Theme with 50 images
hi i need to do a montage for wedding so i would need to have more than 50 images in it. In order to have a nicer backdrop using the themes in imovie...i have tried playing with the settings...however the theme seem like only last a few short secs..and the max images that i can put in it is around 7-8. Can i put in more than that? Is there a way for me to control the animation at a slower speed? The animation seem interesting..but it only last a while..is it possible to carry on the theme..all the way..4mins..without letting the audienece actually see that it is looping or repeating?

the Themes are not meant as 'backgrounds' or 'borders' but as a short preview of what to come, an interlude, a segmentation in a movie ...
so, afaik, I don't see any option to modify the Theme for your needs..
... for sure, you could make a 'screenshot' of a Theme (Apple-Shift-4) and use that screenshot as 'template' in any pic processor (Photoshop/Elements) to add your pictures ... but, that is a still, no motion ...

Instantly Viewing Pictures After Taking Them with Image Capture?
Does anyone know how I can use Image Capture to instantly display images after I shoot them with my DSLR (Nikon D40)? My camera is in PTP mode and is recognized by Image Capture, so that's not a problem. What I can't figure out is if there's a way to trigger the downloading of the image as soon as I take it on the camera--by pressing the trigger and not, for example, by executing an Automator workflow. PaulI fixed the problem. Now it is downloading photos over USB super fast with no problems.

I did the following steps from the previous post's Apple link:
Once you determine that your computer has a USB 2.0 connection, use the following steps to troubleshoot the connection between the device and the computer. Test after each step:
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Plug the device directly into a high-power USB 2.0 port on the computer. If possible, use a USB port on the back of the computer.Avoid plugging the device into a keyboard, display, or standalone hub. The USB ports on these accessories may be low-power or only offer USB 1.x connections.
If you are using an accessory, remove the device from the dock and connect it to the computer using only the Apple USB to Dock Connector cable.If you have access to additional Apple USB to Dock Connector cables, try testing with another if the first one doesn't work.
Restart your computer and device. To restart your device:Hold the power button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the Sleep/Wake button to turn it back on.

I have created two related Blurb books in Lightroom 5 (Volumes 1 and 2) but my balance of page numbers is off. So I'd like to take some pages out of one book (complete with images) and paste them into the other. Is this possible?

Is it possible to create an xcursor theme with SVG images instead of PNG images?
An unproductive Google search is making me guess that the answer is "No." Also, I've downloaded a few from the AUR, and none of them use SVG images (unless they're being used as examples). Does anyone know if this is possible?view > edit slide master

Need software which can send images to my editor, have them make selections, share them with me so I can edit the images and send the final results back to them. Will Lightroom work?
What I would like to do is to use Lightroom as I have been doing with LR 5.7. Tag certain images to be shared to the Creative Cloud which my editor can then see and tag as to which she would like to see final versions of. In the best case, I would then see these tags and edit the images as appropriate and save the JPEGs back to the Cloud where she can download them for final production.

I have taken pictures with both my Sony camera and my iPhone of items that are linked to a database that I am building, as well as my website. How can I bypass importing the images into iPhoto and simply downloading the images as "files" not "photos" so I can access them with my database? thanx.
If your Sony has a removable memory card you can use a card reader to copy the image files from to a folder on your Desktop and then move them anywhere you'd like.
Since the iPhone doesn't have a removable memory card you can try using Image Capture to see if you can manually upload the files to a folder on the Desktop.
If you have to import the photos, which are image files, into iPhoto you can then export them out of iPhoto to the Desktop and go from there to your database. Just because they are in iPhoto doesn't prevent you from using them elsewhere.

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution. We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using? A new iMac will have Yosemite. Confirm.
what system version are you running? Download iPhoto 6 from the App store. Did you?
what do you mean by "picture keeper"?
have you looked in the Applications folder for an iPhoto application?
is your iPhoto Library in your Pictures folder ? -
As I can sometimes do, I did not read the directions before delving into LR. Now I find my self with image history in LR on 2 or 3 of my HD's. I would like to now consolidate it on one HD but fear in doing so I will lose the images I have created within LR. Is there a tutorio or some other way to get me back on track with this application?
Your image history (if I understand you properly) is stored in your catalog file, and nowhere else, and so it is only on a single drive.
Do you mean you have edited photos on multiple drives? This isn't a problem for Lightroom at all, the software doesn't care, and you can leave things just the way they are. But if it bothers you for some reason, you can move the photos to a single drive if you want. In Lightroom select the desired photos or folders (it's easier to do this using Folders) and drag them to the desired drive.

