Theirs no point in upgrading to CC, CS6 vs CC

So, I have been using adobe products for many years and have purchased every adobe product from CS2 and lately I have been asking myself the question should I upgrade my CS6 to CC, and to be honest there is no way in hell that I will. To be frank I think updating for such little features is a waste of money and time, and not to mention the fact that I cannot just purchase the product for a one time fee like I always have.
The main products that I use are the following, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Fireworks, and Bridge. Of all the products I use photoshop has been my "go to" program for everything, and I have made a career out of it. I have searched the web for any possible features that I could find that may make me want to purchase the CC versions but there is literally none that I feel I could really use. For instance the new "perspective warp" feature in Photoshop it really isnt that big of a deal that they make it out to be. Any good design can use the normal tools in photoshop such as smart objects to get the result they desire, and i wont go into the fact that there is so many plugins out there to do anything you need or want that CC does already.
So why upgrade? Well honestly there is no reason to. I dont know why Adobe would switch to this CC crap when alot of us designers work for companies that handle classified information that the company doesnt want released to the public because they are working on a branding campaign, new app designs, websites and tons of other things. Adobe cannot rely on the fact that "oh we wont get hacked" because lets be honest even companies that have the greatest security out there have been hacked and all their users information stolen. My designs are not for everyone to see and my employer wouldnt want them to be stolen either. The CC updates of Adobe have put a distaste in my mouth for the product line because they arent offering their clients a whole lot of new features that really make people see the benefit of upgrading to CC. The amount of new era technologies that have been created you would really think that Adobe would capitalize on some of these new advances in the digital design world. For instance adding in things like iOS support, Android support PC and Mac support. Things like adding in the functionality where i can view prototypes of mobile apps that have function to them even on a very basic level would be incredible and since I am currently employed in  UI/UX design field things such as these would greatly benefit my interest in wanting to upgrade my CS6 to CC, but sadly no. Instead Adobe tries to wow me on the great amazing (not really) perspective warp, as if something any skilled designer couldnt already do.
Now im not saying that some people might disagree with my perspective on this and it is perfectly ok if you do not agree with my opinion on the subject. For myself personally Adobe really needs to step up their game if they dont want to lose their market to other companies that are emerging. Adobe I will say this I will never upgrade to CC there is no way in hell that I will for such minor features, and a forced monthly subscription which is pointless. In the "new features demo" it shows such minor changes to the new CC that really makes people not want to upgrade because alot of us see no point in upgrading to the same product except forced to pay a monthly subscription with internet requirements. Alot of designers are always on the move and noone wants to burn their data having to connect to the cloud or internet everytime they run an Adobe product.
I know im not the only one who feels this way, and I hope I get some agreement on the subject, all i have to say is
ADOBE STEP UP YOUR GAME, YOU HAVE LOST A LONG TIME CUSTOMER HERE.

I read this post on another forum by Harm Millaard:
I've been busy writing articles about hardware choices for editing with Premiere Pro, as you may have seen here: Tweakers Page
I hope it is a treasure cove for people looking for a new machine and doubting the suggestions they have been given, or want some background info on how to setup a balanced system for their editing needs.
I'm still on CS6, which was paid for in full before CC arrived and I see no reason yet to change to either Avid or Edius, since CS6 does what I need it for. Upgrading to CC makes no sense, since I'm only editing HD and have no need for XAVC or H.265 yet. Just staying on MC CS6, which I upgraded to for $ 480 and is a perpetual license, saved me around $ 450 in 11 months by not going the CC route. Monthly savings here are around $ 85 by NOT subscribing to CC. Those savings come in handy, when you need a good shoulder rig (Vocas) for the camera, XF300.
I think that sums it up nicely. But he will still have to hold that stance for another 10 months to break-even on that shoulder rig, according to my calculations. Then he will have it for free, compared to a CC subscription.

I have a mac, In"Design CS 5.5, a design gave me a file said it was CS 6, does not open in CS 5.5..Message says "Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions, or upgrade to the latest version of Adobe InDesign."  I think I need to buy upgrade from 5.5 to 6. I found one on NextTechDirect for $150 to download. they are not a scam according to "scamadvisor.com."
When I drag the InDesign file that that was supplied by another designer who said it was  CS 6 onto my desktop it says CS 5.5. Is that because I only have CS 5.5?
    Should I buy this
Adobe InDesign CS6 Upgrade from CS5.5 WIN/MAC [Download] from Next tech....it is obviosly higher on the adobe site and alot of other places?

No one is likely to recommend where you buy your software from other than Adobe in these forums... not so much because of support for Adobe, but mostly because of lack of support/knowledge of any third party vendors.  I only know from experience that when you invest in bargain pricing you usually get what you pay for.

