The window is not refreshing the view in Firefox 5

The content of the Firefox window is being frozen. Clicking on the Firefox tabs or on links inside the page, or simply scrolling the page is doing nothing. But if I switch to another program (with command+tab for example) and then return to Firefox, the view is being refreshed and displays the result of an action I made before switching the windows. But it continue to act this way on.
Sometimes just leaving Firefox open for some time will resolve the issue by itself. But in most cases I have to close an reopen the program.
It happens 5 to 20 times a day, depending on the usage.
I'm using 2 windows with multiple tabs opened in both of them.
When it happens I don't see any significant load on the system, nor Firefox takes any additional CPU usage.

This is a follow up on the first question. I went out to the issuu website to see if it was a problem only with the document posted by me. Answer - No. Every document opened to full screen showed the same behavior. The document opens, but the full-page view stays up for only a second or two and then closes leaving you back at the referral page.

Folders open without toolbars, windows to not refresh, other issues

I am having a problem on my Mac G5 Dual 2GHz, it is running OS 10.4.11
For the past few days when ever I open certain folders on our network volumes the finder windows always open without a toolbar and there are a variety of problems with these folders. When I scroll or open a subfolder that folder doesn't refresh or gets all fragmented (visually) like there are thirty little copies of the folder on top of each other. If I close the window or change the view it corrects itself. Also if I navigate to said folders in a program (InDesign) it sometimes crashes the program.
Our network has not changed in anyway, the only new thing in our office is that a few computers started using Leopard.
Our network is using xinet, appletalk, various Dell servers running NT.
Any guesses what is going on?

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, move these files to the Desktop.

Finder window does not refresh under yosemite

I have a weird effect on my rMBP with the latest Yosemite:
Very often (not always) when I save a file from an application an open Finder window to the save location does not refresh. The new file is not shown! I can go in with Terminal and everything is fine, the file is there. I can edit its contents (eg. with vi or pico) and I can rename the file. However the Finder still does not show it. Not even closing and re-opening the folder help. The only way I found is to create a new folder and immediately delete it. That forces the Finder to update the window. It looks as if the Finder does not get *some* update events.
I do have XtraFinder installed, but deinstalled it and even after a reboot nothing changed, Finder still does not refresh its display. I cannot tell exactly when this started, but incidentally I run an update some days ago and installed Server 4.0.3 and upates to the latest Pages/Keynote/Numbers (however I do not use those, I am still and will stay with iWork'09).
I use Server on a MBP with dynamic address because I needed virtual domains for local testing, nothing really "serverish". It just provides a nice GUI for easy setting-up of virtual domains.
Any ideas? What can I do?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Usual windows 7 opening and closing of windows are not working with my updated Firefox 16.0.1

My Windows 7 automatically updated recently and so did Firefox. Now, with all other Windows applications including Internet Explorer, I can open a new window by right-clicking on the icon in the taskbar (showing there because the application is open), and when I right click, it gives me the option to close all windows. With Firefox, this also used to be the case, but since the update, when I right -click on the open Firefox in the taskbar, nothing happens. And when I tried to "pin" Firefox to the taskbar, even then, I cannot close all open windows just by right-clicking, and it is a longer procedure to open a new Firefox window. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated....

When accessing my webmail hosted by Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access software the list of Inbox emails is not complete when viewed with Firefox but it is when viewed with IE.....any suggestions why?

My finder window is not refreshing after a file is deleted

I open up a new finder window so that I can sort through and delete items from the desktop. After I delete a file, the images displayed in the top of the window no longer match the items that are left.

Might be Finder preferences are corrupted ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.finder.plist file to the Trash
See if that made a difference.

I can only open up one window with multiple tabs; right click "open in a new window" does not work. I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled Firefox with same results.

Just bought a new i5 laptop and am transferring files, etc onto new box. Last night I had two separate Firefox windows up. I downloaded Nexus Ultimate late and rebooted this morning. I had to restart Firefox then, and it did not save my settings/tabs as I prompted it to do when it shut down to reboot.
I uninstalled Nexus and wasted many hours trying to resolve this, including two failed system restores (looks like Nexus is a dirty little bugger) Windows Explorer will open up multiple windows. Firefox will not. Help.

Once open, Firefox locks the Profile that is in use and you can not open another window with that Firefox version and Profile combination using the Windows Desktop icon or the Windows Programs list.

I have a dual-boot system on my laptop (windows/linux). Firefox opens on windows but not on linux (on linux firefox 'times out'). Why? and how do i fix this?