How to create a Contact Sheet with Adobe Photoshop CS5 from a disc with images in different folders
I got a disc with images files (mainly ai and psd files) in different folders and subfolders, how can I create a contact sheet including all the image files in different folders. (It seems that Adobe Bridge can only create a contact sheet by clicking the image files directly but not a folder including the images files)

I'm not sure how PS CS5 will handle ai vector image files or if you have to batch convert them to raster images first before using Contact Sheet II. Contact Sheet II allows you to choose a folder and Include All SubFolders as an option so you could create a Contact Sheet folder and copy all of your desired folders into that folder which will become subfolders of the main folder you choose for your contact sheet. -
Problem with Image Capture Download Folders
Hi there - I was wondering if anyone might be able to help with a problem I'm having with Image Capture (version 3.0.3 (333))?
I use image capture to download photos from my digital camera and normally have no problems.
When I tried to do some downloads this morning, my normal list of folders in the "Download to" drop-down box is completely blank. It didn't even have the "Other" option to chose a folder. The Automatic Task drop down was also blank, I could not open preferences and in the "options" box, the ColourSync profile would not load anything.
I could not download the photos to anywhere - when I tried to "download some" it gave me an error message saying that I need to choose a download folder, but of course I am unable to do this.
This morning I tried repairing permissions in disk utilities, and removing the com.apple.imagecaptureapplist file and rebooting as suggested here:

but that hasn't worked completely. I can now download the photos but they just automatically go to the "Pictures". At least I can download them now, but if I can get the two drop down boxes working again, and the other things working (preferences etc), that would be great.
One other thing, about a month ago I foolishly tried to rename my Home Folder without doing it the proper way. I had thought I had gotten everything back to normal with my library etc, but maybe there are a few unknown implications still out there, and this is one of them as I don't think I have tried to download any photos since then.

OK:
1. I found the photo and have put it back as the login page icon as close as I could to what it used to look like..
2. I trashed the user's .com.apple.systempreference file but it didn't work.
3. I then copied my .com.apple.systempreference file to their library>preferences folder but no luck.
4. Finally, I noticed the other user account had no system preferences file in their "Applications" folder. So I copied the system preferences file from my application folder across and used that to open system preferences, and that has seemed to fix it, ie. system preferences now opens directly from the apple menu.
So I am noticing a few things now:
5. The other user's "Applications" folder doesn't have many applications in it. It only has:
- Utilities
- Adobe Version Cue CS2
- Real Player
- iTunes (which was only downloaded there recently - post Home Folder name change I think)
- Imagecapture which I copied there yesterday
- and now System preferences
6. This is compared to my user account applications folder which has loads of other files in it, eg. Preview, Stuffit Expander, iDVD, iChat, Calculator, Chess, Skype, etc etc etc. I just can't remember if this was the case before the Home Folder rename.
7. Now, my user account used to be the only admin account, so it makes sense that my "Applications Folder" has more in it because programs could only have been downloaded there for a long time. The other person's user account has only been an admin account much more recently - say in the last year and very few applications (if any) would have been downloaded there.
8. Interestingly, while the other user account doesn't have the Skype or Preview file in their "Applications" folder, it does appear in their bar along the bottom of the screen that has the dashboard and finder icons (is this called the dock?).
9. Anyway, if you are in the other user's account and you click on Skype, iCal, Word or Preview in their Dock for example, those programs open no problem so the dock icons must somehow have survived the Home Folder renaming and stayed linked to the corresponding files in my "Applications" folder? But some other programs, eg. system preferences, image capture etc didn't survive it and became "delinked".
10. I also notice internetconnect still works in the other user account, even though there is no internetconnect file in that user's "Applications" folder.
11. So it seems that some links between the other user and my account have been severed, and some have survived.
Some other information:
12. Everything that was on the other user's desktop appears to have been recovered since the Home Folder debacle (I think getting the Library back helped this?), and I managed to redo the desktop picture/wallpaper.
13. I'm not sure if it is relevant, but in my account, Finder has a side bar on the left that is divided into an upper section and a lower section. The lower section has my home folder, a documents folder, a desktop folder, a pictures folder etc. On the upper section it has the macintosh disk icon, and also a Network Icon (that contains a library file and another file which I can't remember just now but can let you know if that helps). The other user account does not have the Network icon however. Do you think this might make a difference?
14. In addition to the other user account there is also a guest account on this computer which has suffered the same problems, eg. not being able to open imagecapture or systempreferences. However, when I fixed the problems in the other user account by copying over the imagecapture and system preferences files from my account to the other user account, the problems in the guest account were automatically fixed!
15. So it seems the guest login is somehow linked to the fixes in the other user account, but the other user account and the guest account are suffering some problems with links to my user account. Perhaps the latter was badly broken with the Home Folder rename incident?
16. Finally, if you go into Finder while in the other user's account, you can navigate to the applications folder in my account and access all the applications there, ie. Macintosh HD>Users>MyHomeFolderName>Applications. My applications folder is not blocked like some of the other ones, eg. Library, Desktop, Pictures etc.
17. Is there someway to re-establish the link between the other user account and my application's folder? I don't want to copy all the applications across even if I can do that, because it just takes up more space on the HD, but if that is all that can be done, then I will consider doing it...