  • Free Upgrade to Photoshop CS6 from CS5.5 upon release

I Purchased Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 production Premium (Student License) a month ago understanding that a free upgrade to Photoshop CS6 MAC. when available. How do I upgrade to CS6 now that it is released.

    I’m in the same boat.
I knew this would happen so I sent in a support ticket and got a case number on the 22nd. I was told that I do qualify for the cs6 upgrade but I would have to wait. So I did and guess what – nothing came.
I spent the better part of an hour in chat and while they have agreed there is an issue and have “escalated” my problem to the “offline team”, they are now away for Memorial Day and I won’t hear back until at least Tuesday.
All I wanted was a link to my promo code or an explanation – I didn’t get either and now the studio I've booked out sits vacant all weekend.
I cannot imagine letting a client twist in the wind without delivering their project or an explanation as to why an extension is needed – It’s unfathomable. If Adobe cannot stick to their deadline they need to change it or explain why BEFORE the deadline passes. A simple email would suffice and any adult with any business experience would agree that this just is common sense.
What will Adobe do now? I predict I’ll get a form letter apology ( that’s not worth near the $300 I lost this weekend )  and finally a link to my promo code. No mentions of compensations or added value for my trouble.
Enjoy your extended weekend kids – status quo starts back on Tuesday...

  • Will Mac CS2 upgrade to PC CS6?

Does CS2 qualify for upgrading to CS6? Also what if the CS2 version is Mac and I want to move to CS6 for PC?

Cross-platform upgrading works now for CS6 (meaning you can just buy the regular upgrade for a different platform than the one of the product you own), but regret to tell you that CS2 is too far back to qualify for discounted upgrade pricing to CS6...
CS3 and CS4 are the furthest back now that get lower upgrade pricing to CS6, and that's only until the end of the year...  Adobe is planning to change their "3-versions-back" upgrade policy to "1-major-version-back" policy starting in 2013.

  • Upgrading from ID CS6 to ID CC with templates

    Hi everyone,
I am going to be upgrading from InDesign CS6 to InDesign CC soon.  I have a lot of templates that I use and was hoping there will be no issues with them once I make the upgrade.  Has anyone had any issues with their templates after going from CS6 to CC?  Thanks!

There is no reason to uninstall CS5 unless you have no reason to keep it.  Below is a link to a page that shows the various subscription plans available.  There is one that is a special rate for Photoshop and Lightroom.  I do not think CS5 qualifies you for a further discount on that package, but there is a special rate for another package if you are a CS owner.

  • I just upgraded to Photoshop cs6 so that my new camera (Nikon D7100) would work in Camera Raw.  However, it will not download from the  "Update" option in CS6.

I just upgraded to Photoshop cs6 so that my new camera (Nikon D7100) would work in Camera Raw  (I was told that the Camera Raw update 8.3, which is available for CS6, included this camera).  However, it will not download from the  "Update" option in CS6.  I have tried over 10 times - it just says update is not working. and I cannot find an alternate way of downloading this file. So I still can use my camera, even thought I paid to upgrade.  HELP please.

What OS do you have?  You say you have explained what you had (computer/opsys) but I honestly don't see it here.  If you had mentioned that my advice would have been different; I believe you can only upgrade as far as Camera Raw 8.3 on an older Windows system.  There is more information here (look specifically for the "Revert to 8.3 ..." titles).
Adobe Camera Raw Help | Camera Raw/DNG Converter 8.4 on Mac OS 10.6, Windows XP, and Vista
What you've done/written in your last post confuses things further, unfortunately.  Photoshop 13.1 is strictly a Creative Cloud version.  The highest you can go is Photoshop CS6 13.0.1.3 with perpetual license.
And as far as I can recall, that version can work on Windows back to XP:
    System requirements | Photoshop
I don't think you're out of luck, but you seem to be leaping into doing things without having the full story, and are jumping to conclusions a bit too quickly.
Here's what I suggest you try:
    1.  Remove Photoshop entirely with the Creative Suite Removal Tool:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
    2.  Install Photoshop CS6 from your original media or from here:
    Download CS6 products
    3.  Update the application using its own Help - Updates process.  That really should get you the latest Camera Raw version that will work.  If that does not bring you a Camera Raw that works with your Nikon, use the "Revert to 8.3" instructions above.

  • FAQ: If I buy Photoshop CS5 now, will I get a free upgrade when Photoshop CS6 comes out?

    The following document explains:
Upgrade policy after new product announcement
Because Adobe hasn't officially announced official CS6 pricing and availability dates yet, your best bet is to wait until there is an official announcement on pricing and availability.

