Theme and Templates Q

Dear all,
I am asking rather lame question. Does anyone know of places where I can get extra theme and template for Apex? The default ones are too ugly. Thanks.

First of all that's a rather rude comment. I happen to love how much better these default templates look than other applications I've seen. Having said that you can try the following site:

Theme and Template not importing correctly

I have exported the theme and template file. At the import site the template and theme did not install correctly.
I can see that it is using the same theme as the source environment, but it will not appear.
Any ideas?

You've got two issues going on.
One- never put anything besides the .dwt template files in
the Templates
folder.
Also- the paths need to work IN the template.
The images aren't showing here:
http://www.und.edu/dept/art/Templates/MAIN.dwt
So dw is making wrong paths to them in the child pages.
Use the "browse to file" dialog box to pick the images.
And if any of them are in the Templates folder, use the Dw
files panel to
move them.
Second issue:
Your dw "site" is defined to a subfolder of the domain,
/dept/art/ as far as
i can guess. But you've used site root relative paths in the
Template. Site
root relative paths start with a leading /slash. It tells the
browser to
start from the domain name's root level.
Only use Document Relative paths if the site is defined to a
subfolder of a
domain. (look for the pulldown in the bottom of the browse to
file dialog
box)

Mobile themes and templates

It seems apex 4.1 supports developement of mobile apps and hence includes themes and HTML templates suitable for smart phones and mobile devices.
I have not found any themes specific to mobile apps. I could be wrong. Can anyone please help me locating themes and templates.

Are there theme and template or customization for modules?

The modules in buisness catalyst are very useful. However, they don't excactly look pleasant enough as they are too simple.
I'm building a chinese site and I want to add modules like blog, gallery and blog, news from buisness catalyst modules to my site created with Muse. It worked fine, however, I was wondering if maybe I can customize it a little? For example, adding frame and shadow to the gallery thumbs, or using a web font for the title of the blog module. I found the customize function in the develope mode, however, it provide very limited options such like the rows and the size of the image only.
Are there themes of template for all the different kind of modules or can I customize my own?

Not really from Muse no. It is very limited.
You can 100% go to town on the layouts and CSS of all of those you mentioned to customise the look and feel.
If you code your site and can edit the blog layouts for example and customise the html, then add your classes and ID's and then use CSS to style them. The BC gallery is a bit more limited but if you have a plan that supports web apps you can build your own for example and again customise the look and feel with CSS and the layouts of the web app in HTML. The functionality you can then apply with Javascript.

Purchase Custom Theme's and Templates??

We are developing an internet facing application and would like to focus on the functionality of the application rather than spending ages on customizing templates & website look and feel. We aren't overly impressed with what is provided out of the box and are wondering if anyone has created any nice themes or report & region templates which they might wish to sell $$$. What we are looking for must be visually impressive!
We also have a large customer base for development so there is also opportunities for us to reuse themes and pay royalties....

You don't have to spend "ages on customizing templates & website look and feel" to create a unique look for your app. Creating and customising apex themes is quite easy once you get into it. Templated predefined theme and JavaBean MapViewer API

i have problems using a templated predefined theme and the JavaBean Mapviewer API.
I defined a theme with a styling rule:

This works fine in OracleMaps, but i have troubles to get this working with the JavaBean API.

mv.addPredefinedTheme(themeName);
mv.setPredefinedThemeParameters(themeName,sArr);
...This results in a theme node with two parameter nodes in the xml map_request:

...But the output does not include the theme. Instead i get this error message:

Hi Dirk,
your type in this case is 'id_list' and the XML should be something like:
<theme name="MYTHEME">
<binding_parameters>
 <parameter value="aaa,bbb" type="id_list"/>
</binding_parameters>
</theme>
...However, if you are using version 10.1.3.1 (sending a direct XML request or using the API) it does not support this binding_parameter with a custom type. With version 11 preview that we posted recently, you should be able to send a direct xml request using the example above, but it seems that using the API, you will not be able to get the correct XML. We will check that.

Old Purchase Order and Templates

Hi Experts,
We have implemented SRM 5 and ECC 6 with classic scenario.
When we create a shopping cart, there is an option to select the old PO and templates which gives option to search for our own shopping carts and templates if any.
We have an business requirement to allow users to see all the shopping carts created within a business unit or department. This will enable them to use other shopping carts as reference.
Please let me know how this can be achevied.

If you want that every user should be able to see all shopping carts created by all other users, you need
to configure "Monitor Shopping Cart" button on your EBP (SRM) Enterprise Portal.
Please consult your Portal consultant to understand how this functionality can be configured.
Also you might need to assign the role SAP_EC_BBP_ADMINISTRATOR
(Authorization Object - B_BUPA_FDG) to your users, so that they can access all shopping carts of
other users.

External CSS and Templates

I am fairly new to using CSS and Dreamweaver having finally taken the plunge and dropped Micromumble mumble... I am wondering about external CSS and templates. When I assign a template to the external CSS does the CSS also translate down to the documents that are attached to the template or do each of them need to be attached to the CSS itself to work as well? Thanks for any help offered.

Just to clarify, if I have a class to define the color of my links in the template that is used in the uneditable regions but I also use the links in the editable regions, do I need to attach the CSS to the child as well?

How is the class defined and what do you mean by attached the CSS?

Editing Assistants and Templates

I am using a G4Powerbook with OS X 10.4.9. How on earth do I edit the assistants and templates in "starting points"? Most of these are ugly and just clutter the thing. (I have created a few templates, and they are hard to find because of all the other icons.) Also, how can I get rid of all the icons filling up the "recent items" tab of starting points? I've tried moving them to trash, but usually the message is "can't be moved because item has been deleted." !!
I can't seem to find the appropriate utility, and Pogue's section on "permissions" in his book seems to be all about iChat, which I don't use.
Any suggestions?

