The wackiest thing ever on FCE
Ok, this beats all.
somehow, i lost my timeline and canvas, they were greyed out in the selection to modify the windows, so i found the answer on this forum, i think (double click on sequence) but i must have spaced out or something because right before i did that, i somehow clicked on an option under final cut express or view in the far left corner of the FCE screen, then selected "digitize view" or something like that, can't remember now. So, now, i have a completely black screen, a final cut toolbar at the top that only comes in view when you mouse over it and a missing dock. it's crazy.
help me before i go completely insane. what the heck is this? can't find it in my manual.
thank you

I've seen weirder.

One of the funniest things ever happened t o me APERTURE LOST
One real funny thing happend to me here at the App Store.
I have purchased in the past Aperture and in 2012 i bought my new iMac and went to download it but couldnt so i bought it again and had a problem , So i called Tec Support and the guy that came online asked me why did you buy it twice so i told him that i could not download my old purchace.He spoke to the App store and tey refunded my money and i was abble to download it fine with his help.
Now i did a full Erase of my Macbook Pro and trying to download it and cant. Send an email to Apple a couple of days ago and here I am,Nothing yet not sure why they erased my Aperture my first and second purchace ,I understand first had to stay there but second has to go ,Not sure whats going on with apple store.I will never buy anything unless it is on a CD or DVD .Learn from my bad experiance that mybe they will correct but when God knows.Interesting post, I enjoyed it.
However, keep in mind, Arch is not Fedora. It is not Red-Hat-esque, not newbie-friendly, nor will it ever aim to be so.
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/The_Arch_Way
The way Arch does things is different in that it strives to use the most elegant and simple methodology. Note that simple does not mean "user-friendly", it means just that, simple. System configuration is left entirely up to the user. There are no GUI configuration tools; system resource controls are handled through configuration files and from the command line. This is unlikely to change.
What you may see as unfinished or raw, is actually the way Arch devs and users prefer the system to be, so your assumption that Arch has not reached version 1.0 is not quite accurate in this sense.
"It is what you make it." In other words, you build it, but it won't hold your hand along the way.
Take advantage of the excellent documentation in the wiki (especially the beginner's guide) and the community. When you adopt the Arch way of doing things, I am sure your C+ rating will go up, as you will have gained the knowledge of how truly elegant and powerful Arch can be.
Welcome to Arch! -
The Wackiest thing, Numbers match, but it's half the size
Ok,
This is the code (document class).
public function LoadingDoors()
//Check for a Reference to the stage.
if (stage){
//already have stage access
onAddedToStage();
} else {
//need to obtain stage access
addEventListener(Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE, onAddedToStage);
private function onAddedToStage(event:Event=null):void
//remove the listener as it is no longer needed
removeEventListener(Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE, onAddedToStage);
//Align the content to the top left of the stage.
stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT;
trace("stage width from Doors " + stage.stageWidth);
trace("stage Height From Doors " + stage.stageHeight);
this.width = stage.stageWidth;
this.height = Math.round(stage.stageHeight);
trace("Doors Width after assignment " + this.width);
trace("Doors height after assignment " + this.height);
The following traces out.
stage width from Doors 1264
stage Height From Doors 685
Doors Width after assignment 1264
Doors height after assignment 685.05
First odd thing is the 685.05 value, when there is a math.round(), does not seem to be rounding it.
Second and more important is when I look at my Flash player, it is at the dimensions shown, 1264x685, however the swf, shows the same dimensions 1264x685.05 but yet only takes up half the swf player screen in the Y axis. The x axis of the swf stretches to fit.

Anyone have any Ideas why this might be happening?Sounds like you turned on Digital Cinema Desktop Preview. Under the View menu in the Finder bar, select External Video and make sure it's turned to Off.

