Theme not localized: Cannot publish in japanese

When I try to localize the Text labels for the player via
Theme Editor > Modify Text Labels > Language > Japanese
the list for "Buttons/ Messages" and "Custom Text" is shown correctly in Japanese.
After publishing, however, all labels are being shown in german (I'm sitting in front of a german Windows XP).
Moreover, every time I re-open the "Player Text Labels" window (which opens after you click on "Modify Text Labels"), the selected choice is english again!?!?
How can I publish content so that all labels are being displayed in japanese?
I'm using Presenter 7.0.5

I tried the workaround to set the <language id="ja"> in the vconfig.xml
Basically if you paste the japanese content into all <language> sections, you force the player to display japanese labels no matter what language your OS is. So my current problem is solved.
Nevertheless I would strongly encourage Adobe to implement a new feature where the user is able to force the display language and/ or introduce a new property e.g.
<uishow name="language" value="ja">
If this has a value <> NULL, the given language should be used.

You can sync your iPod with multiple computers, but what can be synced is very limited. See this article for more details.

Presenter 10 - theme info not showing in published video

Using Presenter 10 - when I publish a video using powerpoint my theme with presenter info and selected panes does not show. I start by going to power point and creating a custom theme within the presenter tab and check the presenter info and panes I want to show and press ok. I then hit record and it sends me to adobe presenter video express. I record the video and publish the project. However no theme shows in the final published video. Maybe adobe presenter was not meant to show theme information in a published video?

Presenter Video Express (APVE) does not use the theme for the PPT output. If you embed the MP4 in a PPT slide using Presenter, then publish it out it will have the theme wrapper around the PPT content, which contains your APVE video.
If you want to customize the theme in the APVE you can do that when editing your video in that tool.

Cannot publish 1 page in CS4. Other pages including index.html ok. Error message results.

After many months of no difficulty, I suddenly cannot publish changes to one of my pages (all others work) without getting the error message 'Another instance of Contribute is doing a workflow operation. Do you want to break the workflow and continue.....?' Whether I say yes or no and follow the prompts, it doesn't work. One way lets me exit, the other locks up my computer and I have to 'end task' to get control back. I hoped that the answer to the 'cannot publish index page' thread would help, but I didn't understand because most of this stuff is over my head. The only thing unusual I can dectect is the page name has an # sign after html as in 'name.html#tuition.' The word tuition refers to a pointer on the page. When I switch to edit mode, an asteric * appears after 'html' on the page name. I do not see that on any other page when I edit. I have CS4 version 5. Can anyone help? I don't know how many people there are in India, but I talked to half of them in a 2.5 hour 'session' in which I was transferred in a least 3 complete loops to every department and passing 'go' 3 times before some techie finally said I should email my question in and will get a reply within 3 days. Yeah, right. Worst tech support experience I have had in 10 years.

Can you try deleting the Preferences and the Contribute's User Configuration folder. You will lose your website connections, you can recreate them again after relaunching Contribute.
If you have installed Contribute in Mac, go to <Username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe folder and delete Contribute CS4 folder there. Also, go to <Username>/Library/Preferences/ folder and delete the 'Adobe Contribute 5 Preferences' file.
If you have installed Contribute in Windows XP, the Contribute's Configuration folder will be in C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\. Delete the Contribute CS4 folder there. To clear the registry for Contribute, type 'regedit' in the Run window.(Click Start, and click Run, and then type 'regedit' in the text field.) Select HKEY_CURRENT_USER, then Software, then Adobe, then Contribute CS4. Click Delete button. Close the Registry Editor window.
The <username>, I have mentioned above is the name with which you will have logged into the machine.
Now, Relaunch Contribute and connect to your website and try editing the web pages from your website. Can you try this?

Cannot publish to MP4, get blank, yellow warning

I am using Captivate 6 (cloud - online) - which I just purchased June 2013. I use an iMac OS 10.8.4
The file size I am tyring to publish is 38.8 MB, but I cannot publish to MP4.
I even tried with a file that was only 4 MB, and cannot publish.
I also have the latest version of Captivate (6.2) Updated today.....
Tried after the upadte and still cannot publish.
The file names do not have any odd characters or spaces.
Any help would be appreciated.

Can you please confirm what is the resolution of your project? (check the bottom right side or click on modify > rescale project and check height & width).
Create a back up of your project (save it with a different name on another location), then rescale the project, so that W & H both should be in even numbers. (increase or decrease W or H by 1 to make them even)
Then republish your project in .MP4 and check whether this works?

Cannot publish app via GUI but can via Powershell

I'm currently looking at an environment whereby applications can be published as a RemoteAPP via the New-RDRemoteApp command but when using the gui i'm confronted with the following:

No firewalls between the servers, WMI running.
Any suggestions or pointers would be great.

