

Since updating to iOS7.0.4, my iPhone 4S rarely plays text sounds or in-app sounds. Also volume control is no longer functioning using side buttons. When can we expect a fix Apple?

Have done recovery, reset settings, reset content and settings. Nothing changes the fact that its 7.0.4.
Ringtone sound works. Can adjust ringtone sound in settings but it wont play text sounds from in settings. Definitely appears to be a firmware bug.
Can someone from Apple ackowledge this issue please and advise how long till it is fixed? I am missing important texts that i need to be recieving.

It doesn't appear to affect every 4S. I don't know if theres specific batches it affects or maybe its location based, but i have a friend who has the same phone as me and theirs did exactly the same thing only after doing the firmware update. I'm pretty confident it is a bug. Looking around on google, it seems like its happening to a lot of other 4S users.
I have done a settings reset, didn't fix it. Did a settings and content reset, didn't fix it. Did a full recovery back to the backup i did when i first purchased it, didn't fix it. None of these things changes the firmware.
I am pretty appalled that apple would release a firmware upgrade with such an obvious problem for 4S users. Did they not test it first? Now i am finding multiple texts from people asking me things hours after they messaged me because the sounds don't work. Not impressed.

Hi, I have backed up 2 IMACs and one Mac Book Pro but for some reason, the 3rd IMAC come up with this problem: The backup disk image “/Volumes/Data/Anthony’s iMac.sparsebundle” could not be accessed (error -1). Is the volume muted? Click on the volume icon in the system tray to see if it shows as muted. If that's the case, I know of a workaround to fix this because if you unmute the speakers now, the condition will come back when you reboot your computer. I don't know the exact steps off the top of my head at the moment as I'm not in front of my machine. Check this first and reply if muting was the problem and I will detail the steps needed to fix the problem.

It sounds like you have a new album downloaded and the tracks all have a very low volume. I recommend checking to see if Sound Check is enabled in the Music settings.

Regarding your first question about bookmarks, I think you discovered the answer in when you pressed the address bar. The second tab there has your bookmarks.
As for the keyboard, I'm not sure why your Firefox is reacting so slowly; mine seems to show keyboards even when I don't want them. If you have accumulated a lot of history, perhaps that's an issue?
Did you use any third party software to move your Firefox data from internal memory to the storage card?

There is a difference in what Kappy stated and what you stated. A major paid upgrade (v2.x to v3.0), yes, costs money, as it would in any other delivery stream. Updates (v3.0 to v3.1) to a a major version are free.
Most apps sold through the Mac App Store (MAS) are the type that use the simple drag & drop installation. Those are downloaded directly to the designated apps folder and installation is done. Large pro-type apps download an installer to your Apps folder. Those you can install at your leisure. The MAS does not have a lot of apps using this type of installation.
Be sure to always backup your MAS purchases, because there is no guarantee that the app will always be available for download in the future and it is your responsibility to archive copies.

Try a hard reset of the Nano. To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
I assume you have double checked to make sure you are plugging the headset all the way in meaning the white part of the headset is flush with the body of the Nano?

The sound on my macbook pro does not work if I plug headphones in I can still hear but it will not project volume out loud and when I try to turn up the volume it is just greyed out what do I do ?

Hopefully one of these steps should solve the problem.
1. System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
    Highlight Internal Speakers
    Make sure that Mute is not enabled.
2. Remove the headphone.
    If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
    in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
    Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.

How can I get the sounds , like clicking,etc to work on iPad 2 with IOS 5. In the settings all sounds are on and the volume is high but I don't get a sound.

After downloading IOS 5, I no longer get the sounds on my IPAD 2 to work. They are on in settings and the volume is at maximum, but the sounds such as keyboard click, email sent etc, donor work.

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. My headphone jack doesn't work all the time either so some times my kids can hear their games and sometimes they can't. I am super frustrated at this point. So any suggestions would be great. Am I missing something basic or do we just have a soundless iPad now?

The sound on/off button onthe side of my iPhone no longer works, nor do the volume buttons. All sound has disappeared from the phone apart from the Music which still plays. Have tried th Restore and restart phone plus have plugged and unplugged phone jack. No luck - any idea anyone?

One thing that helped was getting a toothbrush and scrubbing the dock connector on the phone. I scrubbed the connector and used compressed air for about 1/2 hour till the connector looked much cleaner. An Apple employee told me that the pins on the phone had a little corrosion and sand. The problem hasn't gone away completely, but has been significantly reduced. I'm going to hold out until my contract expires after which time I'll switch to an iPhone5 (or newer) or Android phone.

Just recently my iphone 4s speakers started acting up. I have restored it twice once to a back up and the other time as a new phone. The speakers get really staticy on full volume and then it cuts out but if I turn down the volume and blow air into the speakers it goes back to play fine until I turn up the volume again. I'm going to try to clean it out with a toothbrush and see if that helps. But I'm curious does this seem more like a hardware problem or is it a problem with the operating system and I should try to hold out until ios 6 comes out and see if that helps. I've read all the problems with this so I'm hesitant to send it in since there is no apple store around here and find out I have to pay to get it fixed. Tried to talk to them on the phone but since it's a week past ninety days I would have to purchase apple care in order to get any help but yet that's only available for 30 days after your purchase so I'm not sure how come they can offer that over the phone. Thanks for the help. The problem just started suddenly. The problem I have is the closest Apple Store is 3 hours away so I would have to send it in and I don't want to send it to them and then be told I'd have to pay for it. Would they just send the phone back if you decide not to have it fixed. I will probably just get used to it or maybe it will fix itself one day.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
