Theme blues well greys really!

I use Slickness-Black in Gnome, but I am getting fed up with dark text boxes and sometimes black text on a black background [grrrr!]
Somehow managed to get grey text set up but its starting to annoy me now
Do I need to edit gtkrc or userChrome.css?
Or is there another dark theme that does not have these drawbacks, so long as it does not have Ubuntu as a theme name?
Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forums!
Here is the link to blackberry for the today theme, I'm sure they have the other too.
The only problem you might have, is you mentioned it's a corporate phone, meaning BES. The IT department may have policies setup to prevent loading.
If you want to try here's the link:

Please let me now How it goes!

  • Blue and Grey Bar taking up bottom half of page in Firefox?

    Hello,
I have a massive blue and grey bar going across the bottom of my screen when I use Firefox resulting in my screen size being half of what it should be. What is this and how can I make it go away? Been using Firefox for years and this is the first time I have ever seen this.
I have restarted my computer as well and same result.
    Thanks

Try to start firefox in safe mode and see if the problem's gone, if the screen looks ok in safe mode, the problem is 1 or more add-ons, try to disable them one by one to see which one has caused the problem.
to start firefox in safe mode: goto help menu and click on Restart with Add ons disabled

  • My iphone5s screen turned blue then grey. i've just updated it to ios7.1 two weeks ago. tried restoring through itunes but it says error 40. how to fix?

Hi, i've just updated my iphone 5s to ios7.1 two weeks ago, however, 4 days ago, my phone's screen turned blue then grey. I have tried restoring it through i tunes but itunes keep saying error 40. Can this still be fixed? or does it need a replacement?

    Hey everyone in Apple world!
I figured out how to fix the flashing yellow screen problem that I've been having on my MBP!  Yessssss!!!
I found this super handy website with the golden answer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
I followed the instructions on this page and here's what I did:
    Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
I went through the 6 steps above twice, just to make sure I got rid of whatever stuff was holding up my bootup process.  Since I did that, my MBP boots up just like normal.  No flashing yellow screen anymore!!
(Note that I arrived at this solution when I first saw this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570?viewlocale=en_US)
Let me know if this works for you!

There are lots of ideas floating on the web for this particular issue - all of which I tried. I had the same problem and it turned out to be my USB cable. I thought the cable was fine as it would charge my phone and play but the data transfer pin was bent. I replaced the cable and it fixed the problem. Worth a shot as it is an easy fix!

  • Blue or grey screen on boot

    Mac Pro 1,1; 10.6.4
On attempting to start up recently I got a screen in alternating shades of blue.
Trying to boot to a bootable CD gives me a 'you need to restart' grey screen.
Booting to the diagnostic works and finds no problems.
Booting in firewire target mode allows access to the HD and repaired some errors with diskutility but did not change symptoms. Subsequent checks show no errors.
Booting to an ubuntu livecd worked fine with generic graphics drivers (up to date drivers available but require a reboot).
Booting into safe mode has the blue screens alternating with a black screen with a white rectangle in the top left (about the size of an old terminal cursor).
Zapping PRAM doesnt seem to change anything.
Recent upgrades include +4GB RAM which I have removed and errors remain with the original 1GB RAM (2x512)
I have also replaced the graphics card recently, GT 8800 stopped working and I replaced it with another GT 8800.
The help pages on blue and grey screens seem to be mutually exclusive but both discuss removing peripherals and non Apple hardware.
Per above, I have tried the diagnostic/safe/boot CD options mentioned in both and the only option I cant try is removing the graphics card (unless there is a way to test a successful boot without a screen?)
I suspect it is either a graphics fault which ubuntu doesnt mind but OSX does, or a more complex disk corruption.
The next option appears to be erasing the disk with firewire/diskutil and attempting a fresh install (not sure why this would remedy the kernel panic on booting from CD).
Some logs have been populated in Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports, I can post fragments as required but am unable to interpret atm.
    Any suggestion appreciated.

    Here are Apple's instructions:
If you are using iPhoto ’06 or earlier, you will need to follow these steps to tell iPhoto where the Library is now located:
Hold down the Option key on the keyboard and open iPhoto. Keep the Option key held down until you are prompted to create or choose an iPhoto Library.
    Click Choose Library.
Locate and select the iPhoto Library in its new location.

  • When I touch buttons voice names them but does not really respond.  What should I do to restore normal work?

When I touch buttons voice names them but does not really respond.  What should I do to restore normal work? Thank you

I have the same problem, its an ipod touch, the most recent version, for my granma. she is blind. it wouldn't respond when you pick something, double tapping or even identifying it when either of use it.
i can see that i am tapping the buttons in VO mode and it doesn't respond. It also says to scroll with three fingers and that takes 20 tries to get to work. I bought this for my grandmother to use VO and it doesn't work. Its a load of crap. I thought if I updated that might help, it doesn't need to be updated.
And the voice speed is almost at the lowest and it still talks fast.
It is ridiculous to have a feature like this and it not be useable. Disgruntled and disgusted by Apple's disregard for the people who could most benefit from this type of technology. I've looked on websites for the blind. So far, no help or advice.