The upgrade policy  for CS6 was posted yesterday:
    Complimentary upgrades for CS6 products
If you purchased Creative Suite 5.5 or a Creative Suite 5.5 component on or after March 26, 2012, you qualify to receive a complimentary upgrade to the equivalent Creative Suite 6 product at no additional cost when it becomes available.

  • Upgrade from Photoshop cs6 extended Demo to full non extended software

    Hi there
I was wondering, when upgrading my Photoshop CS6 extended demo to the full version of Photoshop CS6 (non extended) does the extended demo need to be completely removed first to prevent conflicts?

Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop CS6 Extended are installed from the same files, available for download. By default, the trial enables the complete feature set in Photoshop CS6 Extended. If you choose to purchase Photoshop CS6 rather than Photoshop CS6 Extended, you may simply enter your serial number for Photoshop, and the Photoshop Extended features for 3D design and scientific analysis will be turned off and hidden from view.

  • Upgrade price to CS6?

I purchased Photoshop CS5 Extended (Student & Teacher edition) in September 2011 and I'm interested in upgrading to CS6 when it comes out. I know that recent purchases have a free upgrade to CS6 (I bought Dreamweaver during this recent timeframe that will be upgraded), but I can't seem to find anywhere an upgrade price for Student and Teacher editions. I'm curious to know what the upgrade or discount price would be to get CS6 as a student, since it seems ridiculous to pay for another full student/teacher version for something I've only had for such a short time. If there isn't a student upgrade price to CS6, is there any way I could take my Dreamweaver upgrade and put it towards a Photoshop upgrade instead?
    Thank you.

    That's right.
There's been a (low key) shift in purchasing policy from earlier CS versions.
The standalone product > Suite upgrade path has been removed.
    From the CS6 FAQ
    http://www.adobe.com/au/products/photoshop/faq.html
What is Adobe's upgrade policy for Creative Suite 6?
Adobe allows upgrades to CS6 individual products and suite editions from one version back (which in this case is CS5 and CS5.5, due to the interim CS5.5 release). For example, if you have a validly licensed copy of Photoshop CS5, you can upgrade to Photoshop CS6 at the upgrade price. Owners of individual products are not eligible to upgrade to suite editions.
    http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/faq.html#purchasing-policy
What is Adobe's upgrade policy for Creative Suite 6?
Owners of a CS5 or CS5.5 suite edition qualify for upgrade pricing to a CS6 suite edition. Owners of an individual CS5 or CS5.5 product qualify for upgrade pricing to the same product but not to a suite edition. Any version earlier than CS5 will not be eligible for upgrade pricing.

I recently purchased an upgrade to Photoshop CS6. (Dec 9 2014).  I have today downloaded the file (Photoshop_13_LS16.7z
    This downloaded OK
When I tried to run the file (Winzip) I got the following message
"Installer failed to initialise. Could be due to a missing file.  Please download Abobe support adviser."
I tried to do that and it told me Adobe support adviser no longer exists.
Could you please advise a solution.

Extract it to a different location inside a dedicated folder and make sure to not destroy the file and folder hierarchy inside the archive. also run the install with sufficient user privielges and security stuff turned off.

What is the upgrade to photoshop cs6?

There is no traditional upgrade from CS6 to what would normally be "CS7".
The next version after CS6 is Photoshop CC and it's only available by subscription to the Creative Cloud.

  • Want to upgrade from PS CS6 to CS6 Extended.

I want to upgrade from Photoshop CS6 to Photoshop CS6 Extended. Told from support that's not possible. Really? If you've been able to do that, how?

Yes, there's the cloud...and that's how they get you. I absolutely believe that upgrading from a standard to the extended version should be available and available cheaply. The fact that it is not, has to be Adobes way to get you into the cloud. Why else would they not offer it?
If it's any consolation gswetsky, the only reason I wanted PhotoShop CS6 Extended was for the 3d application and it's really not that great and is a ram hog that I can't even render the 3d that I made.
I did get the Cloud, BTW, and I'm really enjoy it. Maybe not so much when my price goes up and I'm on a fixed income. The only program I use that I gained in the cloud, is Illustrator. Everything else I already owned.

  • Can I remove safely Photoshop CS5 after a successful upgrade to Photoshop CS6?

Can I remove safely Photoshop CS5 after a successful upgrade to Photoshop CS6? What is best and safest way to do this?

If you are using a Windows OS
Open CS5 and go Help > Deactivate.
Then Control Panel > Programs and features > select CS5 and uninstall.
Or just leave it there.  Make sure you have sorted any third party plugins from CS5, although the uninstall should leave them intact.