[CS3][JS] Help with image resizing
I'm still a newbie of ID scripting.
I'm using js scripting in Indesign CS3 to make an auto-impaginator and I have a problem with images.
I charged my contents from an xml set of tables, that I put into a fixed textFrame of the master page.
Because of the table needs to fill multiple pages, I made a function that keep creating pages and link the textFrames so that the table continues in various pages.
In this whole process I have some images too, that I need to resize them to fill the cell, because now they pass the parent cell.
I found a method that looks at the bounds and resizes the image and the rectangle too, but it doesn't work always, because if a image is overflowing, it hasn't any bound and it fails, and this causes other problems in my process, so I would find another method.
So:
Is there another way to resize an image on-the-way while importing it? Some xml attribute or preference?
Or some method that works also if the image is overflowing?These forums are pointless. Adobe must believe that other users will cut the mustard. Absolutely a waste of effort for everyone. Adobe should PAY at least a junior developer involved in the projects to monitor and help with these posts. FLEX rules yeah and thousands more do scripting than develop plug ins...
Come on Adobe, step up your better than this. Customer Service can be free to the customers ... we are not talking about GET IT ALL FREE, talking about buy it and create a community and support it, but then again LAYERS and INDESIGN SECRETS have people who actually want to help users rather than rabbit hole everything.

Conversion from word problems with images
Hi ,
I managed to make a conversion table to structure the documents of out company.I am having a proble with images.I am importing the word file to our template with a custom EDD document.When the import finishes I am having all images at almost correct places.The issue is when i apply the custom conversion table all the images at anchored at insertion point.The correct position would be at below current line.I am stuck and I can not find a solution to this.

I know you originally posted this question on the general FrameMaker forum. I suggest below that you post a follow-up question there.
The structure-based part of the issue is that neither a conversion table nor an EDD can change properties of an existing anchored frame. It seems that when you open your Word document in FrameMaker, the graphics come in positioned at the insertion point. That doesn't change when you apply the conversion table. Your EDD does specify object style FiguredCentered as the initial format for GRAPHIC elements. The keyword here is "initial". The EDD can indicate a style for new anchored frames that are created by inserting an element. It does not allow you to change existing anchored frames.
So the real problem is how to make a global change to all existing anchored frames (either assigning an object style or changing the position to Below Current Line) so that you don't have to change them one at a time. I am not aware of a way to do so with existing FrameMaker commands. You could use a script or plug-in, or save the document as MIF and make a global change with a text editor in the MIF file. You might ask on the general FrameMaker forum if someone there knows an easier approach.

How to create a blank theme with no embedded textures?
Hi,
I have created a custom theme based on the "White" theme thinking that it was truly blank. But when I save my new theme, I see that it weighs a hefty 11Mb.
After looking in the package contents, I see that there are marble textures remaining from the White theme. These are used on the default charts.
I tried creating new default charts that contain none of the textures but they are still saved with the template. I cannot delete these files directly in the package because I get a "Missing File" error when using the theme. Unchecking "Copy theme images into document" in the preferences doesn't change anything.
My question is: how do you create a truly empty theme with no textures nor images embedded in the package?

