The Windows Live Help Website Constantly Refreshes In Firefox

Hello,
I would like to report a strange problem that I am having with the Windows Live Help website when using Firefox, I did not have this problem until recently, the website was working fine in older versions of Firefox and Firefox 8.
I was using Firefox 8 without any problems with the website but recently the website started constantly refreshing trying to Read Support.Microsoft.com and WindowsLiveHelp.com, making the page un-useable.
I tried running Firefox in Safe Mode, but that did not work.
I updated Firefox to 8.01, but that did not work.
I updated to Firefox 9, but that did not work.
I uninstalled Firefox and installed it, but that did not work.
I ran CCleaner, but that did not work.
Most or all of my software is up-to-date, and my computer is malware free according to AVG Free, Emsisoft Anti-Malware Free, Hitman Pro Free, and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free.
I am guessing that something changed with the website itself maybe, but the Microsoft Team suggest that I post this issue here.
My Post there is here:
http://windowslivehelp.com/thread.aspx?postid=7825ED88-D166-4E6A-9AB9-74CCD80B2765#7825ED88-D166-4E6A-9AB9-74CCD80B2765
A similar problem happened in Windows Live Mail (Web) after Microsoft did an update, but after a day the problem stopped, and several days later a similar and worse problem is now happening with their Windows Live Help website with Firefox; but this problem is not happening in IE9.
I have Firefox set to clear all temporary data when it exits and I am using Norton DNS.
Thanks,
-John Jr :)

That is a problem with a script on that page that tries to go to a non-existing uppercase anchor (the lowercase version is there) and keeps retrying that.

    Hi,
Try installing Windows 2012 Live Essentials here.
You will have to set up your Pop 3 or IMAP email account after installing the updated version per above.
Are you using an Internet Service Provider Email  account or a cloud based (IMAP) Email account?
Pop 3 accounts will require incoming and outgoing server addresses and any additional security settings required by your ISP. If you don't have the required settings for Pop 3 you will have to contact your ISP for those.

  • Everytime I go to get into Firefox the Windows Live Sign in comes up.This has been happening since I installed Windows 7 and it won't remember sign in details. How can I get rid of Windows Live sign in??

I am currently using Windows 7 and when I go to try and get Fire fox up a running the Window Live Sig in site comes up. This never happened when I was using Vista.
The Windows Live sign in site will not remember the sign in details.
I use My MSN/Sympatico home page as my default site

    * Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
    * Create an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep such a cookie, especially for secure websites and if cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
    * In [[Private Browsing]] mode all cookies are session cookies that expire if that session is ended, so websites won't remember you.
    * Do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"
Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and password exceptions.

  • Flickering TAB bar on Windows Live Help

The tab bar keeps flickering and I can do nothing on the page

No, it's not an option on the customize window. This is the plus sign that appears like a partial tab to the right of the last open tab. I did discover a "work around" - if I double click anywhere parallel and to the right of the last open tab, it will open a new tab! I still miss that that plus sign, though.

Sorry, but this does not seem to be an iPad question. I'd therefore suggest you ask in the iTunes for Mac forum.
    Regards.

  • Windows Live Mail doesn't work in Firefox after recent updates to Windows 7. System Restore doesn't help.

Installed around 8 important Windows 7 updates over the past 3 days (so, nothing I could uninstall as they're security updates mainly). Since then, Windows Live Mail doesn't respond in Firefox. Did 2 System Restores and downloaded Live Essentials again but nothing works.

Did you try to clear the cookies as well?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

  • Is there a Mac equivalent of the Windows Live Mail client?

(If anyone reading isn't familiar with Windows Live Mail, please look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WindowsLiveMail to see what I mean. Please don't suggest clients like Microsoft Entourage etc as they're not what I'm looking for!)
I used to have a Windows laptop and used the Windows Live Mail client to manage my Hotmail accounts. It was brilliant as it synchronised exactly with webmail (all folders present and correct, if I deleted an email on the webmail it would delete from the programme and vice versa, etc) and did this with as many email accounts as I liked - so I could access all three from the same screen. Perfect!
When I got a Macbook I discovered that Windows Live Mail wasn't available for Mac. I spent a couple of weeks looking for a suitable alternative but never found one.
I'm aware of how to use Hotmail in a regular mail client but I've not found one exactly the same as Windows Live Mail. There's always a problem with synchronisation between the client and webmail, I can only get the inboxes imported and no other folders synchronise which is a pain as I don't always use my laptop to read my email - if I read it elsewhere using webmail and move an email from the inbox to another folder, I'd have to do a second time when I next use my laptop. Hence I don't bother and just use webmail instead - but I hate logging in and out of three accounts!
As it's been ages since I last looked, I thought I'd look again - but I still can't find anything that works the way I want.
Is there a Mac equivalent of Windows Live Mail (http://download.live.com/wlmail)? Something that works in exactly the same way? I wish Windows weren't so childish and would just release a version of this for Mac... it's pretty much the only thing I miss from my old laptop!
(Please don't suggest changing email accounts - I've asked this elsewhere and that was the only response I got!)