Has anyone else bought the Kin TwoM and found it the worst thing ever??
I got the Kin TwoM and found it the worst cell phone I have had EVER.It never keeps its battery life but for a day and the screen is way too touchy and I can not send people photos or post them online I have yet to get the wi fi to work anymore it just stopped.I hate this cell and if I had the money I would buy different one right now but instead I am stuck with it.
Maybe I should clearify this a bit the issue wasn't the device but more along the devices popularity with the customers, this information is basically posted on a number of forums but I dont see Verizon addressing this as a issue because the device works well for some but it simply wasn't for everyone.. If you search the forum you could find a number of reported reviews...
Check this one... https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/355420/page/5 -
Ummmm this is the oddest thing ever.
i downloaded the new intel updated for my mac mini and i restarted it and i left it on. when i come back my screensaver with all my itunes album cover is shaded pink. i checked all my other screen savers and they are fine. I also checked itunes and they arent pink its sooo weird
if you've ever played with a crystal radio kit, you know it's pretty simple to pick up AM radio...
it sounds like something in your audio system is getting interference. check for loose connections and poor grounding. -
Ok this is the wierdest thing ever!
I have an Airport Express, a lovely black Macbook, and the latest version of iTunes and OSX.
I was trying out some songs tonight through the store (preview) and i have my speakers connected up to my airport express.
My airport express is pretty secure and doesn't have anyone else connected.
So I found this strange, er, background commentary when i was playing music. I can get it consistently when I press play, let my mac connect to the speakers (through the express) and then hit pause. This is when i try to preview a song.
TRUST ME I AM NOT KIDDING HERE. I TRIED THIS LIKE 5 TIMES. It gets weirder and weirder each time. I have a pretty nice amp and i had to turn it up a bit to hear this stuff.
Here's what I heard, again im not kidding:
"Gold self directed IRA's are available"
"Government takeover of the church, this DVD is the most powerful DVD we have. Make copies and give them away to church friends governe-"
"our web site will empower you with the right health decisions" "as a bonus we'll send you a password" (these were on top of eachother)
Can anyone tell me what's happening? It's almost like it's picking up multiple radio stations or something at the same time. Honestly this is freaking me out.if you've ever played with a crystal radio kit, you know it's pretty simple to pick up AM radio...

My lock button is stuck. So i cant lock the screen when im not using it. I dont know how but it was in my pocket and must have clicked my messages and deleted ALL of my messages between me and my boyfriend. I had messages from before we were even dating. My phone deleted all of my memories. Now i cant get them back. It may not seem like a big deal to you but it is to me.
My lock button is stuck. So i cant lock the screen when im not using it.
Huh? If you set your phone to auto-lock, it will lock by itself.
Settings > General > Auto-Lock > choose timing
My phone deleted all of my memories. Now i cant get them back.
If you have been backing up your phone, as instructed and as is considered routine maintenance for all computing devices, your data would not be lost.
Help me with my problem because Toyota makes the dumbest thing ever invented. The parking break on my car is broken, and every time I park on a hill, my car rolls and smashes into other cars. I now lost my insurance. How do I get it back? Why should I have to fix my out-of-warranty parking break? -