Dual 1 Ghz Power Mac G4 Mac OS X (10.4.6)egoes, if you haven't already, you might consult the Keynote User Guide, page 181. The guide talks about how to create new themes, and how to define default chart styles for those themes. The instructions are unfortunately not terribly clear, but it appears that you have to create default charts for each chart type. (I would imagine that the new theme would use old defaults for any charts that aren't newly defined, which would leave in the textures you want to eliminate.)
If you have no luck following the User Guide directions, and size is important, you might instead start with a smaller theme as your base (e.g., Pinstripe is only 3.1MB, and the default graph fill is a colour fill, not a texture). From this you can strip out the background and other graphics you don't want. With just a blank Master with the background removed, this theme is only 612KB. This is likely the easiest way to produce what you want.

How to work with images in Keynote
Hello,
I'm a Keynote newbie and am having problems working with images. My basic question is, do I have to resize my .jpgs every time I put them in Keynote? It seems that if I choose to Insert>Choose a .jpg, it will fill my entire presentation and I have to resize. If I drag a .jpg, from iPhoto using the Media browser button, the .jpg will land squarely on the part of my canvas that's meant for the image (in the photo-with-title master slide). BUT, the image will just be masked and I once again need to resize it to fit the designated area.
My second question is, if resizing is a fact of life in Keynote, are there any shortcuts which would allow me to resize quickly/automatically to the size of the image area on the canvas?I think Keynote inserts images in their native size, meaning that if you have a big jpg to begin with, it'll appear big on the slide. If you can't adjust the size of the images you have to begin with (for instance, you could easily adjust their size in a program like GIF Coverter--which would actually allow you to resize several at a time--before you begin to deal with Keynote at all) there is another solution to make it easier. Adjust the magnification of the slide to 50% so that when you insert the big images you can find the corners easily.
I should add that I've only ever used Keynote 1. But Keynote arrives (inside a new iMac) as soon as tomorrow. -
Problem accessing applet with images
I created a JApplet with images and icons in it. (The images are on my C drive). When I add the applet to an html page, and run it, the applet isn't loaded, but I get an IO error saying that I don't have security permission to access the images. Is there someway to switch of this security, or to put the images in a jar file and access the images from the jar file?? Thank you for your help!!
By default applets can't read files off the hard drive.
The easiest way to handle this is to put the images and other resources (such as properties files) in the same jar file as the classes, and then use Class.getResource or Class.getResourceAsStream to load them. -
Can import TIFF files but not see or work with images
I previously used Aperture 2 with no problems. I have scanned a large number (hundreds) of negatives using SilverFast current version 6.6.2r2 using a Plustek OpticFilm 7500i scanner. These files are saved as .tif and are all approx 55 MB in size. I was able to view, work with them with no problems in Aperture 2. I can see and work with them in Photoshop CS4, iPhoto, Preview on my iMac and in any program on my PC. However, I cannot view them or work with them in Aperture 3
When I updated to Aperture 3, the scanned files were visible in the preview mode but not otherwise viewable. Another image from a different project would appear or the image was corrupted. I have done everything in Aperture Library First Aid. I have deleted all of my projects, including my vault, uninstalled and reinstalled Aperture 3 and have the same problem. The image is viewable in Browser (preview mode) but either no image or another image shows up in Viewer or Inspector mode. When looking at the Metadata info, the file name is correct but a different version name is being assigned from a different project.
Any ideas are appreciated. I am about to give up on A3 as it has been nothing but problems and unusable since installed/reinstalled.
By the way, JPEGs from camera, cards, etc have been ok. But one of the major goals I have is to capture my old negatives. Unfortunately, the SilverFast JPEG option is not a viable option as not a viewable file by most programs. I have used the VueScan software but have not been happy with the image quality. Besides, I don't want to have to rescan all of these images.I wanted to give an update to my issue. The originals are 16-bit TIFFs using RGB color.
I spoke with Apple Support. After uninstalling, reinstalling, making a new library, importing, generating previews, regenerating previews, attempting importing after saving as JPEGs, 8-bit TIFFs, 16-bit TIFFs from other programs (all of which are able to import and present the orginal .tif files with no problems, Aperture 2 included), the conclusion was that there must be something wrong with my original .tif files.
I then brought up the only "solution" that had worked to date. That is importing the original TIFF, exporting it (via Aperture 3) as a TIFF and then importing the new TIFF. This has given me usable images and not just the previews. He said that that looked like the only workaround but that it wasn't a problem because of Aperture itself!?
As cumbersome as this process will be, it may be worth it. I have trialed Lightroom 3 (which can handle the originals with no problem), and at least so far, I much prefer Aperture's workflow and organizational approach.
