The welcome screen is loading every time I start up Firefox (version 5)

I recently upgraded to version 5.
Every time I start Firefox up, the "welcome to Firefox" screen is loaded in a second tab. I don't want it to load every time. The first time I launched the program was enough.

Do you see a Last 7 days folder?
If not then older history has been deleted. 
Firefox 5 doesn't use a time limit to store history like previous Firefox 3 versions did.

I have my disks that came with my laptop I have went into disk utility to repair disk and I still seem to have the same problem .. No icons or apps or anything lol just the cursor I can only shut down the laptop via power but and the press shut down.
Please help I am going out my mind with this thing :(

This can be used to boot the machine and delelte enough files to get it to boot normally.
.Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive

Every time I start up Firefox, it checks for plugin updates. All my plugins are up to date, but it continues to load the plugin site. How do I make it stop?

Starting on Fri. 6/10/11, every time I start up Firefox 3.6.17, it loads the plugin update site. Initially, it said my Adobe reader plugin was out of date. Therefore I updated that plugin, yet that did not fix the problem. So I was finally forced to disable the plugin. After doing this, the plugin updates check still runs every time I start FF. However, they all come back up to date.
So my question is how do you make this plugin update check stop running. I had made no changes to firefox prior to this.

There's a fault with the blocklist.xml file which was updated on Friday, it should be fixed on Monday and you should get the updated file on Monday or Tuesday.

Regarding Firefox 16.0.2. Every time I start up Firefox, especially after a period with my comp in standby mode, I am always asked to install several add-ons and extentions. Always the same ones, and always several. I install them, again and again, yet I am still always prompted to reinstall every time I start Firefox. I've always had this batch installed, but I don't know why it keeps telling me to reinstall them.

Some security software has virtualization or sandbox features that may cause problems by protecting and restoring files in the Firefox profile folder.
It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

How do I fix: The Plugin Check comes up EVERY time I start Firefox, AND I've installed Adobe Acrobat over 3 times but it still shows up as outdated

Every time I start Firefox, the Plugin Check runs. Every ... single ... time. Very annoying. How do I get this to stop?

I installed Adobe Acrobat at least 3 times, but it still shows up as "outdated". Obviously, it only truly installed once, but I tried clicking the button in vain hope that that will fix it.
But really, I simply don't want the Plugin Check to start every time.

Alas, I already tried setting it to False (read it online somewhere) and it doesn't work. Perhaps if you could give guidance on why the Adobe install isn't completing, that would solve the plug-in check issue... Fingers crossed.

How do i stop the "update to 6.o" every time i open my firefox?

every time i open my firefox a download "update to 6.0" appears. tried 'x-ing' out, tried repeated 'no' on the install now and after 12 days of it sick of it. how do i get rid of these? i didn't want 4.0, so why should i want 6.0? i am content with my 3.16. that i have been using and don't wish to change.

Why does the cursor skip a line every time I start a new contact?

I just got my first iPhone, and I love many things about it, but I'm pretty frustrated about other things. One frustrating thing is that if I go to save a number as a contact, it brings up the new contact page, and EVERY time I click on the first name line, it goes there and immediately jumps to line 2. Same if I click on line 3, it skips to line 4. Or I'll type a letter or two and it skips one or several lines. Anybody else have this issue? Anybody know any fixes? Please help. This will make me lose my cool if I can't get this glitch fixed.

If you are having issues with your iPhone's Contacts application acting oddly, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
Force an app to close in iOS
Next, I would try restarting and if needed resetting the iPhone -

Every time I start up Firefox the PluginChecker loads in addition to my home page.

In tools/ startup "show my home page is selected".
There does not appear to be anything else but the URL for my home page in the homepage URL window in tools/start up.
Other related problem: If I do not have "history cleared when Firefox closes", all the previous tabs open next time I start up. (I do NOT have "show my windows and tabs from time" selected.)
If I have history kept, and open and close a bunch of times, I will get the screen filled with one home page and as many plugincheckers as I closed down with plus one.

Can I stop the updates from popping up every time I click on firefox? It updates to often.

When ever there is an update available a pop up comes on when I click on my firefox browser. If I dont install the update then that pop up shows up every time I click on my browser. I would like to say no thank you to the updates all the time and stick with what I have. But if I dont do it then I am slowed down by this pop up. Can I just make the updates stop?

Why Firefox 5 opening the "What's new" page every time I start the browser?

I have Firefox betas since version firefox 4 beta 1, so when it's updated to version 5, I uninstalled firefox, and install the clean version 5 with my saved settings.
Everything went okay, started the browser and it searched for addon compatibility, opened up the What's new page. But now it is for every start, so it's very annoying.
I tried clean the mess but nothing changed.

Firefox is auto loading every time I start Windows 7. How can I stop this from happening?

Windows 7 - 64 bit. Firefox 7.0.1

I set the default browser to chrome, no change. I then set it to IE, still no change. Every time I boot the computer it starts FF with google as the home page and no bookmarks or toolbars. I must then close it and wait until it is completely dead and then double click on my FF icon on the desktop. When the version of FF that I actually use starts, my home page is Yahoo, just as I set it to be. This version of FF also has my tool bars and bookmarks.

Since latest update, every time I start up Firefox the "New Tab" button is gone and I need to re-add it from the "customise toolbar" menu.

I don't know if my settings are not being remembered or what, but the New Tab button is missing each time I open up Firefox.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Tabs I have closed out still load every time I bring up Firefox! I can't get rid of them.

Two days ago I closed out my daily Firefox session. I had ten tabs open, which is typical for me, including the homepage. I closed out the entire session by hitting the X in the uppermost right hand corner. Shut down the computer, etc., NEXT day, when I go to open Firefox, all of those tabs reload. NOW... get this: I have closed those out one by one by clicking their individual X's. When that failed to solve the problem, I closed them out from the FILE menu, again, individually, same problem. In the meantime, I have started new sessions with different tabs opened (and the pestering, persistent ones closed. BUT STILL when I open a brand new session of Firefox, those ten tabs from two days continue to load. It is really annoying. Help!