Have you try to restart the server and check the result?
Is there any other RemoteApp working?
Do you have this environment under Microsoft Azure?
From the error description it seems the RDSH server is not getting recognized properly as might there is no proper connection. Please check whether you can find the respective server as added in GUI mode. Can you see the server under collections?
Do you face this issue on Server 2012 R2, if yes then found one related thread causing the issue. You can refer the last answer by “Adam” and see whether it can resolve your case.

Cannot publish to Robohelp Server 8

Hello All,
Well let me start by stating that I am a systems administrator but I have had no experience setting up Apache, Tomcat or Robohelp Server.
This bomb has been dropped in my lap cause I am typically the goto guy. The company has an intranet site with a help section that was created and currently resides on a windows 2000 server with RSC 2.3, and RoboEngine 4.1. I have been tasked with setting up new server which will be windows 2003 server 32 bit OS.
Ok. I have followed all the Robohelp Server 8 getting started instructions (page5-6) on how to setup Apache Web Server with the Tomcat servlet for Robohelp server 8. I feel darn near 100% that I have gotten all of that correct. In other words everything tests correctly. I.e., going to http://localhost shows me the proper index.htm. I can access the tomcat manager using default UN and PW.
So I installed Robohelp Server 8 on the F:\Adobe RoboHelp Server 8\robo\server partition. I did create more than one context but am just trying to publish to the default robohelp. I create 3 areas. I do see the context's listed in Tomcat Manager and they all show as started.
I have created a simple project with one help file in Robohelp HTML software. I can generate it and it looks fine. I then configure the the WebHelp Pro Single Source Layout to publish to Robohelp Test Server, server *****WUIT002 (my test server), robohelp adds /robohelp/server automatically. I use admin, admin as username and PW. I attempt to select an area but get the error 'Unable to get area list from server'. Ok. that is not a good sign. But I save and attempt to publish anywho...to no avail(of course). I receive the message "Warning: Failed to publish to "Robohelp Test Server". reason: Unable to connect to the RoboHelp server on *****wuit002. If RoboHelp Server is not being used, generate WebHelp instead. More information on RoboHelp Server is available in the help file.."
I have looked at permissions to the partition and Robohelp server directory. I have basically completely opened them up just to see if that was the issue and I am still having a problem. Help Please. There is so little info out there regarding this product.

Oh, one more thing, uvwaves. Regarding your note about, " I attempt to select an area but get the error 'Unable to get area list from server'."
I realize this is disconcerting, but usually not a problem and may be ignore (as you did.) If left blank, the "general" area is assigned by default.
However, the other error, "Warning: Failed to publish to "Robohelp Test Server" is quite another matter and hopefully the logs will help me.

Cannot publish comments to a shared review

I created a shared review from a PDF located on a shared network drive. The storage location for the shared review is on ANOTHER shared network drive (Drive 2). According to our IT department, all members of the shared review have write access to Drive 2; however, some members CANNOT publish their comments to Drive 2. On the other hand, some CAN publish comments.
Upon opening the PDF on Drive 2, one user gets the following message: Adobe cannot connect to the Review Server: Drive 2. If he clicks Keep Tryping, the PDF opens. He then saves it to HIS computer, adds a comment, and clicks Publish Comments. He gets the message: Could not publish comments. Acrobat cannot access the network. IT cannot figure out why he cannot publish his comments.
Moreover, if he SAVES the PDF to the location in Drive 2, closes the PDF, and opens it again, his comments are there, but NOT comments published by others. AND when I open my local copy of the review, I cannot see his comments, only the comments by others.
I hope IT can figure it out, but in the meantime, does anyone have any suggestions.

This is a known issue on German OS. This has been documented in AX release notes - http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/877/cpsid_87775.html (issue#2734285)
As a workaround, you can try the following:
1. Go to Control Panel->Regional and Language Options on XP
2. Click Customize button in 'Standards and formats"
3. Change the Decimal symbol from , (comma) to . (dot) and click OK
Now try adding comments to the review file. That should help.

Try turning the account off and on : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'
If that doesn't work then try closing the Mail app completely : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

if I run this line in windows, windows access to this folder.

If your XI server is running on Unix platform then you'll get the access only after mounting 10.128.68.38 this system as a drive. This is equivalent to the windows network mapping.
Next thing is that once that is done then you can access the path /arbo2000/UploadPinfos/arbodev by mentioning it in your directory path.
To check whether the above mentioned is the problem then pls do try by doing it with FTP protocol. If it works then for acting as a local directory for NFS you need to mount the drive.

