www.ownskin.com is the best I think, since you can even create your own theme there.

MPD rocks, runs here for months without major problems.
The client side is very flexible, you can choose many players:

    For X, for console, etc..
    Edit:
MPD supports Icecast also, to create streams.

  • Looking for a music player app for the ipad

Musician looking for music player app to play my sound library
    Folders, set lists......ect.....
Must be able to automatically pause between songs, not like iTunes where you have to manually pause
I have to time to manually pause between tracks since i use this for my live performances.
    All thoughts and advice welcome
    Doc

Try making a 5 second blank .mp3 file or however long you need your pause to be between songs, then create a playlist and insert the blank .mp3 between each song. Just a thought to help save some money.  I believe the DJay app allows this though, but you might want to ask the developer on their website before purchasing just to verify.
    Good luck,

  • I'm looking for a music player with the following features:

    Hi everyone,
I'm setting up a linux desktop for the first time. I'd like some directions on finding a music player. Here are my criteria, in order of importance:
      - Can play (at least) ogg, mp3 and wav
      - Prefers a 'playlist approach' (m3u) to a 'media library' approach
      - Can play songs without breaks in-between
      - Fast startup
      - Simple interface (ex. VLC beats mplayer)
My window manager is pekwm. This is for usability reasons, not performance reasons - my comp. can handle all the bells and whistles you throw at it (actually, I tried with my doorbell, but I wouldn't recommend with the church bell). (sorry for the bad humour). Crazy visualisations and features whose sole purposes are to eat up CPU cycles are O.K.
Good support for keyboard would be appreciated - I am a pekwm user.
    So what have you got?

  • Looking for a music player with a very specific feature

I've been looking for this ever since I completely left windows behind, and six months later, it's killing me that I haven't found the right music player.
Obviously, I used to use foobar2000. The greatest thing about it for was the 'facets' extension which added customizable filter panels. The MOST GREATEST THING about it was that you could combine directory and tag sorting, which means I could sort my REDICULOUSLY HUGE music library by Folder/Folder/Album, which corresponded to Genre/Artist/Album. For various finicky little reasons, sorting it by folder was much more effective than by tags.
Does anyone know any media player which allows this?

Hi, I was a foobar2000 user too. It was driving me crazy that I couldn't find a good replacement, but i've found one. It's quodlibet. Unfortunately right now it's not possible to do Folder/Folder/Album in the panels, but QL has a 'filesystem view' for this. Other than that it can do the good stuff:
    - freeform tagging
    - freeform filtering
It means that you can set whatever tag you want to and then put it in the panels, song list or search bar. It has conditional tags too. For me it was Genre/Style/<albumartist|<albumartist>|<artist>>/Album, but I do not use the panels anymore. I do not have to see my library everytime I play some music. These days I'm using the Album List with the search bar and doing stuff like &(style=goa,#(playcount<1),#(discogs_votes>=50),#(year <= 1998)) makes my day. Replaygain with auto-select between 'track' and 'album' based on current view and play order is a neat feature too. ;-)

I've tried it on my PC, and I've also tried it on some recordings with my band, but mostly to joke around.
I also remember to have used it when playing Quake and Soldier of Fortune to enhance the game effects, but even then after a while I will switch it off.
I haven't tried it on a phone, but I don't even like Stereo Widening or Loudness.

  • Nokia 5610 music player no longer recognized via b...

Back in may I bout a new ford focus that has sync. It used to connect to my phone with bluetooth and play music that is on my phone. Now when I try to access the music on my phone it no longer recognizes it as a music player. It can however recognize it as a phone. Sync still connects to other music players through bluetooth.

I didn't had any problem like that. You should --
1)Copy all your songs, pics, vids from your memory card to your computer. Then
2)Format your memory card through your computer by right click--format. Do not check the option "Quick Format".Then
3)Insert the memory card in your phone and format it by the phone. Then
4)Download any video converterfrom here-- http://www.any-video-converter.com/download-avc-free.php     and install it in your pc.Then
5)Convert all your music files to .aac format.Remember convert all the music files to .aac format. Then
    6)Convert all your videos to .mp4 format.Then
    7)Copy all the stuff(music,videos..etc)into your memory card.Then
8)Unplug the data cable of phone and restart. Then
9)Go to Music and Refresh your Library.
    I hope it works.

  • Searching for a music player like ...

