  • Sql Plus Help! (the window remain open)

    I'm currently using sql plus to export data from oracle to text with spool command, in this way:
    sqlplus user/[email protected] @F:\pathtosql\query.sql (this line is in a bat file)
    where the file query.sql contain the spool comand
    spool F:\textfile.txt;
    set head on;
    set pagesize 0;
    set linesize 512;
    set trimspool on;
    set feedback off;
    set termout off;
    select field1, field2, ..., fieldn
    from table;
    spool off;
    exit;
    mi problem is when I run .bat (contining the sqlplus command) and for some reason the source database is not available the windows remain open requesting for a logon information, I want the windows close if are connection problem
    Can I do that with sqlplus
    Thanx

    Specify the -L command line option to SQL*Plus, i.e.:
    sqlplus -L username/password@db @blah.sql
    (this will prevent the second prompt for username/password if the initial login is unsuccessful for any reason, like an invalid password).

  • When I download something from the Web, the "Downloads" window opens, but the window remains blank. Before it used to at least show the name of the file and I could open the file from the "Downloads" window. Is there a way to get this functionality back?

    I'm running Windows XP which is updated to latest version (which I think might be Service Pack 3, but not positive.) Mozilla Firefox is version 5.0. I tend to use Google as my search engine so most of the stuff I download comes through sites found through Google, which is also updated.
    At some time in the past (maybe a few versions ago) when I would download a file from the Web, the "Downloads" window would open and in the window would be displayed the name of the file I was downloading or had just completed downloading. I think I used to be able to then click on that file name and the file (or the installation file if needed to start the new program) would open. I am currently using Firefox 5.0 (the "About Firefox" screen says this is up to date) and when I download a file or document, the "Downloads" window appears on the screen as it always has in the past, but it remains blank, i.e., nothing appears in the downloads box. I don't remember making any configuration changes, etc., that may have caused the window to remain blank, but I could be mistaken. I know how to find the items I've downloaded (My Documents / Downloads) and can usually guess what the name of the downloaded file might be, but it used to be much easier when something (anything) showed up in the downloads window.
    I'd love for someone to tell me about a simple fix for this. I'm willing to be quite embarrassed that I did something I shouldn't have.'''

    In Firefox Options / Privacy be sure "Remember download history" is checked. To see all of the options on that panel, "Firefox will" must be set to "Use custom settings for history".
    To find your OS information, on your Windows desktop, right-click the My Computer icon, choose Properties, under System on that small window is info about your OS.

    Hello! I use Photoshop CS3 and Yosemite. Recently, after logging info information into the FILE INFO panel, I am unable to close out the window. I am able to save & close out the image, but then I have to completely close Photoshop and re-open the program to work on a new image. Frustrating! Any help to remedy this problem? Many thanks!

    Try resetting the Photoshop preference file: Press and hold Cmd+Opt+Shift and start Photoshop. Select "yes" when asked if you would like to continue with reset.

  • When booting the screen remains white with a flashing globe. What is this?

    I am a new Mac user and the last two days I have seen this happen when I boot. What is the computer doing?

    To fix it when the machine does boot navigate to System Preferences - Startup Disk and select the internal HD so it's highlighted then restart the machine.

  • Photoshop CS6 - not responding and most of the window is white

    Every time I start PSCS6 I get that. No idea why. It gets like that and it's not responding. Please help

    Something is interfering with UI drawing.
    That could be a driver (like your video card driver), or some utility on your system.

  • While watching streaming video content, Youtube for example, and I click on the fullscreen button, the screen goes white.

    The video plays fine but when I try to watch full screen, the whole screen goes white. The right-click menu comes up and I am able to chose one of the options but the corresponding window does not appear the screen remains white. If I click on the screen the video stops and starts (I can tell by the sound). The escape keys returns the video to the normal size within the browser page and the window for the option I chose from the right-click drop down menu appears over the video.

    Flash and other of your plug-ins look a bit dated, please review [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting%20plugins#w_updating-or-re-installing-your-plugins Updating or re-installing your plugins], perform a plug-in check and update as needed.
    See if the problem still occurs with the latest Flash version.

  • When a website launches a new window to enter information, Firefox no longer automatically closes the window when you click the submit button. Why?

    For example, when I create a message in my autoresponder service and want to attach an image a new window opens up so I can enter the details of the image (url, position, alt text). When I click the Save button, the information is captured but the window remains open and I have to manually close it.
    Firefox used to close the window automatically.

    YES!! Thank you jscher2000! You sir are a legend. Thanks for this, changed the newtaburl in about:config, totally worked. Nope, never saw it happening! Speedy machine this one :P Yep, that change completely sorted the issue, just opened about 741 new tabs through the shortcut on my mouse just to celebrate. Thanks guys who helped, no thanks those who didn't.