First do the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
Next, in Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder. So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

Themes not rendering

Hi.
I just tried iMovie 6's themes, and none of them seems to render.
Preview is fine, but when applying (=validating) the themed clip, it just does not work :
- the clip in the timeline appears with the "original" photos attached to the theme, not the one I added from the iPhoto library
- there is no rendering at all happening of the themed clip
- when previewing frames from the themed clip, frames appear black.
I checked these forums fro answers and could not make it work.
Here are a few things I checked/ tried:
- movie projects are stored in my home folder in the internal, journaled-HFS+ formatted startup drive
- I removed all Quicktime plug-ins (checked both user and computer folders), including flip4mac, divx, perian, as well a the A52 audio component; I just had to re-add some in order to iMovie to start properly (AppleHDVCodec.component, AppleIntermediateCodec.component and DesktopVideoOut.component)
- I reinstalled iMovie from the MBP's install DVDs and re-ran the 6.0.3 updater.
This behaviour happens on my MacBook Pro and my Mac Mini Core Duo.
On the MBP, I had FCP (Universal binary) installed, but removed some of its assets and apps because my HD was full.
iMovie 6 (and themes) works very well on my girlfriend's brand new black MacBook, although I also installed Flip4Mac, perian and A52 codec).
I had never uses themes before and am just very disappointed, not being able to use them, now that I've discovered them (they're great for making movies out of photos).
Of course, in a few weeks, iMovie 7 will problaby be out and I'll buy it.
But I'd really like to solve (as well as understand) this problem with iMovie 6 first.

Quicktime and QuickTime Player versions are 7.1.3.
I know I miss the latest Final Cut Studio updates (haven't used it recently) but I thought that would not change a thing if I disable QuickTime plug-ins anyway.
My serial number is at home and necessary to download the latest Final Cut updates.
If you think that could be important, I will do it tonight.
Here is what happens with themes in iMovie.
- I create a new movie (HDV 720p) in my Movies folder
- I choose the travel theme and the Lower Third template. The template loads and previews in the main window
- I drag a photo from the media/Photos/iPhoto panel to the drop zone ; the template now previews in the main window with the photo I chose (which seems like normal behaviour)
-When I click the checkbox in the preview window on the far right, a new clip is added to the timeline (which again seems normal)
However, the clip is not normal :
- its thumbnail in the timeline is strictly identical to the theme/template thumbnail : the photo I chose does and dragged to the drop zone does not appear
- I cannot play the clip, and the play button is dimmed
- Any frame of the clip I preview, by dragging the playhead, is black (no theme, no photo)
- The clip appears as unrendered, with a red line under it. That line never moves.
- When I try to save, I get a warning about a "rendering in progress". that is after 1 hour, a 5 seconds theme/template, and a standard 5 Megapixels JPEG photo
- If I "stop rendering", save the project, close it then reopen it, the clip is gone.
That happens also with a 400*400 JPEG photo.

Defined Named Ranges Not Showing in Publish Options

Greetings,
First off I have:
- 1 workbook with:
- 10 worksheets with data transpoosed in different manners
- 7 worksheets with charts and named ranges for each worksheet
The 5 chart worksheets have charts based on data directly from the 5 data worksheets. Each chart worksheet contains about 5 uniques charts.
There are separate named ranges defined within each chart worksheet that should encompass each of the different groups of charts on their respective worksheet. The probem I am having is that of the 7 named ranges I have defined only 4 of them show in the
Publish Options when I try to Save & Send the workbook tyo SharePoint. There isn't anything special about the 4 named ranges that show nor is there anything special about the named ranges that don't show. I have tried many different things to
get the named ranges to appear but they won't. I can publish all of the graphs withing the named ranges individually but that's not an ideal way to maintain them going forward. Any ideas on where to look to see why the named ranges are being excluded?

Today, I tried it again and now I could see the Name range under Browser View Options list, this is my step as below:
1. Type the value in Cell A1 to B4. (Same as the screenshot as the last reply)
2. Directly type Test in Name Box.
3. Go to File > Info > Browser View options > Items in the Workbook.
Now the Name is appearing.
But when we define a name to a blank range, we would not see the Name in the Browser View options anymore. Try in your site.
By the way, My using version is Office 36 ProPlus, version 15.0.4551.1005.

Web interaction in local HTML5 publish

Hi,
I have a bit of a hard time to get web interaction working in local html5 publish.
We have embedded a web page interaction widget in our presentation.
The interaction works fine in LMS, but we need to deliver the content on CD, so the presentation has to run offline.
I have found this article:

which suggests that it could work in firefox, but that is unacceptable, since ff is not supported browser and a lot of other things we used doesn't work there (the only browser we can use is chrome).

it might have something to do with security settings. But it is only a simple web page with no security measurements taken.
Although html5 publish is highly preferable, we tried exe and swf publish as well. No luck there either.

I think your issue is definitely going to be related to browser security.
Take a look at this article related to Flash security:

Although HTML5 is not using Flash the issue is basically the same. Sandboxing of the content. Anything that the browser does not regard as belonging to the same sandbox is going to be blocked.
Your definition of "security" and the browser's definition of security are likely to be very different. But the result will be the same (it won't work) unless you deliver your HTML5 content from a web server where the cross domain security issues can be eliminated.