    ... this one http://www.sheepfriends.com/?page=billy … screenshot
Does someone of you know of a player (preferd gtk/gnome like) that just offers me a simple playlist view like in the screenshot where, if i begin to type on keyboard, a little window pops up with the search results from the things typed?
Its the player ive only and always used in windows 2 years ago
You press F4 (shortcut) and are presented with your in options selected music directory, shown in a tree view. So you can easily add whole artists or album or all (whole music dir).
Then youre left with your playlist window again and can just hear music, enqueue some files (they are gettin numbered in order you enqueue them) or begin to type "sun" and get a little popup with results of "sun" and can press enter to play the file or enqueue it (with a shortcut too).
Its just that simple, also it may sound complicated first
But i really hope you got the idea and understood me and my poor english

Romashka wrote:Does somebody know if there any player for Linux that could look like @Max TrayPlayer (version 1.01a was freeware) or STP (SysTrayPlayer, now dead)?
Zinf maybe? If you want something like the controls in the taskbar, there's playground for xmms, bmp and the like and Music Applet for some other players.
I know about Playground and Music Applet - they are not what I want.
I didn't know about Zinc - playlist manager looks good but all those non-rectangular themes etc. - is it fast?
Every detail on these screenshots make me loved in this GUI. STP is even simpler and doesn't use DirectX for playing files, thus eating much, much less memory. But both players are for Windoze. Apollo (by Heikki) and 1by1 - too. I want the same for Linux but didn't find yet. All players that I know about are not "tray players", they have only some addons or applets. But adding some buttons to panel is not what I want, because anyway I use global keyboard shortcuts.
I like xfmedia but it still misses many features that I'm found of in @max Tray Player and STP.

  • Looking for a Music Player App with FTP

I've been looking for a App that will play/stream  music files from
a FTP site (or personal cloud)
anybody seen an App  that does this?
    thanks!

Most cloud music players will only access their cloud folders, not
    an indépendant FTP folder.
I did find one that kinda works - DeadOn Player.
    but it's buggy and crashing.

  • Why does the Apple company not care about its customers enough to repay them for lost music that is the company's fault?

I recently updated my iPod touch software and I have been a happy apple user for years but today I updated and my back-up file was corrupted by the end of the process making me lose all of my music and apps. I know that the apps are easy to get back but I have spent $100s if not $1000s of dollars on music in the iTunes Store and now there is no way for me to get ANY of my music back other than what I have locally on this computer. Does anyone know anyway I could get my music back or will Apple give me any credit for all of my music that I purchased? This is very frustrating and now I don't have any music. Thanks Apple.

If you are in the U.S., then you can get the music back, just like apps.
It is your responsibility to backup your music and to make sure that backup is good.  How is it that you have come to believe that your failed backup is Apples fault?

  • Looking for a decent music player

I know there is a lot of similar topics on forum, but no one did not respond to my question.
So far I have tried Exaile, Rhytmbox, Pragha, Decibel, Goggles, ... and so on.
They are all good players but have some critical flaws.
Exaile is maybe the best of them, but it is slow with large collections.
Pragha is fast and light but does not support pulse and multimedia keys wont work with it.
Decibel is next best thing after Exaile.
Goggles is fast, but ugly, media keys wont work, no pulse support and its GUI is confusing.
I have even tried mpd + GUI, but such option is just too complicated to setup for simple music player.
Okay, this is my personal opinion. What do you think?
I just need player with ease of use of Exaile but faster with large music collections.

I'd suggest you buy a faster computer with lots of memory and keep using exaile.
    Regarding GMM:
    1) media keys: we try to grab the usual XF86AudioPlay multimedia keys. If they don't work, it usually means they're already grabbed by some other application or desktop environment (I noticed this with gnome on a ubuntu installation). In case of the desktop environment, remove the default keybindings for those specific keys. Another case it might fail if the multimedia keys don't have the usual XF86Audio* keycode assigned to them.
    2) For pulse support you need a pulseaudio plugin for xine. Either file a bugreport with Arch to enable the building of the plugin, or create your own custom xine package.
    3) I'm always happy to hear suggestions to make the GUI less confusing.

Special thanks to all the developers, package maintainers, trusted users and other archers - every little lib was already available
I know that a few dependencies are already covered by others (as namcap reports them) but I left them all just to be "compatibile" with aqualung required and optional libraries list (check aqualung homepage for more info).
In this version gui skin chooser doesn't work (at least for me) - it can't see other skins. You can change the default skin to other (build and install aqualung-skins first) manually by changing it in the config file in your ~/.aqualung.
For fast start just run aqualung --output alsa (or oss or jack if you prefer). Jack is required always but it doesn't need to run if you are using only alsa/oss. More info on aqualung homepage.
...and for the future releases a cvs version pkgubild (no difference for now - the project is too fresh :-) but you can use it as a template)

Hey guys can i get any skins or visulisations for my music player??
And also is there any 3rd party appl for WMP11??

The "skin" on the n series music player changes with your current theme. It''s not possible to set it independently of that.
It is not possible to add your own visualisations.
It is not possible to put windows media player on the phone.
Other alternative players are available, like this one:

    Hello there,
I'm looking for a music player for a box I'm currently building. I only need it to have a GUI, playlist support and random playing. I've thought of xmms2, but the standard package comes without GUI and I haven't found any clients with random playing.
    Any ideas?

audacious is a form of bmp, which is a fork of xmms... they're all basicly the same, audacious is more up to date though.