Ever since I updated to the IOS 6, I no longer can play my music in the car! It is plug and play! It just sits there saying connecting and nothing happens. A couple of my friends have said the same thing. Any ideas? Help please!
Hello ..do you have a history on the phone? did you get it wet? was it dropped? have you been using an authentic ORIGINAL apple charging cable?
this problem occurs when there is a short circuit in the phone... you most likely got it wet at some point and maybe didnt even realize it? The moisture in the phone hasb probablly oxidized one or several capacitors, integrated chips thereby short circuiting the phone. that is why he phone is acting erratic because these short circuits inadvertently "activates" other circuits.. eventually the phone will not turn on anymore- the heat will stress the citcuit board and you will have discontinuity along your main power lines and the phone will cease to function..i see this alllll the time in our shop
the fact you upgraded to ios6 will even work the phone harder because its a more powerful operating system taking full advantage of the A4 chip.. -
Minidv - the strangest thing I've ever seen
I started a thread last week asking if minidv was dead. I asked this because it appeared that my Panasonic minidv camera was broken and I wondered if I should make the move to a different format. Bottom line: There was no need to leave minidv at this point in time . . .just get another minidv camera and I'd be fine for the foreseeable future.
As a continuation of that discussion, I have encountered the strangest thing I've ever seen and I'm wondering if anybody can provide insight. I'll try to make a complicated story as concise as possible.
The reason I thought my Panasonic camera was in need of repairs was because large blue streak suddenly appeared across the screen when I played back or recorded video. This was not a problem with the tape, because I checked a few different tapes. In addition, these blue streaks showed up on previously recorded footage that looked perfectly fine when I dumped it to FCP a while ago.
So I bought a used Canon on eBay as a replacement. When I inserted a couple of tapes into the Canon, I saw gray streaks in the same manner I had seen blue streaks on the Panasonic. As far as I could tell, this meant one of two things: 1) there WAS a problem with the footage on the tapes, or, 2) both cameras were malfunctioning in a similar matter.
After an hour of going back and forth trying to isolate the problem, I decided to record some new footage on the Canon. When I did this, there were no gray streaks on playback of the new footage. Out of curiosity, I went back and looked at the previous footage that appeared to have gray streaks, and now the gray streaks were gone.
Wondering if some kind of miracle had happened, I took the tape out of the Canon and inserted it into the Panasonic. Still the same blue streaks on the Panasonic. Since recording a few seconds of new footage on the Canon seemed to be a miracle cure, I decided to try the same thing on the Panasonic. Voila! Blue streaks are gone. I tested other tapes . . .all blue streaks gone from the Panasonic and all gray streaks gone from the Canon.
If recording new footage on the Panasonic somehow magically realigned the heads or something, that should have fixed it last week when this problem first arose on my Panasonic. I tried all these same tests on the Panasonic and the blue streaks wouldn't go away on both newly recorded footage and previously recorded footage.
How is it possible that both of these cameras were working incorrectly in the same manner with several different tapes and then, simply by recording several seconds of new footage, they were miraculously healed? This is bizarre!!!
The only thing I did differently in all this troubleshooting was eat a banana. After that, things were fine. I say that half jokingly, but that is literally what I did. I took a break and at a banana, then 5 minutes later I tried exactly the same things and the cameras worked.
I guess I should be happy that both cameras are working now, but since I have no clue what the common denominator was that caused them to malfunction, and I have no clue how they both healed themselves, I'm worried about using them when I'm trying to record important footage.
Any serious thoughts about how this miracle has happened? (Yes, I know that user error is usually the next thing to consider, but I took very methodical steps to isolate the problem, so I really think the odds of that being the cause are very slim.)Sounds like dirty heads to me....
I had a similar problem a few years ago. Weird streaks started showing up in my footage, so I used my friend's camera to figure out if it was a problem with the tape or my camera. I ended up transferring dirt from my camera to my friend's with the tape I was using. The footage was ruined, but I ran a head cleaning tape through both cameras and never had the problem since, although I haven't used MiniDV in a few years now.
Sounds like you did the same thing as me....meaning you're right twice: 1) the tapes had dirt on them, and 2) both cameras were having the same problem because the tape was dirty
it seems weird that recording new footage fixed the problem, but its possible that it cleaned the dirt of the heads (temporarily). I'd say buy a couple head cleaning tapes and you'll be fine....and maybe try eating more bananas -

Upgrading to OS Lion is the worst thing I ever did
Having used Macs for many years, been through all the upgrades, and never had any significant problems, the update from SL to Lion has been a disaster! My late 2008 Macbook Pro freezes on a regular basis and it's not associated with a particular activity which makes it even more annoying.
It freezes within 5 minutes of waking up from sleep whatever browser I'm using. In fact the only thing that does work properly seems to be mail.
The upgrade to 10.7.1 made no difference at all.
I've used MacUpdate to get as much as I can updated, bought new software (Office 2004 not compatible), and my life is about waiting for the spinning beachball now!
Symptoms:
1. I get the kernal log messages 'IOSurface: buffer allocation size is zero' on a regular basis which from what I read is associated with Flash player
2. Desktop icons take a long time to load, and some just stay blank
3. Machine is sluggish
4. Force quit does not work
5. The only way to resolve freezes is to switch off via the power button
Am very fed up...is there anything I can do or should I just go back to SL?
Any help or suggestions about where to look or how to diagnose my specific problems welcome!Reboot as usual (not in safe mode) if you haven't already done so. Launch the Terminal application, copy or drag -- do not type -- the line of text below into the window, and press return:
kextstat -kl | awk ' !/apple/ { print $6 } '
Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered (the text, please, not a screenshot.)
Next, do the same thing with this line:
sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk ' !/0x|apple|com\.vix|edu\.|org\./ { print $3 } '
That's one line, not two. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning.
Next, this command:
launchctl list | sed 1d | awk ' !/0x|apple|edu\.|org\./ { print $3 } '
Again, one line. Finally, one more:
ls -1 /Library/{InputManagers,StartupItems}
Remember, this is all drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste, whichever you prefer -- no typing, except your password.
You can then quit Terminal.
