Themed look and feel broken in sub-site

We have several site collections in a farm using SP2013 + SP1 under a common web application that use a custom theme for the look and feel. After upgrading to SP2013 December 2014 CU, one of the site collections' custom theme is broken. Furthermore,
the same site collection cannot use most of the OOTB themes. I have only successfully gotten the theme "Office" to work correctly. (I have not tested all the OOTB theme choices)
Immediately after the CU was applied the CSS and JS on this site collection was not working. After changing the theme to "Office" I was able to test out other troubleshooting options. If I select another theme choice, the "try it out"
page returns with an error "A cobalt error was thrown." This is not a helpful error for me and I could not find much on the internet regarding it. Another error I have received was "file not found", or yet another error "The
URL
'_catalogs/theme/Themed/4F147962/likefull.11x11x32-F47391E9.themedpng' is
invalid.  It may refer to a nonexistent file or folder, or refer to a valid file
or folder that is not in the current Web." I have not been able to fix the issue.
I have found that under 'Site Settings' -> 'Web Designer Galleries' -> 'Themes' -> 'Themed' is a library of folders. My thought is that these folders are created dynamically when a new theme is applied. I have several folders, but all are empty
except one. I am now trying to determine why these folders are empty.
Any ideas?

Hi,
Please try to update the latest CU for SharePoint 2013(April 2015 CU for SharePoint 2013), then check whether the issue still exists or not.
http://blogs.technet.com/b/stefan_gossner/archive/2015/04/14/april-2015-cu-for-sharepoint-2013-has-been-released.aspx
In my test environment, the 'Themed' all folders are not empty.

  • SharePoint 2007 – 2013 migration List view webpart still shows 2010 look and feel even after visual upgrade run successfully in 2013.

    I migrated one site collection from 2007 to 2013 environment. I did Visual upgrade on both 2010 & 2013 successfully. We  have a strange issue with  Listviewwebpart with group by  functionality  still shows 2010 look and feel.
    If I manually edit that  webpart and click ok the Listviewwebpart UI is showing the 2013 Look and feel.  However I can’t manually update all the webparts because there are nearly
    1500 subsites. I tried using console to update webpart but still not lucky
    Following is 2010 look and feel in sp 2013 site:
    expected look and feel should be as follows in sp 2013

    Hi ramch011 ,
    For your issue, you can force through an upgrade to the new user interface by using Windows PowerShell:
    Verify that you meet the following minimum requirements: See Add-SPShellAdmin.
    On the Start menu, click All Programs.
    Click Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Products.
    Click SharePoint 2010 Management Shell.
    At the Windows PowerShell command prompt, type the following command:
    $webapp = Get-SPWebApplication http://sitename
    foreach ($s in $webapp.sites)
    {$s.VisualUpgradeWebs() }
    For more information, see Get-SPWebApplication

  • Is there a way I can add be background image to my sharepoint site with look and feel?

    Whenever i add any background image with "look and feel" it stretches the image. I've tried modifying the CSS file (in body and tried .ms-backgroundImage setting "background-size:inherit !important;") to fix it, but it doesn't seem to
    have any effect. I there anyway i can add a background image to the master html or css code and get it to not stretch?
    Thanks
    James T.F

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to add background image to sharepoint site with look and feel.
    We can define the Image Url  in the Composed looks (Site Settings > Web Designer Galleries > Composed looks) to add background.
    However, the image will be stretched to fill the viewport at 100%.
    Though we can override the CSS attributes which would allow the image to repeat, but instead I recommend to go the no CSS route and switched the background to a much larger one that would fill the viewport nicely without looking pixelated.

  • Good looking Look and feel icons ?

    Good looking Look and feel icons ?
    Where could be found icons , professional looking, like in Java TM Look and Feel Graphics Repository site, for use in JtoolBar For various functions in java application program ?

    (I truely hope I won't start a flame war, but:) I absolutely can't agree with the statement "professional looking, like in Java TM Look and Feel Graphics Repository site". If there's one association that comes to my mind when I hear the words "ugly" and "swing" then it's exactly those icons.
    Nevertheless here's something that might help you better:
    I think (but I'm not too sure) that you can use all icons that ship with eclipse (They should be under the CPL and thus you should be allowed to use them). And I beliebe it might be hard to find somebody who perfers the aforementioned icons ;-)
    Another source is http://www.memoire.com/guillaume-desnoix/icones/. Note that the icons have with different licences.

