Theatrical Trailers

Since May 12 I have been unable to access several different movie trailers in the store. Not all, only a few. In fact, even one of the studios has been unavailable too. When I try to get the new Inception and Rush trailers I get the "Could not complete request the iTunes store may be busy. Check internet connection..." message but I have downloaded other trailers and apps. What's happening?
Also, on a side note how come some of the HD trailers do NOT play on the iPad? They (Tron and Super 8 for example) have a profile of at least 3.2 when the iPad demands 3.1 and below to work? I have to download multiple copies (SD & HD) in order to get one on my iPad.

Apple Remote - Theatrical Trailers??

I use both a white Apple Remote and a new aluminum Apple Remote with my MacBook Pro-13". It is easy to change the battery on the Aluminum Remote; and with a paperclip one opens the white one and it's the same Battery - OK BUT...
...I now see "Theatrical Trailers" as a choice when I choose MOVIES. Is this something that comes via the www to Front Row? How to get these Theatrical Trailers when I am not using Front Row (i.e. via iTunes or only via Apple's web site?)

I'm on 10.6.6 iTunes 10.1.1 also. When I select "iTunes Store" of the left sidebar and the "movies" tab at the top, I see a "Movies quick links" on the right sidebar at the top above "Top Charts". The 7th entry down the links is "Theatrical Trailers".

Edit: These links look like they download rather than stream. You can pick any of the movies and click the "view trailer" and have them stream though.

Can longer view Theatrical Trailers after upgrading to FR 1.3

Got a new Mac Mini and was playing with FR and everything was fine. Ran the software update utility, which installed an upgrade to FR, but now all the theatrical trailers just hang with a black screen. I can see the movie jackets, but no matter which one I pick, I just get a black screen and no streaming.

OK, I also had a problem playing an iTunes TV show and iTunes told me to update Quicktime. I guess the last upgrade didn't upgrade to the latest version. After running software update again, the trailers play once more.

Front Row Theatrical Trailers Icons Blank

Hi,
I currently have all the latest released updates (itunes 7, qt update, front row update, etc) released september 12. Everything functions correctly except the preview icons for theatrical trailers.
Prior to todays updates I would see a picture of a DVD cover as the artwork for a trailer. Now I see a rectangle with the QuickTime symbol and a question mark below. The titles of the trailers still show when I move from box to box and the previews start loading normally.
I tried removing my front row property list and the front row cache. I also created a new user and had no luck with that account. I've restarted my machine, disconnected all devices (macbook black) and tried repairing permissions. No luck.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Update: I've just installed again QT 7.1.3 using
Software Update and now the trailers thumbnails look
fine.
I suspect the cause of this problem to be the fact
that I upgraded to 7.1.3 using the QT installer from
apple.com, not the Software Update.
Mine has the problem and I used Software Update first. I tried installing again with no luck.
Where can you get the downgrade to 7.0.1? I may try that.

Unable to download Theatrical Trailers.

I just upgraded to iTunes 10.5.1.42. I can download the free songs and videos and I can purchase and download albums.
I am not able to download Theatrical Trailers from the store. The last time I did this was 10/06/11 and I hadn't logged in since then until today.
Anyone else having this issue or know of a fix?

I should also mention that if I go to trailers.apple.com and select a movie trailer then download it just launches iTunes as expected and still cannot download via a click.
However, if I select the trailer and drag and drop it to my movie folder it seems to go to my account without the proper details to identify the trailer.

Why Can't I View Theatrical Trailers?