In few words, "No." There is no such client for the Mac. The closest you may find would be to try the Mac MSN client, aMSN - VersionTracker or MacUpdate - but it's essentially just a messenger clone. I doubt it includes a Live Mail client.
(Please don't suggest changing email accounts - I've asked this question elsewhere and that was the only response I got!)
Because there is no other response.

  • Why doesn't Firefox recognize the Windows Live Mail login page as such and offer to remember the password?

For most other sites' login pages, Firefox recognizes that they are login pages and offers to remember my password. For the Windows Live Mail login page it does not.

That log in page is created via JavaScript and the Password Manager doesn't work in that case.
You can see that if you inspect the page source.
*Firefox > Web Developer > Page Source
*Tools > Web Developer > Page Source (Ctrl+U)
*Right-click on a web page to open the right-click context menu and select Page Source

  • How do I change the font on incoming email in Windows Live--it is too small in Firefox

I can change fonts in outgoing emails, and on website screens, but the incoming emails in Hotmail and Windows Live it is way too small to read. It is fine in Gmail. Can you tell me how to change this to a readable font. Using the Tools option does not work.

  • Support for the Windows Live Essentials Suite

    Hi,
I use the new Windows Live Essentials Suite to store my Contacts, write and receive Emails or to vie the calender. Is there any chance to get these Apps supported in a new iTunes release so that I can sync all of this information with my iPod Touch ?
    Best Regards,
    swiffer

It would be up to Microsoft do make an App. If Microsoft enabled exchange support like Google Sync , or Nuevasync, you could do it as the iPhone/iPod touch supports Exchange.

  • Why doesn't the Windows Live Messenger sounds work when the app is closed?

I just got my iPod for Christmas and I downloaded Windows Live Messenger. I read the blurb about it and it said it will notify/alert me that I got an IM (Instant Message). I recieved one, not knowing until an hour later when I re-opened the app and THEN found out I got one. Can anyone tell me how to fix it?

There are other Mac/iphone/facebook type questions on here that are answered and the answers work.  So I assume eventually this one will too. People having issues with facebook compatibility and Safari for example.

  • I cannot save any changes made in the Preferences box. I go to Edit, then Preferences. When the window opens, I can check or uncheck boxes in the General window BUT, there are no Cancel or OK buttons at the bottom of the window. HELP!!

There are no "Cancel" or "OK" buttons at the botton of my "Preferences" box that allow me save any changes that I might mak in the "General" window.  The box opens without problem and changes can be made in the "General" window however, these changes cannot be saved.  If I close the window with the "X" in the upper right hand corner and then reopen it, any changes made are lost.  I'm running Windows XP and would appreciate any help that I can get.

I would like to change the "When you insert a CD:" option
Oh good, that one's pretty straightforward. When you make that change in the pane, the OK is the active button. For example, I just quickly changed mine to "Import CD and Eject", and you can see that the OK button is blue in my screenshot:
... so to make that setting stick, all you need to do is to hit your "Enter" key, and that should press the OK.
Unfortunately, I don't have any music in the iTunes library on the PC I'm working from at the moment. So I can't check my "Automatically download album artwork" checkbox.
Ed, could you check for us which item is active after changing that setting? (If it's the OK button, then hitting enter should press the invisible button, just like "When you insert a CD".)
Changing "Import Settings" is trickier, because after you get out of the "Import Settings" subdialog, the "Import Settings" button is active. So you then have to hit the tab key precisely five times (to get OK active again) and then hit Enter to get Import Settings changes to stick.

  • Expensive black brick will fly out the window!HELP

My iPhone 4 died today. I was out for a walk had the phone in my pocket ,received e-mail ,managed to read it ,put the phone back in my pocket ,came home, tried to check my games ,surprise ! The phone had a black screen ,thought it ran out of battery so put it out to charge .15 minutes later ,nothing! no apple icon no charging icon no sounds nothing!
So the last 6 hours i've been  trying rebooting, resetting, restoring, cursing and getting more annoyed every minute.
    Things i tried so far:
-plugging into charger        No apple ,no battery icon
    - reset with home and lock buttons       Does nothing
-plugging in a laptop running vista (on wich it worked for 3 months now) into itunes it was the first sign of life  because it told me it found an iphone in need of restoring and at the same time that i need to update to software version 4.3.3. I asked it to do the restore and update and after a while it gave me an error code 1601 ... 11 times in a row on 2 different computers. And the iphone was recognized as a device every single time it was plugged.
The whole time i havent seen a single glimpse of light from the iphone same way as if it was totally turned off.
    - tried uninstalling itunes and everything else related to itunes(bonjour, apple mobile device, safari, quicktime and a few others) and then reinstalling everything again (so latest version itunes 10.2.2) and doing restore again.       No luck.
-tried renaming the apple folder under user/app data and plugging the iphone back into itunes. It behaved like the itunes had never been on this computer but still gave me an 1601 and still no signs of life from my expensive black brick.
As details i can add that it has never been jailbroken, there are no modifications of any kind made to it and everything i tried so far still did absolutely nothing.
And because apple doesnt give more detailed or case by case troubleshooters i hope that someone here, maybe even from apple could help me.
Please assist with some constructive answers or suggestions  -  in order to avoid the expensive black brick from flying out the window.
    Thank you.