  • Look and Feel Resources

    Anyone know a good site that explains how to start writing you own Look and Feel? Been searching for a while and I can't seem to find one.

    I'm rather sure you will start a discussion about the pro's and con's here. My position is: It depends.
    A static initializer is called, when the class is loaded, and it is difficult to control, in what order classes are loaded. A static method is called when you do it explicitely. So the static method has the great advantage, that you can control the time and sequence.
    However, a programmer could forget to call a static method. The initializer however is guaranteed to be called. So from this point of view, it is an arguemt for the static initializer.
    Some of your examples are also candidates for lazy initialization: Do it automatically on first use, e.g.
    static Trace trace = null; // some trace object, initialized with null
    public static synchronized Trace getTrace() {
        if (trace == null)
            trace = new Trace();
        return trace;
    }

  • Edit templates and change the look and feel of apex UI

    Hi Friends,
    I am trying to change the look and feel of apex pages(change the alignment,color etc) and try to edit the template
    of apex pages. Please give me links or tutorials that helps to accomplish this,
    Thanks,
    Tj

    Hello Tj,
    You can spend some time on how to create your own Template, but it comes down to design your site in html and then break it into pieces and change the Templates in APEX with that html.
    In that html you use tags e.g. #BOX_BODY# to tell APEX where the forms and reports need to come.
    In the doc there are some explanations too: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14373_01/appdev.32/e11838/themes.htm#BABBFHJA
    I think the best method is to just try it. Sure we give a course on that too, so it's up to you if you need training on that or the doc/your tries are sufficient or not.
    Once you know how things work you can do pretty much everything.

  • Uniform Look and Feel

    Can anybody please give me hint on how to build pages like that of sites http://www.tomatoland.com and http://www.kids123.com , ie same look and feel in all the pages.One thing that i have tried is creating Unstructured UI templates and using it in portal pages.Then the problem is that i am not able to use HTML files inside content area as portlets so that i can include it in the portal pages.Please give a hint or link for any tutorial for this.
    Regards
    Ziyad

    ORACLE have told us the sites you refer to have been built with heavy ORACLE involvement. They use images and custom code to make the sites look nice and show off the product.
    They are not sites any sensible site manager would build because they will be difficult to maintain.

  • More than one Predefined Look and feel to choose from

    Hi
    Is it possible to create a set of pre-defined look and feel styles, and then allowing the user to choose one that will be appled to a site when he or she logs in
    Any ideas will be appreciated
    Thanks
    Harry

    I don't think you can have multiple styles associated with the same page. If anyone can prove me wrong, please do so. What you can do is give people the ability to create their own pages. You can then set up predefined styles that can be accessed publicly. They can copy an existing page, then modify the style with one of the predefined ones.

    Oracle Forms Look and Feel project
    http://sheikyerbouti.developpez.com/forms-pjc-bean/LAF/doc/Oracle_Forms_Look_and_Feel_project.htm
    Can I use the PL/SQL library (laf.pll) , Java Beans and PJCs grouped in a jar file (laf.jar) for Oracle Forms 6i?
    thx

    Hi Francois,
    I find one website mention the following,
    "PL/SQL tables reside in the private PL/SQL area of the Oracle Server database instance; they are not available as client-side structures at this time. As a result, you cannot declare and manipulate PL/SQL tables in your Oracle Developer/2000 environment."

  • I sure hope that the new imessenger doesn't look like the text messaging app, that would be a huge flop for apple. It has to look and feel like bbm or it will just suck.

    I sure hope that the new imessenger doesn't look like the current text messaging app, that would be a huge flop. I think I should look and feel like the bbm to make any kind of significant impact. Am I wrong?