I have an Apple TV connected via Ethernet to my home network. Everything seems to work fine, with the exception of Theatrical Trailers. When I select that category, I see all the trailers listed along with the movie posters. But when I select a specific movie trailer, the screen goes black for about 15 seconds and I then get the message: "No Content Was Found."
As I say, everything else works fine, including the trailers under the category "Top iTunes Movies." I get the same result whether I'm in the top level Apple TV menu, or on a menu when the Apple TV is linked to my synched computer.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Actually you can, but it's a bit tricky.
If you take the URL from the 720p trailer and change '720' to '1080' it works.
Here's the URL to the trailer for Elysium:
http://trailers.apple.com/movies/sony/elysium/elysium-tlr1_720p.mov
Changing 720 to 1080 gives you this link to the FullHD trailer:
http://trailers.apple.com/movies/sony/elysium/elysium-tlr1_1080p.mov
By changing that, you will be able to download the 1080p trailer.

Apple TV 2 TERRIBLY slow in streaming Theatrical Trailers

I've owned an Apple TV for 4 years now, and today I upgraded to the new Apple TV 2. I expected the same functionality and, despite of its light weight platform, similar performance.
I'm sorry to say that the Theatrical Trailers functionality is totally useless as it is right now. On my iMac and older Apple TV the playback starts nearly instantly. However, the Apple TV 2 waits annoyingly long before actually starting playback. Even when the progress bar shows that it has buffered for over half a minute or even a full minute of playable content, it just doesn't start playing!
The download speed of my connection is 6mbit, as advertised by my ISP, and the buffering speed is NOT the problem. It's just that the player waits for a lot of data before it decides to start playback. Why? The old ATV doesn't wait and just starts playing after a little buffering, without any hickups. It doesn't make sense to buffer so much.
It's annoying, to say the least, and I'm quite disappointed by the ATV2. My 4 years old ATV is much more responsive in trailer playback.

I'm going to add my comments here. I have the EXACT same problem with the new AppleTV. The very first week I had it, the AppleTV2 would stream trailers, YouTube and movies just fine. I remember downloading a free Fawlty Towers interview with John Cleese, and it played right away. A few months later, I tried the same thing, and it says it will take more than 2 hours to play the 30min video.
I have an LG blu-ray player with YouTube, a AppleTV and my Panasonic plasma with YouTube. All three are wired directly into my DSL modem/router using ethernet cables. I usually get 5Mb downloads on the speed test on my iMac. When I go to a HD YouTube video on the Panasonic HDTV or the LG blu-ray player, the video starts immediately, and plays in full HD with no hiccups or pauses. When I play the EXACT SAME YouTube video on my AppleTV2, I have to wait for a time LONGER than the actual video for it to start playing. SD videos start sooner, but they are still very slow.
It isn't the network, because the very same video will play fine on my iMac over WiFi. And just so you won't question the wifi either, I have also turned off the wifi router (Airport Extreme N), unplugged it, turned off all WiFi devices, and used only wired ethernet for the test. I also tested it with a single device at a time plugged into my DSL modem (vs. all devices plugged in).
Nope, its CLEARLY the Apple TV 2 that's slow. My kids want to see trailers, and they are impossible to see, and youtube is almost as useless. The AppleTV does stream HD from my iMac perfectly fine, but anything from the internet is useless.

Front Row won't play Theatrical Trailers

When I try to play a theatrical trailer in Front Row on my iMac, I get the following error:
+The selected video could not be played. The format was not recognized.+
Only a few days ago it was working - can anyone help fix this?

Same here. Some work, some don't. Sometimes they work, sometimes not. I have a brand new iMac at work with SnowLeopard, while at home I have a slightly older iMac running Leopard. Last night I tried accessing some trailers at home and some worked, while the one next to it would not. Same thing also on Apple TV. It is infuriating and baffling. It is one of the nice things about Apple TV to be able to browse the trailers... but if they don't work it renders the thing useless.

Theatrical Trailers no longer showing up

Hello all,
Just got back from vacation and fired up iTunes to get updated apps and such. I opened the Trailers page and saw posters across the top, but nothing in the two panes below. Anyone else seeing this same behavior?
iTunes 10.6.3
I've tried restarting the app several times with the same result.
Any helpful suggestions?