Finder window doesn't refresh

Dear all,
When I login into a Windows Server 2003, Mac OS X (and for that matter Mac OS 9) Finder windows do not refresh as fast as we would like them to. It takes me about 10 minutes or more. I have to close out of, or collapse if in List view, the window, and reopen it to force a redraw.

Display of Visual Studio not refreshing?

I just downloaded and installed Visual Studio 2013 Professional (for free as a student from dreamspark.com). I tried starting it through the first time through Unity, and the first login window did not refresh properly after I logged in. I was able
to navigate pact it, by dragging the window back and forth across my two monitors to force the contents to refresh.
When I open VS2013 from Unity or on its own, it doesn't show all of the window's contents. It is as if it is not refreshing the view. I can force it to refresh parts of the window by resizing it, etc, but with this behavior, it is unusable. Has anyone encountered
a problem like this, or have an idea for a fix?

Master Password Feature: After sometime (10-15 min.) the drop down list for the field on any site does not show; opening new window (not refresh or new tab) drop down appears.?

I manage a ton of accounts for different customers suing the same login pages (GoDaddy, WordPress, etc.) I use the Master Password Feature to help keep track of the many variants in logins and passwords.
After some unknown period of time, even closing the page tab so a new page session is started at the remote server, Firefox does not provide me with the usual drop-down selection list of the previously used login names. However, if I open a new FF window (file/new window) from the menu bar, the drop down becomes available.
How can I refresh the original window session in FF or change the timeout length?

Well, you said LOV...that might mean you are using JDev 11g. Are you? If so what technology stack are you using?
Assuming you are using JSF (?) you might be "backing" your list component in the application scope...but that is not likely.
If you are using ADF/BC on your business component level, you can clear your view object from which you are querying the possible values of this list...unless your you have made a method to compile this list...in which case you know what you are doing...so that is probably not the case.
Essentially you want to requery the VO upon which your LOV is based...unless you are using JPA or something...and then I know "requery" is not the right word...is it?

Mail won't display the viewer window, and it will not close (force quit does not show in menu bar). Can't shut down to reboot because the open mail program prevents it. Any advice?

Mail does not show the viewer window even when new viewer window is cliced. I tried to close mail and reopen, but it will not close, and force quit option does not appear in window bar. I tried to shut down the computer and reboot, but it cannot close because of open mail program it says. Help!

View Objects in the shared application module is not refreshing

I have view objects defined shared apps module. This view objects are used for creating lovs which won't change very frequently. I have set the AutoRefresh=true for this view objects. I do have a UI to update the underline table for these lovs. The view objects defined in the shared application module is not getting reflected even I add a new value in the database. Is there any way to refresh these lovs as soon as its added to db?

I will explain my scenario ;
I have a view object(ViewA) where I have defined many LOVs for different attributes. Thes LOVs are using the shared application module's view object (shared_view1,shared_view2...etc) as List DataSource. Where exactly I need to set the auto refresh property=true. Currently I have set all of my shared apps view objects's(shared_view1,shared_view2...etc) autorefresh property=true.Do I need to use the autorefresh =true in the ViewA ?
What is the concept of autorefresh=true ? Wiill it refresh automatically the view object nexttime i am accessing the page after the db inserts ? Is there any time delay there ? if there is it something configurable ?

Mouse wheel stops scrolling page, and sometimes refresh does not refresh the correct tab, but the first one in the window.

I have 27 firefox windows open with a grand total of 141 tabs.
Some times the input is directed to the wrong window. I will click refresh and it will refresh the first tab in a window, but not the tab I am on. Apparently this also happens when I try and use the mouse wheel or the up and down arrow to scroll a page.
Some times it works correctly on 1 window, but when I switch to another scrolling stops working.
Usually rebooting the computer helps, but I should not have to do that.

I am not able to view the default view of FF 4.0, It is showing menu bar with the windows border. When i turn off menu bar, the strip which should be present above the tabs goes missing.

I have recently downloaded FF 4.0 and using a lot of add-ons. I am not able to view the default view of FF 4.0 with no menu bar. Even after turning off the menu bar from customization, I am able to see only the tabs and FF button, but not the strip over the tabs.

When you hide the menu bar to display the Firefox button, the titlebar (strip above the tabs) is only displayed if the Firefox window is not maximized. If you always want the Window titlebar, you can use the Firefox 4 UI Fixer extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/firefox-4-ui-fixer