  • I am having an increasing problem loading almost any page or site on my Macbook pro. When I click on a page or site, it doesn't load, or I have to click on reload page numerous times. Otherwise, screen remains white.

    Has anyone encountered the problem with the Pro not being able to load almost any page or site? This has been a situation growing worse by the week. I have to click on the reload page numerous times for me to access sites or pages (from news outlets, entertainment mags, etc.) Under the address bar, the screen remains white.

    Hi Linc....I have been using Safari. SHould I try Firefox? Version 10.5.8 is what I have which I believe is up to date? This is incredibly frustrating. Only thing it seems to load quickly and without trouble is my home page (NY Times). Any thoughts?

  • Ipod nano the screen stays white

    My ipos non is turning on and working but I cannot see anything, The screen remains white. It was working firn till yestarday, then I charged it and not it's all white. Any idea what is goign on and how I can solve the problem? Many thanks

    You can work through the five 5 R's of troubleshooting to rule out the possibility of corrupted software.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
    It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
    Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
    Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity.  A third party service will actually replace the damaged part for a little less.  Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

  • My macbook pro 15'' 2012 screen remained white and flickering with some colours when i started it. . Please advice

    Macbook Pro, 15'' 8gb
    I started my Mac today and the screen remained white, flickering lights with some colours. I have never had a problem with my macbook and never got any warnings that there could be a problem with my screen. Kindly advice. I do not know my serial number as i can't get any info on my laptop.
    Kindly advice,
    Thank you

    If the issue continues, the information detailed below can help restore functionality to your Mac's display.
    If you're using an Apple notebook, confirm the AC power cable or adapter is securely connected to the computer and the cable providing power to the display is also secure. It is always good to have your notebook connected to AC power when an external display is in use.
    Confirm display adapters are fully seated in their respective connections and that they are supported models and for the computer and display. Refer to these articles to assist you with adapter compatibility and further configuration information:

    Remove all display cable extenders, KVM switches, or other like devices and retest to determine if the issue is resolved.
    Try unplugging the video adapter or cable and then plug it back in.
    If more than one video adapter is in use (or "daisy-chained"), troubleshoot by using only one adapter.
    Example: A mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter connected to a DVI to HDMI adapter is an unsupported configuration because there is a series of adapters in use.
    If available, try using a different display and or adapter (or use a different connector by using DVI instead of VGA, for instance).

  • I am trying to install bootcamp with windows xp professional on my macbook core duo. This is my first mac and i just purchased it. The disk will partition but when i try to start the installer a white screen appears then a folder with a ? in it appears

    I just recently purchased this macbook. The optical drive was faulty, i opened it up and rubbed alcohol on the lens and that didnt work. I connected an old ide dvd rw drive in a 3.5 enclosure and it seems to work like a charm. I installed snow leopard with it so i know that it is in complete working order. I also upgraded the ram so that should not be an issue either. This is a first generation macbook 1.1 with the core duo processor. I just want to install my xp professional operating system onto this unit. I have the original xp professional disk with service pack 2, not a burned iso. When i try to launch the windows installer the dvd drive fires up and it seems like its attempting to launch windows then the screen goes from bright white to a folder with a question mark on it. From there nothing happens. Is there something i can do or that i am missing here?

    Your problem is not Boot Camp, in fact, is your optical drive. Win XP requires indeed sp2, but also the internal drive, does not work from external optical drive.
    For other possible tricks, please use the appropriate Boot Camp forum, not here. Mac OS X may be installed from both external and internal optical drive and/or internal/external partition of a disk, any disk. Windows is not so generous.

  • My screen remains white after the apple logo boot up and other questions?

    Does anyone know why this happens?
    After not using my Macbook Pro for awhile. whenever I'd start it up, it would boot normally (having the Bong sound and the Apple logo appear), but after that happens, the screen would remain white. I have to do a manual reset of the system during this to make it work and have the desktop appear.
    HOWEVER, when I do this, I notice it has taken me several more minutes in having the icons at the desktop (and dock) appear, like it has gotten slower. I've also noticed that my mouse would always appear at the upper left hand side of the screen, which is slightly making me worried.
    Also, when I connected two external hardrives, my screen suddenly turned blue (dark blue, not light blue). itunes was playing music when this happened and even with the blue screen, music was still playing from my Macbook Pro. Again, I had to perform a manual reset for it to work again. Does anyone have the same problem?
    It seems that my Macbook is sprouting problems one after the other.
    I'm not really familiar with computer parts, so if anyone can give me insight to any of my questions, it'd be greatly appreciated.

    Locate your original install disk (it's grey) and use it to restart your iMac by holding the "C" key during startup. Use the disk utility to repair your harddrive.