    "iMessage in iOS 5 brings the functionality of iPhone messaging to all of your iOS devices―iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Built right into the Messages app, iMessage allows you to easily send text messages, photos, videos or contact information to a person or a group on other iOS 5 devices over Wi-Fi or 3G. iMessages are automatically pushed to all your iOS 5 devices, making it easy to maintain one conversation across your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. iMessage also features delivery and read receipts, typing indication and secure end-to-end encryption."
    That is from the Apple site. If all your friends have an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad you cang share with your friends, with is exactly like BlackBerry Messenger (BBM only works on BBs).
    And it does look just like the current message format. You can also find that at www.Apple.com

    first it is looking into the web root and it is going to static root.
    Thanks,
    Venkata sarvabatla

    simplest is revert all the changes you made to what it was when you only had portal.
    Lets say your webapp had context /webapp and your site was accessed as
    http://yourserver/webapp. Lets say the images were under
    http://yourserver/webapp/framework/skins/yourskin/images/abc.jpg and so on for js/css.
    Then you added an apache and configured it to point to your weblogic for all requests (code and static).
    Now copy all the static files from your weblogic (via your build process) /webapp/framework/* to the same directory structure under apaches docroot so that
    <APACHEDOCROOT>/webapp/framework/skins/yourskin/images/abc.jpg is a valid path. Add a rule in Apache which states that /webapp/framework/* is served from apache (or you can say all .jpg,.css,.js is served from apache) and this rule should take precedence over the rule which says /webapp/* goes to weblogic.
    I dont know the exact details on apache , but I presume your apache admin will know. verify by adding a new dummy image file only on apache and access it over the browser. If you get it , then it means your apache is configured correctly, if you get a 404 it means your apache is still forwarding to weblogic.
    This has the advantage that developers can work locally without any change because all the paths are the same with or without apache so the site will work the same way on a local desktop as it would with apache.

  • Process Train Component Look and Feel

    I am extending the minimal skin for a project but want to retain the look and feel for default oracle rendered process train. However all I am getting is textual links for the process train.
    Please can you tell me how to re-create the graphical (O-O-O) aspect of the process train?

    I couldn't get the lines between the 'station' icons, but by playing with the border attribute I can get something that looks acceptable, but not the same. The line runs above the 'station' icons, not between. MyApp has a grey background, so the colors may look a bit odd and the arrow images I got from /usr/share/icons/crystalsvg/16x16/actions. It's not what you wanted but it's the best I could come up with:
    .AFTrainStation:alias{
      border-top-style:solid;
      border-top-width: 5px;
      padding-top: 30px;

  • SWT/RCP loses Look and Feel

    My RCP application uses SWT widgets, and it loses its look and feel after executing through Webstart. Before, it had a nice 'clipse look when executed through Eclipse. When going through Webstart, it looks like default java (maybe worse). I tried setting the nativelib to the org.eclipse.swt_3.1.0.jar and when os is Linux I jar referenced the swtLinux*x86*.jar. The latter contains several *.so files referring to the architecture and window systems.
    Thanks for your suggestions/solutions,
    Ben

    The snippet I posted is obviously not "real" code from our product, but it does follow the same pattern-- Swing and AWT mixed and displayed through an SWT pane. Yes, it's pretty horrible. The SWT is a recent addition-- one that has complicated a lot of things, but we really can't get rid of it. The Swing and AWT are intertwined throughout the code, thousands of classes. Many of our group of developers have been forced to learn Java/Swing/Eclipse/SWT as we work, while those of us coming in with Java experience are overwhelmed by the sheer amount of code that needs to be re-written in order to follow current Java/Eclipse paradigms. We're in the process of moving everything to pure SWT, since that's the direction the higher-ups have decided upon, but we're doing things piecemeal (again, direction from higher-ups), turning sub-parts of the product into Eclipse plugins. That means that for the time being we need to make Swing, AWT, and SWT co-exist in relative harmony.
    So, everything is sort of a kludge, and the choice of technologies are dictated by people who don't have to do the actual coding. What's frustrating is that things were working fine with Java 1.5. We need to upgrade to Java 1.6 due to some other plugins that are being added to the product suite. Even when we take the code previously built against Java 1.5 and run it with Java 1.6, we see the unwanted look and feel behavior.
    We would really like to just find the source of the problem. Yes, the environment is kludgey, but something changed in either Java 1.6 or the Metal PLAF to cause the change in behavior.