  • Imac G5 17" blue screen, grey screen, post-it notes...

Hi guys, some more iMac fun and games for you...
My dad has got a 17" iMac first generation (EMC: 1989). It's had Leopard (version 10.5.8) installed for the last 6 months. Yesterday when he was using it, some of the graphics started having vertical lines through them, the computer slowed and the coloured spinning wheel appeared. Force-quit wouldn't work and so holding the power button shut it down. Then, whenever he would startup, the screen would go to grey with apple logo and spinning wheel, then go to the blue screen, then the blue would slightly change colour and there it would stay...
So, I've tried all kinds of 'fixes' from the 'applicationenhancer' thing from single-user mode etc (didn't exist on the iMac). I've re-set PRAM, the SMU. I've unplugged power, discharged power, left off over night etc. I have also run fsck from single-user mode.
It will boot in single-user mode but won't boot in safe mode. It won't boot from a CD, even when holding down option and choosing the CD to boot from. However, target-mode does work and I have transferred off some of his files. In target mode, I have also successfully used disk utility to repair disk. All this to no avail. Blue screen trick happens every time.
Interestingly, when I did try to boot from Macintosh HD via starting up holding option key, instead of going blue screen, it went black screen but with occasional vertical lines of colour, sometimes faint, slightly moving mysteriously.
This morning when trying again, it actually reached the main home screen, with the programme shortcuts in the dock etc - although these were whited / blued-out and displaying the mysterious vertical lines through them (interestingly, the 'shadow' of these icons seemed to be displaying colours properly as per screenshot). The rest of the screen was black including the 'top line'. When I did a spotlight search for disk utility, it actually found it and this seemed to be displaying normally (see screenshot). Then the spinning wheel appeared and I had to hold power to shut down again.
Then today, having opened up the iMac and run through Apple's troubleshooting for when an iMac doesn't turn on, LED 1 lit up when plugged in. Then when starting up using the button inside the iMac, LEDs 1,2 and 3 all lit up. When I looked at the screen, the second screenshot revealed some 'post-it notes' across the screen. Bizarre!
I'm thinking this means a corrupt hard drive or hardware somewhere, but any hints gratefully appreciated. Thanks for your time!!
I haven't yet had chance to hook up an external monitor, am ordering an apple adapter lead to check that.

Took it into the Apple Store Genius Bar yesterday and very helpful. Yours was the right diagnosis. The logic board needs replacing. They hadn't seen the 'post-it' note effect before. The iMac successfully started up from a firewire hard drive with Leopard, using the 'option' key on startup. However, there were some artifacts on screen (trails) as the Apple Store guy dragged the 'about this computer' around the screen. No dead pixels, so very sure this is a graphic card issue at minimum, possibly something wrong with the OS booting up as well, as this doesn't apparently work off the hard drive, despite being accessible by target mode. Cost will be £350 ($560 US) to fix, or £200 from a third-party supplier. Seems I may get a new iMac instead. So, thanks very much. Hope I can be of help to someone else on here. Happy holidays.

  • Edit in Photoshop Fixed in 2.1--Well not really!

Just downloaded the 2.1 update and tried out one of my major annoyances which was the edit in Photoshop bug which would not automatically add the file back into Lightroom. Now when I do it, seems to edit the photo, then save it back to Lightroom. Only problem now is color lables. When I edit, I assign color labels for B&W, Tweak, Standard. Yellow is for B&W, Green is for Tweaks, and Blue is standard edits. If I choose to edit a photo that has a yellow label in photoshop, it adds it back to lightroom with no color label. I then need to stop filtering by color label, find the edited file, assign it my yellow color label, and then go back to filtering my images in order to stack it with the original. Whew, too much work. Any body have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Toby

Toby I could be wrong and if I am someone I am sure will point it out.
I thought that when you edited an image in Photoshop that you weren't
actually editing the original image file, but a copy. If that is the case
the image you save after editing in Photoshop is a totally different file
(someplace on your system) and being that wouldn't have the color code
assigned because it isn't that image any more.
Right or wrong what I would like to see adding is that when you edit an
image or take it to another program or whatever for whatever reason (HDR,
Pano, etc.) when it came back in to LR it was automatically added to a new
collection called edited. This would be a LR only collection that the user
couldn't add to other than to edit a photo in photoshop, make a panorama,
etc. This way you could easily find, move, keyword, etc. images that you
just stitched, made in to an HDR or edited in photoshop. This would save you
from having to search the library for them.