The templates live in Applications>Appleworks (folder)>Starting Points>Templates and you could either trash them or move them to somewhere else.
You can automatically clear out the recent items and also the auto-save items: open AppleScript Editor and paste this into it:
tell application "Finder"
activate
select (every item of folder "Recent Items" of folder "Starting Points" of folder "AppleWorks User Data" of folder "Documents" of folder "username" of folder "Users" of startup disk)
move selection to the trash
select (every item of folder "AutoSave" of folder "AppleWorks User Data" of folder "Documents" of folder "username" of folder "Users" of startup disk)
move selection to the trash
close windows
end tell
obviously replacing 'username'. Save as an application somewhere, and then add it to your startup items in Preferences>Accounts so that it will run on each startup.
Or if you want to remove them manually, the script shows you where they live.

Lost Assistants and Templates

i apparently trashed my assistant and templates folders and can't find my original appleworks disk. any ideas how i can restore appleworks to normal?

The only way that you'll be able to restore your Apple Works files is to reinstall them. You don't mention which computer you have - it may be that Apple Works is available on the bundled disks (or that it's on a bundled disk for one of your older computers). Let me know what computer(s) you have and I may be able to point you to the right disk. Failing that, you may need to turn to eBay.

Working with placeholders and templates in 10gR4

I am new to 10gR4 features. Can someone help me in working with placeholders and templates in 10gR4. Is there a document available on that?
This is what is did. I created a primary page which contains a contribution region for list of articles(dynamic list fragment). Next, I created a secondary page (hcsp file) which is designed to create/update new artcicles. I also added a placeholder before the contribution region for this article by name ArticleDetail.
I was able to add new articles and work with them as usual like in 10gR3.
But when I tried to access the contents of a particular article using wcm_place_holder service I am not able to see any contents.

Also tried the same with above values with placeholderDefinitionDocName instead of templateDocName parameter but no good.
Anything wrong I am doing here?

I tried something different and I am getting the response but the content is not html.
This is what I tried

and I got the response which is xml data. I think it is the contributed data file for TESTARTICLE.
What we are looking for is the html text for presenting the article directly on external sites. The documentation for WCM_PLACEHOLDER says that it should get html directly. I am not able to get it.

Your steps sound correct. I would add that you generally need the following:
1. publish the IAC, SYSTEM, and WEBGUI Internet Services (also from SE80)
2. make sure the Integrated ITS is working. Meaning you should activate the ITS in the profile parameter, this can be seen in transaction SITSPMON. Some services in transaction SICF also need to be activated, like the default_host/sap/public/bc/its
From your error message though it looks like the URL you have used is either incorrect or you have used the External Alias feature in SICF? The URL for the ITS is usually http://host:port/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/service. Second, the error is about a language resource file (.htrc), you have not specified if you created one or not. To create one in the language you are logged in with just go to SE80, open your Internet Service and double click on the "Topic xx". Don't forget to publish after creating and saving it.

JDEVADF - Page and Template source code

Hi All,
On the "http://jdevadf.oracle.com" demo site I could see that there are links to the Page and Template source code.
My question here is that can we download and use the same source code directly in the Jdev to get the same layout style.
I tried with the Template and was getting some errors so not sure.
If possible them please let me know the steps to achieve the same.
The layout options are really cool and I want to implement the same for one of my practice project.

Cloudy theme 24 Template region width not responding to style width change

Hello
I have a question regarding templates and themes.
Firstly I was using theme 20 traditional blue and all was ok.
Page template “2 level tabs with left sidebar”.
I had a page with a tree in the left side bar region.
Within the region definition in the attributes section against region attributes
I included the following style="width=300px;" which increased the width of my tree so none of the text was cut off.
All working fine!
Then I was asked to move to the “cloudy” theme 24 which scrambled my tabs and layout but with a bit of work I sorted this out all but the tree region.
The problem is the tree region always renders at a certain width even with the style code as before in the region attribute specifying a width nothing happen.
Any ideas on what is happening here?

I have tried using 150px 250px 350px and the width increases and then stops
the view source shows me the following when I use 100% the ffffff id is mine input via the screen for testing
<section class= uRegion clearfix id= ffffff style=width:100%;> (quotes removed so it display correctly).
I have checked both templates for the page in each theme and I cannot find any references to #REGION_ATTRIBUTES# #REGION_STATIC_ID# in the templates.
the view source of the pages is quite different in each theme

Trying to import address books and templates from old Netscape Communicator 4.8 to Thunderbird. What old version of Thunderbird to use ( new version wont do

Been using Communicator 4.8 for years. Working fine had no reason to change. But now security settings wont work with yahoo pop server.
Want to import my address books and templates to thunderbird.
New version of Thunderbird 31.0 doesn't have import for communicator that old. Earlier versions do.
Figured I'd use old version of thunderbird to import and then update thunderbird to 31.00
Tried thunderbird 3.0 which has importer for 4.73 but getting error message that it is having trouble. Anyone know last version of thunderbird that had netscape 4.8 importer ? Thought maybe a later version would be able to import and then update to newest thunderbird.

1 - there is no importing involved - you NEVER import an iPhoto library into another iPhoto library
2 - you have to run programs after you download them - go to your applications folder ==> utilities and launch the library upgrader -- Then launch iPhoto to complete the upgrade