The problem is because you're linking to Adobe Labs for SpryURLUtils.js:

Adobe announced a couple of weeks ago that it was no longer investing in the development of Spry (see
http://blogs.adobe.com/dreamweaver/2012/08/update-on-adobe-spry-framework-availability.htm l). As a consequence, the files are no longer available on Adobe Labs.
You need to download the Spry files from GitHub. Copy SpryURLUtils.js into your local site, and link to the local version rather than the one on Adobe Labs.

Where did the Theatrical Trailers go on the Movie Page?????

I've always downloaded lots of trailers for upcoming movies, but have been out of town for two weeks and haven't been on iTunes since, so when I get on there today and start looking for new trailers the link has disappeared. Does anyone know where to find them now???????

Front Row theatrical trailers not connected to internet?

This was working fine out of the box. It seems that after a couple system/soft updates ie. quicktime, iTunes, etc. it will no longer allow movie trailers... 'not connected to the internet'.
My network connections have not changed. I use a cable connect. Airport is turned off; as is Bluetooth.
In other words, my internet connection has not changed and is functioning properly, otherwise I wouldn't be typing this question.
I cannot seem to locate Front Row prefs. Quicktime prefs: Streaming speed on Auto., Instant on.
Not terribly important, but annoying.

If you use the Accounts System Preferences to create a new user, log out and log in as the new user, can they access the trailers? If not, then you have some kind of system-wide problem. If they can, then your user has some kind of preference/setting issue.

How to get to Movie Trailers from Canadian iTunes store?

It's been a while since I logged in to the iTunes store to watch a movie trailer, so at first (after searching all over the "home" page) when I couldn't find the link anymore, I assumed that maybe they had removed Theatrical trailers from the store all together. But, when I went to the Quicktime site, there is a link to High-Def trailers for the iTunes store!
Anyway, after scrounging around a bit, it seems that in the U.S., because there is a "Movies" link on the home page, which then leads to a "Theatrical Trailers" link, it is possible to get to the trailers. In the Canadian version, there is no "Movies" link, and no way of getting to the trailers (besides logging out of your account, switching countries, etc. etc.)
Am I missing something or is this a mistake?
Any help would be appreciated - maybe there is an obvious link I am missing.

No More MOVIE TRAILERS after iLife11

Just after upgrading to iLife11 the gorgeous feature Theatrical Trailers in FR has gone!! When I select the voice on menu just below the new item MZRs....a loading idle informing that the movie trailer are loading start but nothing happen. It's a big bug and I hope somebody can give me any hints until Apple release the patch.

It's not iLife 11. I have a mix of Macs, and they're all showing the same issue. It must be something to do with an update. Post your feedback with the Subject as "Front Row bug" in http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

Front Row not playing Trailers or Top 10 iTunes Movies

Hoping someone might be able to help me out with this weird problem I have had for a few months (since before Leopard, but it persists since updating to 10.5.1.)
My Front Row wont play the Theatrical Trailers or iTunes Top 10 movies previews.
It happily updates the list. But whenever I click on one I get:
"The Selected Video Could Not Be Played, The Format Was Not Recognised".
I have no problems playing TV Show previews, Music Videos and my own ripped movies.
I get the same results on my Apple TV and my 18 month old intel iMac.
Any ideas ? Much appreciated.

I'm having this same problem. The only solution I've found, scouring both the forum and internet, is to wait until it figures itself out, which is completely unacceptable. I recently updated my software and still no joy.

Download iTunes trailers won't play

Hi guys,
anyone else having trouble viewing downloaded iTunes Theatrical Trailers? They get the QuickTime icon on them and not the thumbnail, and when it comes to playback, they just show a black image.

Same problem. So far I've had playback problems with one of the Captain Phillips trailer (the one posted in August) and all of The Mortal Instruments. Happening on multiple computers. I think Apple will have to fix this one on their end. Wouldn't hurt to post which trailers were having this problem in case anyone who can fix it reads this thread.
